Went here with my wife last night for a dinner. I've never paid so much for such poor food in my life. I've left many places having paid a lot thinking, that was totally worth that and I'd do it again. Not here, ever.
The sad thing about places like this is it makes you less willing to go out in again at all in the area, so these places affect the surrounding businesses.
Auberge de la Tour totally under-delivered - uncreative and repetitive, mainly mouse-based items that all appeared to be prepared ahead of time.
The crab starter, described beautifully in a framed menu propped on our table, that we choose with such promise, turned out to be nothing but crab from a can. If it was not canned crab meat it really looked like it and tasted like it. It was served along with some additional ingredients to make it photographable, but which did not really help the taste.
The main, beef fillet, was dry, again from probably being prepared ahead. We found the food far, far below what you'd expect for Michelin rated.
Not only that, the service was painfully slow, just one person (possibly owner, so with an air that suggests "accountable to no one") to seat guests, takes orders, host, serve, make drinks.
We really wanted to leave midway but felt we've come this far, let's see if the next course would be better. It was not. Three hours later we were finally given a reprieve with the ending of the ordeal.
The waiting for each course was unprecedented, yet there were only five tables being served. Quiet a paradox since all the food seemed already prepared. As if a predetermined rhythm was being artificially imposed.
The décor was plain, nothing to complain about but the lighting was far too harsh.
We really want to forget this experience - all this just because we could not get a reservation at L'Artichaut - Carouge! - but since we were swayed to go here by the reviews, I thought it would help others to have a balanced view. I wish someone had written one for us to know to avoid going here.
Owner, sorry if this is difficult to hear but I hope the time i took to give an honest review is used productively , ie. to 1. help you decide to improve things for your (future) customers, and also 2. realise I have kindly used my time to provide you, free of charge, actual things you can do to improve things.
