Michelin and Daniel are splendid hosts. We have been coming here (from Bucks County, Pennsylvania) with our 3 children since 2001 (our twin girls learned to ski here). Since we come to ski hard and crash in the evening, the accommodations are perfect. We don't need a TV or phone in the room, as we are only in the room to sleep. We prefer socializing in the living room by the fire, and playing board/card games, drinking wine or beer...
When the girls were ~7 or 8, they liked to color in paper doilies. One night the meal had just such "canvas," so both girls drew pictures and gave them to Michelin and Daniel. To this day (7 years later), the doilies are still up on the wall near the kitchen.
This type of atmosphere is not for everyone. But if you enjoy the simple life, this is the place for you. We have brought dozens of like-minded friends here over the years, and none were disappointed.
So for us, coming to the Appalaches is like coming home to family.
