The owners of this place are so kind and helpful. The location is perfect to discover the region. Breakfast is served in the garden, with homemade jam and fresh fruits. The garden and pool are a great plus with the hot summer weather. We traveled with a small dog, he also enjoyed the stay a lot. Definitely worth visiting!

Review of the Auberge du Chateau|We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights whilst travelling back from the Pyrenees. The owners are lovely providing a friendly helpful service through our stay with English to help our attempts at French. Our room had everything we needed and air conditioning was very effective. The menu in the restaurant was small but all the meals we had were excellent and the local wines were very very good and reasonably priced. The swimming pool was a high light on hot afternoons. There is plenty to see and do without having to travel too far. The hotel dog was a welcoming as the owners. We found no down sides to this hotel and would recommend it without reservation but don't arrive until after 5 as the secure carpark, to which guests have an access code is locked.|

This was our fourth or fifth visit to this hotel and it is now under new ownership. They were very friendly and chatted to us on arrival and departure and during dinner. The hotel is pet friendly and the owners have a lovely dog who is often around in reception. We had our usual room and it was large, clean and airy with separate bathroom. The wifi is strong and there is a lovely private pool at the back of the property. We had dinner on our first night and it was very good. Breakfasts are self service and you can take your food to enjoy on the terrace. The car park gets very busy so if you are late back you may find it difficult to get a place.

Tucked away in the little village of Margon, not easy to find, adequate rooms, air con on from midnight to 8am, great breakfast, lovely little pool, friendly hosts.

We arrived mid afternoon and were shown to our room straight away. The room was clean but it was very bland, with no curtains and the bathroom looked like it had been altered many times over the years, with various holes in the tiles that had been filled, needless to say it was very dated. The air con was surprisingly very good and quiet. Wifi was very poor and so was the phone reception. We asked if we could take a drink to sit by the pool, and were offered 2 choices of beer and then there was a huge search for some plastic glasses, like nobody was allowed to drink out there! We ate in the restaurant in the evening and the food was very good, (quite a limited choice but that's fine), we had a good continental breakfast in the morning. All in all it was a good stay for the price paid, and it was clean, but some improvement could certainly be done with the bedrooms. The staff were friendly enough and worked hard.

The hotel is a little dated and basic - but perfect for an overnight stop in a quiet and pretty village. We had a family room. Very large, everything worked just a but bland and no extras. Owners were exceptionally friendly and helpful. Restaurant and menu looked good although we did not eat there.

Margon is a bit off the beaten track but you need to visit this restaurant/hotel. We went for Sunday lunch, there's an excellent choice of local wines and the food is beautifully presented and tastes good. The restaurant is comfortably furnished and tastefully decorated. I'd be happy to take friends and family here. The premises are now under new management since February 2015 so previous reviews may not reflect the current state of the business. We didn't look at any of the rooms but based on our dining experience I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this Auberge to anyone visiting the area.

The hotel changed management last February and the whole thing struck us as being sadly amateurish, the restaurant is only open in the evenings from 7.30 to 9, no Sunday lunches available,. The food was ok but was generally over-salted, the sauce served with the pork tasted like Bovril with not much water added, the polenta chips served with the monkfish were terribly salty, I did complain to the waitress but my complaint was just shrugged off. The dessert (only one choice take it or leave it) was good. All in all we shall not be going back, we are sad as we were regulars here and loved the food and the atmosphere with the previous owners (both sets)
