I was travelling by car from Roscoff port to Geneva with my 2 dogs & needed to have an overnight stay in France to break up the very long journey. I had booked a budget hotel in nearby Romarantin but decided the day before to seek an alternative with an onsite restaurant. I came upon this absolute gem & booked it immediately. Considering the price I was unsure how it would work out. It was wonderful! My room was in an annex off the courtyard and, while small, was perfect for us. There was no air conditioning but there was a fan, much needed in the very high temperatures. I had dinner in the excellent onsite restaurant & it was just perfect after a long, exhausting drive. Breakfast, while basic, was plentiful and perfect to set me up for a second long day of driving. So happy I made the late decision to cancel my other booking!

My husband and I stayed here for one night to break up our journey from Italy to Brittany. We thought the village was beautiful, quintessentially French. Our room faced the courtyard, which was lovely. Although I agree that the room was a little small, it was clean, done up nicely and fit for purpose. We had pre-booked a table at the restaurant as there was no where else to eat in the village. When we hot there we realised the restaurant was a little more up market than we had planned on so we had to scramble through our suitcase to find something other than shorts, t-shirts and trainers to wear. The food was phenomenal. The menu was entirely in French and we were embarrassed to say that we didn't understand what everything was but the owner came over to explain it all yo us. He was very friendly and helped us make our choices. I asked if they did a carafe of wine, but they didn't. He suggested a wine pairing for my dishes, asked if I wanted two more glasses and when I said two, he said that they would bring a white wine for my starter and fish course and a red for the meat. They wine was lovely and I thought it was reasonably priced especially if you compared it to a similar quality restaurant in the UK.||We chose the four course menu and cannot fault the food. We were given additional hors d'eurves which were delightful and the quality of the food was stunning. We would definitely go back.

We were lucky enough to spend two nights at this perfect Auberge. The rooms (in the annex) were excellent, but the food was the main attraction. The owners made every effort to make the restaurant experience unique - the décor was very much a reflection of their interest in game and hunting and the food showed that had been prepared with great care and attention - the flavours were mouth-watering and the combinations extraordinary. We were even invited into the kitchen to meet Joel, the chef (and owner's husband). The village is also a lovely place to visit - with a great charcuterie, a pretty picnic area by the lake and some interesting walking circuits. You could spend a week here easily

We found this Restaurant with Rooms in a Guide Book in 2020. Having planned a route through France for 2021 we adjusted it deciding to stay here rather than a chain hotel in Orleans.|This was 100% the right decision. The upstairs rooms are large with all the facilities needed for a bed and breakfast stop but what makes this place is the restaurant. The food was first class, the wine list extensive, the service excellent but not overbearing.|If you are in this area do yourselves a favour stay here, you will not be disappointed.

After a long day of touring, we were happy to check into this hotel and relax. Since the town looked virtually shut down (due to August vacations), we were thrilled when the owner told us that they had a restaurant where we could have dinner. We proceeded to have an excellent, gourmet meal, where every course was outstanding. | In the morning, we oinked up the MOST DELICIOUS Pain au Chocoat, a fun "twist" style with a higher ratio of chocolate than typically encountered. My son and I were SO EXCITED, because we love sweets.| The owner was very helpful with bags, parking, etc. I highly recommend this property, and be sure to eat here too!

Great hotel in a lovely village/countryside location but still easy access to the main roads. Restaurant is superb and frequented by locals as well as guests. Strongly recommend.
