Auberge du Port des Roches

We went for lunch. The setting is beautiful. Valerie is always an excellent host. The food is amazing, beautifully presented and very tasty. Service is exemplary. It’s quirky being served on a terrace opposite the actual hotel/ restaurant. If I’m honest, eating inside is not the same experience, so check the forecast before booking. |Being beside the river, in the shade of an ancient yew tree ( I think) is so special. It’s not cheap , but for the same standard in England, I’m pretty sure it would be nearly double the price. The standard and quality is consistently high. |Highly recommended.

Went with friends for dinner. Decor is very old fashioned but food was good and friendly efficient service. Will return in warmer weather as the auberge is on the banks of the Loir

Fantastic hidden gem, we always visit when we're in the area. Traditional food cooked with modern flair. Great service, very friendly owners. Lovely to sit by the river with a coffee after dinner. We'll be back!

Comfortable, clean modern bedroom and ensuite with charming hand embroidered room number on door. Delicious supper, served excellently in the pretty, flowery terrace garden on the banks of La Loire. A warm sunny evening and a shady tree added to the experience.

We have been visiting the restaurant at the Port des Roches for more years than I care to remember and each time have had a superb meal. The hotel is quite a small place run by the husband and wife owners and as such the menu is not huge but, everything on it is superb. With fresh local ingredients cooked with care and understanding and, at a very reasonable price. The wine list is quite extensive. During the warm months dinner is served on the terrace which borders the river Loir, the experience is well worth trying. During the cooler months the nicely decorated dining room is comfortable and welcoming. The hotel has a small number of rooms which are comfortable and cozy. The patrons and staff are very welcoming and friendly. The serving staff are well trained, which is not always the case in France, and will enhance your experience. In short, go there, eat and enjoy.

Always a great experience at the Auberge. Good food, great location, superb service and cosy rooms. A wonderful place to stay. Somewhere close to perfection. Eating on the banks of le Loir. Brilliant.

Friends who live in the area invited us for dinner here, and what a treat it was!||Lovely dining room, really professional young serving staff, and a menu that was short but wonderful. French food cooked and presented to perfection.||||If we had any criticism it would be that there was little pause between courses - the three course meal was almost conveyor belt style, which was surprising as there was no "second sitting". We would have enjoyed the experience more had it been more relaxed. Also worth pointing out that this restaurant is almost in the middle of nowhere, yet the dining room was full, mostly of residents in the hotel - most of whom were British! Weird!

Really tucked away beside a river but what a find! Very comfortable and quiet location just north of Le Mans. Family run hotel - very pretty setting. Garden and terrace across the road by the river which in the summer be lovely. Unfortunately it was cool and a little drizzly so we did not brave it. The restaurant was traditionally decorated and the food was delicious. Service was great. Very French which was not unexpected in view of the location. My husband had eaten several times here before on his trips to Le Mans but never stayed. So quiet we had a great nights sleep. Explored nearby town of La Luce before continuing our journey to La Rochelle.
