We did stay in a nearby village and found this excellent restaurant. Just down by the (quiet) main road it offers wonderful food. Set-menus or a la carte.
We did make a reservation, which was a good thing, since it was fully booked that night. Inside it's a very classy, warm and welcoming setting. Owners and staff were fantastic, took care of us very well and made us feel at home. And our Bulldog was welcome as well.
When reading the menu, the mains might sound "normal" (like veal or fish). But the execution of the menus are really top-notch. Both quality wise and presentation-wise. The cook - she really knows what's she's doing, is really a master in the kitchen. And her husband takes care of the customers at the tables.
The evening started with a wonderful, complementary amuse-bouche.
Then we chose the mi-cuit tuna and the Gravelax de magret de canard for starters. Both excellent choices. The canard (duck) was amazing, I'm not that much into duck, but this was fantastic.
For the mains we chose the Dorade grilee and the veal mignon. Fish and veal were cooked to perfection. Juicy, tender, great quality.
For dessert the Parfait glace au Royal Combier and the Tartelette de Foret Noir. Many restaurants struggle to present a great dessert in my opinion. Not so here - as the entree and the mains: It's pure excellence.
A great evening from start to finish. Quality, hospitality, presentation, price. All great. Surely we'll be back one day.
