Our plans over the holidays was to return to the Eastern Township of Quebec to visit friends before going to see family in Montreal. Last year we ate at this location in Knowlton over the New Year so chose to stay at the hotel this year on Dec 27th as it was a good one night stop over. December 24th we received a call mid afternoon from our friends we were to visit. She had suddenly became very ill. We needed to cancel as we had no where to go for three days before our Montreal visit on Dec 30th. I rushed home to find the Expedia reservation and call to cancel. The policy stated we could cancel until 3:00 pm December 24th. It was 3:15 pm December 24th. I quickly contacted Expedia asking them to please make the call to the hotel to see if they would accommodate our request of only 15 minutes late due to an emergency situation. They called. The hotel refused to accommodate. I asked if we could change the date to the 29th instead. The answer was no. I then tried calling the hotel direct. No one answered. I left a message asking for a return call. I was sure there must have been a misunderstanding and we could work something out. December 26th and no return phone call. I called again on December 27th asking they please call me as we would not be arriving that evening and would like to discuss possible options, even considering a gift certificate for December 2025. It is now January 3rd, 2025 and I still no curtesy call nor any form of customer service to either apologize or attempt to accommodate. This could have been an annual visit for us but, unless someone chooses to make restitution in some form, we will not be back. Should a call finally come through and something positive come from it, I will post again to let you know they actually are for real and care and retract my post.

Came to town for a wedding this weekend. The two women running the reception desk and cleaning were a huge help especially as we took up a lot of space and time for pre wedding photos/as we got ready. Room was comfortable and had everything I needed. I left before I could say thank you for your kind compliments and checking in with me to see if I needed anything. Would stay again

Our initial response to the inn was that it was quirky & a bit rundown. It is an old building after all. There are adequate furnishings and fixtures in the room. There is a fridge & coffee maker in the hallway for group use. |However what ruined our stay were the bedbugs that were in the bed & daybed. We were bitten and are now worried about bringing the bedbugs into our home via our luggage. |I do not recommend this inn.

We chose this auberge for the location which was quaint and beautiful. Firstly, we arrived 30 minutes before the room was ready, walked up the multiple stair cases with our suitcases and no one was in reception. Finally someone came, and we were not allowed to leave our suitcases with them for those 30 minutes. The manager did not bother to show us where the room was (please note that this is an old building with multiple levels and stairs and a restaurant) We then had to bring back down the suitcases again to the car. We then went to our event, and coming back at around 11pm. Not knowing where the room was, only the general directly, we brought back the suitcases up stairs. No doors were labeled at all, so we took the door we assumed was correct and ended up being locked in a fire escape unable to get out. We then proceeded to pound on what we thought was the restaurant door because it was impossible to go back down the stairs due to all the beer cases and barrels blocking the exit. Someone who was closing up the restaurant heard us and let us out and guided us to our room. We were very fortunately not to have been trapped in an area that was meant to be an emergency escape. The next morning at 9am there was no one at the reception to assist us. We wrote to the auberge multiple times with no response about our incident. The staff member was entirely unhelpful.

A lovely place right in the center of a small historic town. Built in the middle of the 19c this place has appropriately squeaky floors, but is immaculately clean, comfortable and is not haunted! It is spartan but comfortable with a good resto downstairs and every amazing antique store feet away. Comfy beds, great linens and towels. Say hi to doggo Charlie who loves a petting.

Bed bugs on room number 1 indeed. Woke up with several bugs filled with blood on my pillow. I brought a dead bug to the front desk and they said this had never happened before. Only to find out that it actually did happen 2 weeks ago and they were notified. Frustrating to have to deal with clothes and bags clean up. Stay away from!

A quaint but charming hotel on the 2nd and 3rd floors of a hotel originally built in the 1870s. The hallway floorboards were foot-wide pine! Be prepared to walk upstairs because there’s no elevator. It sure gave me a sense of accomplishment! Other than that, the place is impeccably clean and quiet. We didn’t eat in the restaurant but there are great options in the neighbourhood.

Cute, quiet, air conditioned rooms. The bathroom needs updating. Avoid room #5, the room next to the coffee maker. Housekeeper is a hard working gem! History infuses this hotel. Great location near The Buzz and Lac Brome Books, both wonderful!

Yelp
Lovely stay at this very quaint hotel on the main street in Knowlton - lots of shops and places to eat. Also and IGA nearby - lots of green space with a park right next to it and the marina a few minutes walk. Very quiet location and friendly staff. Hotel has lots of amenities such as a very good restaurant on site, a large balcony to sit for a coffee and a shared breakfast nook. Rooms are clean, bright and well laid out. Highly recommend.
