"Italian is common around town, including at l’Auberge Saint Martin, a simple inn and gathering spot where I spent the night. The restaurant specializes in “cucina bianca,” a style of cooking based on locally grown produce and dairy from the Brigasque sheep bred in the area, which transformed deliciously into the flaky potato and leek Torta Brigasque and sweet ricotta cheese panna cotta served as part of my half-board lodging." - Kimberley Lovato

My husband and I stayed in Auberge Saint Martin for two nights as we enjoyed the beautiful scenery, the Train des Merveilles, and the museum in Tende. It is not luxurious, but the rooms are very clean, the staff is most helpful and pleasant, and the food in the restaurant is exceptional. We enjoyed half board, and the food was delicious. Breakfast was a limited buffet with croissants, baguettes, ham, cheese, pastries, and beverages. It was plentiful and tasty. Lunch, which we enjoyed one day, was delicious, and dinner was a delight with many locals and guests at other hotels joining us. The servers were very helpful in insuring that I had vegetarian options for each meal.

Friendly family behind this restaurant serving local cuisine. The starters were tasty but the mains, pork jowl and breast of duck, were cooked in a weird way so the meats and their sauces had a strange mouthfeel and aftertaste and the owen potatoes had a tough chew like they had been reheated. The panna cotta of local cream and the ice cream was world class!

I was in the region on a bike touring holiday and the Auberge Saint Martin was a perfect resting place for a night. A warm welcome by the staff, very comfortable rooms and an outstanding dinner with house-made local Brigasque specialties was excellent. Thank you!

The Auberge Saint Martin is a quaint hotel in the village of La Brigue. The rooms are sparsely furnished but immaculate/spotless. And since we were there for the hiking trails, the rooms were simply a place to recover. The truly amazing part of the hotel is the food & their attention to service - our dinner last night was awesome and staff is amazing. We booked everything online, with the manager responding almost immediately even though he was away on vacation. It is a real gem in a wonderful part of the Alpes.

Only stayed one night and did not have breakfast or other food or drink, so limited overall experience, plus we were there May, well before high season. This is a small, wonky (understandably as it is a medieval building) place with some mild oddities (like bath-tap showerhead, and concertina sliding door on the bathroom), but the location is a complete delight: right on a small, historic, stone-built square, with a couple of bars (so on a Sat night there was some external noise of drinkers up to around midnight), a simple little shop five mins away, the gorgeous cobbled alleyways of La Brigue all around, and a couple of great walks, full of wildflowers and butterflies (and Short-Toed and Golden Eagles!), starting just a few minutes away. Especially because of the authentic-feeling beauty of the village location (and with a train station too!), this was great value for money.

Nice location, very good food, reasonable prices considering it is in France. Try the bunet.

Try the Gnocchi with cheese and some of the local red wine. Multiple trails and mountain tops to hike, although we experience rain due to the season (November). It’s a small and quiet town with a beatific church and Italian history.

The restaurant which is in the mountains above Nice and not far from the Italian border serves local dishes that i cannot spell but that are fine.||The service is quick and the surrounding is picturesque||There is a formule for 14,5 € and local open wine.
