Hidden Gem in Cette-Eygun. This wonderful small hotel is lovingly developed and managed by Julie and Javier, who are truly passionate about their work. The rooms are spacious, calm, and beautifully decorated with a Middle Ages-inspired decor using high-quality materials— truly charming. The hotel is ideally located for hiking tours in the French Pyrenees. The highlights are the breakfasts and dinners, prepared with prime quality local products, served in a family-like setting. The restaurant offers amazing views, adding to the overall delightful experience. One truly feels at home here. Highly recommended without hesitation.

We had an incredible stay at Auberge Toison D Or! The proprietors and other guests were wonderful to chat with, the food was delicious, and the room was comfortable. The town and the views from it are very beautiful.

This hotel is a gem! Julie and her husband (host) are the kindest people, very accommodating, Julie is an excellent cook and the rooms are miraculous. Clean, luxurious and unique in every way. |The couple has put so much effort and detail in the restoration of this old building and created a stylish refuge with a mega view. We will have to return, to experience this special stay once more and to show our appreciation for this lovely accommodation.

Fantastic, doing the GR10 and got picked up at the trail head. Then ate marvelous food and slept in total comfort. The owners were a pleasure to meet. Thanks.

I must confess, I am the luxury traveler and like modern hotels with spacious rooms and equal bathrooms. This auberge is the exception to the rule.||The drive uphill makes you think, where am I going and what I am going to find?||How can there be a hotel here, in the middle of nowhere?||Rest assured, you'll be surprised in a very good way.||||The auberge is located on top of the hill, in a very small village with less than 40 people. The building itself used to be a monastery a very long time ago, but continues to serve as a gathering place for the community next to its commercial nature.||||The owners have created a wonderful place, with keen eye to detail with respect to the ancient construction. You will find yourself in a mediaval surrounding, with reference to its past as a monastery but also with a knights-theme. And very nicely done indeed.||We had the biggest room, the Galahad, with the big window overlooking the valley.||All details are done to perfection: the big bed with knight on horse on bedboard, the knight on the shower enclosure, the stone tiles, everything is impeccable and superbly executed. ||||Julie is the perfect host and cook! She served us a lovely home made three courses dinner, and made us feel at home and welcome. She is a great story teller too and we were very happy she made time to sit with us and tell us more about the building and the community she and her family are living in.||||I can highly recommend this place. It may have a 3 star rating but overall, the auberge deserves 5 stars in eye to detail, warmth and service.

Stopped for an overnight on our journey from Roscoff to Spain and have to say it was one of the highlights of our holiday,| Everything from start to finish was perfect and we have already booked again for 2018. The rooms were really lovely, very quirky, comfortable and absolutely spotless. We had a fantastic rustic evening meal, seriously good food, wine and conversation, the breakfast was delicious too, both meals were exceptionally good value.Julie is a wonderful host and a genuinely warm and friendly person, she went above and beyond to make us feel welcome, I can't praise her, the food or the accommodation enough. Also was lovely to meet Francisco and his family. To wrap up my review all I can say is if you are considering booking don't give it a second thought, book now. You will have an experience that will stay with you for a very long time..this place and these people are very special indeed.

We stayed in another auberge, which did not serve evening meals and this Restaurant came recommended. The was a set menus for the evening - with vegetarian options available, so no choice. Food was superb. Wine was very good quality and very reasonable. The atmosphere was really lovely as we shared a huge table and benches in an old Monks Refectory with lots of complete strangers. The host went out of his way to ensure everyone was involved in conversation, which was really appreciated as there were several nationalities there. The views were spectacular from the terrace, which is still a work in progress. Our only complaint was that we were overcharged, by poor addition on the part of staff and we did not notice till after we had left !

My wife an I stayed overnight on our way from Spain to Bordeaux. As it was off season it was very quiet and we were upgraded to the Sir Galahad room with the best view in the house (see pictures).|It's a steep drive up to Cette Eygun but the views down the valley are worth it. The place itself is unique in its decor and spotlessly clean with a very comfortable bed.|Julie was the perfect hostess and prepared a delicious evening meal for us, as well as a good breakfast.|If you're looking for a rural getaway in a unique location, this is place is highly recommended.
