Aubreys and Peedies Grill

Stopped into this little place a few minutes after they closed and they let me order anyway! I ordered a hamburger and it was amazing. The people were so nice! Even met Peedie the owner, he was super kind. This place has been here for 45 years! If you are looking for a good breakfast or quick lunch, you will not be disappointed! I just loved it and will be a frequent customer. They only accept cash, but they do have an ATM.

How am I an avid reviewer and this is one of my favorite places to eat, yet I’ve never left a review? It breaks my heart. This place has ruined all other breakfasts for me… I’m not exaggerating. Every single day off I have, I ask my wife if we can go to Peedies. I would eat here every single day if I could. The owner works the grill and he’s incredibly talented at picking staff who are extremely nice and sociable. From the moment you walk in, you’ll know you chose the right place. The only thing I don’t like is that they only take cash, but that’s not a dealbreaker. I literally keep a box of cash just for Peedies. If you don’t like it, let me know and I will pay for your breakfast.

Old school cash only hamburger, hot dog joint. Long line each time I have been for take out, with some tables inside but a little tight at lunch time. No frills but good burgers and dogs at a good price

This was my first time at Aubreys and Peedies Grill. The hot dogs are not red southern dogs. They are cooked on a roller like you would see in a gas station. That is not a negative just an observation. It did make for extremely fast service. The chili is pretty good. I like how it is not very tomato based. I got slaw on my hot dog and it was under the chili so I could not really taste the chili. The hot dogs are good just not great but you may think they are great. Hot dogs are one of those food items that is “each to their own” especially depending on where you are from. The cheeseburger I got was really damn good. It had a great flavor. The service was very good. The restaurant was very clean. Overall I liked it a lot but I gave 4 stars instead of 5 because I have had better in their same category but it is worth trying if you are visiting or live in the area.

We were in the area for work and stumbled upon this gem. The staff was friendly and the food was delicious. I knew I was at the right place when I saw a bologna sandwich on the menu. The fried bologna and cheese sandwich was delicious. Will definitely visit again.

Such a quaint mom and pop style spot! Stopped in for breakfast and didn't know it was cash only. A sweet stranger stepped up and paid for us and refused to let us lay her back 💕

Places like this remind me of being a kid and getting breakfast with the family. Excellent service with a smile. Great atmosphere. I hope this place never changes. Will definitely be coming back!

This quaint and home town business has been serving good quality food for many years. What it lacks in ambiance is offset by the quality of the food they serve. If you are looking for some of the best hot dogs or hamburgers in Wake County, bring your appetite and cash. They don’t take credit cards. You will NOT be disappointed!

I am sad to admit that I have lived in the area for 5+ years and have never visited before. This is not a location one would visit if you are looking for healthy choices or fine China. This is a good cheeseburger, fries and served with a smile kind of place. The burgers were great and the fries were perfect! I would highly recommend and will return for more visits!

There's a real old time, small town nostalgia around this place, so if you grew up around Main St America, you'll likely love this place. They make a decent burger and fries for a great price. Sadly, they don't salt their fried or season the burger, so it's a bit plain unless you add chili or bacon. Also, burgers are not cooked to order. They pre-cook the patties and throw them back on the grille to reheat. Food comes out fast and hot tho, and like I said...cheap. Like so many others have said...bring cash. You've been warned.

This place is a local institution--a classic grease spoon diner offering reasonably priced, comforting food. It's cash only, so be prepared. You order at the counter and receive your meal on disposable plates. Don't expect much ambiance or customer service, but if you're after honest, no-frills comfort food, this spot delivers.

I've been going to this place since I was a teen so at least 20 years now. Boy how time flies but that's another story. This is a small no frills cash only neighborhood grill that always executes. It's the consistency for me, the fact that the burgers taste as good as they did back then and they still have the same type of crispy fries. They have a good thing going and it's been going for a while now. They have a variety of breakfast and lunch options. The only thing is they close at 2 or 3pm so there is only a small window of time when I can come get their yummy food. As far as service, you order at counter and wait for it to be done and you grab it from the counter. I'm always too hungry when I get here so no pics but the food is solid!

Sanitation grade is low. Customer service is not all that great and their system is way behind because they only take cash.

I enjoyed the double cheeseburger. However, I didn't appreciate seeing the servers touch the burgers and fries with bare hands. "Hands are not sterile. Touch your own food at home, not the customers' food. Wear gloves, if necessary!" There was a long waiting line outside; the locals love this place. The staff were friendly.

Just had the best hamburger here. Read the reviews and decided to give it a try. Line was to the door but service was really fast! Like others have said, bring cash. Place was clean, and there are a few tables but most folks take things to go because there isn't a lot of space inside. Sweet tea is really sweet. Loved this place.

Listen, if you haven't been here you surely missing out. My favorite mom and pop place in town. Local gem indeed. The entire staff is as friendly as they come. Food is delicious everytime.

Pls be advised they do not take credit cards and there's no notification other than verbally after you order. That is their right, if you suggest otherwise you will get a whiff of Texas chainsaw after the old man behind you makes a joke about it and the staff and over half the customers in the restaurant has a laugh at your expense. I got double cheeseburgers, fries and apple pies. The burgers are pretty good for an old diner that has been there forever, meaty and the chili has lots of ketchup already in it. The fries had never seen salt, but they were basic nonetheless. The apple pie was good, I'm sure it was frozen prior to the fry basket, maybe I shoulda skipped the fries and just ate the burger and pie. Oh, and the lady who bagged my order was not wearing a mask. I may return, but not alone because I won't be bullied again without a witness.

Went here saturday with the hubby. Standing room only. Make sure you have cash but does have an atm on site. We got burgers and fries. Burgers were AMAZING!!!!!! I had bacon added to mine and oh boy let me tell you they are not stingy with it. I should of got a single but got a double and didn't eat anything the rest of the day I was so full. I will definitely go back the next time we are In the area. So freaking good.

The best place in town for breakfast sandwiches bacon egg and cheese on toast with mayonnaise is the best around and lunchtime, hamburger,hotdog, double cheeseburger is all great I highly recommend!!And it's cooked right in front of your eyes

A trip back to the diners I grew up with including no Credit Cards. Growing up in a small town in Western North Carolina, our favorite places were places like you saw on Happy Days. Simple burgers and dogs with fountain drinks and milk shakes. This place reminds me of that except for the fountain drinks. Ever notice on Happy Days everything was cash and no credit or debit cards. Same here which is no problem. Coming back from the Outer Banks, we wanted to find a place for lunch that was convienent to US Hwy 64 but with good ratings. No menu publshed but this place scored very high so in a soaking downpour, decided to give them a try. It's a shotgun store which is basically one long but narrow space. You walk in and tables are on the right and the counter and kitchen is on the left. Place you orderr at the counter, pay and wait. May not sound good to some but I grew up with fried baloney sandwiches so i ordered two of them. They were great. My wife, a Pittsburgh girl ordered two grilled cheese sandwiches and an apple turnover which she loved. Service was good and friendly and it was a local favorite so you can see why it get high rating. Not in the area very often but would make a point of coming again if the occassion arises.

Not a lot of choices for a good, fast lunch in Wendell so this fit the bill. I had a dog w mustard, slaw, chili & onions with fries and it was just what I expected: hot & good. Wish they'd take credit cards...

We were in downtown Wendell and looking for a place to eat lunch. We spotted this establishment, make sure you keep your eye out or you'll miss it for sure. They accept cash only. The dinning area is intimate and charming. They have four ladies working the counter. If you come in and the line is long, don't worry they know how to work the line down quickly. I found the food to be delicious; I had a double cheeseburger and fries. A fried of mine had two hot dogs and he really enjoyed them. If your in Wendell it's worth a look see and an eat in. It is a really great small town experience.

This is a one of a kind experience. It's like a time warp- comfort food, friendly people, inexpensive. A place that doesn't need decor to show how wonderful it is.

Definitely a good old school burger/hotdog joint. I work in Zebulon, and any time I ever have to go over to Wendell, this is where I eat! My only complaint is that they only take cash....no debit/credit cards.

I love this place, the people are so kind, they remember your name and the food is great. OLD school service, perfect size, perfect food. STAPLE in Wendell, we would be lost without them.

It's simple, if you're looking for healthy food with grass in it then this ain't it. If you're looking for really good, I don't care how many calories are in this, it just taste good, type of food, then this is the place for you. Breakfast is simple, greasy and delicious. Ditto for lunch. It's always crowded for a reason. Oh, and if you're uncomfortable with people being around you while you eat, then get it to go.

Good lunch spot in Wendell. Hadn't been here in about 10 years. Still fantastic. Had the Super Sport, great burger. Love coming to small town institutions like this.

Yummy grits, great prices...make sure to bring cash and get there before 2! We've only eaten here a few times because I don't carry cash that often, but the grits and biscuits are yum and the place stays packed!

One of my favorite places to eat when I am home. Breakfast or lunch, it doesn't matter. The food is awesomely priced and just as tasty. Peedie does his thing every day man! Great food, great people, and at great prices. Always love coming in and seeing the familiar faces.

Great place. Service is friendly and prompt. Reminded me of Melvin's in Elizabethtown...line out the door...waits were nothing to get excited about...and order was 100% correct. The surprise was a fried bologna sandwich with mustard. It was off the chain.

A friend and I were in Wendell to attend a funeral service. After using Yelp to find a spot for lunch, we ended here. The food was great and the service was friendly. Hope to visit Wendell again...I'll stop in for an apple turnover!

Been eating here for the last 20 years. My favorite place to eat breakfast or lunch in the area for sure. The staff is very friendly. I have moved away from Wendell twice but still find my way back here when I can to enjoy the awesome hamburgers. Sweet tea is some of the best I've ever had

If you're looking for the hole in the wall restaurant with great food, this is the place. Last I knew they only took cash, and closed way to early. Plenty of times I wanted an aubrey's fix but they were not open. Other than that, always friendly!

I can walk to Aubrey's from my house and the food and service is always great. Only issue I have is it's hard to get a seat because the place is so small...wish they would expand a little.

Ive been to this place twice and both times were amazing. It's a small place not a lot of room but it has a 50ish vibe. The food is amazing you won't regret it people there are really nice makes me proud to be in the south!

Best cheeseburger I've had since childhood. Reminded me of old school pharmacy food. What a treat! Everyone in there knows each other and it felt like home. Overheard a gentleman asking a lady what she was up to that evening. She told him what she was making for dinner and told him to come in by. This is why I love small town NC!

Have been a regular for over 25 years. There is no better hot dog or cheeseburger around! Breakfast is also extra tasty.

Small town grill with awesome food. My family loves this place, been eating there for over 15 years! As a child I loved it, we moved away but always found a day to return to the home town for a visit. Now I've moved back as a adult and eat there often. I only wish they stayed open later but not complaining. The owner and his staff are polite and never forget a face. Old school food small diner, I recommend a Bacon Egg n Cheese Biscuit and Grits for breakfast and a Double Bacon Cheese Buger, fries and a Sweet Tea for lunch.
