How to Plan a Winter Weekend in Skaneateles, New York

"A small-batch, New York City–style bagel shop in the neighboring town that delivers quintessential NYC-quality bagels; an egg everything bagel came so fresh from the oven that it required no toasting and recalled the taste of Manhattan classics." - Lauren Breedlove Lauren Breedlove Lauren Breedlove is a New York-based travel writer, photographer, and content creator who focuses on off-the-beaten-path outdoor adventures. Auburn bagel Company is the best bagels in Auburn, New York! This place is a must have when visiting Auburn, New York. The inside is very clean they have tables and a dining room area to sit and enjoy your food, and they recently opened up their outdoor patio to enjoy some fresh air while enjoying your food. The bathrooms are clean in the kitchen area is clean. The service was excellent . I’ve been here three times since visiting Auburn, New York and every time the service has been amazing. The staff was quick to take our orders. They were quick with preparing the food, and they all worked as a team communicating, and helping each other. I saved the best for last let’s talk about the food! I got an everything bagel, toasted with scallion, cream cheese, red raw, onions, and fresh tomatoes. I also purchased a cinnamon scone for the road. All their pastries are made fresh as well as the bagels. They have a regular menu of the most popular bagels and then they always do a bagel of the week. This week was a chocolate bagel. They also have gluten-free bagels. You can do breakfast sandwiches, they have specialty sandwiches. They have a large variety of flavorful cream cheese spreads. In addition to serving pastries and bagels, soups, salads they also serve a variety of beverages. In conclusion , Auburn bagel Company as they say “A Schmear above the rest!” if you’re visiting in the finger lakes area then you must try Auburn bagel Company, I promise you will not be disappointed! Cheers 🥂

I enjoyed the bagels here. I was in town for a friends wedding and we wanted to check out what all the hub-bub surrounding NY bagels is all about. This place was excellent but didn’t remind me of the bagels I ate growing up in Jersey. The seasoning on my everything bagel was incredible and the bacon egg and cheese was extremely high quality. It was fun to watch them make the bagels as well. The workers were extremely friendly and the service as excellent. I would recommend stopping here if you are in town !

Google
stopped down to Auburn to try It out, it may have just opened I am not sure, we ordered 2 bagels with scallion cc and a bakers dozen to go w/ 2 sides of cc and a small coffee, was almost $50..seemed a bit pricey. The bagels were a bit too crunchy for us. I am always in the lookout for a NY style bagel but this was not for me. But overall nice clean place..

I was so impressed with the bagels and smear at this place. I recommend checking this place out. I had the winter herb and garlic cream cheese on an everything bagel and it was just so darn good. The smear (cream cheese) was the best I ever had. Safe to say it's my new favorite!

Google
It was decent however the thirty minute wait time for a egg was a little ridiculous for a bagel shop and the lack of bagels ready to serve was also a letdown. The mystery cream cheese was also very sus with its potato salad appearance. The bagels were good once you got them however the lack of basic bagel etiquette had left me yearning for what could have been. Would not set your expectations high coming here unless you just want a bagel with cream cheese.

Google
I purchased a dozen of everything bagels which were overly salted. They were not freshly baked and had a consistency of day old that had been frozen and defrosted. They were not soft and did not have the Gluten stretch that most NYC bagels. I will not buy them again. Was very disappointed.

Google
Great bagels - fresh from the oven. As good as any in NYC. Great toppings, generous portions. Great atmosphere. Lots of locals obviously eat here yet outsiders are welcome.

Google
One of my go-to shops to visit weekly. The staff is incredibly friendly and the bagels and cookies are delicious.

Yelp
The bagels are great... as well as the sando's and cream cheeses. The area where they fall completely short is the work flow design... in an attempt to make it "more personal" you give your order to a human who writes it on a pad and then tells you to meet them down at the pos??? This is counter intuitive and stupidly inefficient. It eliminates the remote printing or displaying of the order on a ticket or KDS (kitchen display system) it make you tell them your order twice... it creates two bottlenecks. It's totally old school trying to be half new effort school... it's uncomfortable for all new customers and hard to produce the items off of hand written in accountable tickets. It's pretty unnecessary.

Yelp
Beautifully renovated interior Clean and bright inside with several tables for dining in. Friendly service and lots of choices of bagels, spreads and sweets on display. Tony the owner and I had a very nice chat about bagels, lox and New York City!. Prices are in line with other scratch made bagels in the Syracuse area and they also mix their own spreads. I had a plain bagel with smoked salmon, scallion cream cheese spread, tomato, red onion and capers.there was a generous amount of spread and salmon and capers. They have hot coffee, tea and hot cocoa and a case full of cold drinks of all kinds. I had my breakfast with a nice cup of English breakfast tea and ordered 1/2 dozen bagels for take out. This bagel shop is a wonderful addition to Auburn!

Yelp
Bagels are basically perfect, as is the cream cheese. Havent had other sandwiches because I refuse to skip on the perfection that is the bagel with cream cheese. Buy 1 with cream cheese and 1 plain. They give a lot of cream cheese. Enough for 2 novels. Great staff also. I always direct people to go there.

Yelp
Passing through town, wanted a little something for the early morning- stumbled into here. So glad we did. Got to watch them boiling the bagels in water, and transferring them into the oven. They were some of the best bagels ever! Staff was very welcoming- and when I shared it was our first visit, they took time to welcome us and tell us about their treats. The place was busy, but lovely and quiet and relaxing. The only thing I would suggest, if your first visit take the time to look at signs hanging around the place, not just the menu on the wall or the paper one available on the counter. After I was seated and enjoying my wonderful treat I saw a sign for a Jalapeño bagel, and a vegetarian bagel sandwich. Darn sad I missed this

Yelp
Good bagels for a fair price! Within walking distance of the hotel and open early enough if you're starting before 7am.

Yelp
I wish I could give more than five stars. First, they offered a few gluten free options, which is pretty rare these days when it comes to bagels. The homemade cream cheese was insanely good and they didn't skimp out on the spread. It smells heavenly as they make the homemade bagels. While we were there they managed a large crowd very well. Can't wait to go back!

Yelp
My bagel prayers have been answered! As a former NYC Yelp elite and bagel aficionado, it only took a few steps into the store to be brought back to my NYC bagel shop days of yore. Down to the cream cheese dishes, it felt like I was in NYC. The bagels have the perfect crust with a nice chew! Great selection of bagels and a few cream cheese options. Not as generous as NYC with the cream cheese amount, but I'm a butter gal when it comes to sesame bagels anyway! Definitely check them out!

Yelp
After seeing the news story with Brandon Roth about the bagels here at the Auburn Bagel Co we made the trip to Auburn for some NY bagels. Got to meet the owner and he explained the whole process and what goes into making a bagel just like we were back in the city or island. I you want a real bagel that tastes like a bagel should get over to Auburn Bagel Co. We took home a half dozen and now that they're gone we are planning our next trip to Auburn soon! Hopefully he will have Whitefish salad on our next visit.

Yelp
Great bagels! Excellent service! Nice clean modern environment. I love a good lox and cream cheese on a salt bagel (only salt bagel in town) with red onion, capers, and tomatoes.

Mike C.

Yelp
Bagels are the best around! Bagel pizza is epic! Love this place. You have to try the different flavors of cream cheese!

Yelp
Awesome bagels, fast service. Veggie and scallion cream cheese was excellent as well. Would have loved garlic cream cheese :)

Yelp
What made this place shine was the service. The staff and, I am assuming owner, were amazing. The bagels were so good and the breakfast sandwiches were amazing. Will be one of the first places I go to whenever I am in town so make sure you go by there often so it is there when I am in town!!!

Yelp
This is a real deal bagel shop in downtown Auburn NY. Bagels are hand made on site, boiled and baked right in front of you. The cream cheese is the real deal with plenty of made in-house flavors. They make a wide variety of sandwiches on their fresh bagels. Finally fresh Lox in Auburn NY, yes they have it. The owner started his career making bagels in NYC so you know this is the real deal. Prepare to stand in line be cause these bagels are the real deal.

Lauren S.

Yelp
Been twice. Good bagels, but hardly any cream cheese on the bagels. It wasn't even enough to cover the bagel.

Jason M.

Yelp
Very nice variety of bagels. Made on premise. Very nice and attentive associates. Only picked up the baker's dozen. Can't speak on their sandwiches. Cheerful setting upon entering. Highly recommend!!!

Kevin B.

Yelp
Great product and people. There are workflow issues. It should not take 30 minutes for a bagel sandwich. They should talk to Water Street.

Nick R.

Yelp
Was in town visiting from the city and I can say that this place stands up to any of the places down there. The blistered, crunchy outside with the soft, slightly chewy inside is exactly what one should expect with a NYC bagel.

Brian F.

Yelp
These bagels are crazy good! Boiled and baked in-house. Highly recommend the roast beef melt on an everything bagel! Best paired with a Simple Roast coffee from next door.

John L.

Yelp
Amazing bagels and this place will be around for a long time. It's a great addition to downtown Auburn, owned by a local person who came back to his hometown.

Marc G.

Yelp
I've had bagels for MANY different places!! I can with all honesty and sincerity say I have never had a better bagel than Auburn Bagel Company!! All their cream cheeses are exceptional but if you are open to a unique flavor, I highly suggest Lox with scallion cream cheese toasted on a plain, salted,...... well pretty much ANY BAGEL they serve!!!! My wallet hates them but my stomach loves A.B.C.!!
