I've been to 73 countries, this is hands down the worst airport I've ever been to. No free WiFi, no AC at departure gates (upper) floor. Ground floor has a bunch of expensive cafes (e.g. 10 USD for quesadilla, 3 USD for a bag of chips) and some offer Wi-Fi and good AC. Instead of overpaying for food and WiFi, I exchanged my remaining cordobas back to USD even at an unfavorable rate. There are fruit flies everywhere. On both floors there are a bunch of overpriced souvenir shops that sell the same items. The only normal place is Subway sandwich. Upper gate floor has a VIP lounge, 2 cafes and 3 restaurants. There is no display of flight and gates info, I don't even know what my gate number is (but there are only 6 gates). Announcements are only in Spanish! Only good thing was going through security and customs was a breeze. I didn't even fill in and submit the exit form. You can keep your water too. Safety is not an issue, people are ok here. If you don't rent a car, Nicaragua does not have Uber, you need to use Aventon or inDrive app, or get ripped from taxis here that don't use meters. Good luck navigating this dump. I'm getting heatstroke here everyday and I'm outta here!

I can tell you this. The bathrooms were better kept than the ones on one of the VIP lounges in Miami!! The immigration line was a little slow but the officers were polite and helpful. Everyone that I spoke to was pleasant and spoke enough English to put my Spanish to shame.

Great airport; easy in and out.

American Airlines took me to Managua's International Airport. The Managua Airport has many shops where I purchased cigars from Nicaragua for a close friend. Esteli, Nicaragua is a major region for tobacco growing and rolling. I did not have time to visit that area ... I was exploring Little Corn Island. Before boarding my flight, I stopped at La Cucusa Restaurant for Nicaraguas traditional breakfast ... Gallo Pinto is filling and savory. Vhuntermassage LLC

Everyone’s experience is different but mine was great from the moment I arrived at the airport all the way until I got to my gate to wait for the plane to arrive to take off. Did all of that in under 30 mins. Great experience. This was on 6/25/2025

A few bad experiences happened just during a short layover… First, they do all these extra security checks even though you just came from a secure airport they still make you do an extra security check during their layover like they’re desperate to find something maybe because nobody wants to visit this country. While I was getting off the plane for this annoying security check, this lady assumed that I was coming to Nicaragua And told me I had to fill out the stupid paper that they required to fill out and said you have to fill it out or else you can’t come in and I said, but I’m going to Miami Then she felt stupid and ignored me and talk to the person behind me so I had to figure out where to go. Don’t ever assume that People want to go to this country if they’re there it’s because of a layover. Next, I took a picture of the lady that said that stupid crap to me and all the sudden They want to do another extra security check on me and they open all my bags and stuff really like desperate to see what they can find … they need to find other ways to come up instead of seeing what they can get from tourists during their layover. Make sure you get a good translator for this and don’t miss a word that I said.

Great, as usual. Budget some time for the customs line and it was not air conditioned in the line so don't wear your warmer clothes if you get hot easily. This was on a Monday afternoon about 13:00

It was one star, but the big problem that they have is a lack of employees working at Immigration. The average line is about an hour long to leave Nicaragua and to come into Nicaragua. I’ve been in line when it’s two hours long. Also, the air conditioning is now working, which is great, butwhen there’s a lot of people in there, it gets very hot and you get sweaty before you get onto your airplane. That’s like the worst feeling. Being sweaty as you get on your flight.
