For the price the rooms are well appointed. They have all you need. Comfortable bed and clean. Sadly because it’s on a hill, we could hear the hoons driving up and down the streets in their noisy cars at night. Not the hotels fault tho! The lift was great, hurt my knee so it was needed. I’ve stayed in many places for work in the last 17 years, small things like drinkable coffee and a shower you don’t have to run around in to get wet mean a lot! Even the ice was fresh. Great views from our room too. Can’t fault it. But I do like fresh milk, not the horrible little long life sachets.

A lovely historical hotel, very clean room and comfortable bed. Beautiful views from the balcony, nice quiet area. Staff were very accommodating and James was very understanding and generous when I had realised I had booked the wrong dates and I was rebooked without extra cost. Will definitely stay here again when visiting Launceston.

If you enjoy arriving at a hotel only to find the doors locked, no staff in sight, and your “welcome” message sent 30 minutes before closing time, then this is the perfect place for you! Late check-in? Don’t even think about it. Unless, of course, you’re willing to pay a special “call-out fee”, because nothing says hospitality like charging extra instead of simply helping a stranded guest. I especially appreciated being left outside in the rain, marked as a “no-show,” and still charged in full. Truly a masterclass in customer care, if the goal is to ensure guests never return. Congratulations to the management, particularly the manager himself: you’ve managed to turn one booking into a lifetime commitment… to never book here again.

We stayed at this hotel in West Launceston, Tasmania last week and, unfortunately, had a very unpleasant experience from the moment we arrived. The staff, especially the lady on the Reception was quite rude and unwelcoming, which set a negative tone for the rest of our stay. Upon entering the room, we noticed a musty, damp smell in the air, and the atmosphere felt stuffy and unclean. Things only got worse when I went to wash my hands and discovered that the towels in the bathroom smelled old and musty—definitely not fresh or clean. It was obvious they had not been properly laundered, as they lacked any scent of detergent or cleanliness. When I called reception to raise my concerns, instead of being understanding, they responded in a very condescending and dismissive manner, saying they would first need to come and inspect the towels themselves. After doing so, they admitted the towels looked the way they always do and offered to replace them—but made it clear that the replacements would be in similar condition. This response was both frustrating and upsetting. Additionally, we had booked a room for four people, but when we arrived, we found only one double bed and a sofa bed—not a proper bed as expected. We were so dissatisfied with the condition of the room and the poor customer service that, despite having paid for two nights, we decided to leave after just one night and checked into another hotel. I would strongly advise others to look elsewhere. This was a deeply disappointing experience and I absolutely do not recommend staying here.

We checked in at 6 something in the evening . No on-duty staff after 7pm . One of the towels is sting . There was an unknown insect on the bed . We couldn’t contact any staff in the hotel . We left the hotel at 11:30pm that night . It’s raining . We sent messages to the hotel the next day . We couldn’t get the response after we replied them . Definitely won’t book that hotel again .

Quiet, clean and comfortable. Older style hotel but has everything you need, and located conveniently close to the city centre. Loved the big bathtub in our ensuite!|Good value for money, we would be happy to stay again next time we are in Launceston.

Fantastic service, great location with spacious comfortable rooms and an overall beautiful property. We are regulars at The Auldington and always have such a good time. James couldn't be more helpful. Would highly recommend for anyway visiting Launceston.

Yelp
Stayed in this beautiful heritage property for one night. Everything looked just great until we turned on the heating ... barely warm, which was not good in Launceston's very cold winter period. Reported to the front desk and although they tried everything to get some heat going, the recently installed unit was not co-operating. Extra blankets and a couple of portable fan heaters did take the edge off the chill, but we were still quite cold. They did their best and it's a shame that this rather spoilt our stay. The room itself is quite spacious and well equipped. Very comfy bed, large modern bathroom with oodles of lovely hot water and a nice quiet area of town. Let's hope this problem is sorted before the next guests arrive.
