Aum Vegetarian Restaurant

It used to be tough to find good vegetarian food in Chiang Mai, and places with "17" on them were rare. I was super happy that the food here was so good! I've been a few times, and I'd totally get the tea leaf salad again. The base of the dishes is the same but lots of people come here, so you know the ingredients are fresh.

One of the best surprises in Chiang Mai, a hidden gem. A truly vegetarian Thai restaurant. We did not sit in the 1st floor room because of the low tables (you'll have to sit on the floor on a cushion) as we are not young and not sure we would have been able to stand up ;-) Many (I mean really many) dishes on the menu. Prices really fair. We discovered it on our 2nd day and went back every day after. Don't be surprised nor disappointed if from far it looks not that engaging, this is a part of its authenticity. Bottom line recommended for all the vegetarian and vegan public!

We came based on a high recommendation from a you tuber and after walking a mile to get to Aum, we were soooo disappointed at the absolute lack of any flavor in two of our three dishes. We ordered the massaman curry and it tasted so bland but the tofu mushroom dish was even worse. It had the tofu but hardly any mushrooms but it seems like the restaurant ran out of salt or something as it was flavorless!!! Both dishes needed salt or something as it was just poorly prepared. We did also ordered the spring rolls which were ok which helped them in our rating!! The rice was good but overall for the price this was seriously lacking as the curry seemed do full of potatoes and little else but costs $120 baht!!! We’re not coming back!!

Have tried over 15 vegan / vegetarian outlets in Chiang Mai. This one is undoubtedly the worst of the lot. Why? - While most of the outlets have servings full of vegetables and nutrition, they hardly have much. Khao Soi was full of potatoes - Small serving size - Worst taste - the burger didn't have any sauces. Half cooked patty. - Dark ambience - Far location - Obnoxiously high prices as compared to what they serve - The only restaurant that we saw would be closed on 30th and 31st of December 😅 The best part: they had displayed the map of Thailand which was quite engaging

A hidden paradise for vegetarian Thai food. Love the upstair terrace. I think it's cosy to sit on the floor on a cushion. Bunch of options to choose from. I had the glass noodles with morning glory stirfry. I really liked the morning glory. The noodles tasted a bit flat in comparison to the stirfy. I had a certain expectation. But it's okay. I enjoyed it in the end anyway. The vegan ice cream was so good. I can recommend. Overall good experience

I have been coming to this restaurant on and off for the last 15 years, since the times when they were located near Tha Phae Gate. I always loved their avocado sushi, and this time it was still very good, just like years ago. Unfortunately, the rest of the experience was very disappointing. I ordered a mango lassi, which was extremely diluted with water. It was more like “mango water” and honestly the worst lassi I have ever had. When I mentioned this politely while paying, the staff seemed amused and not interested at all. There was also a billing issue. Sushi was 120 THB, mango lassi 70 THB, and I additionally ordered tofu and kale which should have been 70 THB. They charged 120 THB for the tofu dish by mistake. Yes, they corrected it after I pointed it out, but combined with the lassi situation, I felt cheated twice. It feels like the place is now very tourist-focused and simply does not care about customers anymore. This was a really bad experience for someone who used to return regularly, almost every year. I don’t think I will come back again. Sushi is still good, but the attitude of the staff and overall service were very disappointing.

Incredible!! I came 2 days straight for lunch as the first one was a really good experience. I really suggest trying the fried morning glory :) The experience is overall relaxed and loving, a lot of vegetarian and vegan options :)

Amazing restaurant, accommodated us even though we arrived close to closing time. Food was some of the best we have eaten in Thailand, the atmosphere of restaurant added to an extremely enjoyable and relaxing eating experience. Would especially recommend the deep fried pumpkin, kao soi and massaman curry. Would highly recommend for anyone looking for a great range of freshly made vegetarian Thai food.
