Disappointing experience due to poor service
We came to Auren’s Deli for brunch and were really looking forward to it. Unfortunately, one of our sandwiches had a hair in it—which we only noticed after taking a bite. We informed the waiter, who took the sandwich back and brought us a replacement. That part was handled okay.
However, things went downhill when we were checking out. We politely asked if the sandwich could be taken off the bill, considering the hygiene issue. The lady responded with a bad attitude, telling us we had already been “compensated” with a new sandwich—without even offering a basic apology. When we expressed our disappointment, she became defensive and argumentative, then abruptly took the receipt, said “you don’t need to pay anything,” and walked off, as if we were trying to get a free meal.
We left without so much as a goodbye. What could’ve been a simple apology and a gesture of goodwill turned into a very uncomfortable and unprofessional interaction. We won’t be returning.
