"Aurora, Leith. Chef and owner Kamil opened this modern European eatery on Great Junction Street in 2018. This is high-end restaurant food, in a very relaxed and homely setting. The menu is a delight of flavour combinations, such as pigeon breast with wild mushroom and bulgur wheat cake, pickled beetroot, and pear. Or go for the reinvention of haggis, neeps & tatties in bon-bon form.Aurora is open for weekend brunch as well - and their full Scottish breakfast is highly recommended.Did I mention it’s a total bargain too? Book now, Aurora is going places."

Ate here today after seeing a vegan social media post. Was phenomenal! Every course was amazing, thoughtfully presented and delicious. As a vegan there was no compromise, the main even had juicy marbles soy protein! It had everything - artichoke, parsnip, sunflower seeds, sage leaves… all my favourite flavours. Cheeseboard was the best I have ever had, EVER! Petit four was perfect. Can’t wait to go back and see the next menu. Staff were amazing and on the ball. Great value lunch, don’t know if my husband could manage the dinner as we were so full. I will certainly be back to try.

SEASONAL #TASTING MENU 🔝 📍 Edinburgh, Scotland ⭐️ 5/5 💸 £££ 🍴We visited Edinburgh this past weekend, and @auroraedinburgh was the highlight of the trip! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 Aurora ranks as one of the best fine dining experiences on my list. We were welcomed by a truly intimate atmosphere (only 6 tables, so make sure you book in advance!) and explored a seasonal tasting menu of surprising and elegant Modern European cuisine. ✨ The Tasting menu is available for £65 per person, from Friday to Monday, and it's 100% worth it! Ours included a total of 5 courses + some cute extras. I'm not going to explain all of them, but our favorites were the first course (scallop / chipotle / cactus / chapulines), the third course (ravioli / vegan ricotta / beetroot / parsley / horseradish), and the sixth course (pumpkin / coffee / pecans / rum), PLUS, of course, the bread 🍞 Honestly, we'll come back!!!

Very nice place with fine dining. We went there to celebrate my partner birthday. I like new flavours, and there I have meet plenty of superb combinations! Both meaty and vegan option was amazing. We had occasion to try spring menu. Have a look at attached pictures how great these was presented! Each dish was well explained and service very polite and wonder full! I definitely recommend checking out!

Really enjoyable local fine dining restaurant in Leith. Nice relaxed vibe with clean cut decor, and effective and friendly service from the staff. Well cooked and thoughtful food on a tasting menu basis for the dinner menu when we visited. Nice variety of courses and a good range of wines to have either by the bottle or the glass. Worth a visit if you’re after a quality dining experience but with a not over-fussy approach to service. We’ll be back again for another visit in the future.

A nice meal yet slightly disappointing in the flavours and presentation at the price point. Some of the courses were really good and surprising, but others fell really flat sadly.

Really good meal but somehow misses that final cutting edge. We tried the new summer tasting menu, dishes were good. Portions need to be better though, for the price I found them to be a bit meagre. Non alcoholic pairing option a bit hit and miss. Servers extremely attentive which is appreciated.

Myself and my two friends went for the first time last night. Cannot recommend enough!!! The food was fantastic the staff were fantastic and the relaxed ambience was just perfect. Highly recommend to add the cheese course (delicious) best I have had! The wine pairing was perfect. Thoroughly enjoyable evening and will definitely be back. Happy customers. 😊

Amazing meal here. Went for the full menu with matching wines which I highly recommend. Also added cocktails and cheese which we're also all great👌🏼At the high end for price but it's fully worth it as everything is executed perfectly 🙏🏼

Yelp
You know that teenage girl who is slightly pimply and awkward but shows amazing promise and brilliance? This is Aurora. The menu is ambitious and fun. Some things work better than others but it's mostly on point. You can't fault the obvious stretch to do something different and delicious. We started with oysters which came with slightly gimmicky eye dropper bottles of lemon juice and red wine shallot vinaigrette. They were very fresh and exemplified everything you want from oysters. The highlight of the sharing menu was the burrata. It was rich and creamy and came pared with a berry sauce, sliced apples, cherry tomatoes, pine nuts and basil. There was a lot going on with this dish but it all came together deliciously. The 'too much going on' was a bit of a theme for everything else that came after. That's not to say that everything wasn't fresh and tasty but there was just one or two flavours too many which detracted from what was happening. The smoked salmon didn't really need the blobs of G&T. The duck confit didn't really need baba ganoush plus apricot purée plus yogurt. A slight scaling back would have exemplified the 'less is more' principle. That said, every dish pushed new boundaries and was experimental in the way that creative food should be. Our waitress was attentive and friendly. Our experience would have been improved with a prologue to what each dish was rather than it being dropped rather unceremoniously on the table. After all the work that went into each plate, it deserved a well scripted introduction. We had an impressive meal. Everything was fresh and obviously prepared with care. A few very minor tweaks would make everything exceptional. Aurora is a great addition to the restaurant scene and a gem of a find. It's also great value: £100 for three including wine and service.

Yelp
Wonderful food that is locally sourced. Friendly service and a casual vibe with modern country coffee house decor. The best bacon I've ever had and the eggs were rich in color and flavor. I don't usually like hollandaise but the truffle hollandaise was delicious. The coffee and tea were good as well. Such a cute spot.
