Aurora GO

They are making some improvements and is a little messy Right now but I am sure will be very good and pretty when they finish. The Go bus drivers always are so nice. And signs are all around.

Big shout outs to the attendant who told a large group of people coming off a train our bus connection was "just on the right" when what she meant was the busses were around a huge fenced off area covered in black tarps preventing you from actually seeing it till you have already passed it; then once a half dozen people had all missed their bus came over to tell us all we had to wait outside and to let us know in the most condescending way possible that she did tell us "it was just on the right" while pointing to an area behind were we were in the first place

Better than barrie south station. Has bathroom access even on weekends. Attendants are friendly and helpful. Parking looks more sparse, but haven't had any issues.

Your typical Go station under construction: there's a washroom and help desk in the big building, as well as an Aurora library book drop off box right outside. You can find bike racks, heated waiting areas and friendly staff to help you :) I will say plan your trip 10 minutes in advance as you're going to have to walk through a blocked off path to get to any train

After 730am, you likely won't find a single parking spot in the lot unless you have paid for reserved parking, or have a disabled parking permit. Otherwise, you'll need to try the overflow lot or a nearby plaza to park your vehicle for the day, and then hike it for ten minutes by foot to the station. Once you arrive, there are a few electronic signs to provide information, and PRESTO payment devices all along the platform, however if you are using the GO Train for the first time, you'll need to do your research first, because there wasn't much support available for anyone who didn't know where to go, or where to wait. For young people and anyone who is inexperienced at taking transit/people with anxiety, this station might give you trouble (especially considering the construction that is taking place next door).

Major renovation. Navigating around can be confusing.

People in cars dropping off and picking up in the wrong areas and holding up others, cars parked all day in drop off lanes and other selfish behaviour that GO transit does absolutely nothing to address. Pathetic.

How is it that it takes 4+ years to finish building a parking lot and 3+ years to finish the platform work? This is next level embarrassing. Please service the public better and stop stealing money.

It's quite difficult trying to find a parking spot on a weekday morning if you're taking a train after 7:45 am. This is even with a 5 level parking garage that was newly built a few years ago. However, on a weekend there are no problems finding a spot to park. With more trains running starting at the end of the year the commute downtown is all the more convenient. I'd much rather pay $8.26, on the Presto card, than have to be stuck on the Viva and then TTC trying to get downtown. Edit: I forgot to mention that the bus drivers are some of the friendliest around. One even had a string of Christmas lights on his side of the windshield.

Requirements for a proper station by Translink: - advertise wifi but ensure it NEVER works (cool cool) - have the MINIMUM amount of fare stations possible, the more bottlenecks the better (yasss Translink, save that money) - make sure that shelter heaters DON'T WORK in the winter (the best) All in all, just another shitty station. Oh and heads up, don't even think about getting wifi at the Go Bus station at Union either. Even the attendants think it's a joke when you ask.

Pretty chill transit stop. There was not much people or crowds on Saturday and it was pretty easy to navigate if you knew what stop you wanted to get off at. Their kiosk machine were easy to use and worked pretty well. The fares were reasonable by train or bus to get to downtown. It cost around $9. Plan to come back if I'm around the area.

Nice newer station. It has a big parking structure but I've heard it can fill up completely in the mornings leaving you to decide whether to double park or park in drop off lanes, etc. There are a lot of roosting pigeons in the parking structure so keep your head up (or down??) and walk quickly! There's pretty easy Presto access everywhere so you can tap and run to catch your train.

In a lifetime that predates Yelp (BYE - Before Yelp Era), I used to work in the city and anyone who lives north of Finch knows how awful the commute from the 'burbs into the city can be by car (and don't even get me started about the dreaded WINTER COMMUTE). Shudder... I decided to be a GO rider on the daily and after experimenting with the King City stop (terrible because it has ZERO parking), I discovered the Aurora stop. Ever expanding to meet the needs of it's customers, they've added a multi level parking garage, several satellite lots and yet parking still can be an issue if you arrive too late in the AM. Now some history I learned (thank you Wikipedia): "The rail presence in Aurora dates back to 1853, when steam train service began between Toronto and Machell's Corners, as Aurora was then known. In 1855 the line was completed to Collingwood. In 1900, Grand Trunk Railway constructed the present building to a standard plan design with a porte-cochère and low profile. The building was designated a provincial heritage building in 1971 and a federal heritage railway station in 1990. The station building was renovated after GO Transit became the exclusive passenger carrier in 1992. On August 21, 2012, GO Transit opened a new bus loop to accommodate all GO and York Region Transit bus service at the station" In addition, this station acts as a convenience mid point between the Toronto stops and the Barrie stops along the Barrie line.

Never any parking and will be adamant in handing out parking tickets. The f? Spend your time fixing your parking issue before you blame the customers for their creativity.
