We Visited auroville bamboo centre and purchased many products such as bamboo tea cups and bamboo glasses along with many others so as to encourage and promote sustainable produce and also to support local communities. But All the bamboo products cracked within a couple of days . We barely used it a few times. What was even disappointing was when we reached out to the staff working there , the team avoided our calls and disconnected our calls and didnt take the least responsibility to sort out the issue of customers . These people does not take care of customer satisfaction at all and also sell lowly produce. No value for money at all . We urge you to please not waste your valuable money at this auroville bamboo centre . It deserves a negative rating.

I had an amazing workshop experience with bamboo, my students had an wholesome learning experience, an hands on session which helps them to learn and understand all the construction and joinery details , a different bamboo cuisine food was remarkable. Overall an excellent workshop for architecture students and anyone interested in learning.

Amazing experience! We just walked in for a factory tour and Mr. Gughan was a perfect guide! This place is a must visit for children and adults equally! It was a great learning experience! Don’t miss the souvenir shop and grab some eco friendly bamboo things, and definitely don’t the bamboo tea! ☕️ Loved our visit!

Auroville Bamboo Center was established in 2008 and it is a not-for-profit undertaking where a part of the benefits go to support social projects. It is our conviction that the time for a bamboo revolution has come because bamboo is: Beautiful, lightweight and flexible. The world’s fastest growing plant, sequestering carbon dioxide at a high rate. An excellent means of generating rural employment and green economy growth. The Bamboo Center produces a wide variety of handicrafts, furniture, jewelry, soap and takes on construction projects within Auroville. It organizes workshops on bamboo construction and furniture. The Auroville Bamboo Centre explores and develops sustainable techniques for using bamboo in construction, products, furniture and handicrafts. It hosts workshops and trainings year-round. beutiful place, learn how to use bamboo. how we can use bamboo in builiding construction , how we can make different products from bamboo like as soap, cloths, furniture, toys and all. how we can use bamboo for producing bamboo.

HEADS UP!; before you make the journey out there. The Auroville “news and notes” document advertises that there is a tour between 2:30 - 4:30 pm. (See attached) It does not state there is a charge until you get there, and when there they ask for Rs.100 per person. Even though they said it would be conducted in English, the tour was not conducted in Hindi/Tamil, (partially in broken English, if you asked a question) and barely lasted 20 minutes, not 2 hours as advertised. I barely learnt anything about bamboo, just saw their derelict abandoned bamboo structures whilst the bored tour guide played some musical instruments?! Also no bamboo tea and refreshments as advertised. It was incredibly disappointing.. I communicated this disappointment with the receptionist, and she just wanted her money, and didn’t seem to care less.
