Nice hostel. Clean and cosy kitchen. The showers are also clean, but the male ones just get a shower curtain. You have to use the ones for the ladies if you want to keep your privacy. The staff is friendly and really flexible.

Quiet, very strict with the rule which is good, it means you can sleep well. Room is cozy with a share balcony. Reception lady is friendly and staffs cleaning often, all in all it’s clean. The thing bothers me is the shower, shower head can’t be moved and the angle is bad. When I stayed there the light broken at the 2nd floor, so have to use the bathroom at 1st. And WIFI is bad quality in room. (May)

My partner and i stayed in a double room. The hostel is of hotel quality and is in a perfect area not far from the city centre and a few minutes from an array of restaurants and cafes. The staff were lovely and the customer service was fantastic. Would recommend to backpackers looking for a cheap but homely hostel. Looking forward to coming back in the future

Hostels are unfortunately pretty limited in Brisbane and there are no standout establishments. Aussieway is very average. Strict rules about kitchen use and no alcohol allowed (even if only for a drink after a long day of working; controlling rowdiness is understandable, don't see why alcohol should be totally prohibited). The rooms are clean enough and staff okay but overall just seems to lack any character or have any stand out qualities.

This was a very clean and nice backpackers. The staff were very friendly and we had free wifi. The rooms were very homely and clean, with clean sheets. It kind of reminded me of staying at grandmas, it was that homely. It was near the city and takeaways were around the corner. We also found a park on the street for our rental car. A top aussie backpacker!

Booked for female dorm, informed at the reception desk that I was placed in a male dorm with long term residents instead because of not enough females to make up a female only dorm, I remarked it was not what I paid for and that it felt a bit unsafe doing this, reception casually said that "I can always cancel if you don't like it". It was a very busy weekend in Brisbane (NRL Magic Round) , no other accommodation was available at my price point and I was given no indication prior to arrival this could even be a possibility! Room was small and obviously lived in by male long term residents but not unclean. Ended up having to beg a friend to let me stay with them at last minute instead of coming back here later in the evening. I wish I could get a refund as I was on site for a total of 20 minutes. Experienced backpacker here - Ladies, avoid this place.

This is THE BEST hostel I stayed at in New Zealand or Australia. It's clean! Yes even the kitchen. It's quiet. Mikala runs a tight ship, so there is no riff-raff. It's close to Roma station and a block from the grocery store. AND they let me crash here on a layover. Thanks so much! It's like home away from home.

Nice hostel with everything you need, and also a fridge in each room. Nice common area and nice swimming pool. Sadly the hostel was mostly empty because the guest are working. Washing machine is just cold water
