Not a good shopping experience.
This is a great little shop. Unfortunately I use a service dog.
On entering the store I was told that only small dogs were allowed in the store.
Next the owner told me to leave. When I tried to buy an item she told me she was allergic, and I had to leave the counter.
Federal ADA law, and Washington State law both protect the rights of the disabled, allowing the use of a service dog in any place of business the public is allowed.
Law allows asking 2 questions: "Is your dog a service dog," and has it been "trained to assist with your disability". It also states that you may not ask a disabled person to move because of allergies, or fear of dogs. I gave them the benefit of the doubt and tried to explain the law to the owners and employees.
I found it interesting that she is only allergic to large dogs, since they allow small dogs into the store. There were 3 or 4 other people available to check us out if she were truly allergic, and her allergies seemed to disappear when she wanted to hear what we were saying.
