"Leavenworth Down Under By official decree, all businesses in Leavenworth must conform to the ersatz-Alpine-chalet theme for their storefronts, and nowhere does this cause more cognitive dissonance than at the Australian gift shop. Agape Outback has a wide selection of Australian hats, western hats, leather coats, guns, and swords, along with plenty of Australian souvenirs and novelty items and some imported Australian food (including Marmite, of course). In the back, they also have women’s clothing and scarves. If you need a palate cleanser from all the Bavarian stuff in town, step into Agape and experience the Outback."

Heritage Service Dogs

Google
Not a good shopping experience. This is a great little shop. Unfortunately I use a service dog. On entering the store I was told that only small dogs were allowed in the store. Next the owner told me to leave. When I tried to buy an item she told me she was allergic, and I had to leave the counter. Federal ADA law, and Washington State law both protect the rights of the disabled, allowing the use of a service dog in any place of business the public is allowed. Law allows asking 2 questions: "Is your dog a service dog," and has it been "trained to assist with your disability". It also states that you may not ask a disabled person to move because of allergies, or fear of dogs. I gave them the benefit of the doubt and tried to explain the law to the owners and employees. I found it interesting that she is only allergic to large dogs, since they allow small dogs into the store. There were 3 or 4 other people available to check us out if she were truly allergic, and her allergies seemed to disappear when she wanted to hear what we were saying.

Went there last night looking for something specific. One of the older women working did nothing but complain to the other employees the whole time we were there about all of the customers who had come through, including a "stupid kid". I also heard several complaints about how little they sold. I asked to see something in a case at one point and while I was being shown, I heard the grouchy lady complain about how getting into the case was "hard on them". So I put the item back. They probably asked us 5 or 6 times if they could help us find something.. which made us feel unwelcome. Finally they asked us again, and said they were trying to close. Over an hour early. They should probably just close permanently because their prices are way too high for subpar merchandise anyway. Terrible service. I'd rate 0 stars if I could. We won't be back!

Brought our 60 lb dog in, was considering a purchase when a store clerk approached us to tell us we had to leave because she was too big. Noticed the "carried dogs only" sign on the way out, not posted on the side of the door not facing the sidwalk. Silly. The only people who had even noticed our dog before this point were the ones petting her.

The selection of merchandise varies from local (Leavenworth, WA) to Australian; clothes, hats; whimsical (here there be dragons) to fantasy (swords, knives, pistol replicas). Great place to windowshop, buy and plan for future purchases.

Interesting shop. I didn't really get Australian vibes from it though. And the staff isn't the friendliest - compared to the other shops in town.

This is a neat shop that's built for touristy stuff. There was more staff working then patrons in the store...lol.

Neat shop, has some cool things in it, some of the clothes are a little dated but still thought it was cool.
