I went in October to see the leaves change, this was one of the best priced lodgings in town! They have a restaurant downstairs. The lodge is old and not suitable for people in wheelchairs or walkers, there's a lot of steps. The room can with a microwave, small fridge and an fireplace that you can control the heat of. They have a continental breakfast in the morning which is much better than cheap motel ones! I didn't experience any of the negative things other reviewers experienced. The staff was friendly and happy to see our newborn!

Google
this is an old hotel with four flights of stairs and no elevator, including a long flight upstairs just to get to the front desk.|And then there are two more flights upstairs to the top floor so if you need an elevator, this ain't a hotel to stay in at all.|Prices were fair at about $150 a night.|The room was adequate not out of date. It was clean. The mattresses were good. It did have two areas in the main restroom with a sink outside the restroom, which is nice.|the office doesn't open till 8 o'clock in the morning and the snack lunch they offer is not available till 8 o'clock so if you're an early riser, you don't get any of the free food.|I wouldn't stay here again. |there has just gotta be better choices for that price range

Google
Positive: Location and convenience to the ski lifts Negative: The blinds were broken in window door which allowed outside view into my room. Fighting for parking with dining persons and had to move car once they left. Didn?t have priority parking for paid guests.

Google
excellent service from the staff, they have been very accommodating when we asked for a bigger room. the breakfast is quite limited, but the overall experience was very good, hot tub with view on the slopes and being able to ski in the hotel imakes all the difference.

Truly unsure where the pictures came from that were posted of the rooms. My husband and stayed here expecting a quaint, stylish, comfortable room. We were seriously misled by the advertising. We were placed on the 3rd floor which is usually not an issue, however there was no elevator and no assistance available for luggage assistance. The stairs to our room were narrow, steep and winding. The room itself was dated, dark and smelled musty. The bed linens were old and dated. The bathroom was basically a closet with a toilet, sink and shower with a shower curtain that had what appeared to be black mold at the bottom. There was a door to a small one person balcony without a view, but no steps attached should a fire escape be necessary. There was only a door knob lock on the bedroom door and no deadbolt. Yes, I am a cautious traveler and look for safety measures at the places I stay. On any other day I would have requested a refund and went elsewhere, however it was late and we had driven several hundred miles that day. Sleeping was definitely difficult and we left the Austria Hofhaus more tired than when we arrived.

We stayed there on 3 separate occasions, hiking in the area. There was something wrong and not working or missing in ALL the rooms we stayed in, one room was the same twice on separate dates and was even worse. Beware of the staff, most are fine but on man with grey hair, grasses and a pony tail, who seem some kind of manager, was extremely rude and arrogant and even shut the réception window in our face. I had email confirmation for all bookings for ONE room and for one night we were charged for two. When I pointed this out, he virtually called me a liar and said I had booked two. The jacuzzi was so hot on our first stay that it burnt my calves. When I Enquires with the same man if it was now less hot o our second stay, he rudely dismissed me and said he had put his hand in it and it was fine. Don't stay there, there is better. The worse customer service I have ever seen!

Google
The accommodation was adequate although there was some kind of minor fault in each room (lights not working etc). However, the worst aspect was the customer service. We booked a double room for a few days, however, for some reason the hotel took a booking for 2 double rooms for which we were charged. This was clearly an administrative error as our confirmation was only for one room. When we tried to resolve this error, the hotel receptionist (who I assume was the manager) was incredibly rude and arrogant, insisting that it was our mistake. He even shut the reception window in my face to cut off the conversation. The other staff we dealt with were fine.

Google
A quaint hotel but you need to be strong to get your suitcases up 2 to 3 flights of stairs with no help. Very close to ski fields for winter. Quiet are. Breakfast is a takeaway style. You can hear people in rooms through the walls and ceilings

Yelp
I've been coming here for apres/drinks for years, never thinking of staying as a guest in one of their rooms or condos (yes, they own or manage condos too?!). After staying here for one night, I'm sold -- I will definitely he back. I stayed in the hotel and not in the condos, so I have no idea how nice they are, but they are very reasonably priced. The hotel room I had was perfect for me (alone). I like more room and separation for me, so it might be a little cramped for 2+, but for me, it was perfect. I was thinking selfishly at first and didn't want to say more than "great place", because this place is a little gem. But, they deserve a glowing review. Parking is right next to Canyon Lodge, a short 3-5 min walk. My room had a view of the Mt and a balcony. Bed was perfect, similar to a temperpedic, which is great after 12-15 runs a day. Small hot tub on 2nd floor balcony and it can get a little noisy up until 9pm or so, but I was OK. Lockers at the front for your skis/boards. A couple of floors away from the bar and restaurant (food is VERY GOOD). No frills, but perfect for me. Shout out to Sebastian at the front desk - great customer service and overall nice guy. He also looks a little like Daniel Tosh and I kept reminding him of that. I'll be back for sure

Yelp
Clean, convenient rooms. Friendly staff. Nice quick grab and go breakfast. Bar underneath the lodge was a nice option Will stay here again

Laura K.

Yelp
Love this place! Accommodating and friendly bar, parking, etc. Lobby looks cozy and cute. SUPER close to Canyon Lodge. Worth the price to stay and walk to the lodge.

Matt H.

Yelp
Second time staying here the night before a backpack trip up in the lakes. The place is comfortable with a easy grab & go breakfast. During the ski season, it looks like it would be a good spot since it is close to the lifts, but balance that by having to drive to dinner.

Mara L.

Yelp
Austria Hof lodge is great! They have spa which all customers have access to. The only reason I gave the Austria Hof lodge 4 stars is because of the rooms. Some paint on the walls was peeling and a couple dark stains on the rug, and the corners on the walls had various different layers of paint peeling. Although, the beds were very comfy and there is not much traffic, making it easy to sleep well. The vibe was very cozy and calm. Will be coming back!

Yelp
Was up there this past week 8th. And 9th. Of February 2024. The staff is very friendly also if you ski or snowboard it's walking distance to Canyon Lodge. Rooms small but cute and bedding nice and comfortable. Happy hour starts at 4;00 and restaurant opens up at 5:00 the food is good once again awesome customer service with the food yummy

Irene M.

Yelp
The lodge itself is pretty average. I like how it's not on a crazy busy street so there aren't too many cars and people running around. There is a lift walkable distance from this lodge, unfortunately it was closed when we were there, but it was still pretty close to the mountain. I would def stay here again for my next trip!!

Melissa B.

Yelp
Parking very misleading at this place. Lacking proper signage. Charge $180 CASH to remove boot from truck. Lady at front desk was very rude. She even admit that many people pointed out it was misleading with the lack of signage.. They are very firm on cash only (). My guess is this is why they don't have proper signage. Beware!!!!!!!!

Lisa L.

Yelp
The rooms are pretty basic in this old hotel built to look like old Germany. There are no elevators either so walking up potentially 2-4 flights of stairs with your luggage can make you a bit winded. But, I really like staying in this hotel. There also is a jacuzzi to enjoy after a long day on the slopes. The front desk staff is very helpful, they offer a continental breakfast and during the ski season there is a great restaurant that has delicious food and a busy bar for your favorite drink. Room prices are reasonable for this ski in /ski out hotel but be mindful of the time of year you book. Once Canyon lodge closes, you can't walk to the slopes and the restaurant may not be open.

Yelp
I am very happy with my stay here. This was my first vacation in the whole year and due to the pandemic I had a few concerns which at Austria-Hof were well taken care of. Here are some things I liked about this place: 1. Cleanliness - their rooms are super clean and they wait 72 hours between guests so that's reassuring. 2. They have cancelled the breakfast buffet but keep. Few items for grab and go in the morning. They have fresh baked goods, burritos and usual packaged stuff. The fresh prepared food is very good and better than any hotel breakfast you get. 3. The checkin and checkout process was seamless and the guy at the desk helped us with every small detail. 4. The bar is generally open till late and they have distanced seating. The bartender is this super sweet lady. In all I loved every bit of my stay here and recommend it to everyone who is visiting Mammoth lakes.

Yelp
This is an adorable little lodge!! I stayed here recently for a brief trip. My room was on the third floor, and although I just about died while carrying my luggage up there, it was worth it. I guess they aren't joking about the thin air. My room had a little balcony that was like out of a cute, rom-com. The room itself was rather cozy too (but negative-nancys would just say it was "small"). But I loved it. And even though the bathroom was a bit "small," with no tub, it had an adorable mirror! And everything was super clean. See my pics. The lobby was also really cute and clearly had been updated, but the decor didn't really match the rest of the lodge--which was a bummer because I really liked the older, more unique "lodge" style. Overall I absolutely loved it and can't wait to return. I will also be trying the restaurant next time (hopefully) since this time it was closed down bc of Covid.

Joe L.

Yelp
We stayed at this hotel twice, First time was ok, but the second time in the same hotel one of our friend developed a rash over their entire body and is now concerned with the hygienic condition of the place.

Bri G.

Yelp
We ate at their restaurant and were blown away by the amazing service we received. Bennet and Katie ensured we had an immaculate experience. The food was absolutely delicious and Katie made an excellent wine recommendation. The restaurant was clean and the ambiance was perfect if you're looking for a down to Earth, relaxing, and enjoyable experience. 10/10

Yelp
Just stayed here for the first time. I am absolutely in love with this hotel. The location is literally a walk to canyon lodge. The rooms were a good size, super clean with comfortable beds and a nice European touch. Everyone that works here is so nice and so welcoming. Highly recommend

Tammy G.

Yelp
If you are lucky you will meet Kimberly at the front desk. I cannot convey what an amazing human being she is. I was completely distraught, cold and frustrated because we lost our car keys. Not only did she book us a room at a 10% discount for our hardship, but she also brought a charger to our room bc ours was locked in our car. She was so kind and understanding. In addition to the amazing humanness, we also have a comfy room to wait out our time until we can get in our car. Thank you so much for your kindness and wonderful lodging!! It's also so ridiculously close to Canyon Lodge!

Gordon W.

Yelp
The hotel was very warm, clean, the bed was super soft, friendly service. I love that this is walking distance from the canyon lodge. The food from the restaurant below is 5 star in my opinion. The only thing I request from the owner is that they start selling beer Steins with the Austria Hof bird logo on them ( like the Yodeler)

Yelp
Fiancé and I decided to stay here for a night on our way down to Vegas. On our way over 108, a truck had jack knifed itself in the road. It was about 7:00pm and I called in a panic thinking there was no way we would make it by 10:00pm when the desk staff leave! I was greeted warmly and explained everything I'd need to know if we did arrive late. We ended up getting around the truck (thank goodness we drove the 4Runner!) and we made it around 9:00pm! The lady I spoke with on the phone was the same one there to check us in! She was absolutely wonderful! We stayed in room 100, which is right next to the office area. I was a little nervous about noise in that spot, and you could definitely hear everything, but luckily it was before 10:00pm and after 8:00am, so we were already awake! It was close to the front door, so it was super convenient, though! The room itself was spacious, had a kitchenette, a gas fireplace, and a jacuzzi/whirlpool style tub! It was very clean and since we were en route to our wedding venue, the staff left a wonderful gift for us in the room! They even gave us some cold water to make sure we stayed feeling okay at the elevation! The hospitality really is above and beyond here! There was plenty of parking and it's in such a cute building. I recommend for anyone staying in the area!! You can't beat the warmth of the people there!

Yelp
3 star review for a 3 star hotel. Rooms have NO central heating yes you heard that right! They have a small 6 inch wall mounted heater which for Mammoth is ridiculous. Then the restaurant blasts music which shakes the room. Why is this necessary?! Also, the entire hotel smells of grease from the restaurant which permeates the rooms. "Breakfast" consists of yoghurt and a bran muffin.

Yelp
this 3 days was better than expected. we ended up with a great room... kitchenette, jetted tub, gas fireplace. bed was comfy, room was clean. the restaurant and bar downstairs is great. staff were very nice, Wally was awsome !! next fishing trip this is where we will be.

Jill G.

Yelp
We stay here all the time. It's such a great location. The staff that I've met has been really great. Kimberly and Larry at the front desk are so friendly and accommodating. They also have homemade banana bread in the morning for their guests. I look forward to staying here every time I come to Mammoth. Fantastic.

Yelp
So, if you've been to the restaurant/bar, it's much nicer than the room we stayed in. I got a discounted price from another site but it was on both Hotel Tonight and Hotwire but I don't remember which one I went with.. Pulling into the parking lot, I saw water raining down from a platform above--- it's the spa.. I think that's scary but I guess it's normal there because people were in the hot tub and staff were around taking a smoke break not really concerned about this raining down effect. I go up some stairs to check in-- you're allowed one car in the parking lot. I didn't know this. We have two cars but since it's not the busy snow season, it wasn't a problem for us to have two. It's also a bear area so no leaving anything in the car that would attract a bear. The room-- well, it's the kind of room that you kinda just say hey.. it'll do. Bed, TV, nightstands, a little table and chairs.. stuffy. The closet and fridge were in the bathroom. We could hear the neighbors coughing.. But, that was our room. It was 103 on the ground floor and so I'm not sure if the other rooms were different other than having to drag your things upstairs. Restaurant and bar onsite-- not really vegan friendly. I had a salad but Nyssa RAVED about her wienershnitzel. Complimentary breakfast was also included. There were burritos with instructions to microwave, sliced bread, deli meat, hardboiled eggs, cereal, instant oatmeal, muffins, cranberry and OJ..

Yelp
Austria Hof is conveniently located at the Canyon Lodge portion of Mammoth. It's a ski in, ski out lodging arrangement during winter months. I, unfortunately, came during spring and didn't get to enjoy the ski in, ski out experience. I paid around $130/night. This was super reasonable considering the convenient location and free breakfast each morning. I also really enjoyed using the hot tub both nights of my stay. The trolly stops by every thirty minutes and can take you around Mammoth for free, including the Village. Prices can go up into the $300s during peak season. Like many other places in Mammoth, Austria Lof has an older 80's feeling to it. There was peeling wallpaper, older furniture, but nothing that would ruin your overall stay. Don't expect too much out of breakfast. I had some bagel, cream cheese, mini breakfast burritos, boiled eggs, ham and cheese for breakfast. Not bad. Not great. The low point of my stay was when the thermostat in my room broke. It was a huge inconvenience. We had the staff come in multiple times. There were multiple calls. A portable loud mini heater was provided to us. After a few hours, our thermostat was finally replaced and running again. When we were asked, "What can be done to make this right?", we quickly learned there wasn't much that can be done without the owner Joe giving the okay for everything. Nothing was done for the inconvenience, expect to get the thermostat running again. I would have expected at least a small comp towards our visit or a future visit. I didn't love how the staff handled this, but I guess your expectations should be lower at this local mom and pop type lodge. Larry at the front desk was super friendly and helpful. Although I had mixed feelings about Austria Hof, it was a positive experience overall and I would return.

Kristy R.

Yelp
Love love this place! Reminded me of being in Europe! Quietly located on the top of the road with footsteps to the lift. We came here as a stop on a road trip. Due to Covid unfortunately the restaurant wasn't open neither was the hot tub. We had a double queen room that was spacious with a balcony, comfy beds and big enough bathroom. Price was reasonable too. Loved sitting in the balcony taking in the outdoors. Located less than a mile from the village! Breakfast provided an amazing banana bread (that was a small piece of heaven), yogurt, fruit and juice. Maybe if I could give advice after staying in many hotels during this time would be to add a hard boiled egg to breakfats. Other than that the stay was perfect! Definitely recommend.

Yelp
Great location, walking distance to Canyon Lodge (when Canyon Lodge parking lot is full and Austria Hof isn't a lot of people will pay just to park here). Excellent bar/restaurant downstairs (see other review). The hotel itself is just OK. They have definitely done some upgrades over the years, the rooms are good sized, but generally a little old and lived in. The sound barriers are non-existent. You can hear people talking in their rooms, you can hear other peoples TVs. We got a room right next to the stairs last time, and you will be woken up by all the skiers stomping down the stairs in their boots. Overall all though, this is a decent place to stay, mainly because of location. You can park your car at check-in, then just use the shuttles that come in and out of Canyon Lodge to get around town. They plow the parking lot a couple times a day when its snowing. The staff has always been really friendly. They have snow shovels you can borrow after a storm to dig out. I've stayed here a couple times over the last decade. Would definitely consider staying here again!

Arch A.

Yelp
Nice room, they upgraded many things since the lodge was built. Comfortable bed, TV & WiFi worked fine. Always like having an iron in the room, so we can unwrinkle. If you just want a bed and shower, you'll be fine here. However. This lodge does not represent itself accurately on booking sites. I clicked a room that distinctly said MOUNTAIN VIEW. Then I got an email that confirmed I booked a MOUNTAIN VIEW. Upon entering the room, we were literally looking at a wall outside our window. It was like a movie scene where you can't believe anyone would think they could get away with such blatant fraud unless it's some kind of comedy prank. The man at the desk gave a rehearsed, monotone reply that you could fertilize a crop field with, and I could tell he had used before: "Oh well, we don't actually guarantee that any room has a mountain view." THEN IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO ENSURE YOUR DESCRIPTIONS ARE ACCURATE ON HOTELS.COM, EXPEDIA, ORBITZ, etc. On each of these sites -- and I double-checked all, that mountain view is listed plain as day on about half the rooms, but nowhere does it say it's not guaranteed once you arrive. I still have the email that says "Mountain view" right on it. He could not have cared less. We wanted to leave but had been in the car for 7 hours. We get into the room, and the fireplace didn't work. Guy comes in to repair it. Fine. They also advertised continental breakfast, which has now been canceled -- we appreciated that info up front, but why was the price the same if "breakfast included" was no longer breakfast included?? Told us they would have muffins at 8am. I said we like to be up and out hiking by 7, could we maybe have the packaged muffins in the evening? No, he said, only at 8am. Good grief. What's the difference if you hand me an item at 8am or 8pm? So basically, we paid for it being not "included" except at their convenience. We had planned to eat at their restaurant when we finished our hike, but decided to skip it. No way were they getting one more cent of our money. Shame too, because it looks like a good menu, but we will never know. If I could leave zero stars, I would. But in order to leave a review, I have to pick one star. Obviously will not return.

Cyndie C.

Yelp
Stayed here on our way to drive across the Tioga Pass. The room was adequate but not spacious. They were very COVID conscious. No breakfast but they provided banana bread, fruit, yoghurt, and juice in a go bag and fresh brewed coffee in the lobby. Major problem is arriving to high altitude, having to climb a flight of stairs to reach the lobby, and having to drag luggage upstairs as well. No elevator. Also wasn't sure there was ac as there was a ceiling fan and an extra box fan in the closet. A very old hotel with some style in a very convenient skiing location, but not great outside of ski season. Also the restaurant was closed while we were there.

Rainy P.

Yelp
The front desk went above and beyond with service. Roads were closed to Mammoth due to a big storm that rolled thru, and they called to encourage us not to drive up. They offered a full refund or opportunity to reschedule. Very impressed. Knowing the level of service and excellent location, we will absolutely rebook our next trip here.

Krystel F.

Yelp
Booked the wrong dates accidentally on booking.com and called to see about a refund and changing dates. I called and spoke the manager on duty and was instantly greeted by a man ready to "tell me what to do". As I tried to get out a sentence about being charged already I was rudely cut off by him telling me that he was the one holding my money and unless I was ready to do exactly what I was told that's how it would remain. I responded by reminding him that he was in the business of customer service and he seemed to not give one second of effort. Glad I accidentally booked the incorrect dates and am glad to lose them measly $102 to not ever have to come in contact with a man who still hasn't learned how to speak to paying customers yet.

Vivi N.

Yelp
Coming from PA, I was unaware of how much the forest fire had spread when I booked a night here at this cute lodge on 9/14/20. The lodge closed at 10p and I arrived at 11p when no one was there. But the hosts had left me a sealed envelope with our room keys! It was kind of them to welcome me after ours but the smoke was too much and I had to leave. I emailed Joe Mueller and he responded promptly the next day getting me a FULL REFUND! I'm thankful that he was understanding and I did not have to fight for it. Sad I couldn't stay but I'll try again at a better time for sure!

Billy H.

Yelp
My stay at the Austria Hof lodge can be perfectly described as, "Ok." My partner and I stayed for 3 nights. It was one of the cheapest options available in Mammoth at the time of our booking, so that definitely gives them some points. I'm not too familiar with Mammoth and did not do proper research to recognize the ski lift that is walking distance from here would be closed (we came primarily to snowboard). I would only come back in the future if the nearby ski lift was open. Otherwise, I would definitely opt for something closer to town. Overall, the room was very average. My chief complaint is about our toilet. It smelled absolutely disgusting. After sitting on it for more than 30 seconds your nose was assaulted with the clear smell of an unclean toilet. You know, that old, dirty urine smell? It was pretty gross. The bed was also super lumpy and uncomfortable and the fridge does not have a freezer. Honestly, I wouldn't mention the latter two issues based on the price we paid, but the dirty toilet was something I've never experienced, even at a budget hotel. Lastly, I give 3 stars because Jo Louise, who appears to work the front desk in the morning, is an absolute gem. My interactions with her were always very kind, warm, and welcoming. However, my interactions with the older man with long hair (I think he actually may be the owner or manager) were not stellar. I came down to purchase a sprite and a water from the front desk and saw a sign that said the front desk person has stepped away and to call a certain number from the nearby phone. So, I did this and was greeted with a gruff, "Hello." I said to inquired to the man on the other end whether there was someone in the hotel to help me or if they were off the property (which would be completely understandable since this place is pretty small). His answer was, "Well, I answered the phone, so obviously I'm here, right?" This just really rubbed me the wrong way. How am I supposed to know if the extension doesn't lead to a cellphone? Like, it's 2021 my man, I have no idea where this phone's extension leads to. He then proceeded to come downstairs and sold me the water and sprite (which was pretty ridiculous at $3.75 for both) and just had a generally bad attitude. Overall, all of the staff I interacted with at this place was super cool, nice, and welcoming. But to the older man with the long gray hair, who again I think may be the owner, no, it is not obvious when I call an extension that it means you are at the hotel. Again, if you see this, please let me know how I would have any idea where that extension leads to. That whole interaction just left a sour taste in my mouth, especially everyone else working at Austria Hof was so kind and friendly. Edit- the owner, Joseph, reached out to me and the person who provided me bad service was not actually him. I stand by my review, but I'm going to upgrade to 4 stars because I appreciate an establishment that follows up. Just clean those toilets, please!!

Chris C.

Yelp
Let me first start out and say that the Austria Hof is not a bad option for lodging. My family and I would NOT stay here again when coming to Mammoth. We did end up checking out a night early as another night didn't seem like a good idea (only booked a two night stay, and went home after one night). Our experience below; Check in- easy enough, condo was ready and getting checked in was easy. Our small condo was close enough, we parked and unloaded. Condo was clean and we unpacked. After a long drive we wanted to relax and hang out for a bit and enjoy a fire in the fire place that is in the living room. We didn't have much wood in the condo and I didn't know where to find more. I went back to the lobby and asked about wood, and we needed to request more pillow cases as there were long black hairs on the originals. The host gave me a key to the wood locker and exchanged the pillow cases. I went back to the locker and there was no wood? I called the front desk and the host said that I could go buy some at the store? Not an accommodating or concerned response- seemed annoyed that I was asking. The kids wanted to watch a DVD- so after agreeing on a movie we tried to get the DVD player to work- after about 20 minutes of us trying to get it up and running with no success, we called the front desk. The host answered and I explained our dilemma, he said very quickly, "it's on the sheet that was given to you about your room". I had explained that we couldn't find anything on the sheet regarding the DVD etc... he replied with "I honestly have no idea".... After hanging up, I thought that I could hook up the wifi on the iPad and we could watch a movie there. While sitting on the couch, there was a laminated sheet with the wifi code. I grabbed it and proceeded to try the code. It didn't work, and we tried on all the devices for about 10 minutes. I did not want to call the front desk after the last experience, because I already knew the answer. We did figure out later in the evening that the laminated sheet code was different than the sheet that was given to us at check in. Confusing to say the least. You have two options for heat in your room. Fire place or built in small wall heaters. We chose the wall heaters. These are loud, only a high and low setting and are loud. Slept about 3 hours the first night as the beds were uncomfortable and. The heaters are loud. In the morning I went to check out the free breakfast that is advertised. Frozen toaster waffles, cold cereal, instant oatmeal and hard boiled eggs. If this is your thing- all is good. There was a young man that was working the breakfast. He was very unfriendly and seemed very annoyed with the guests and the job of restocking the food and coffee etc. We wanted to enjoy the jacuzzi at the condo complex and got everyone suited up. It was cold out but a quick walk to the jacuzzi only to find that the door was locked and our key wouldn't work. We walk back and I again called the front desk. A woman answered and I explained the issue. She said, "well, if the key doesn't work- then the jacuzzi is closed". I explained that our trusty sheet said that the jacuzzi opened at 10am. It was well past 10. She replied "oh you're at the condos, then you're right". Then she said, "actually, I think they open later.... I manage 4 different condo properties, I don't know what time they all open". It wasn't that she didn't know, it was that she was rude and it sounded like this was an annoying question. We decided as a family that one more night didn't sound like a fun time and that we should brave the 6 hour drive home. Unfortunate that losing 350.00 and coming home from a holiday sounded better than staying at a small resort in a beautiful resort town. I went to check out- and the host was nice enough. There was no question about our stay, or why we were leaving early. I wasn't expecting someone to ask why we were leaving early- but I was perplexed that there was no ask about how our stay was. This was a busy weekend, and the conditions are unreal for ski/boarding etc... I'm hoping that this was an isolated incident and it sounds like others have had a great time here at the Austria Hof. I also understand that these condos are managed by Austria Hof, so there are many variables to each room. The customer service could be much better etc. We will pass on this place and try something different. Thanks for reading.

Yelp
Just stayed here the last few nights. The front desk was great and helpful. The room wasn't anything fancy. I found a black glove under the bed, which was unsettling. I wasn't ready for service when they came, so no one did service the room. It's very old and needs updating, but it's fine for a decent night sleep.

Yelp
Omg ! This business owner has bad intentions and complaining on the people who stay with them to the booking sites. Words are powerful and if a business doesn't adhere to the reviews then their business will go down for sure. Customer service is absolutely zero in this place and then they complain about how the customer did not know to use hair dryer when they have unusable stuff in the room that is to be thrown away. The bed spread had bubbled lint coming out and itching me the whole night. We obviously closed the curtains in this non AC room that had so much bad smell so that we can get some privacy as people were walking around and making noises early in the morning. I am taking time to write this and educate others to not book at this place, otherwise the owner will complain you to the booking.com or hotels.com wherever you booked. Such people need not be treated sweetly when they are so rude to the customer showing no appreciation! No ethics ! Ashamed to hear such a response from Joseph M, business owner - make the service better and respectable for the price that customers pay. Don't just emphasize your flaws and greedy intentions - make yourself right and the business right! My two cents of feedback to you to improve at least now. The bathroom door in 105 has all the paints that's come off and we paid $169 for the night stay (BS shitty place) Michael was considerate telling you about scratches and requested you to help us with good customer service but you guys showered us with your greedy behavior and we had to ask for our rights and it's pretty legit and nothing to really whine about so much for nothing! DO NOT book this shitty place ever again. Forget the place, it's the people that make it even worse. Zero ethics! See all the other reviews below, others are also saying the same thing!

Yelp
The lobby and room Smelled like rotting fish, scratches were all over the bathroom door, no AC, place was a dumpster dive. Sudan has better hotel rooms. Nice owner. You gave me 10% bc it was the least you could do with your shoddy rotting facilties. This hotel is in shambles and as impotent as you are.

Yelp
Be aware they charge you the first night plus tax if you decided to cancel reservation even the next day. I reserved the room 3 weeks in advance and changed my mind the next day cause my plans were changed on that dates. After a long conversation with the hotel representative, they don't want to make a refund. So If you made a reservation by mistake or for any other reason just forget about your money. Use trusted services with good reviews and avoid scams. Absolutely bad impression even without visiting.

Yelp
A nice hotel. It's not fancy, but clean with good amenities. No air con, but there is a window, and a door onto a shared balcony that lets in the pleasant mountain air. It's at the end of a road, close to a ski lift. During the summer, this makes it a quiet spot. Shops and dining are close by. The room contains a microwave and mini fridge (in the closet, not a problem for me), and a table fan. The bathroom was a decent size with good water pressure in the shower. A simple breakfast - hardboiled eggs, yogurt, bread (like banana or pumpkin), whole fruit, and coffee is available each morning. The staff was polite. There is no elevator, so not a hotel for those who can't climb stairs. It's a good place to come back to after a day adventuring. I'd stay there again.

Yelp
Just checked in and this place is NOT what it seems. Over priced for what feels like a motel 6. The pictures online are very misleading. Will not be returning. Update: to make matters worse, when I took a bath there was someone else's hair in there and white stains on one of the decorative pillows.

Yelp
Rented a condo for our two day stay in Mammoth. It was right across from the lodge check in. It was quiet and well updated inside the condo. We had a cool little balcony overlooking the pool too. Only complaint from the kiddos was there wasn't a "guide" for the TV. The hall ways up to the condo seemed a little outdated but it was well worth it for having our own little space! We were coming in late and they had everything set up for us too. Great hospitality!

Yelp
Found this place through orbitz. Our room was nice. A bit dated but found out that they were updating before COVID happened. I loved the fireplace in the room and the bed was extremely comfortable. The staff Walter and Sheena were very friendly and helpful! The homemade banana bread was amazing! I did appreciate the small details of having qtips and cotton balls in the restroom and the fan in the closet. The only complaint that I did have was the water pressure was a bit low in the shower and the pillows were a little flat. I was sad that the restaurant was closed but definitely looking forward to coming back to try it when it opens. We will definitely be coming back to this hotel!

Yelp
Love staying here, 5 stars! The condo we stayed in was so cozy and wonderful. The front desk woman, Sheena, went above and beyond in getting us sorted out and accommodating our many requests. Thank you Sheena and Austria Hof staff!

Yelp
We stayed across the street from this place during a recent ski trip. Did not have food, just came for the bar. Well appointed Alpine style place with a down honey feel. Seems like the locals love the casual nature of this place. We came before dinner two nights in a row and easily found seats but the bar was far from empty. Bartender Shawn remember our aces and our drink order f m the night before. We were all impressed. He took good care of us. A full bar with heavy handed bartenders is a perfect combo for a ski trip warm up spot. Would definitely return. Next time to try the food and to see what the hotel is like.

Yelp
Had an amazing stay here. The owner was very sweet and kind. Very comfortable rooms, the water pressure was good. Beautiful views all around. Just had a great stay here. 10/10. Very clean as well.

Yelp
We stayed here from Saturday of MLK weekend through the next Wednesday. Convenience is great: across parking lot from Canyon Lodge. A short drive to Village restaurants. Parking is pretty good: they monitor it well. We had two queens for family of 4. Enough room. Beds pretty comfortable. Fridge and coffee maker. Wi-Fi. View of snowy hill. One hot tub. A little cozy if crowded. But, it seemed to always work out for us. Great view of Mountain. One word of caution: steps are super slippery in snow season. No elevator. You do have to carry stuff up. But, c'est la vie. We had carry-on size luggage and small coolers. Not too bad. Jerry at front desk is great! Fun to talk with. Very nice. The bar and restaurant downstairs are soooo fun! See separate review for restaurant. I would definitely return!!! Great place!!!

Yelp
My boyfriend and I stayed here a few weeks ago so my review is a bit late but I still wanted to detail my experience. Our stay was excellent and def will be back the rooms are quiet n relaxing and above all very clean, after a long drive my boyfriend and I were very hungry and wanted to start our getaway and the restaurant / bar was everything we were looking for good food good beer and great service ! Overall I would definitely always stay here when coming to mammoth convienently located near town quiet but so lively at the restaurant/ bar . I would give this lodge ten stars if I could !

Yelp
I can see why people would reserve this place during winter time. It is ski in/ski out and I can see people dealing with the poor quality of the rooms for that reason. During summer months I would stay away from this place!!! The rooms are poorly kept, no AC (room was so hot and uncomfortable we couldn't sleep), black mold on the ceilings and our view was of a cement wall. Not to mention we upgraded the room!!! I can't imagine what our previous room would have looked like. If I could give this place 0 stars I would. Beyond awful! One of the worst places I've stayed. Please stay away regardless of season.

Yelp
This location is superb. Stayed here solo for the first time in late January 2018. Lift 7 is a short 4 minute walk away. Larry is a very kind and helpful staff member at the front desk. He helped with directions, good eats, where to get lift tickets, and late night free transport. Their continental breakfast is great! The bar staff is fun. You can not go wrong ordering anything off the menu. Made new friends every night at the bar that stayed at the same location. Rooms are standard , what was expected. Decor is a bit dated. I had access to a balcony. Room and hotel is kept warm. Locker is provided for ski or snowboard. Parking on site. Never had to drive anywhere due to great free transportation available. There was always fresh fruit and ice water in front lobby for guests. Definitely will stay here next time. Thanks to the Austria Hof staff who made it a pleasant stay.

Yelp
We haven't stayed there yet - Had to cancel because Mammoth Mountain lifts closed. But we will definitely re-book because of the service they gave on the phone when we called to cancel. The woman I spoke to was friendly, accommodating and compassionate! What more can you ask for in these frustrating times! Bravo!

Yelp
Very old building. No air conditioning and even with overcast weather it was so hot and unbearable. Could not sleep. Jetted tub is just a regular bathtub with some jet power. Not what we expected. There is no microwave in the room. No bbq area. Customer service was okay. Next time we will get an Airbnb.

Yelp
First time not camping in mammoth and this hotel had the best rates. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. We were only planning to stay for 2 nights but stayed 4 in total. We asked last minute to stay longer and both nights the staff was able to work with us and even gave us a discount. Our hotel had a mini fridge, stove, sink as well as utensils to cook a whole meal which was surprising but very convenient. We also had a jetted tub which was very nice. Rooms are a little outdated with no central air but we were perfectly fine with that. Spent almost every night at the bar in the hotel and also ate at their restaurant, everything was fantastic great food and happy hour menu! Overall we had no major complaints and really enjoyed our time here. We would definitely stay here again and recommend to our friends! :)
