Auténtico Hotel

Last week, I spent one night on my arrival at San José and left early the next morning, then a few days later returned for a three-day stay on my way out of the country. Both times, my room was very comfortable and clean. The restaurant serves a full menu, although short on vegetarian options and gluten-free breads and pastas. The free breakfast buffet was varied and included enough items to meet the above restrictions. Every staff member I interacted with, from Ana in Reception to breakfast and dinner restaurant staff to cleaning staff, was very friendly, polite, and accommodating. The pool area was very attractive, and I enjoyed sunbathing for a few minutes during the cool winter temperature. The only drawback would be for people who like to explore the surroundings at night, as the location is mainly industrial and dark. I walked during the day twice and felt safe, but I wouldn't go out once it was dark. I'd definitely return to this hotel.

Giving this hotel a 3.8 Hinge rating (Scale 0-5)|There are 81 rooms in this three story structure, and it was built around 50 years ago. The rooms are wraped around a central pool / loby / resturant / bar.|Room was a nice King bed, but with no blanket. AC heat pump works great but the heat is questionable. |Tap water is safe in the city, and we were told in all areas we will be visiting..|Water and ice are available next to the elevator, and glass containers in the room to refill. |Shower was nice and warm. |All power is 110 V so no 220 converters are needed in this country.|Had dinner in the hotel and the food was very good and very inexpensive compared to US cost.

Stayed here at the beginning and end of our tour of Costa Rica. Friendly English speaking reception, and clean, comfortable rooms - although ours was huge with 2 king-size beds, it didn't have a chair. Excellent restaurant, with a comprehensive menu and very good quality food at reasonable prices, residents also getting a 29 percent discount on the bill. Good breakfast with omelette chef. Small swimming pool but a pleasant area to relax. Approximately 2 km to the central shopping area, Central Market, Cathedral etc. Definitely recommend for a few days.

Our local friend recommended this place. Good choice to start and end our trip. They serve authentic Costa Rican breakfast. They have restaurant and swimming pool. Great value for location and service . They have their own parking place. Friendly staff make check-in and checkout process smooth.

We were on a group tour with Intrepid. We started off the tour at the Auteńtico Hotel and ended it at the same. First we were in room 104 then 106. The noise from the road kept us awake most of the night. In hindsight, I should have upgraded. Therefore, that is what I suggest you do if you stay at the Auteńtico Hotel.

Unexpected gem after travelling through Central America for 5 weeks. This hotel feels more like a mini resort after you have been travelling for weeks. It's a great place to relax before boarding the long haul flights home.

Worst experience we’ve had. Group of people are partying and making terrible lot of noise till late in the night, without the hotel staff doing anything about it. We paid for a good hotel, but got a party hostel experience in return. The hotel staff was very rude to us when we complained. In the end, we had to start an argument with the group of people ourselves to let them stop. Apart from this, our room smelled like an open sewer. Update: Thanks for this standard reply that has been given to all negative reviews; as you should understand, this doesn’t solve a thing for us. We feel completely scammed by your so-called 4 star hotel.

Wacht out! This is nothing more than a party hostel for groups of children! Who make a lot of noice and run around your rooms! You pay 130euro for a hostel experience! The frontdesk dont do anything about it because it are guest to. But let them play in there room not in front of ouwer room! We booked this experience to go fly back in rest. Not in this environment. They need to shame thereself! Costa Rica is a great experience, but this place omg unbelievable.!!! Besides that the bathroom smels like a open sewer! :(.
