We enjoyed our stay in Avignon at Aux Augustins- Austins 1261- (aka The Cloister of the Augustinians). We stayed in the John XXII apartment. It was on the second floor up a quick flight of stairs from the courtyard. The apartment was well equipped with a King bed, a few sitting chairs, an in room A/C unit and a full kitchenette. We particularly enjoyed having a glass of wine on the small attached balcony with two chairs and a table. We enjoyed a continental breakfast each day with fresh croissants, homemade yogurt and fruit and coffee. The apartment is located in a nice residential area with lots of cafes and restaurants nearby. There is also a mini grocery just a block up which was great for grabbing water and other snacks. We had a car but ended up parking it in the garage that Patrick has for a small extra charge, if you need to park be sure to arrange ahead of time as there are limited spaces. It turns out there is a train from Avignon station to Arles that runs almost every other hour and only takes 15 minutes - so the location in Avignon made for a good central spot to explore the region. We also did a wine tour with Francois of Avignon Wine Tours which was excellent and a lot of fun. We would stay again at Aux Augustins - but would probably elect to do so without a car since the location is central inside the old city walls. We loved the beautiful courtyard which is full of plants and the views of the historic bell tower. Patrick was a great host and made us comfortable from the moment we arrived. Note they also own and operate a sister property that is more of bed and breakfast - they are adjacent but not the same. The apartments were larger with kitchenettes,

Augustins is a former monastery stylishly decorated with antiques and art. It is convenient to Avignon’s sites, restaurants, and stores . Patrick is warm and welcoming. There is a delicious breakfast inside or in the sweet garden in good weather. Paid parking is nearby , but free parking is available outside the walls by hopping on a free and frequent shuttle bus. We loved our stay and would go back.

Patrick and Sabine are excellent hosts and take great pride in maintaining these rooms with their beautiful courtyard at the highest standards. They provide a good map, directions to free parking and suggestions on where to eat, what to do and how to get around. I recommend whole-heartedly!

My husband and I had the pleasure of staying at Aux Augustins on our first trip to France. Our genial hosts, Sabine and Patrick, assisted us every step of the way, from making dinner reservations at the wonderful Le Barrio as well as providing us transportation to and from the airport. The location of the hotel was perfect and we were delighted to experience the Saturday market right outside the front door. Our comfortable room was accessed through a beautiful, well cared for courtyard where one could sit and reflect on the day with a lovely glass of Rose. There are many restaurants nearby but I recommend you arrange for breakfast at the hotel ahead of time, especially on a Sunday morning.

Our host, Sabine was very helpful and welcoming. The location is central yet away from the throngs of tourists.|I loved my attic room with roof top patio and view of ancient church tower. We had a delicious dinner at the bistro across the street.|A beautiful historic property with sensitive renovations. Our stay definitely enhanced our experience in Avignon.

It was a privilege to stay in this immaculate, charming and tastefully renovated guest house located in what was once a 13 Century monastery within the walls of the historic city of Avignon. There are several good choices of rooms and suites and we had everything we needed at our fingertips. We so enjoyed the lovely courtyard in the center of the property. Owners, Sabine and Patrick were kind, helpful and welcoming and we so enjoyed being within walking distance to wonderful restaurants and historic locations. We especially enjoyed stepping out of the front door of the guest house to visit the market that offered beautiful flowers we enjoyed all week, delicious foods and crafts. Parking is available if needed as well as lots of good advice for your stay. We loved our stay her and will return.

My wife and I had a great time here. Sabine and Patrick who run the place are very friendly and helpful. We had the attic room, which does have very low ceilings as they mention on their website, but the private terrace with a view of a 14th-century tower is amazing. The room and common areas were all very clean, and the private courtyard, which the attic room overlooks, was nice and quiet which I really enjoyed because the streets can get quite noisy on the weekends. If we’re ever in Avignon again, we would definitely stay here.

We spent 14 nights in a two-room apartment that has a small kitchen, a charming balcony and a bathroom with good shower fixtures at Aux Augustins in Avignon. Sabine and Patrick, owners, were extremely helpful, friendly and they gave me so much help I will always remember their kindness and hospitality with great fondness. Those 14 days were among the best of our 26-day journey to France and the hotel was by far the most comfortable. Thank you Sabine and Patrick!
