visited Aux Merveilleux de Fred today, and it was such a lovely experience! You can really see the hard work that goes into their bakery — everything is made fresh every day, and the quality shows. The customer service was warm and attentive, which made the visit even better. The seating area is spacious and calm, and I loved how people were simply enjoying their food quietly, creating a peaceful atmosphere. I went for a pickup order because I love their chocolate chip brioche and plain brioche. The first time I tried them was on Teacher Appreciation Day, and ever since then they’ve become my absolute favorites. The taste even reminds me of the “double roti” from back home in India — soft, comforting, and nostalgic! 😅 Overall, a wonderful bakery with delicious products and a great vibe. Can’t wait to go back!

It was on my top list to visit because of aesthetics I came across and the beautiful looking croissants. It was really flaky and buttery and had such beautiful texture. Other than I tried a sandwich not a fan of that but the latte was really good. The vibe of the place is a very French like and they have stunning glass displays of all the items they have on menu.

NYC Christmas Café Vibes in Toronto? 🎄☕️ Passing by The Marvellous Fred, I was pulled in by their beautiful pastry display. The space feels luxurious and feminine, with Christmas touches that gave me full NYC café vibes. Order: Flat White (whole milk) – $4.60 Tasting Notes: Caramel scent, flat acidity, high sweetness, smooth, lingering sweet finish and caramel flavor. Verdict: Not my favorite cup of coffee. The lack of complexity and high sweetness leaves room for improvement. Despite this, it pairs well with the desserts.

We stopped by to try their famous chocolate cramique as well as their little brioche buns with chicken. Overall very tasty, the buns are so fluffy and fresh. Customer service is very nice and the place is quaint with a Parisian feel. Definitely recommend and would come back!

Ordered a croissant and two of these delicious round chocolate truffles of yum. 5-Star experience. The place is busy but worth the wait. We luckily grabbed the last seat and chowed down on our desserts for brunch. Love that they take such pride in their baked goods. It's incredibly fresh and we loved everything on the menu.

I found a nice coffee spot in Toronto, the pastries are delicious, though a bit smaller than at other places. The shop was clean, and the coffee was excellent.

Tasty little treats and baked goods. Amazing interior with a very nice comfortable atmosphere. You can see into the bakery where some of the baked goods are made. Very friendly staff. Fresh items throughout the day. Clean facility. Clean washrooms. No credit card surcharge. Very expensive for items.

A truly unique French bakery with amazing flavors. The meringue Marvelous cakes and pastries are absolutely delicious, and the prices are quite reasonable. A must-try spot in Toronto, I highly recommended!

Well I got a GC for Xmas for this place and all the reviews I read said you must try their meringue dessert so for $24.50 you can get a 6 pack sampler box. That and their brioche is good. I ordered 1 plain as they were out of raisin. Anyways the meringues did not disappoint if you like crunchy meringue and soft mousse, you'll love these almost melt in your mouth slightly crunchy delights. I would definitely recommend! Though not cheap!

Happened to be going past thru this corner for TIFF & their beautiful food display and cafe decor caught my eye. So happy for my full stop because their mini sandwiches (bunwich?) are absolutely delightfully delicious! I went for their smoked salmon, chicken curry and goat cheese minis and ALL were great (I favoured the 1st two). And when we made our return after our movie, we went for the pair of their ultra light dessert of mini cream covered meringues. What a pleasant unplanned treat! I still think about those mini sandwiches... so it's guaranteed I'll return to one of their locales ( find me on Instagram via @aida.loves )

If you are into light fluffy desserts then check this place. Interior looks very elegant and clean with a wide selection of pastries. I try to get a bit of everything when I come here. I especially enjoy their toasty almond croissant. With many people behind the counter, service is relatively quick and efficient.

Still love their meringue. Not a huge fan on their overly sweet and cold almond chocolate croissant though. Raisin buns are good. Really nice staff. Solid spot.

Ordered the chocolate and raisin brioche to go. Very packed on a cold Sunday afternoon. The chocolate was dark I believe and was not too sweet. The brioche was fluffy as well and not overly buttery.

Friendly service but selection is very limited and, when we visited on Sun evening, they only had some brooches, chocolate bread, and merengue left. We got a slice of chocolate bread (huge) and cherry merengue (tiny), both were ok.

We were passing by when my husband saw the sandwiches from the large windows and wanted to grab a late lunch. He got the chicken curry sandwich, which he said was a flavourful fusion with the tomato. It was a prominent but not overwhelming curry, with a very creamy texture. Our daughter picked out the colourful merveilleux. This was our first time trying these French cakes, and I originally thought they were truffles. They were light and flavourful. The cafe is beautiful, very modern and chic decor, the enormous chandelier. Service was prompt and friendly. It's a shame they don't have free wifi, it would be a lovely place to grab lunch while working.

Popped in here for a little snack while walking around. Ordered a mini smoked salmon and dill cream sandwhich and a coffee merveilleux (sp?) which turned out to be a tower of crispy outside and soft inside meringue with crunchy toppings. Logistics: - indoor seating only; if you plan to eat here perhaps set your bag on your table before ordering to save a spot in the busy cafe! - limited street parking nearby but very transit accessible - vegetarian options; not sure if meringue is GF or not

I've walked past this place many times, and today I went in for my lunch break. There are a number of sandwich options all on the same bread and cut in half. I got the smoked salmon sandwich, which came on a really soft, slightly sweet milk bun with herbed cream cheese, cucumbers, and smoked salmon inside it was a little bit on the pricier, your side for what it was but still a really delicious sandwich overall. I was pleasantly surprised with how soft and delicious the bun was. The inside had their pastries and sandwiches on display with some tables and seats around the restaurant and the staff was nice.

I've been walking past this place since they opened a few years ago and I finally decided to try some of their pastries. Unfortunately it was hugely underwhelming. The croissant seemed like it had been sitting for hours and the lamination was not the best. It reminded me of Costco croissants. It's often very busy and there's no room for sitting. The cashier was very quick and not the most friendly. I might try some of their other desserts but probably not anytime soon.

The brioche is okay. I prefer the raisin bread brioche over the plain one. I think it doesn't justify the $6.80 price. The chocolate bread is just so-so. I have not tried anything else but the two and I wouldn't buy those 2 things if I decide to try it again.

We stomped upon this store after dinner one day and decided to try it out since it was still busy with a few customers. We tried their meringue and coffee waffle thinking that it will be really good since they are on the more pricy side. We were pretty disappointed by both, the coffee waffle had no crunch to it, it tasted like soggy cardboard. The meringue was super sweet, which is not something we are used to. The service was okay here, we have to waved down the employee when we wanted to order. The place look nice from the outside but it was alright when we walked in. You have a small counter area that you choose from when ordering.

We saw this shop while walking to the art museum and just had to stop for pastries! We got the chocolate cramique and the Vergeoise waffle. The paper thin waffle was filled with melt-in-your-mouth brown sugar butter rum. We loved how the pastries and decor were elegant and upscale. Tried marvelous by Fred with a friend during our trip to Toronto! Loved that they opened early. Their interior was decorated like a standard cafe and the seats were pretty comfy. We got to choose our seats. Our food came out relatively fast even though we went in when they first opened. I got a tuna fish sandwich and an oat milk latte. The oat milk latte was good but nothing special. The tuna fish sandwich, same thing it was decent but not great. The bread was very fluffy which I liked. We also got the croissant to share which was a little bit burnt on top. It was flaky but again nothing special.

My sister and I were in area getting ready for a spin class but I was a bit hungry so we stopped by here for a quick bite. The broiche sandwich I got was pretty pricey, I paid more than $11 for the half sandwich. While I did think the sandwich was tasty, I cannot justify for the price since the sandwich was mostly bread. I have walked by here many times and wanted to try this place out and am content I can check this off on my to try list. The atmosphere here is very bright and clean, I saw lots of people there studying/working on their laptops.

As we were heading to our lunch destination, we passed by this beautiful bakery. The workers were super friendly and patient. We were getting ready for our long flight and asked their opinion on whether I should purchase the meringue. However, they didn't recommend that, and I appreciate their honest opinion. We bought some kind of chocolate bun, that contained dark chocolate ($3.8). And, oh my goodness, it's yummy. It has the right amount of sweetness to it. There was a good amount of seating but fills up fast. My mom also got a vanilla latte (around $6). She said it had more coffee than vanilla. Overall, great experience, and would pass by again when I'm in the area!

The ambiance feels upscale but also casual; it adds to the whole experience! I didn't know there were only three locations in existence but since we were nearby, we had to try it out. I believe we got the incroyable to try out as well and it's light, fluffy, airy, sweet but not too sweet. You'd think this would be so dense but it was quite the opposite. I could see myself eating a couple of these without any fatigue from the sweetness. I wish we tried the other ones! It's amazing that even the turkey sandwich was good too. The bun was similar to the chinese ham and egg bun but much better. The bun was also airy and light which combined with the turkey and other fillings, made each bite so satisfying.

I might move to Toronto just to access to this phenomenal establishment. I can't say enough good things about these decadent treats and the overall ambiance of the shop. I visited in a weekend and the line was nearly out the door but moved quite fast. I felt a bit rushed in making my selection but, no worry, I returned the next morning to make sure I could indulge in everything that piqued my interest. The raisin brioche and chocolate croissant were my favorites, but I don't hesitate in saying that everything they touch is, indeed, marvelous. (See what I did there?)

From the moment you enter the café, the elegant ambiance and decoration attracts your attention. This french café offers good variety of brioche, croissants, crampique, waffles, cakes, meringues and other pastries. We ordered "Chocolate Cramique", "Pain au chocolat" and "chocolate pudding cake" and paired them with cappuccino, café americano and tea. My favorite was Pain au Chocolat and we didn't like the pudding cake.

A high-end bakery shop on queen W. It also has sandwiches - similar to what you'd find at high tea. I got a mini le mervilleux (hazelnut), a butter croissant, and a raisin brioche. Tbh, I thought the brioche was a bit dry. The croissant was flaky, soft and buttery with a hint of sweetness. I didn't know what to expect with the le merveilleux but it blew my mind! The hazelnut flavour was nutty (think Ferrero Rocher) but without the overwhelming sweetness. The fluffiness was unexpected and that crust base gave the perfect contrasting texture

Busy shop we had to stop in when walking past. Service was speedy and seating is available but it is loud and crowded inside. Tried the sugar bread and a coffee flavored treat both were good. The signage for a lot of items was confusing and stuff were very rushed to serve. Packaging was very cute for the chocolates.

A must if you're ever in DT Toronto. I had to come back here so I can bring back some merveilleux for my flight home. While there, I also tried their melted sugar and chocolate chip brioches, and a few sandwiches (salmon, tuna, ham). The brioche is light and fluffy just like their merveilleux. I wish a shop would open up in San Diego because there's none on the West Coast. Even my husband, who said he's not a meringue person, enjoyed these melt in your mouth treats. The cafe itself is airy and light with French decor. Seats are comfy and constant influx of patrons. Staff is friendly and patient.

Chocolate croissants and chocolate chip brioche were amazing! Would definitely recommend.

Delicious patisserie from France. I tried their butter croissant which was good (but no Emmer). The star of the show is definitely their Merveilleux. I stopped by the shop randomly and didn't know what it was beforehand. How can you walk past this pastry display and not get something? The cake is so creamy, light and airy. It just dissolves in your mouth. Definitely recommend as gifts or for parties!

Located on Queen Street is a lovely patisserie that has croissants, brioche, sandwiches, and merveilleux (Belgian meringue cake). They also have locations in Europe, Japan, and New York. Aside from pastries and sandwiches, they also have drinks to go with your pastries or sandwich. Such as coffee, tea, bottle of water. I came here specifically for their merveilleux. Light, creamy dessert. I was lucky to get a table on a busy weekend afternoon. I got a merveilleux and a vanilla latte for dine-in, and a box of merveilleux to bring home. Le Merveilleux: Meringue, chocolate whipped cream coated with shavings of dark chocolate. I wish I got more of these because 1 simply isn't enough! L'Impensable: Meringue, coffee whipped cream, coated with crystallized meringue. Everybody loves coffee, right? Le Magnifique: Meringue, praline whipped cream, coated with crushed caramelized almonds and hazelnuts. I love hazelnuts so, I had to get a lot of these. L'Excentrique: Meringue, cherry whipped cream, coated with crystallized meringue. If you love cherry, this is your jam. If I were to rank my most favorite to "least" favorite (they're all so good), it would be hard but here it goes anyway: #1 Le Merveilleux (chocolate) #2 Le Magnifique (hazelnut) #3 L'Impensable (coffee) #4 L'Excentrique (cherry) If you're planning to bring a box of these home, just know that they are very delicate. A small bump on the road could make them topple over. Or in my case, I was very careful not to bump them all the way to the plane but some woman decided to put her purse on top of my my box of merveilleux while I was in the plane bathroom. Trust me, I let her have it (not my beautiful meringue cakes)! The space is rather tiny so, my advice is go as soon as they open at 9am or very late afternoon. They seem to be the busiest after lunch time until 3pm.

They have great meringue bites and treats , I wish there was also cake as part of them or cake sold separately. Other items they offer like croissants are ok, not quite what I expect a French bakery to produce. The cafe portion is small and chic, very Parisian, not warm

Authentic French bakery known for their Merveilleux (traditional cake from Northern France using light meringue and whipped cream). I highly recommend the coffee flavour Merveilleux. The bitter coffee balances the sweetness of the meringue. The Vergeoise waffle is similar to a Stroopwafel but richer and less sweet. Do not make the mistake of heating it up, as it'll cause the butter to leak inside. Highly recommend it if you want to try some unique French treats.

Surprised by the baked goods,they are great. The turkey sandwich I had is much healthier than the options for a takeout,but I will otherwise pass. The brioché is quite good considering I picked up my box at the end of their day. Sugar pearls, raisin and sugar pearls would be a repeat purchase. I am not sure why people have rated their pricing to be "cheap,"or a single dollar sign. About $32 for half a dozen regular sized brioche, taxes included .

As a French person living in Toronto, I tend to try French spots around the city and especially during epiphany and the Galette des rois. The flemish Galette des rois was truly a first for me and amazing. The brioche filled with a cream with taste of rum and generously powdered with icing sugar! This was definitely a surprise and looking forward to try many more goodies from this bakery. This place is super super busy on weekends but worth checking out.

Honestly the place is beautiful and the staff are so great and accommodating but the food was subpar . The marvelous dessert lived up to expectations and was amazing everything else we ordered was just ok .

I am a party/sweet snob but I was in heaven at this little place. Everything i sampled was a perfectly sweet. It was a perfect ending to a rainy Sunday in Toronto. I arrived just in time as there was a huge rush after I sat down. It was lovely experience and I am dreaming about the confections I had here.

The Sandwiches were great but the croissants and the desserts were a little unflattering apart from the chocolate one. Definitely on a pricer side, ideal for a take out. However, the immaculate decor and the majestic chandelier transports to Montreal's French cafes right away! The staff is extremely resourceful and can help guide to find the right item to pick.

Fancy bakery with great French pastries. The customer service was pretty good. The cashier was very friendly and attentive. Did a walk through with all the pastries which I appreciated. She recommended the coffee flavoured meringue pastry. Which is supposed to be the least sweet between the chocolate(middle) , white chocolate(most sweet). I really liked it because it's fluffy and not too sweet. It was on the pricier side but for the location and decor, I totally get it. I'll be back to try other stuff!

Raisin & chocolate chip brioches were decent. Flemish waffle was good - thin & soft with sweet vanilla cream inside. Service is really good here.

We were staying in Toronto and happened upon this adorable place while walking down the street. I think the pastries in the windows serve as a natural advertisement. It's only been a day and a half in Toronto, and we've already visited this place twice! What a great gem! We loved the pastries at Marvelous. The croissants were baked to perfection! Flaky, crunchy goodness in every bite. Probably the best croissants we've ever had. Cappuccino was also very smooth. Two croissants and two drinks came out to be around $17 CAD. A little bit pricier than a quick stop at a Tim Horton's but definitely worth it. Would highly recommend on your daily commute or for a quick snack!!

Tried two of the six Marvelous pastries. They're merengue cream dipped in a topping. I got dark chocolate and praline. Flavours were good - I liked the dark chocolate more as it was less sweet. We also got a sugar brioche, which was really fluffy and the sugar on top adds some sweetness but it wasn't too overwhelming.

Fancy French Frivolities. My wife and I were walking down Queen and chanced upon this French bakery. We got: - Merveilleux: Dark chocolate pastry. The outside was studded with dark chocolate bits to cover up a mousse-y inside. Not overly sweet (good), though not overly distinct as well (not so good). - Incroyable: White chocolate and speculoos pastry. I liked this better than the marvelous one since it had a nutty taste that highlighted the creaminess of the actual mini-cake. - Sugar Brioche Bun: The bun is airy yet delectably chewy at the same time. It also has the perfect sweet glaze on the outside. And not sure why, but the inside tasted a bit coconut-y to me. Of everything we had, I easily liked this the most. - Chocolate Roll: Nothing special. Even the bread part of the roll was pedestrian, which was disappointing considering how good the brioche bun was. - Cappuccino and Hote Chocolate: Both overly milky to the point that the coffee and chocolate tastes were diluted out of the drinks. Overall, a pretty good French bakery with a truly delicious brioche bun. Heard the croissants (sold out when we went) are also good, so may just have to drop by again for those.

Paid multiple visits in the last few weeks, and can definitely say the customer service is once again superb. Courteous, kind, and welcoming staff truly add to the experience of Marvelous by Fred. A weekly must in my personal routine! Bravo. Splendid

Yes please. Adorable, immaculate patisserie on Queen West. Excellent place to sit and rest while waiting for shopping teenagers. :) The mini Merveilleux is a small hazelnut mousse rolled in crushed hazelnut praline. The perfect treat.

I ordered the dark chocolate (best seller) marvelous pastry with meringue, chocolate whipped-cream coated with shavings of dark chocolate. It was delightful, airy and very well balanced. I think I could've had six of them easily. Definitely a treat to splurge on!

A couple years ago, we met a couple at a b&b in Ottawa. They are from France and they recommended this place to us, saying it's the closest to France out of all bakeries they've been in Toronto. I finally came and it didn't disappoint! The butter croissant and chocolate croissant were so soft and flaky, they melt in your mouth! Highly recommend it.

Too cute! This is a must for dessert and a coffee. I loved the sugar waffles and Meringue.

Hahaahaha my first time trying this and it was interesting and exciting at the same time. It was good and i do love it well it was pretty expensive and not fulfilling but i think it was worth it and prettt good. Cheers! I would recommend you getting here to try if you ever come to toronto!

It's hard finding a bakery that bakes like they do in France. Getting the basics down such as something as simple as a brioche is not an easy thing. This bakery gives an upscale Parisian cafe vibe, with beautiful finishes, a huge crystal chandelier above the cash and crown moulding on the ceilings, and French words and art on the walls. I got a sugar cramik brioche and it was absolutely Marvelous. It was fluffy and sweet. They had many other sweets that I have yet to try. If you're looking for an authentic brioche, this is the place to check out.

As I was walking along Queen street I noticed this place being renovated before the pandemic. I was very excited to see a bakery open up in my neighborhood. I did open a couple of weeks ago. However, due to the pandemic they are only take pre-ordered items. I totally understand and I decided to give it a try bc it's so close to me. I went to their website and had to ordered just by looking at the picture not knowing exactly what it is. I ordered a Brioche, and 2 Pastries (One Marvelous and One Incredible). They are offering free delivery if you order more than $25 with of food. The pastry is quite good. It looked like a cake but it's more of a meringue cake which is something I never had before. The Brioche bun was quite large (250 g). 2 people can easily share one. I look forward to the pandemic being over and having their pastries displayed ready for walk in orders. Hopefully they will also sell more items too.

One of the best cafés in the discovery district of downtown Toronto. The café interior is beautifully appointed, very relaxing, their meringue bonbons are to-die-for, and their servers are fast and friendly. Will definitely come back again in the future!

Stopped by Aux Merveilleux de Fred while walking along Queen Street. The brioche looked so good from the window we decided to go in to try. We ordered the large chocolate chip cramik brioche and a cappuccino. The brioche was warm so when we cut into it, steam came out. The brioche was so moist and not too sweet. Next time I will try the melted sugar brioche. Definitely a must try.
