This is our second time here. First time was 5/5- workers were great, check in easy. Today was exact opposite. Check in was a nightmare. Only one worker checking in. Absolutely no organization. When second desk opened, they allowed other guests just cut in front of all of us that had been waiting well over 20 min. When someone tried to correct it, we were told too bad so sad. My kids love the park. And the slides are great. But just a cluster truck for check in and seating.

I want to leave less stars but my kids had a good time. It was $246 for two kids 47" and two adults. The kids could only go on 2 slides and the Mat thing. It's more than full cedar point prices, just wild they charge this . There was a lazy river they liked thankfully. So overcrowded. 3 chicken tenders = $15😳. OK. Enough said. Even the girl charging us apologized as soon as she handed me the dish 😅. $7.50 pet slice of pizza also. The staff was so nice though, very respectful.

We had a blast celebrating our sons birthday here! The avalanche did not go off once on this trip, though. Usually, it pours down; we spent the entire day and were a bit disappointed that it didn't happen. Of course, they all had a great time anyway. We had cheese bread and pizza for lunch, and both were good.

I’ve heard this is currently the largest indoor waterpark in Michigan. To me if felt the same as Zehnder’s Splash Village in Frankenmunth, however Avalanche Bay feels managed more efficiently and uses space better. I think they both have the same count of slides. The changing rooms here were much better and more spacious compared to Zhenders. The key difference to me is that you don’t have to wait as long for anything. Hands down the infrastructure is just better. Zhender’s has more people that go, I assume because of its proximity to the Detroit metro area. We visited Avalanche Bay during Michigan’s mid-winter break and I think the 3.5hr drive was worth it. Wishin the first hour alone we experienced more attractions than all day a Zhender’s. Two things really stood out to me and they were the surf current and kids/adult play structure. The surf current was so much fun and the staff was very helpful. The play structure with 2 slides was a lot of fun. Everything is adult friendly too as the slides were rapid and the water was warm. A small warning, this is the wettest play structure I have ever been too. So much water is squirting or falling from somewhere. Whereas places like Zhender’s you can safely navigate with your kids with getting only marginally wet. In short it is a lot of fun. I highly recommend this place as the quality is high and the property has many other offerings.

We went for the day for my son's birthday and it was so much fun. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The water park was a great size with lots to do. Our favorite part was the vertigo water slide!

Google
Great place decent choices of water slides and related. Far better then great Wolfe lodge in my opinion as far as water park goes the location is the only downfall I believe being its hour from Traverse City which would honestly bring it way more business if there or even 30 min closer . But overall well worth it. Cheaper also

Spring break 2025! What a great time!! We stayed at a cozy mountain cabin (on site) at Boyne Mountain. It was more expensive than other lodging options, BUT 100% worth it!! The cabin had a ready to use kitchen! We went with the 3 bedroom cabin. It had 3 bedrooms; (4 beds) plus a pull out sofa-sleeper. It had 3.5 bathrooms (4 toilets, 3showers!) One of the best parts was a personal hot tub out the back door patio. :) Very welcoming, clean, and spacious! The staff was kind, accommodating, and helpful with every interaction we had. We stayed 4 nights; they had an option for “early check-in” if available with no additional cost. Normal check-in time was 5pm. Our room was ready around 11am. They also offered us a no-charge late checkout of 12pm instead of 11am. We will definitely be back! Avalanche Bay, indoor water park was great! Our kids loved it! They had Multiple water slides for different ages/adventure seeking pleasure. They had 2 hot tub areas. A large kid-area for climbing and water play. A special shout out to: SCOTT P!! He was on shift at the “Velocity” (aka Toilet-bowl slide). My daughter, age 7, was hesitant on her first time going down with a friend instead of a parent. She started with reluctance but SCOTT TOOK THE TIME, with a personal interaction- and positivity- he made sure she was ready and confident! He handled the situation, with a professional- friendly attitude that insured she would have fun! And she did!!! Thank you again Scott P!! We decided to choose the breakfast package. They had an amazing selection of eggs, bacon, sausage, waffles, and a daily special. Along with bagels/breads/yogurts. They had a wonderful fruit selection. They also had a separate omelette/pancake station. Great food and great service! There were at times a wait to be seated, but that was almost to be expected- and no issue. I would recommend getting there early. Also they have an option to do an early wrist-band sign in for water park- so we did that while waiting for our breakfast table to be ready. Only down-fall or recommended change would be the temperature of the water at the water park- it could go up a little bit! Along with inside temperature. (It was hot while completely dressed- but once you are wet and walking around in just a swim suit- it was a little chilly. Also the Sky-Bridge was an amazing sight! 100% recommend to do, if you have the time and the winter weather gear! Plus we got 10% off all online purchases after booking our lodging! It added up! 🤙Thanks again Boyne!! 🤙

We went on a Saturday evening and it wasn't super crowded, things were open and working well... it was just so cold. You walk in and think it's going to be fine, but once you get wet you're freezing. Our 1.5 year old son's lips turned blue and was shivering within minutes of being in the toddler area, we had to take frequent trips to the (crowded) hot tub just to warm him up. Kids are running from activity to activity with their arms crossed to keep warm and parents are sitting comfortably in chairs in their winter clothes. For the price they charge kids should be able to play in the water and explore the water park without freezing to death.

Sherry F.

Yelp
What a joke of a water park! $4@2 per person You can walk around the whole thing in 5 min!!! Absolutely NOT the biggest water park in Michigan!!! Want a big Waterpark Try the ones in Frankenmuth!!

Molly N.

Yelp
Our family of four enjoyed an evening pass, I could not justify the full day price My 11 yr old loves the slides, mom loved the lazy River. We all played some pool basketball. No one was brave enough to try the wave rider but I wish they had for some good pictures! Overall the place seems clean. The bathrooms, the tables chairs and the pool areas were well kept. Plenty of lifeguards and I noticed a sign they run regular life saving drills

Crystal D.

Yelp
This time around Boyne is getting a 3 from us. Charging double the price per person when you close down slides is a pretty awful thing to do to paying guests. $64! Literally double the price of normal admission. Your resort wasn't even busy during the second week of the Spring Break days. So you're going to double the price of people deciding to choose to spend their money there? Not a good business practice at all.

Christa O.

Yelp
Avalanche bay was a lot of fun, we went on a Monday and it was not crowded at all. The Tobbagon slide was a favorite, never been on a belly water slide before and my 3 year old daughter loved it. The pink and purple kids slides were just right in intensity but I hated the rope climb walk up to the slides. Our special needs daughter never would have been able to make it up that type of ramp to get to the slides. The water was colder than other water parks we have been at, we did reserve a table ahead of time and I am glad we paid for that. All the tables were nice, towels were all nice and we had a raft reserved but had no problem finding one when we wanted it.

Kimberlee S.

Yelp
I thought I would surprise my special needs daughter for her spring break, so I booked online tickets for the Avalanche Bay Waterpark. We met up with her cousin and Uncle there. We only booked for the 4 pm-8 pm session (it costs us $114 for the tickets). We had no idea that we had to pay for a locker to put our stuff inside, as this was our first time there. And then when she wanted a snack, we were not able to get one, because NO cash is accepted in this place at all- and it does NOT tell you this in advance anywhere on the website. So we were there from about 4:15 to 5:15 when the blonde life-guard at the pool (near the food court) decided to lean over the pool and blow her whistle IN MY DAUGHTERS EARS, and YELL at her to get out of the area she was in- (NO signs or warnings to say stay out) - My daughter is autistic and has hypercusis so when the lady blew her whistle it hurt my daughters ears and she immediately started to scream, cry and punch herself (that's how she has a meltdown). And on top of it the yelling at her was UNCALLED for- So, this place is NOT a special needs friendly place at all- they need to educate their employees on special needs kids and their emotions. I am NOT happy with this place, this was our first and LAST time wasting our money here- Thanks for ruining her day!

Kyle I.

Yelp
Went today and the orange slide was closed which was the entire reason we went. They should have informed us of this prior to paying full price. I told her I was just going to charge it back when not offered a refund, which I will eventually do once I find the patience to call my credit card company. She said since we are on camera "I would have to come back" which I found kinda cute. That's not how chargebacks work. I spend over 50K/month on this particular credit card and any time I want to do a chargeback they always find it in my favor no matter what the merchant says.

Chelsea S.

Yelp
No seating available anywhere, we had to sit on the cemented ice cubes near the front just to feed our baby. I had no idea about having to reserve seating/tables and tubes until I noticed them with reserve signs on them. I asked someone who had a table and they stated it was an additional charge (I didn't see it on their website anywhere). We were unable to enjoy the lazy river as there were no tubes available. Very disappointed.

Brian H.

Yelp
What a great place to take our 4 and 2 year old sons. It was on a Thursday in March, so lines, what lines? We didn't have to wait for anything, which made this visit even better and so worth it. I could imagine it being really packed and not that much fun waiting in line as there are 11 slides total. The different combination of slides are great and leave you with lots of options, from tube slides, to race hills and the The Big Couloir which is where the floor drops out from under you and away you go. I loved that you can ride on a inner tube and go with your kid on your lap, that made it so much fun and memorable. My boys got braver as the day wore on and even my two year old got to ride some moderate slides on my lap (he was saying "awesome", over and over again). All in all, we built some great family memories going to Avalanche Bay and my 4 year old can't stop asking (3 weeks) later when we are going back, it's hard for him to understand we live a 12 hour drive away. We will for sure go back and enjoy it for years to come. The cafe has all the basic food items you need and the lockers are fairly priced for being able to visit them unlimited amounts of time. You won't be disappointed, just make sure you go on a slow day if you can. Thanks Avalanche Bay can't wait to see you again someday.

Yelp
I had such a blast here during my vacation here in Michigan. I found this place as my own paradise and I definitely hope to come back soon! I was here yesterday and Friday and I enjoyed the water park so much. I loved everything I did; especially the big drop. I even enjoyed the big splash as well as my own hot tub party. I totally recommend this place to anyone who comes to boyne mountain, Michigan. This place is awesome, and to me it felt like a dream that cannot be crushed!

Larry M.

Yelp
Filthy place Per website: Public Space Attendants have increased the frequency of cleaning and disinfecting in public spaces, with a focus on door handles, lockers, tables, public restrooms, and kiosk counters. None of that was done the entire time I was here. Employees wearing masks below noses and chins. Zero social distancing. Avoid at all cost. Was told per website that no outside food or drink. We didn't bring, however almost everyone I looked at had their own food and many coolers around. In all avoid this place.

Michelle S.

Yelp
It was okay. We've been to better indoor water parks. The water is FREEZING. I've never been to an indoor water park that doesn't warm their water so that was a bummer. There are several decent water slides and a good kiddie area. The hot tub is lukewarm. There is a snack shack but everything is kind of expensive. Lots of towels and tubes for everyone. We were glad they limited the crowd due to covid.

Allison R.

Yelp
We took our nephews here while they were in town visiting and they had a blast. The water park has two smaller water slides for younger kids that don't require rafts and two for the older kids that do require rafts. There is also one where you stand up straight and the floor drops from beneath you and you fall into a steep water slide drop. There was one slide that was not open (possibly due to staffing) that you slide down on a carpet like mat, and they also have a lazy River, a pool with basketball hoops, a log obstacle, and an iceberg crossing obstacle. There are also two water park play sets/splash pads for kids of different ages, a hot tub, and a surfing simulator. Their staff and lifeguards were all very attentive, and the park seemed clean overall. They offer lockers for rent for you to leave your belongings if you don't have any spectators in your party. Their small concession stand offers things like slushees, pizza, hot dogs, fries, nachos, cheese curds, and chicken tenders, among other things, and there is a full service bar and an arcade connected to the park as well. For $40/person for a full day, or a spectator ticket for $10/person, there is plenty to keep the whole family entertained.

Tina W.

Yelp
Was here for 4 days this is the best indoor water park I have been to. The water park itself was so clean, the locker room bathroom, the staff was so helpful, the food is great, the arcade was fun,

Isaac H.

Yelp
everything was perfect they had great hospitalty thank you avalanche bay for a great time I rate it FIVE STARS I think you should too if you visit

Holly C.

Yelp
Not worth the price of admission. They do not have nearly enough tubes for everyone. A family just left after trying to get a tube for 2 hrs with no luck. They were kicked out of the lazy river for no tubes. There is not enough employees ofcourse. Multiple tubes are sitting at the tables having lunch.. Grandparents have no where to sit since people are saving chairs with their towels never to be seen again. Again where is the staff? A women asked about capacity and they told her they do not have a capacity which is obvious. This is our 2 nd time here and will be the last.

Restaurant M.

Yelp
Took the family to avalanche Bay on New Year's eve. There were not many people so that was nice. That being said, the facility was dirty. It needs a very deep clean, especially the bathrooms. The staff is very nice and there were no issues. We purchased the tickets online so they were cheaper than walking in by $15.00. The food was typical snack bar food but expensive and very greasy. I uploaded the prices for you. All in all, we had a good time but there far more options in Michigan for indoor water parks.

Cindy W.

Yelp
When you little ones are done skiing for the day, why not take them to the water park? This is a great activity option at Boyne Mountain. This is why we return every year. Ski until 2 or 3pm and then hit the water park before dinner. Does not get better than this! They have a wide varieties of rides for all ages. Definitely enough to occupy hours of endless entertainment.

Gary S.

Yelp
Avalanche Bay is a very nice water park. My kids are all young (under 4), and fortunately they have access to 75% of the park. There is a large area dedicated to toddlers with a shallow swimming pool, basketball hoops, and playscape with a slide and various interactive spray guns, valves, etc. The kids had a blast and would have been content to just hang out in the toddler area all day, but the nice part of Avalanche Bay is you also take your toddlers down all but 1 slide. There are two huge slides using inner tubes, and you can take them down on a double tube. This was such a thrill for them! To go from the dinky 8 foot toddler slide to the big boy slide made their day. The facility is very clean, with plenty of rest room/changing room space (including a couple large family changing rooms). The staff is friendly and the life guards are attentive. The couple of times I've been here, there is also plenty of seating and the lines weren't too long. There is a small cafe where you can eat lunch or get a snack (including beer for the parents!). We will definitely be back next year!

Patches O.

Yelp
Even though there are more slides I'll take Great Wolf Lodge any day, i didn't care for the set up or the color scheme. I know it might sound petty, but looks are everything. Take a look at society today. It's all about dressing comfortable because we're all overweight nowadays. Look back in the day when the crowds would go to a ball game it was in a suit and a hat. Compare that to sweats and cap, no comparison. The rooms are nice and clean, the staff is friendly the guest are not what i expected. When you pull up and see the grounds you would expect a different clientele. Not the case We go down to use the pool and find a table for our family to use. We come back to dry off and there's this family of typical "people" who feel they are owed something. They take over our table and used all of our towels. I'm a hothead just ask the wife or kids, it took everything in me not to say something in hopes of getting a chance to lay someone out. I mean seriously, who in the heck would do that? She was changing her baby on the table with all of our shirts right there. I have kids so the changing the baby on the table isn't a problem, changing it on OUR table with my OUR clothes right there was the problem. Just shows even white thrash can rent a room anywhere. Well we've been to every water themed hotel in Michigan, so we're done with that crowd.

Nate G.

Yelp
Kids enjoyed the park. Carol the bartender seems like she wished she could be anywhere but there. Very indifferent. Food took forever. The other bartender was very busy and did not hesitate to sample his creations.

Sheryl G.

Yelp
Fun place but we won't be going back for several years now! Went last winter and our five year old could ride the tube slides with us. This meant there was a lot she could do. Now EVERYONE must be 48" and there are no riding with your child as stated by the previous reviewer.

Todd K.

Yelp
Clean. Safe. Ton of fun. Not crowded at all. Awesome time! Staff is friendly, food simple and priced fairly. Just a great experience all the way!

Jen O.

Yelp
Great facility for a fun day in the water even if it's 2 degrees outside and snowing. We took our little yoopers (10 months and almost 3) and 5 hours later they were still having a great time. The littlest yooper had a great time in the crawl-in pool and the other played basketball in the kitz pool for hours. We took grandparents, so I can report that all the waterslides were a fun ride. There was also a wave machine for boogie boarding or surfing, but I am way, way to chicken to try it. My only complaint is that the hot tub seemed a bit cool for my liking. I can see how it needs to be cooler with all the children climbing in and out of it, but I like coming out of a hot tub lobster red.

Maureen M.

Yelp
We booked two nights during my kid's Spring Break. It seemed the hotel was not prepared at all! We arrived for our 5:00pm check in and we did NOT get a room until 8:29pm. (We HAD a reservation) Totally unacceptable! All the stores in their village closed at 5:00, also. It was dumbfounding. The water park had the surf attraction closed for repair. They were understaffed- inner tubes were left in huge piles that blocked the entrance/exit of the lazy river. We were very disappointed. We won't ever return.

Ryan M.

Yelp
We just got back from a Mid week getaway @ Boyne. We weren't going to go here at first until we stopped in on Tuesday and saw about 40 people in the entire place. So we went back on Wed and they had even less. The FLORIDER is awesome and the longest line was 7 people. The toilet bowl waterslide is my favorite the lazy river actually has a strong current to keep you moving and the slides exit into the river. Not a great place for adults but a GREAT place for the family, lots for the kids to do and enough to keep Mom and Dad entertained also. We only spent about 3 hours here since there was no lines we just kept going going and going, and got tired.

Joshua B.

Yelp
Not understanding the high reviews for this scuzzy place. For the tots less than 5 years old, save your time and money and go to Great Wolf Lodge. This place was an absolute pig sty and very short staffed.

Karina K.

Yelp
First, it's huge but dark... But it's only open Friday 4-9 then Saturday and Sunday. But it's BIG. SUPER COOL VERTIGO WATER SLIDE!! The super G slide was also amazing!! There are like 3 "adult" slides, two big kids slides, and sweet lazy river, basket ball water court, and super sweet surfing wave. Plenty to do for adults and more than plenty for kids. My 3 year old loved the water park. I wish it had a pool though so I could swim with my baby while my husband had fun with my son. Also only limited food choices. Life guards are great and everything is super clean. Will be back for sure. Check out the attached arcade and worth it to stay at mountain grand lodge hotel which is like 10 steps away.

Matt V.

Yelp
Avalanche bay was a lot of fun for the kids. Our kids had a blast! Pros: -plenty of activities for young and old -nice locker rooms -plenty of food for purchase Cons: -very loud inside -expensive Overall, good experience. We would come back

Jennifer A.

Yelp
Had a great day with family here. Not crowded at all. Husband waited 1hour for a hamburger at the snack counter. Counter help was good but guys in the back were really slow. Thank goodness we bought the full day pass. Other family was given a discount for staying at the lodge. Unfortunately, we were not asked where we were staying. Be sure to mention if you're staying at a Boyne facility.

Agnes L.

Yelp
For an indoor water park, it had a quite a bit going for H20 entertainment. But the facility needs some updates while the admission price was ridiculously expensive at $35 for any time entering prior to 4 p.m. despite how short the visit is. For instance, it took me longer than necessary to figure out how to work the lockers. A female attendant I sought out through the reception desk even admitted that she disliked the old lockers. Also, the bathrooms overall seemed to lack regular maintenance (ie. bathing suit liners and other trash on the benches in the showers). I personally enjoyed just sitting and relaxing in the hot tub and on the lazy river after the soreness I acquired from a long day of skiing. I also liked the several variations of water slides including the double-inner tube type, face-forward racers, and single swimmer versions. More exciting water activities included the "Avalanche" of water that crashed over the play structure and the simulation wave pool for body surfing. Just a warning - Don't wear a two-piece suit like I did...

Neeraj S.

Yelp
This is an awesome facility and a very succinct option for a indoor water park. Have you been to a water park where you've too many slides, that don't matter, and those where lines are endless. All that will change when you visit this one. The rides are good, nicely managed and folks are very very courteous. We had stayed at the Grand Lodge and Spa and had received the waterpark , breakfast, and tubing passes all included for a 2 Bed , 2 Bath suite for 360$ flat. This deal cant be beat !! Oh, did I forget to mention, we had the mountain view suite ! All in all an awesome place to stay and enjoy with family over a weekend or just over two days.

Noelle V.

Yelp
This water park is very small. It's inside of a hotel. Only about 4-5 major slides. It's okay if you're not expecting a major park. This place is no comparison to Kalahari or WI Dells water parks. Seems it would be more entertaining for younger children ages 2 to 10 yrs. There were no lounge chairs to relax in, only hard uncomfortable metal chairs to sit in. The locker rooms, shower & restrooms were clean.

Courtney O.

Yelp
Great selection of slides. Great that they provide life vests and towels! We enjoyed it and they offered a great military discount! Thank you

Peter P.

Yelp
This was a nice place to splash the day away. We had a 4 year-old and 12 year-old with us and there was plenty for both of them to enjoy. They have a nice toddler pool with a hot tub right next to it if you want to sit and supervise your child from the warmth of the hot tub. There are three slides that are very fun, including one that the bottom drops out and away you go. The only reason I gave it four stars was the price and it could have been warmer inside the building. Regardless, next time we are in the area, we will return for more fun.

Jodi T.

Yelp
We love this place and go often. They have a good amount of slides and we like the lazy river and the kid pools for the family. The food isn't great, but that's not why we go. We really like their big slides and the fact that when we stay at the mountain we get 2 days at the park with our package.

Roy R.

Yelp
GREAT! Clean and well maintained. Friendly staff. Enough life guards to make a grandparent feel comfortable.

Ethan R.

Yelp
Our second time there. We went over spring break and it was pretty busy. Still, not too much of wait for the water slides. The giant toilet bowl slide is a blast! Our kids are a little older now so that's nice that they can go off and have fun with our having to watch over them. Enjoy.

Marcella L.

Yelp
My husband and I stopped by Avalanche Bay on our honeymoon and absolutely loved it! What a perfect activity :) Great price too! We would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a day of fun!

Roseanne N.

Yelp
According to my 9 year old. Lazy river is fun to race your family. The slides are sick ( which is a good thing). I liked the surfer ride and everything about it. From the adult perspective: It is a mid-sized park if you've been to a lot of them. The ones in the Dells are much bigger but this is a good water park. It is our third time in this area and we always have a great time with out children at this water park.

Ann F.

Yelp
The Big Couloir was a lot of fun for us adults, teens and younger kids alike. The heartbeat in the speakers really helped build anticipation then the floor dropped out - so fun!! Hotel is beautiful and everyone was incredibly friendly. We stayed in the villas with the loft, two baths and full kitchen. So nice nestled in the woods but close enough to the hotel, shopping, restaurants, ziplines, and ski lifts. Highly Recommend for family fun.

K J.

Yelp
This was an OK park...we went here on a rainy day while camping in cheboygan. Pros...our kids, 6 and 9, could ride almost all the slides and had a lot of fun, especially on the lazy river and in the pool with the floating tree log. Temperature was decent inside the park. Nice young child and toddler sections. Lifeguards were very attentive and appeared to take their job seriously...big plus here and kudos to the girl on the lazy river who didn't hesitate to use her whistle and jump in to help a child at one point. Cons: very expensive...was $164 for the 4 of us to even get in. Check in process was long and tedious and shouldn't have been, though staff was friendly. Lockers were difficult to work and ate quarters, so had to use a fresh quarter each time I opened my locker...this is irritating after paying so much to get in. Locker room (women's) could have been cleaner...never saw staff mopping or anything and the hand dryers didn't work. Eating area did not have enough tables. All in all...kids loved it...but sure was an expensive way to spend six hours. Will get a room at Great Lodge next time and get a lot more for our money.

Jason D.

Yelp
Disgusting. Everything is always in need of constant repair, the locker rooms are slimy and full of used towels and trash all the time. Most of the water guns in the kids tower thing are broken. The river is always overflowing with poorly inflated tubes. And as to be expected, buying food in the park or anywhere on Boyne property is way to expensive.

Scott K.

Yelp
I took my daughter and her friends to Avalanche Bay for her birthday on February 15th. 2015. We purchased the tickets online and drove three hours to get to their facility, when I arrived at 3:30pm. I talked to Mike a supervisor there about the air quality in the park, he assured me there was no problem it was caused by the large number of people in the facility. They went into play while I checked in our hotel room, at 4:30pm. I received a call from my daughter that they shut the park down. Because of the malfunction of the oxygen scrubber that monitors the air quality in the park, they refunded my credit card and I could not find Mike since he left since the air quality affected him, but apparently he thought it was good enough to leave the children in. I called and talked to Mathew the manager of the Hotel and he assured me he would have the water park director follow up and make it right with me, but never called back. They clearly are not focused on how they treat their customers, two of the girls left with headaches and bloodshot eyes for the experience. Save your money and go somewhere else as when things go bad they don't really care.
