This review is for Avalanche Bay, specifically. We've been visiting Boyne for several years because of the convenience and options of both the slopes and waterpark.
Some positive notes, the prices for the waterpark haven't risen as much as comparable places. Also, the staff is very friendly and professional and make the visit worth visiting time and time again.
The downside, the waterpark opened at noon (Tuesday) and while there was a low volume of visitors, there seemed to be an extra low amount of waterslide lifeguards: The three bigger waterslides frequently had only 1 lifeguard to manage the flow, or at best, two lifeguards. This caused a few minutes of back-up, which wasn't terrible, but worth mention. Also, it appeared the red/green lights at the entrance of the two slides requiring a tube were either broken, or disabled, causing the guards to have to rely on the cameras or next riders' words that the prior rides completed...
The 4 person racer ride's radar was broken, while it is obvious who 'wins' any given race, the times for each lane is something that people excited about.
One of the two hot tub areas was under repair/reconstruction which made the remain area more crowded (even with lower volume). Several of the exits from the water slides showed some wear and tear with the cushioning worn away.
Overall - this place is worth a visit especially if you have younger kids as the smaller kids attractions (fountains, splash park, etc... were in better shape, relatively) or if you'd like a break from the slopes.
