Google
Avalon Hotel was a fantastic choice. The building has that perfect blend of vintage charm and modern comfort. My room was clean, stylish, and well-equipped, with a super comfy bed and a great shower. The staff was friendly and helpful throughout my stay. One of the best parts was the location — close to everything I wanted to explore, including restaurants, shops, and the beach (if in Miami). Perfect for a relaxing and stylish stay. I’d definitely come back!

Very functional and thoughtful rooms. Staff were excellent. Enjoyed beach access with towels and chairs available. The mini fridge was very cold, which we enjoyed. There was a water dispenser available. Great ocean view room!

My husband and I stayed at the Avalon for two nights prior to taking a Caribbean cruise for our honeymoon, and our only complaint is that we only spent two nights here! What a wonderful start to our trip! Both the hotel and South Beach are so atmospheric and the art deco styling is timeless. You are right in the heart of the historic South Beach area and just a few paces away from the lovely sandy beach and beautiful sea. As this is an older hotel, the rooms are comfortable but not hugely spacious but come with everything you would want (including A/C which as a Brit abroad is an absolute must have!) The shower has great water pressure, there's a nice big TV with a good selection of channels, plus a couple of beach chairs included which we made use of. The complementary metal reusable water bottles were a nice touch and could be easily refilled at the water fountain just outside our room. We stayed in 205 which has a view directly over the sea that literally took our breath away when we first arrived (photo included). The highlight of the hotel is the staff. Each and every person we interacted with was attentive, friendly and welcoming. Sonia provided us with a lovely greeting and smile every time we saw her and was knowledgeable about the area, Manny was excellent at serving us breakfast and lunch (I highly recommend the Capellini, which was absolutely delicious and tasted fresh), and Diego mixed us some fantastic maracuya cocktails which were the perfect accompaniment to sip on the terrace as we watched the world go by in the afternoon, with the lovely sea breeze keeping us cool. If we are lucky enough to return to Miami one day, we will definitely stay at the Avalon and we can't recommend it more highly!

Google
I had a great 1 night stay at the Avalon! The room was nice and clean. The staff was super nice and was able to accommodate an early check in request. They offered complementary bottled water (with refills) and coffee/tea. On top of that, I had left my rings in the room at check out. I called back hours later and the amazing housekeeping manager, Reinaldo Fuentes, had turned them in! They mailed them to me with no hassle!!! I am so grateful to the kind service and generosity the staff showed! I will definitely stay here again! 🫶🏾

Google
Really love this place . The rooms and bathrooms are small but you’re not there to stay in all day. The beach is right across the street and they even give you beach chairs. The staff at the Avalon is exceptional , especially Rosario and the bartender at happy hour; their service is top-notch. This is the only place we stay when visiting South Beach.

Google
A Wonderful Stay with Just One Bump We had a very comfortable and pleasant stay at the Avalon Hotel. The room was spotlessly clean and the bed incredibly comfortable. One of the thoughtful touches we really appreciated was the reusable aluminum water bottles provided in the room, which we could refill as many times as we wanted—eco-friendly and convenient! The staff were all very polite and helpful, and we especially enjoyed the complimentary coffee each morning—a perfect way to start the day. The only downside during our stay was our experience with the night hostess at the hotel’s restaurant (we didn’t catch her name, possibly Destina or something similar). She had short black hair usually tied in a ponytail, and unfortunately her attitude and approach were quite rude and unwelcoming. It was disappointing considering the rest of the staff were so professional. That said, the restaurant manager kindly made up for it by offering us a complimentary cake, which was a lovely gesture and much appreciated. The guitar music at night was okay, adding a nice touch to the ambiance, though we found the restaurant prices to be a bit overrated compared to other spots we dined at nearby which offered better value. Overall, the Avalon Hotel was a great place to stay, and aside from one negative interaction, everything else was top-notch. We would definitely consider coming back!

Google
Staying at this hotel for the first time was amazing! It is truly a hidden gem on the corner of 7th St and Ocean Drive in SoBe. The hotel staff were always friendly and helpful. The front desk staff were accommodating and kind. Food was good, and the best part was the beach access during our stay for free and the chairs and towels that were also free to use each time we went. The beach was very clean, and we only needed to walk across the road to get to. My partner and I will absolutely be visiting again in the future!

Google
This hotel exceeded my expectations because most of the hotels are run down and old but they upgraded the rooms and made them very modern and art deco vibe. The flirting is wood PVC and nice lay out. All they need now is balconies but aside from they the location was perfect and it’s in the heart of south beach so you don’t need a car, you can walk anywhere and all the main attractions are nearby (e.g., Mangos, Wet Willie’s, Milano and Pelican reataurants and CVS is 2 doors down so it’s extremely convenient and right across from the beach. In your hotel room you can see the beach and water if you’re at least on the 3rd or 2nd floor. I would highly recommend staying here!

Yelp
Quick stop to grab a bite to eat. Food was very good. Price is reasonable and the view is really beautiful. 5 Stars+ Sergio was an amazing server.

Yelp
Honestly I do not understand the 3.6 stars. This hotel is historical. It's prime location. Staff is all accommodating and friendly. Rooms are clean. Quiet on the second floor. Ac hits. Shower water hits. Bed is comfy. Price is fair. What are people complaining about? This should be 4 stars minimal.

Yelp
Good was good. Nice little spot to eat and just hang out . The staff is polite and friendly.

Yelp
Avalon Hotel has this romantic dinning area with indoor and outdoors dining, although I've only been here for breakfast. I've been setting so many pastries and sweets in Miami so I opted for vegetable omelet that was delicious!!! It was cooked to perfection with most of the vegetables diced which makes it easier to eat, especially if you don't like vegetables. But since this was seasoned and cooked just right it was delicious accompanied by small roasted potatoes also nice and moist not dry. Well I had to come back and try the baked French toast that was superb!!!! It had two different toppings which I'm not really sure what they are but buttery delicious with hints of honey. This is a must try spot for breakfast. Oops I forgot to mention that the service is amazing with helpful happy employees!!!!!

Yelp
What a find!! The morning staff from Sergio and all were so professional-thoughtful. We cannot recommend this place enough.

Yelp
Pros: The hotel is away from all of the noise of Ocean Drive, they have a live guitarist who plays every night, free continental breakfast, kind staff, the shower was hot, good views of the ocean, near a CVS if you need anything, free shampoo/conditioner/lotion/tissues, quick check-out and check-in process, quiet hotel Cons: No coffee in the room, outdated features (rust on the door hinges, cracks in the floor, etc), the shower filled up fast, and the bed was super soft (my husband and I are used to harder beds and we are athletes, so the soft bed messed with our hips and legs), the elevator was slow, only cable tv Overall score: B

Yelp
Decided to stay at the Avalon Hotel in South Beach Miami before a cruise to celebrate my wife's birthday. Let me tell you we're SO glad we did! This historic hotel is located on South Beach Miami's famous Ocean Ave. Even before we entered the hotel we were treated like royalty. Every member of the Avalons staff were amazing. Even though we only stayed for a short time the experience was one were telling even about!!! Thanks again to everyone at the Avalon Hotel for your exceptional service!!! WE'LL BE BACK!

Yelp
Staff are very friendly and accommodating. All our requests were accommodated. Elevators are super slow. Take the stairs. Light continental Breakfast is served daily from 7 to 11am at the bar, in the lobby downstairs. Scrambled eggs, toast, packaged muffins, stale croissants, bananas, apples, coffee, tea, orange juice, and oatmeal. Very light, just a tiny snack to get by, so don't expect to be full. The hotel is pretty old. The walls are super thin. You will hear EVERYthing that is happening in neighboring rooms. We were in room 214. Our upstairs neighbors in room 314 woke up yelling at 6am and were super loud all morning so we got no sleep. We asked to switch rooms. We got room 316, on the highest (3) floor. Our next door neighbors in room 318 returned home drunk at 3am and were yelling and making a scene, so someone had to call the staff. Bring quality earplugs. In addition to your bill, you will be charged $25 per day per person as a "resort fee". What total bs, but a lot of hotels right on the beach charge this nonsense fee. What this enables you to do is to borrow a beach towel and chair to take to the beach.

Bonnie A.

Yelp
Stayed at Avalon Hotel. Great location. Friendly staff. I suggest if checking in do not take room 123. We found out at 7:00 am. The room is next to an alley that has three huge dumpsters that the garbage man dumps every morning at 7:00 am. Hard to believe they even rent out this room

Yelp
This hotel gets a 4 for many reasons: 1) location is perfect and rates are reasonable 2) customer service was great 3) no problems with the elevator 4) public parking was close (on Collins Avenue) but very expensive - at least $80 to $100/day The only concerns we had that would make us try another hotel in the same are are: 1) the beds were very uncomfortable 2) be prepared for small rooms - this is an old hotel 3) air conditioner wall unit is loud and blowing right in the bed next to it so put your hot flashers & night sweaters in that bed/on that side. There are extra blankets in the closet too 4) no room service BUT you can order food from Uber eats or downstairs and take it upstairs (liquor too) If you booked a room here because you want to relax and get some rest/sleep, this may not be the hotel for you BUT if you're gonna be out all day and then pass out at night, you may not notice how miserable you are in that bed, lol.

Yelp
I had the pleasure of staying at The Avalon Hotel during Art Basel (Dec 1-Dec 7) and the property, customer service, location, and amenities exceeded my expectations. For those at the Avalon reading this review, my room was under my legal name, Amy Ballard. ;) Staff: The front desk staff is extremely friendly, accommodating, and on top of their game-- I never felt like I would be led astray with them. Likewise, every morning when I enjoyed the comprehensive continental breakfast in a relaxing, clean, and chic environment (with an outdoor patio overlooking the ocean to boot), I was greeted by friendly staff who were excited to see me each morning. When we checked out and could not get a late check out, the front desk generously held onto our bags so we could enjoy Miami for another four hours before heading to the airport. Room: I had an ocean front room overlooking the famous Ocean Drive, the yellow retro car the Avalon is known for, and many beautiful palm trees. It can get a bit loud, but it's Ocean Drive-- one of the most popular streets for parties and entertainment in the country, not too mention, I was there for Art Basel. The room came equipped with beach chairs and a roomy closet along with modern toiletries. At first I could not locate my hair dryer, lol, but the front desk was super helpful and directed me where to find it (at the top of the closet). Room service was top notch and hooked us up with extra toiletries. Amenities: Wow-- A Fish Called Avalon (will write a separate review about the restaurant too) is one of the most delicious restaurants I have ever had a pleasure of dining in. On our last night, we ate at the Fish Called Avalon, which is attached to the hotel. The food was unique, and tasted amazing. The staff too, was friendly, doting, and unpretentious. The service in Miami is so much better than I have ever had in Los Angeles, where I lived for almost 14 years before moving to Las Vegas. Miami even gives Vegas a run for its money. There is an amazing continental breakfast with eggs, sausage, fruit, granola, yogurt, juice, and strong coffee that's complimentary with your stay as well. I looked forward to it every morning. Location: Fabulous location-- literally a five minute walk across the street to the beach and surrounded by restaurants and entertainment. There is also a CVS open 24 hours for little things one may need when traveling. It does take some time when wanting to Lyft or Uber to Brickell, Wynwood, or other areas but it was super close to the convention center where Basel was. Obviously South Beach in and of itself has tons to do. Cost: Very reasonable cost! However it is best to book upfront an in advance for the best rate. I can't wait to return, thank you Avalon!

Yelp
Great location right across from the beach!! The rooms were on the smaller side for 4 people but it worked. Not many frills - but we were thankful for it beach chairs. The hotel also provides beach towels for use. There's also a continental breakfast included - we did have to pay extra for an omelet station one day but it was good. I'm thankful for the daily room cleaning because coming from the beach with sand everywhere was wrecking my nerves, lol. You do have to park in a parking garage down the block which was kind of expensive but expected I guess. Overall, great location if what you're looking for is on the beach and affordable and would consider staying here again with our kiddos. Staff was also friendly.

Yelp
Meh. Pros: great location, friendly staff, "free" breakfast. Cons: the breakfast isn't much to choose from, rooms are tiny and my particular room faced a brick wall, no pool, and there's a $25 a night "resort fee" this hotel is not a resort. The fee is for the use to borrow beach towels which we never used but still paid $100 for. I'm so over hotels charging extra BS fees. I've been to Miami many times and have stayed at much nicer hotels that were worth the money.

Yelp
Last time I came to Miami was 5 years ago and I was disappointed with the hotel we stayed at. So it was important that I found somewhere to make up for it this time. My wife and I were very happy with our stay here. Great location! Prime! Can't say enough positive things. We will be back !
google avatar

Yelp
This hotel is in a great location. Literally across from the beach and walking distance to cvs, wet willies, and other restaurants. The beds were comfortable and the room itself was decent. I will say the hotel is outdated but it's kept up pretty decently but staff. The breakfast was good and staff were so sweet and welcoming I would definitely stay again.

Annie K.

Yelp
Happy hour is awesome after a day at the beach! Highly recommend the muscles and bang bang shrimp, if you like curry. S/o to Renee for the amazing service and attention! Will def be back

Yelp
This was my first time in Miami Beach. My friend booked this hotel. Upon arrival we were told the elevators were not working and we were on the top floor. Then as we enter the room a horrible stench in the bathroom bothered us, in which we then had to buy a air freshener of some sort to get rid of the smell. Also, after looking around i came across a big dead cockroach just there on the floor. The stool chair had stains. Very small space to walk around in room. Bathtub and sink wasnt draining properly and the shower head wouldnt give full water because half of it was still coming from the bottom. Overall hotel was just average for me. Breakfast was given in to-go packages and were the same menu every day. Aside from being walking distance to the beach, I had no other interest. Not worth the money I had to give..
google avatar

Mariah M.

Yelp
The only reason I can't give them 5 stars is because there is construction taking place on the backside of the hotel where we are located, and every morning around 8/8:30am drilling begins and you can hear and feel the vibrations in the room. This lasted most of the day so we were woken up early and couldn't get any naps in during the day. Very annoying :( Other than that, we've enjoyed the stay. Clean room, nice front desk staff, great location.

Jeanine P.

Yelp
This hotel was great. It's clean, and the staff are so great. The rooms were comfortable. I especially loved the art work in the lobby. I will most definitely stay here again. And the restaurant has amazing food.
google avatar

Lameka S.

Yelp
If you're looking for a place that has beach access this is definitely the place. The price for one night was good being as though we can walk out of the hotel and be on the beach. The hotel itself is older and carried a stench but the room was very comfortable. The hotel has a restaurant which is a plus but I will say it is extremely expensive. There are many restaurants in walking distance of the hotel and things to do so the area is short of boring. Its very loud and busy. The nightlife was amazing!!!
google avatar

Emiel B.

Yelp
Winner of the best location award!! This is prime real estate. If you want quick beach access and to be at the beginning of the strip, this is the place for you. Well, considering you don't mind a few things: - small rooms (very tight spaces) - not updated at all, with the exception of the 2002 television model (since its south beach, who's watching tv anyway) - outdated bathroom - hidden mini fridge in the closet - dirty carpet - spring mattresses (if you have back pains, this is not for you...if you don't have back pains, congratulations, now you do) - worlds scariest elevator - poor ventilation Other than these, it was a great stay. The bottom line is, it's not terrible. It's just not for honeymoons or anniversaries. It's simply a hotel that's reminiscent of a state route motel, except it's on Miami Beach. Side note: George was awesome!! He is the Avalon Hotel.
google avatar

Chandler D.

Yelp
Hotel rooms didn't have enough room to maneuver about, the drain was clogged with hair. I asked for blanket because all they give you is a sheet on a hard bed and was told they don't do that. Staff wasn't friendly either, would not recommend.
google avatar

Gabriel S.

Yelp
Location, Location, Location!!! The Avalon is right in the heart of Miami South Beach and it's a great place to stay if your main concern is being where the action is. If Location is not a huge factor on your list of must haves and you're looking for a hotel that has more to offer in terms of amenities, style, quality, and cleanliness, then I'd say, this is not the hotel you want stay in. Their service staff (George) was awesome!! However, The buildings exterior was under construction and it seems that they need to put more money into renovating the interior, in my humble opinion. The rooms were small and outdated, our beach chairs were broken, the elevator was creepy and the complimentary breakfast should offer more from the 2 attached restaurants on site. All-in-All, There was nothing special about the Avalon that would make me stay there again besides it's location. Stay Yelping my friends!
google avatar

Nicole B.

Yelp
Booked a 5 night stay at the Avalon Hotel and I'm not impressed. The WI-FI is terrible, way overpriced for what you get, they serve the same continental breakfast every morning, and unless you're here to party every night, the noise is unbearable. Rooms are very outdated but fairly clean. The staff is very friendly, however.
google avatar

Veronica H.

Yelp
If you check in during the evening ask for Alex!!! Great person goes above and beyond to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. Remains calm during the most stressful situations, truly a gem to my stay!! Thank Alex it's all the little things you did that count!!!!
google avatar

Christine P.

Yelp
Upon arrival George was very friendly and very informative. Gave us a couple restaurant suggestions and told us what to avoid. Hotel is historical, great location. Our room was 120. Located right on 7th street and close to ocean drive, noisy area but overall great location. Two queen beds were very comfortable. Beach chairs and towels provided, that was an awesome amenity. Bathroom good size. Would definitely recommend.
google avatar

G M.

Yelp
If you want like da Ritz Carlton, dis ain't it. If like history and nostalgia, DIS IZ IT! Yeah, da AC was little bit loud and da floor made noise but, NO CAN GO WRONG!
google avatar

Kemal K.

Yelp
Customer service lacked a little bit of hospitality. However, my room was booked late into the night and the gentleman had no problem accommodating us. The view was great, the price was greater, and all in all the room was spacious and cleanly.
google avatar

Earlene R.

Yelp
This small hotel has a wonderful location just across the street from the beach. The amenities of beach chairs and towels are provided. Being an older hotel the rooms are a bit small but well decorated and very comfortable. I high recommend this facility with its accommodating staff, as well as their restaurant, A Fish Called Avalon. We enjoyed an excellent dinner there.
google avatar

Marvin M.

Yelp
Have been there 3 times. The staff is very helpful and the place is very clean. Thank you Edith for your help with the flowers for my wife and for having them set on the room before our arrival on Memorial day weekend. She loved them. Will defenately come back. Food at the restaurant is excellent.

Daryn H.

Yelp
This hotel is well situated because it's on the corner where the valet is. You can get dropped off there and go into the hotel whereas if you're at another hotel that's in the middle of the block you have to carry all your bags and everything all the way down the street into the hotel. George the receptionist was fantastic & the woman that took care of breakfast was wonderful and took care of us. It's a great economical hotel In a super location! We had an ocean view and it was worth it.
google avatar

Albert P.

Yelp
First off, if you are looking for The Ritz Carlton, The W, or the Fountainebleu, this is not it. All of the Hotels in the BEST locations where the action is all at off of Ocean Drive are much older and have been around forever. Matter of fact, if you are a fan of Scarface, this Hotel was just 2 doors down from the infamous "Chainsaw scene" in Scarface which was also off of Ocean Drive. I knew this hotel was going to be way older than other much more expensive hotels, but my main concern was, was it clean? And this hotel was VERY Clean. Customer Service was A1, Everything was clean, you get a Iron, ironing board, blow dryer, safe, mini fridge, Cable TV, COLD A/C, Robes, plenty of extra towels and ofcouse the soaps/shampoos/lotions etc. The Wi-Fi internet is also FREE, and I had 5 Bar connection everywhere in the hotel. I was very happy because it never had slow speeds at any time. They do not have a Pool, but who needs one when you literally walk out onto the beach. If you do need a pool tho, just take a 5-10 minute walk up the strip to their Sister hotel, South Seas Hotel (Which was seen in Jay-Z's first music video, "Aint No"- which shows you again, these hotels have been around for some time). South Seas has a Pool that all Avalon residents can use, which also has a bar next to it. The Avalon also has a 5 Star Seafood Restaurant called "A Fish Called Avalon" which I highly recommend. Also, while I was there, they were renovating and said when they are done it will have a revamped look and sound proof walls; so I will definitely be interested in staying at the Avalon again. They do offer a small continental breakfast which includes Coffee, a Pastry, and Cereal/ or Fruit Cup. If you want anything more hardcore like Omelletes, you will have to pay for it (Approx $10- which may sound like a lot until you go to other restaurants on the strip and realize everything else is $25+) But This is Miami. If you want a true South Beach experience, go to the Avalon. I know I will be back.

Yelp
Love, love, loved it here! Let's start with the location, right on Ocean DR, in the midst of all the restaurants, bars, stores and across the street from the beach! It's a great location we didn't have to take a single cab to get anywhere expect the airport. The staff was amazing! So friendly and helpful. We arrived on a Saturday around 11 and they let us check in early. The gentlemen in the front (wish I remembered his name) was so hospitable. Gave us recommendations to things in the area, always greeted us with a smile and remembered who we were. First day, we did have a toilet over flow.... I called the front desk literally in a the matter of a minute, we had three crew members in our room resolving the issue. Take about customer service! They also have a guest computer room to print out boarding passes or just go online or whatever you need. The rooms were small! We stayed in the oceanfront room, four girls and it was tight with our luggage and all. Barely any space to move around but we weren't in the room long enough to care. The downside to the oceanfront rooms is that you are facing ocean drive... Loud music, loud people, you hear it all. No afternoon naps over here. They also provide continental breakfast to all guests. Bagels, croissants, toast, boiled eggs, fruit, yogurt, etc. huge plus! I would stay here in a heartbeat. Great location, amazing staff, and feet away from the ocean.

David M.

Yelp
Guys you have to come here!!! Authentic Miami look in front of the ocean. Great place to stay, awesome food and amazing customer service. All the employs are very nice and helpful especially George at the front desk. Thank you, coming back for sure!
google avatar

Chris T.

Yelp
This hotel was a Gem. Customer service is on point. We checked in a t midnight with no problems flight was delayed. Everything and I mean everything was literally all around us. The Kardashian's store Dash was right behind our hotel including all the main highlight shopping store. Great restaurants and the beach was a skip across the street Now with that said the hotel is a bit worn down. Need some TLC for sure. But the room was decent. Carpet old and needs changing the bed was sleepable. The bathroom was clean but teeny tiny literally one person at a time. The AC blows very cold which was a plus for a hot humid weather outside this helps me sleep. Other than that over I would say weighing out the pros and cons I would come back. If you can afford something fancier that go for it but if your looking for a great deal in the heart of it all this hotel was great
google avatar

Mr. M.

Yelp
George checked us in, he is very accommodating and helpful. An easy person to deal with, great energy all the time, and always welcoming. Thanks for making our week stay a home away from home. Continental breakfast is amazing, every morning the Croissant and Madeleine are baked fresh. George makes the best coffee and espresso. The morning breakfasts staff are all amazing. Very clean hotel because the cleaning staff are also very kind and helpful. Everyone seems to be happy working here which makes the energy of this hotel very pleasant. Ive had breakfast lunch and dinner here, all those times food has been more than satisfying and tasty. Great location close to everything but far enough from the hectic parts of ocean. Cvs around the corner and Walgreens. Walking distance to laundry and Collins street shopping behind the hotel. The hotel is under renovation but they've made it really workout for everyone and still very pretty out in the front dining area. Overall the staff is amazing which makes this hotel very pleasant and cozy!
google avatar

Kerry D.

Yelp
2 star hotel 5 star restaurant The rooms are small and very outdated. You can hear EVERYTHING. your neighbors and the ppl blasting their music outside. It's in the middle of everything which is good as far as location but bad for when u want to sleep. It is SO loud outside until 3am some nights ! Bring your ear plugs. There didn't seem to be any concierge/staff overnight which made it feel a little unsafe to me. This hotel has so much potential if they renovated. The place is def in need of a facelift. The restaurant on the other hand....amazing authentic seafood. So tasty, delicious and the love music and waiters were great

Yelp
Ok, first of all let me explain my review, I am giving a 2.5-3 star hotel 5 stars. Don't go here expecting the Ritz but this is why I gave it 5 stars: Location: Ocean Drive, 700 block and there is a public garage on 7th right behind the hotel, $20 a day, way better than valet if you don't need your car, which you don't. ON 7th in case you forgot ANYTHING it is in there, Eternity Beachwear & Market, seriously everything is in this store. Easy access to the beach across the street, short walk to all the shops and bars and restaurants. Directly behind the hotel on Collins is Puerto Saga, amazing Cuban. Restaurant: A Fish Called Avalon, we didn't eat there but regretted that, it looked very nice and was packed at night. Room: Very clean, updated not super long ago, ac blowing cold. Staff: Everyone we encountered was very nice and helpful. Booked: Through expedia which worked out fine. Been going to South Beach for years and it is hit or miss on Ocean Drive unless you are paying $400-500 a night and then sometimes it is still a disappointment so for the price this place was fabulous, will book there again soon!

Heather M.

Yelp
Hotel not kept up. Very dated. Bathroom - shower was dripping all not toilet did not flush well required 2 flushes most of the time. Filter in ac unit in room was dirty needed to be scrubbed badly. Due to my allergies I am bothered by those things. Ice machine was down on first floor. So it was spring break ocean avenue was closed unable to access valet parking. Had to park as close as we could went in spoke to front desk staff to see what to do and where to park. Had to park down the street at a garage and pay and walk with luggage two large suit cases and bags. Front desk staff would not allow to cancel despite explaining we wanted something in a quieter area and not have to drag our luggage through the crowds and a block away.
google avatar

Shravan S.

Yelp
Excellent location and the front desk attendant and staff was courteous and super helpful. This hotel is on the Ocean drive - once you park your car at the hotel(valet parking), you can explore the whole area by walk. Hotel is clean and tidy. Rooms are pretty good too. Will definitely come again.

Yelp
Staying here with my company and was just refused to be served ginger beer for my business associate who doesn't drink alcohol. The manager had to be brought into the situation, and he initially refused in an unkindly manner. I had to explain more than once that my associate doesn't drink, which is absolutely unnecessary. The location and view is great but customer service is definitely not a priority. *Edit: Since my initial review, the staff at Avalon has been absolutely fantastic. They've been very accommodating to both me and my company. Both the hotel and the restaurant staff have been kind and welcoming from sunrise to sunset. I would like to especially thank the front desk clerk Jorge, for always making sure I'm content with my state. Thank you for your services.

Yelp
Love the hotel. Very clean. It is older but it does have character. Perfect spot to be close to the beach. Close to night life and dinning up and down the strip. Front desk manager was pleasant and very accommodating. I would suggest this place considering cost and locality as a great place to stay!

Yelp
I don't think I would want to stay at this hotel again. It's horrible. We stayed here overnight because our flight to Costa Rica wasn't until the next morning. First of all there's a restaurant in the lobby of the hotel called, "A fish Called Avalon". The restaurant seems like a popular spot, however, the room we got was three or four doors down from this restaurant. The means and women's public restroom was basically neighbors with our room. Because of this, the hallway smelled of fish, bathroom, and oldness. The room was dingy and basic, NOT worth what we paid for the room. Another negative, when I picked up my luggage the next morning from the floor there was a huge roach on it. Gross! DO NOT be fooled by their website. Their rooms are ABSOLUTLEY NOTHING like the pictures; Far from it. I would rate the rooms pictured on their website as an 8 or 9, and the actual rooms we got a 4... out of 10. Find another hotel! Their complimentary breakfast was decent and customer service was good but I still would not come back here.

Yelp
My best friend and I planned a last minute trip to Miami and ending up booking 4 nights at the Avalon Hotel at a great rate. We had previously called about an early check in because we landed at 6 A.M. and were told check in was at 3. We went to the hotel at 7 A.M. with our luggage hoping to get some storage, when we were greeted by the manager George. George was absolutely incredible. He actually allowed us to check in right there at 7 A.M. and even allowed us a late check out our last day and luggage storage because our flight was late in the day. In addition, George was so generous with his time and effort, making sure we were as pleased as we could be. The Avalon is a beautiful hotel with an incredible location, and the manager George's wonderful hospitality was just the cherry on top.

Yelp
Just had an overall pleasant experience here. It's in a great location. The prices weren't bad at all. And the staff and all was phenomenal. There's no specific examples that I have for this. Other than, every time I had any dealings with anyone working here, from the desk to the cleaning women, I felt appreciated as I hope they did also.

Yelp
I want to start by saying THANK YOU!!!! to GEORGE, I have not stayed @ the AVALON but my daughter and her Fiance will be in the next 24 hours. This review is to thank George for his great customer service on the one phone call and simple request of a simple pastry and note to be placed prior to my daughter check in on 3/12/2015, George with NO hesitation said YES!!! and asked that I contact him to confirm my request was taken care of. I am one where "Customer Service" speaks for itself and when you receive that at any place, that is the place where I want to return. George!!! THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH!!! YOU ROCK!!! to be cont..... I will let you all know if request was achieved... :) Shirley

Yelp
Places like the Avalon have an amazing opportunity to be the experience tourist crave when they come to Miami Beach. But sadly its an opportunity lost. Let's start with the Pro's Location, Location Location, great spot nestled along the beach. The walk to the water was about 45 seconds and the concierge was helpful enough to give us some towels as we strolled out the front door. Which leads me to our the service of the concierge which was amazing. So helpful, energetic, courteous and seemed to be someone who really enjoyed their job. Con's. Attempting to use the valet service I would compare to establishing peace talks between Israel and Palestine. Circling the block not once, not twice but three times all resulted in no valet service. We ended up giving up and finding a garage 3 blocks away. If your looking for a place to actually sleep I would suggest staying anywhere but here. The heating and cooling unit (HVAC) turned on and off about every 15 minutes. This would have been fine for me if I were accustomed to sleeping in the same room as a running lawnmower but since I am not it was a real nuisance. If you have plans to sleep past 5 AM I would suggest looking somewhere else. Being that this establishment is on a corner the trash pick occurs right outside your window. If your not awake from the HVAC unit, a two ton garbage truck this will certainly do the trick. Conclusion- Unless you sleep like a hibernating grizzly or plan on falling into a coma while staying at the Avalon I would suggest looking elsewhere. If you do end up staying, bask in the service of the front desk and ask for earplugs.

Yelp
I wouldn't stay here again. The proximity to the beach was awesome, George at the front desk was amazing and the bartender at night was great. That's the end of my positive part of this review. They ran out of towels! You're a hotel, how does that happen?! Edith at the front desk is a manager, yet she lacks customer service or problem solving skills. The rooms are tiny and lacking in outlets. You're clearly paying for location, but they are not investing much in the building or supplies. They claimed they didn't have a first aid kit...you have a kitchen, there's a kit somewhere. The next morning it was George to the rescue, he was the best part of that place. Check out was a pain in the ass. I'd rather have a longer walk to the beach.

Yelp
this place was OK. we stayed there 5 days and it was just alright. The staff was very helpful, accomodating and honest. I left my cell phone at the hotel. i was willing to pay shipping for them to send it back to me, but the receptionist was very nice and sent it back to me free of charge. The actual hotel was pretty small and had a weird smell in the elevator/hallway, but considering we just slept there and were out and about most of the day anyways it really wasn't that big of a deal. the nice staff made up for it :)
