"Experience the thrill of flying atop a banshee over the breathtaking landscapes of Pandora." - Travel + Leisure Editors

58 Disney World Rides and Attractions, Ranked From Worst to Best 2023
View Postcard for Avatar Flight of Passage
@cntraveler

"This 3-D flight simulator is the most impressive and technologically advanced Disney attraction yet. Part of Pandora: The World of Avatar at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, Avatar Flight of Passage, based on the record-breaking 2009 film, allows you to soar over the Pandora landscape on the back of a mountain banshee. The visuals are stunning—be sure you look around and take it all in—but that’s only part of the experience. Feel the banshee breathing as its “body” expands and contracts beneath you, the wind in your face, and the spray of the ocean. Even the smells are realistic." - Valerie Marino

The wait is very long, but that's where the fun begins, since the scenery in the queue is completely inspired by the movie; every detail is carefully thought out. I'm not lying when I say that you really feel like you're in Pandora. Then the ride itself is just another ride, with glasses supposedly for 3D viewing, which in my opinion would be better to do in HD quality, while preserving the aromas. I don't regret having done this ride and I really liked it, but I liked the wait more than the ride itself.

Carl Miller

Google
Always our favorite ride at Animal Kingdom. Long wait lines if you don’t fast pass or arrive first thing, but totally worth the wait! Highly recommend this unique ride. It’s a motorcycle-like seat with harness across back and legs. The screen is much like Soarin where the bike is rather stable but the screen and animation and slight movement make it feel like you’re flying. 10/10 every time!

Michelle Mariano

Google
Best ride ever!! My life is changed. Disney did a hell of a job on this ride. I felt like I was riding a banshee as a Navi. Hands down. Think Disneys soaring ride but you’re sitting on a banshee and getting your own avatar. Just ride it.

Maggie S

Google
Be prepared for a LONG wait. Some of the waiting line is outdoors on a 'rock trail' but shaded and other parts are indoors within the 'mountain'. I will say time and time again, there should be SOME benches along the waiting lines, especially the notoriously LONG lines. Once we were well into our wait, an announcement came on that said the ride was running at half capacity or something, so it would take even longer (ugh). Once at the actual ride, it was cool: 3D glasses, on a bike type seat and then a virtual flying experience similar-esque to Soarin'. Very cool, although in hind sight-not sure worth the 2+ hours standing in a line.

Google
Well worth the wait. Everyone loves it. I wasn't really sure what to expect beforehand but can easily say this is a must-do for any future visits. Like any Disney ride, the immersive experience is top-notch.

💙Avatar Flight of Passage is one of the most amazing rides at Disney. It’s located in Pandora – The World of Avatar, and it’s truly like stepping into another world. The ride lets you fly on the back of a banshee, and it feels so real! The visuals are stunning, the movements are smooth, and you even feel the wind and smell the scents of Pandora. It’s exciting, emotional, and completely immersive—like you’re really in the movie. The line can be long, but the experience is absolutely worth the wait. For me, it’s one of the best attractions Disney has ever created. If you visit Animal Kingdom, this ride is a must-try!

George Chalhoub

Google
My favorite ride! Innovation exciting thrilling loved it! I’ve never experienced something like this before

Google
Do it! You're transformed to a Na'vi and would ride a Banshee through the woods and reefs of Pandora! What a stunning 3D ride! Lightning Lane recommended. Nice shop.

Yelp
Avatar Flight of Passage is like nothing you've ever experienced before, mate. Picture this: you're strapped onto the back of a mighty Banshee, ready to take flight and explore the breathtaking landscapes of Pandora. As you soar through the air, you can feel the wind rushing past you and the sun warming your face. But it's not just a ride, it's a journey into another world. The stunning 3D visuals transport you to the heart of Pandora, where lush forests, towering mountains, and cascading waterfalls stretch as far as the eye can see. It's like stepping into the Avatar universe itself. And let me tell ya, the sensation of flying is so real, you'll swear you can feel the Banshee's wings beating beneath you. It's an exhilarating experience that'll leave you breathless and wanting more. So if you're ready to unleash your inner explorer and soar across the skies of Pandora, Avatar Flight of Passage is the ride for you. Just hold on tight and get ready for the flight of a lifetime.

Yelp
Avatar Flight of Passage is located in the Animal Kingdom theme park at Disney World. It's one of the most popular rides in the park and when we arrived it was where most people went to first. On the ride, you fly on a banshee with goggles and it feels like you've been transported to Pandora. It was very immersive and even included some water effects. There was some motion sickness but it was one of my favorite rides in the park.

Jackson Y.

Yelp
This is the marquee attraction at Disneys Animal Kingdom. It is a large 3D motion simulator where you are "riding" a banshee over the world of Pandora (from the Avatar movie). The screen is large and immersive. You do get the feeling that you are flying through the air. The downside is that there is a 120 minute wait in line. The normal Disney Genie Lightning Lane ticket upgrade does not include this ride ... you have to pay for an "individual " lightning lane exclusively for this ride....

Deiro P.

Yelp
This is by far the best ride at animal kingdom, and one of my favourites at disney. Many are talking about the wait time being about 3 hours but when i went it was only about 40 minutes. The queue to the ride is extremely creative, and builds suspense to what might happen on the ride. 10/10 ride.

Britney M.

Yelp
Don't go on this if you are scared of heights! I thought since this is just a simulation, that I would be fine. I heard it was just like the Soarin' California ride, and it is to come extent. But it's way more immersive than the Soarin' ride. You sit on the banshee, which is basically like sitting on a motorcycle, and then get tossed around every which way. It's really scary if you are scared of heights. I thought I was really falling. Like I knew that I was in that room, sitting on the pretend banshee, with a screen in front of me, but my brain was believing it was real. I had to close my eyes and use some of my breathing skills to get through this ride. I am not even kidding lol It was a lot for me. The sensation of falling almost straight down was terrifying, and those banshees are not comfortable to sit on. It is uncomfortable and then you are thrashed around in every direction during the ride. It wasn't fun to me at all. I couldn't enjoy it. But my friend loved it. She had a blast. She does not have a fear of heights.

Thomas B.

Yelp
This was such a fun ride, highly recommend grabbing the genie plus pass for this. I wasn't able to get one during my last visit and was lined up for nearly 3 hours. I will say it was worth the wait and I'll be going again soon, hopefully with the genie pass in hand.

William C.

Yelp
One of the most popular rides in Animal Kingdom. This is a great ride as long as you are not sensitive to motion sickness. It rides like a combo of Soaring and Star Tours. Most definitely a motion simulator ride in 3D. Pro Tip: Ride is busy from opening, but lines bearable towards closing in the early evening. You'll get a couple rides in just before close.

Diana V.

Yelp
First timer at Disney world here. This was the best ride I rode out of all 4 parks! I'm a Texas gal so my theme park experience is limited to six flags and sea world. There's no other ride like this there! You really do feel like you're flying! They sit you like the motorcycle rides at arcades and lean you forward, something I've never experienced. The designs and colors are gorgeous and the story is amazing. They spray some mist too and it really feels like you are there. Absolutely worth the long lines or money for the fast pass. It was funny the ride was closed for a short period and when it re opened people were sprinting to the ride it was madness- rightfully so. Great for adults and kids alike. If I go back to Disney this will be for sure on the must stops. Add for sure to the top of your musts on your next trip!

Michelle L.

Yelp
Pretty cool ride! They picked a great theme from the movies to base it off. Once you get closer to the front of the line, you'll start hearing announcements about potentially bailing out of the line if you're afraid of heights or prone to motion sickness. Regarding the first point, it's a 4d ride so the drops are all on screen so there's no actual falling. For the latter point, it's a pretty similar feeling to Star Tours or any of those other rides. I'm not great on those rides so if you do want the whole experience and get on anyways, I'd recommend looking at the top of the screen where things move less. It's worth checking out as it's a really different set up than other rides. You're almost in a bike riding position for this one and your base moves! Some bonuses....Disney anticipated that this like is gonna be LONG. There's a water fountain and restrooms along the way.

Maggie H.

Yelp
Avatar: Flight of Passage was the new, impressive ride at Disney that didn't break down when I rode it! (That's a reference to 2 SW rides at Disney Studios.) We rode the ride with a Make-a-Wish party and learned that one can't ride it with a feeding bag in place, but the young man's family was able to remove the bag and secure it with other personal articles in the back of the room. It's a 3D ride. You are positioned in something like a bicycle-riding pose. Eh, not really. Look up photos of the ride for an idea. I thoroughly enjoyed the first half of the ride. Then I started feeling sick and I kept my eyes closed for most of the duration. But I'd do it again. It may have been my companion's favorite ride of our 5 days at Disney.

Yelp
Spoilers ahead! The best ride in the Animal Kingdom, this is along the lines of the Soar ride in the Epcot park, you have a big place to stash your pack + small items right behind you and you get on a motorbike-like ride seat that replicates riding on the back of a banshee. A giant curved hemispherical screen has multiple riders on each rack but you're not paying attention as the graphics are amazing and in 4D, though there was one part where the ride was a bit fuzzy.. not sure if that was an angle problem or intentional as you do get wind + some water droplets on you periodically throughout. This is one where you want to either rope drop (we did this, waited no more than 30min although a lot of walking through queues throughout the park), or pay for a Lightning Lane+ as the lines here were an absurd 120-180min most of the morning we were there. Park gets hot, too, so you definitely want to make sure you bring some water if you're waiting in line. There is a bathroom in the queue about half way through, and a water fountain. Waiting in line there's a lab and various mini games on the Disney Play app, plus an "avatar" of Jake in the tube. I'd consider this one of the top rides in Disney World. Not the best, but certainly amazing and a great ride.

Yelp
Apparently the #1 attraction at Animal Kingdom, we got up early to get in line early to hit this one first and get it out of the way. The line for this one only gets longer as the day goes on, fyi. There's four screening rooms, 48 people in each = 192 people every 5 minutes, so the line kept at a good pace. The ride was fun. Personally, I still think Hagrid's coaster at Universal was more fun; but this was entertaining none the less. I have mixed feelings on 3D viewings, but this wasn't too bad. **When the line makes it to the bathrooms, your halfway there!**

Anthony F.

Yelp
This is still one of the best rides in all of Disney world after all these years. The wait was 75 mins today and it was worth it. My son was too little so it was his first time and he friggin loved it. My daughter was trying it her second time and wouldn't shut up about it for 15 mins. It is amazingly done and deserves any hype and praise. Must try if you visit AK. Im not giving them 5 stars only because of the new method of genie plus and lightning lane. Disney if u want money then charge it elsewhere. This new method is total garbage compared to fast pass of old. This is my 4th time and might be my last depending on how the rest of my trip goes.

Thomas S.

Yelp
Definitely, a top three ride for the family's Disney vacation. This is a 3-D sensory stimulation ride flying through the world of Avatar. We got on a motorcycle like contraption with 3-D glasses. Once the ride started, the contraption moved up and down and from side to side. The contraption also blew air and water droplets to match the scenery that the rider was going through. If you are prone to motion sickness, this ride might not work for you. One of the riders threw up at the end of the ride. It was such a blast that we lined up again after we finished. A minor complaint, the 3-D glasses kept slipping off for everyone in our party.

Tiffany D.

Yelp
It's like soaring California Adventures in Disneyland, but avatar style in Avatar land! The graphics are amazing and quite thrilling! Long wait! They should have single riders for sure on this ride.

Joseph G.

Yelp
Avatar flight of passage has become the signature ride of disneys animal kingdom park. Located in an area that resembles the notion picture avatar this ride is surrounded by an unbelievable looking backdrop. I've now rode this ride twice in my life. About 4 years ago when it first came out and on my most recent visit. Both times was well over a 2 hour wait. While the wait is no fun the ride very much is. One of the most innovative, creative and fun rides I've ever ridden. I've seen the movie avatar once when it first came out and can't remember much about it. But riding this makes me want to watch the movie and be a fan of it. Premise of the ride is you sit on This bike like seat and buckle in. You ride on the back of those dragon looking creatures as it takes you through the world of avatar. Visually stunning and a lot of fun. Story wise the ride could use more drama or adversity from the "villains". However it is an astonishing and cool ride. Overall a very fun ride and definitely in my top rides across the Disney parks. When people visit Orlando they always say "go to Disney for the young kiddos and universal for them more fun theme rides for the older kids". Rides like this one will help Disney close the thrill ride gap between them and universal.

Tami C.

Yelp
Update: post COVID restrictions it's all back to normal! They've definitely got the "special sauce" with this virtual reality addition. It puts Animal kingdom on the map and can compete with aNyThInG in any amusement park now! Get a lightning pass or just be prepared to wait it out. It's really worth any wait. Beautiful, unique and exciting at the same time, It's a don't miss experience. (Read my previous review for more detailed specifics)

Megan L.

Yelp
This ride is amazing! It feels so real. It really feels Iike you are in the movie flying on a banshee. You can even feel the banshee breathing. You can smell all the smells. I wish the line wasn't so long so I could ride it more times.

Lara T.

Yelp
Finally made it on Flight of passage at Disneys Animal Kingdom. We decided as soon as we got in the park to go straight for this ride and wait in line. The estimated wait time was 100 mins but while in line something happened to the ride and it was delayed and our total wait time was 120 mins. Which is quite long for a ride even if it is 4 mins long. It's a fantastic ride. You feel like you are flying through the land of Pandora on a "banshee". It's very life like and with the 3d glasses you feel like you are in the land even more. I recommend this ride but I won't wait over an hour moving forward. If you don't want to wait so long you can buy a lightning lane pass which is similar to the former fast passes. The world of Pandora in the park is definitely worth seeing though, it's beautiful and looks just like in the movie.

Emily L.

Yelp
I don't have words to describe this ride except that it's 100000% worth the wait. You're straddling like a bike type thing and it's like 3D and very immersive. It felt more like an experience than a ride. The screen was gorgeous. So many beautiful views. I almost cried it was so touching!!!! Also being indoor felt nice in the florida heat. The line has amazing decor / entertaining and since the wait was soooo long we only rode it once. Just absolutely perfect and an ode to Pandora!!! LOVED IT !!

Meg T.

Yelp
Unfortunately this ride is definitely not worth more than a 45 minute wait. It's about 4 1/2 minutes long and the waiting area attempts to be interesting but mostly consists of rocks with moss. The DNA sequencing section is just lame. You have to keep standing in line, it's an obvious time waster and adds absolutely nothing to the experience. The attempted humor of moving your arms around while the room blows air at you isn't enjoyable. That being said the ride itself is fun. It's beautiful. But the glasses don't always fit right (mine almost fell off multiple times) and sometimes make viewing the screen pretty difficult. Overall we're glad we got a chance to do it, but once was definitely enough until the wait times cool down.

Raquel H.

Yelp
This has got to be the Best Ride I've ever been on hands down! If you are in Disney's animal kingdom This should be the 1st ride that you lineup for. Especially since here in Florida the Weather is super hot and humid! The line gets super long but it the ride is worth the trip. This ride is so cool! Once you get on the Ride, You sit on the make shift Bangee And Make a connection. Put your 3-D glasses on, And it totally feels like you are in the Avatar World! You're flying, going In-and-out of mountains, water, oceans, through the forest..The smells, the watermist.... It really feels like you are there. You will love it!

Xin N.

Yelp
The worst thing I ever doing is go to here, nothing special, endless line you have to wait. We've been waiting 3 and more hours for just 2 mins see the screen. DON NOT COME HERE!

Brianna H.

Yelp
Most people really like this ride which it is cool and is an experience. It makes me super sick which i struggle from motion sickness but it affects people I know without motion sickness as well.

Tray M.

Yelp
Last December we decided to take our moms to Disney World for Christmas and they absolutely loved it! The lines at Disney World are usually long, but Avatar Flight of Passage is usually thee longest! Wait times are usually 4-5 hours but the day we took our moms we went straight over to that line without any weight. Once we got to that line wait times shot up to 2-3 hours. Once you're in line you'll notice scenes that favor the actual Avatar movie. It is absolutely amazing If you're ever at Animal Kingdom please don't miss this opportunity to fully enjoy this ride! Sivako!!!

Jacky C.

Yelp
The newest ride in Animal Kingdom and it is all the rage. Expect super long lines if you're not here at rope drop. You go through a pretty lengthy intro, but once you get through that, you sit in a bike-like ride, which replicates riding a Banshee through Pandora. You can feel your thighs expand and contract on the ride. The bike will lean and tilt with the crazy LED projection in front of you, making it realistic as possible. Have to warn you, if you get motion sickness easily, this may be a ride you want to skip.

Clay G.

Yelp
As a veteran of Disney returning after a coupe years away, I was excited to finally try out the Flight of Passage. Having been described to me as Soarin, only better, I had high expectations. Honestly, it met what I expected, I couldn't help but want for a little more. The queue for this ride is one of the best in all of Disney. There's so much to see and the experience is immersive. It made the hour and change wait absolutely fly by. If you haven't been here yet, I highly recommend taking a trip. However, this is not a ride worth sacrificing the rest of your day in the park for, so be sure to plan around a long wait.

Rachelle P.

Yelp
How do I even began to describe this amazing 3D simulator ride?! First we were given a number, than we were assigned an Avatar body and then prepared to ride our banshee's like in the movie. As we moved it was very thrilling, we were at the edge of our seat and had an absolute blast! I would HIGHLY recommend taking the this flight of passage yourself, make sure to lean forward and hold on tight as you see breathtaking views of Pandora! We'll definitely be returning to ride again!

Hoa K.

Yelp
Most fav ride ever! I love the music and the smells associated with the ride! I actually feel like I'm flying! We did the parent swapsie bc of my one year old so I didn't wait long but my sister and her man waited like 3-4 hrs bc two of the rides were not working! Fast pass is available ala-cart! It's like $15-20 extra but at this rate...it may be worth it! They sell the candle with the floral smell at the co-op store at Disney springs! It's close but not exact.

Aly W.

Yelp
Kicking myself for skipping this ride our first visit. Even if you don't care about the movie, you will love this ride. It's thrilling and enchanting. I was in awe of the details that brought it to life, from the water effects to the "breathing" of the banshees you ride. Just don't look to the side or it will spoil the illusion - though the ride will have no problems pulling you back in. We walked on first thing in the morning and waited a half hour for a second ride just before closing. The queue is fun to walk.

Khoi N.

Yelp
The best ride in Animal Kingdom. Wait times are at least 1-3 hours. Be ready even if you enter the park right when they open. Highly recommend riding this first as later on in the day I saw +3 hour wait times. Loved all of the greenery outside and once you get inside you get to experience the lab from the movie. There's plenty of motion and visuals throughout the ride. When waiting in line my friends and I swapped out to go use the restrooms or grab food. If you're a fan of Pandora or Avatar in general this is your ride.

Tony B.

Yelp
Don't stone me but I would not advise waiting 2.5 hrs like we did for this. Get the Genie pass or wait till end of evening. Or for the diehards, bring snacks and beverages. There is a restroom about 90 minutes into the queue. One of the most stimulating rides I have experienced in my lifetime. I don't want to spoil anything so my content shall be limited. You'll laugh, you'll be in awe, you'll gasp!

Anne F.

Yelp
This ride is one of my "must do" attractions during every Disney trip! I'm already a total Avatar geek. The first time I rode it I got a little teary eyed with excitement! I'll only ride with a FastPass, even with a FP+ it's usually about a 20-30 minute wait since the ride is more like a "showing". The way they designed the ride is just incredible! Keep your eyes forward and you can really lose yourself in the world of Pandora. Enjoy the sights, smells, and light mist. Look around and you'll lose some of the magic, but it's pretty cool to see how it is built. I can't recommend this ride enough!

John D.

Yelp
This is another highly attended ride and another that should be booked via genie+ if you are so inclined. If you've seen the movie the principle is similar. You are ultimately placed on board a link chamber that vaguely resembles a motorcycle. There the avatar you "matched" with rides a banshee. A 3d realistic ride through Pandora. It's actually a pretty cool ride. If you place your legs knee pads you can feel the banshee breathing. Plus you get smells of the area your in plus a small spray of water in the ocean scenes. The main problem with the ride is the wait. It can be up to 4 hrs. Today a Saturday in April the ride time is over 3 hrs. Additionally it is running at reduced capacity. Normally the ride carries about 100 riders per session. The up side is that a large portion is located in door where it is a little cooler. A final bonus, about 1/2 way thru the line there are restrooms. A bonus for parents of young ones with a small bladder

Beth E.

Yelp
I love this ride and I am somebody that gets motion sickness. I usually have to close my eyes about 3/4 of the way through, but up until that point, it is just amazing. You truly feel like you are flying on the back of a banshee. You can even feel it breathing! The line is always amazingly long, and moves slowly, but it is a pretty cool ride.

Austin B.

Yelp
Hands down one of the greatest rides that has ever been imagined by the Disney Company, if not one of the best rides in America. The themeing of the ride is absolutely jaw-dropping, as well as the detail of every little interior piece of machinery and everything that goes along with the ride. Remind me to the motion simulator you do not have any idea what you think you are getting yourself into. Basically imagine one of the most thrilling immersive motion simulator rides you have ever gone on and then Crank that up by 100%. The feeling of flying on the back of a banshee is absolutely insane while you tilt up and down and side to side flying around Pandora. What's even more wild is the feeling of the Banshee breathing on your legs. Lines for this ride can reach upwards of three to four hours and with all good reason because of this ride is absolutely out of this world no pun intended

Courtenay O.

Yelp
Three years ago the wait was 3-6 hours. This morning it was 100 minutes and before closing, 45 minutes. It was actually only 90 minutes this morning, and 30 minutes this afternoon. It was worth it both times. But no, it's not worth 2 or more hours of your life to wait for this ride. The line moved quickly outside and inside since everyone was 6 feet apart. We used our time in line to take in the surroundings outside, and then inside. When we got to the entrance for seating, riders are kept 6 feet apart from the next party in line. After a short film about the ride, we got on a motorcycle looking contraption, and after getting comfortable, we were locked in. The first time was exiting, because it was our first time. But the second time was better. That was when we felt the sides of our banshee breathe, felt more intense vibrations throughout the ride, ad even felt a light imperceptible spray of water on our faces when appropriate. We are so glad we decided to do it again! The best way to describe the actual ride is SOARING (Epcot ride) on steroids. Instead of places around the world, you see the people and animals inhabiting Pandora. You are immersed in Pandora with your 3D googles, which should fit comfortably over your perscription glasses. They were comfortable for us! It was incredible to be flying, and shifting side to side and gliding down and soaring up. THAT is not part of SOARING!

Stacy F.

Yelp
I hate to admit that I just recently rode this for the first time! It's always such a long wait, we skip by it despite the hype and great reviews. With the limitations on capacity due to COVID, I was finally able to get on this one with less than a 15 minute wait! It's a show / ride that requires glasses and a motorcycle like seated position to ride. You definitely do not want to get on this if you easily get motion sickness or have any concerns about tight fitted seating. The queue itself was one of the best parts and really immerses you into the movie and the vibe of the ride overall. They skip you past the video right now as they don't want people congregating into groups, but you get the gist enough without it. I loved the dark cave like scene with the light up mushroom plants, it was really beautiful. I know I've heard some people find this ride to be scary or to have scary parts, but I didn't get that feeling at all. It felt like a fun ride through Pandora. Overall: A I'm not sure I'd wait two hours for it, but loved the ride and glad I finally got to go!! :)

Linn P.

Yelp
So amazing and worth the wait! When it first opened, we waited about 3hrs for this ride. Now the wait time is better. About 1.5 hrs. So pretty good!! The ride is beautiful and immersive! It has a very nice smell too. They release it like vapors. It doesn't linger but it's very lovely. I wish I could find the scent I would use it all the time at home. The wait is not so bad when it's under 2 hrs because you can take pics and it's very gorgeous and surreal to walk through.

Ashley J.

Yelp
MUST RIDE! This ride takes virtual riding to another level! It was amazing and felt surreal. Definitely worth standing in line for. I didn't want the ride to end!

Melissa Y.

Yelp
Such a cool ride this is definitely a favorite of ours. If you get motion sickness at all then skip this one The graphics are pretty amazing, and you legit feel like you're flying. Give it a try.

Andy V.

Yelp
I think it's a pretty safe assumption based on my experience at all of the Disney Parks here in Florida that Avatar Flight of the Passage is my favorite ride experience. I maybe still don't understand why someone would wait three hours to ride something that takes 4 and a half minutes to experience, but if you get a fast pass or catch it on a "slow" day, oh my goodness, it's going to be a great experience. The experience during Flight of Passage is set up to have you "link" into an avatar who then is riding (or flying rather) on one of the banshees. The beginning part, which kind of does take a little too long if you ask me, is where you connect to the avatar using what they call facial recognition, don't worry it'll work wearing a mask... the ride itself is set up with 16 bikes in an area. You hop on, they strap you in from the back and you're told to sit up straight and push forward as much as you can to secure you in. The ride in ways is similar to "Soarin'", but with a mix of the old "Back to the Future" but without all the nausea. The screen is beautiful. The ride really makes you feel like you're twisting and turning with the banshee. There are modules that push your legs somewhat left and right so you really feel like you're turning with the animal. It's really cool. Would I wait three hours? I don't know. I'm super impatient in general, and although I really, really, loved it I'm just not a stand around and wait kind of guy, but if you're out of town and not going to be there regularly like me, a pass-holder in Florida, then you have to do it. The experience is amazing. I'm happy I got to finally ride this ride and can't wait to experience it again.

Yelp
During our trip to Disney World, we visited Animal Kingdom twice! On the second day, we finally had a chance to check out Avatar Flight of Passage. We went during the last week of July. There wasn't too long of a wait line, about 30 minutes to ride the Avatar Flight of Passage. The walk-through queue was beautiful! You really felt like you were a part of the world! The queue had social distancing markers and proper guidelines in-place. The wait-line moved relatively quickly. About 50% of the wait was outside. The ride was super fun! I felt like it was very similar to Soarin in Disney World Epcot or California Adventure. You sit on a ride, that looks like a motorcycle. It automatically adjusts and tightens, which was the only complaint from my daughter was the backseat. This ride simulates yourself as a avatar, riding a banshee through the world. It is a 4D experience with glasses that you'll need to wear. The scenes are absolutely worth the ride. It was beautiful! It felt like you were truly flying through Pandora. If you get motion sickness easily, I'd recommend avoiding the ride.

Yelp
Wow - this ride is definitely on a next level. Avatar Flight of Passage is Animal Kingdom's newest ride and it definitely feels like the flagship ride of the park. Located in the Pandora area, this ride was actually the only ride of the day that sold individual lightning lane passes. I had already heard about the notoriously long wait time for this ride, so I decided to purchase the lightning lane without any hesitation. This ride is an experience from the beginning - you walk through a pretty long queue and the ride is built inside a manmade mountain (or is it...) and you walk around this rainforest-looking area (great theming by Animal Kingdom!) and you enter a queue indoors. You're then assigned to a line and you're sent to a room where the pre-ride experience begins. I won't say much for spoilers but everything from pre-ride to the actual ride is phenomenal. The ride itself is great! You're not in a car -- you actually get into a room with an array of bike-style seats and you're exposed to a 4D screen and off you go! I was so impressed with the technology of this ride and man - Disney is truly Disney! It's a great ride to check out and well worth the extra money for the Lightning Lane. Nothing notoriously scary or thrilling but Disney really did an extraordinary job with this ride. I was more than impressed!

Yelp
So I waited maybe an hour for this ride. It was cool waiting because they had a lot of cool props where the lines wrapped around. The ride itself was way more than I could've done expected! All of your items are placed behind you in a cubby that closes and opens as the ride moved Around, it seemed like it was all a giant hydrologic system moving everything. After you board your seat a screen drops in front of you and next thing you know you are guided through avatar which has you literally feel like your really flying through! From the dips nearly missing the ocean and feeling a wet mist hit my face to, diving around cliffs and other obstacles. All and all super cool ride and will definitely go on again!

Yelp
We went to the 4 main parks and rode all the good stuff. This was definitely my favorite and probably everyone in our group of tens favorite. It's also one of the only major rides that we did twice because it was that good (Millennium Falcon was the other). Before coming to Disney, I had talked to friends who told me about how the FOP was a must ride. I was excited to try it out, but kept in my mind that there was no way a simulator ride could top some of the best roller coaster rides. I was wrong! The way this ride really floods your senses is a beautiful thing. Everything about it was unexpected and so unique at the same time. While we were lucky enough to have a DAS rider with us so waits weren't as bad, I would definitely recommend this as a must do at Disney over anything else.

Yelp
This is a review of the fragrance of Avatar Flight of Passage and where to purchase the scent for your home. I am a Disney shareholder and hope to see the stock back where it was so I am posting this for the powers that be to heed and make lots more money. The Avatar Flight of Passage scent is a goldmine but why are you not selling it? Scent brings back memories, and people want something to remind them of the parks. Why not sell the fragrance in the Disney park ride gift shop? After getting off the Flight of Passage ride, I asked the lady in the giftshop about the fragrance and she said to go to the Coop Marketplace in Disney springs. The next day, it took me 30 minutes of walking around to find the Coop Marketplace and I spent $70 on the Clover fragrance. The day after, I went back to Disney Springs Christmas Disney shop and they sell the fragrances there too, $2 off if you buy two of the same item. I made another $85 purchase. The fragrances are made by Bowes Signature Candles and the avatar ride fragrance is called Clover. Smells pretty close, I also wanted to purchase the grass scent at Soarin but the Grass scent made by Bowes smells more like dirt than grass. If Disney made and marketed their own fragrances that would be great. In the alternative, work with Bowes a bit more to make the fragrances exactly the same. Goldmine, Disney, trust me.

Yelp
I was unable to secure a FastPass for Flight of Passage and was totally put off by the consistent 120+ minute wait times that I saw anytime I checked the wait times app prior to our Disney trip. However after reading blogs and message boards and talking to friends who had experienced it, I knew I wanted to try to tough it out in the standby line. When we arrived at park opening, the lines to get through security were long and super slow moving. By the time we made it through, the wait for FOP was already at 95 minutes. The queue winds throughout the whole Pandora land, with the flow of traffic being disrupted for the massive hoarde of people trying to get on the back of a banshee. The line was very long and we ended up waiting about two hours, but it was 100% worth it for me. Since I hadn't done this ride before I was willing to wait. I wasn't sure what to expect but it is definitely like Soarin' on steroids. The feeling I got was like the feeling I had after riding Soarin' for the first time when it was brand new. The technology is basically the same but much more immersive. I am not a fan of the movie but the ride experience was breathtaking! I would recommend securing your hair if it's long as mine was blowing around and distracting. I can't wait to go again!

Yelp
The wait time for this ride is always north of 120 minutes, so I have never bothered to ride it. Thanks to hurricane Dorian, the park attendance was so low today that it was only a 25 minute wait. Others have described it as Soarin' on steroids - I think that is a very fair analogy. The que is an attraction itself - I guess it needs to be to keep guests interested during the long wait. After passing the outdoor que you cross over a bridge and go into the mountains where you find yourself in a bioluminecent cave. You'll then wind your way into an active research lab, complete with working experiments and a life-size Avatar inside a tank. After wandering through the lab you'll enter into a chamber where a video will give you a little backstory on Pandora. In this room, you'll be linked to your avatar. The next room features a video on loading instructions and you'll receive your 3-D glasses as well. The ride itself is a very visually intense flight through and over Pandora. At times it is simply beautiful and at times the rapid direction changes tends to induce vertigo. Overall I found it to be a very fun experience. They lose a star for the normally ridiculous wait times. I am glad I finally got to ride it.

Yelp
The Pandora section of Disney's Animal Kingdom is an enchanting dreamscape. Any fan of the film Avatar should appreciate it. Even during a pandemic with attendance at half capacity, the line for Flight of Passage was an hour and a half. During the long wait there was plenty of beautiful scenery to enjoy as we made our way indoors. Flight of Passage simulates the Na'vi riding a banshee throughout Pandora. It's more of an experience than a ride, and requires 3D glasses and being very tightly strapped into a stationary bike. During the experience, banshee passengers soar through the air, through mountains and forests, as well as over the water. The visuals are stunning. Sometimes the scent of the air changes, a light mist hits your face, and the wind blows through your hair! Incredible feeling, absolutely worth the wait!
