The Dominican Republic's Samaná Peninsula Offers a Quieter Alternative to Punta Cana

"After morning thunderstorms canceled our plans to hike the seven-beach trail, Luis and I opted for a drive to Aventura Rincón Ecolodge, winding past overgrown, palm-dotted fields and pastel shacks. This innovative solar-powered property and organic farm looks like a rambling garden, with five cabins inspired by Dominican campo life." - Travel + Leisure Editors

The space they have is awesome and well taken care of. A small pool, huge terrace with hammocks, sofas and a huge tv. Lots of room for kids. Very nice breakfasts (they cost $8-10 extra). Be aware that this isn't a good option for you if you are used to "mainstream" accomodations. Here you can encounter a spider or a huge snail in your cabin (it became a problem for some guests we met and they had to leave without spending a single night). No hot water too. So be prepared to experience some "eco" life. Also you will need a car to get to this place as it is a bit off the main road and not all taxis or tuktuks go there. And being there without a car doesn't make a lot of sense in general as anything you would want to do will require some driving. We had some minor issues with our cabin, it was fixed pretty quickly. The staff is very responsive and understanding. We have lost our cash (the only mean of payment they accept) and weren't able to pay the whole sum when checking out. So they just let us make the rest of the payment via transfer which also took us a couple of days. They didn't even start to stress out about it. I would give them a 5-star but I honestly feel like the price for the accomodations given their remote location is a bit overwhelming.

Hey, me and my wife were there for 3 days, and must say its the most amazing place to visit. Its very calm, the nature is amazing and the food was the best that we ate in dominican republic so far. Owner Niall was super friendly, helping us , driving us...and especially if your spanish is not so good he can help you alot with good advices and stories about D.R. in english. Next time we are back at Dominican republic we will stay longer at the Aventura Rincon Ecolodge!

Nice place. Nature around. Very friendly people working there. We reserved 2 nights, but finaly decided to stay one more. Everything is close if you travel by car. 15-20 min to Las Galeras, 10 min to beautiful Rincon Beach, 25 to Samana. Almost no mobile signal, you can disconnect ) Food is traditional and very tasty. Brekfast is included, but lunch and dinner we paid 500 pesos per person. Twis we used thier grill, and it was for free. Highly recommended!

This is a magical place! I loved everything about the eco lodge... the cute rustic cabins, the open and comfy seating areas, the vast gardens with enough coconuts for everyone to be enjoying one! Yolanda's food is the best I tried in the DR! Orki and Antu are super welcoming and helpful, available to answer any question especially if it's permaculture related! It's a family friendly place with 2 little cute kids and lots of doggies. It's down the road from Playa Rincón and easily accessible to all beaches near Las Galeras. I didn't have my own transport, but found it easy to move around with guaguas, motoconchos and my own feet. I would love to come back to this paradise and watch the birds and butterflies for hours! Thank you Aventura Rincon Eco Lodge for lots of happy memories!!
