"National Aviary of Colombia The Andean condor is Colombia's national bird, and it's one among more than 130 avian species on display at the National Aviary (Aviario Nacional de Colombia) outside Cartagena. But the condor is the least impressive of the birds here—at least in the looks department. Keep an eye out for a glimpse of some more-colorful tropical beauties, such as scarlet macaws, and the more diminutive but equally vivid and gorgeous tángara primavera (blue-winged mountain tanager) and carriquí verdiamarillo (green jay)."

One of the highlights of my trip to Cartagena! Since childhood I wanted to see the Ara and Tucano, the green parrots and the flamingos, but today I saw more than this. I would say maybe 70% or even more of the birds run freely, just some are in big cages ( exception the acvila because this bird needs the sky to fly free). The birds are in good condition, they enjoy the care, the food and the tourist attention. Happy I got to see the birds exposition, they have daily at 11: 30 am and 3:30 pm, for 20 minutes or so. I really enjoy the experience ( even as an adult). Amazing place! I definitely recommend it! ❤️ Thank you , Colombia!

It's a beautiful place! Not only because of the diversity of birds but also because the location is very well preserved and the animals look very well taken care of! It's definitely a play worth visiting!! :)

I loved everything about my experience here. You see SO MANY birds while walking through the whole place. From peacocks to tanagers, harpy eagles, ibises, owls, and flamingoes. If you love birdwatching like me, you’ll have a blast. Take your time and enjoy the whole experience :)

I visited whilst staying in Cartagena. I mostly went to see the flamingos, but I was pleasantly surprised by the rest of the park and the variety of birds. The park is very well kept and I particularly liked how close you could get to the birds. The park has a lot of walk through averies, so the birds are flying around you. You can also get close to the flamingos with no barriers, which is great for photos. The park also puts on two shows a day. I went to the afternoon show, and it was impressive how they got the various birds to fly around the stage and into the audience. Worth a visit if you fancy a break from the beach. The park also has a lot of shelter from the sun and good amenities.

Well worth the 1 hour drive from Cartagena. If you wanna see some tropical birds this is the place. My friends and I were absolutely blown away by the size of this place and the variety of birds.

Fantastic world class attraction! Amazing array of species in a lush setting. It is organised around a circular path that takes you in and out of different enclosures where you can get very close up encounters. You could do the whole thing in an hour but 2-3 would be more normal (there are plenty of shady benches to sit on and admire the birds). They put on educational ‘shows’ (Bird in Flight) at 11:30 and 15:30 daily which are worth seeing. It takes about an hour to drive there from Cartegena and we got a private car for 300k round trip plus waiting time. On a Monday morning it was not crowded and there is plenty of shade on the route which is circular and easy to follow. Entry is 80k foreigners. There are two toilet and refreshment stops in the route so you are never far from relief. Very highly recommended!

Wonderful experience, probably my highlight of whole Colombia! Just at the entrance we spotted 4(!) peacocks and there were sooo many more!! The animals seem in very good health condition, most of them are totally free. We took an Uber from Cartagena and our very friendly driver waited for us outside (there is no mobile service out there and you probably won’t get another Uber back but he told us he will drive us back for 120k which was even less than the way to the park :)) There are 2 spots where you can buy cold drinks and snacks I would totally recommend to watch a show, they‘re at 11:30 and 15:30 each day (somebody said it’s not on the first workday, so maybe you check about that because those 20mins were amazing!!). They explained (in Spanish) about the birds and they flew over the people it was amazing and you could see the bond between the people working there and the birds (I also saw them pet them and play with them naturally). We went on a Tuesday at 10am, stayed 2 hours and it was not crowded, very nice! Also as 2 blonde young European girls we didn’t feel unsafe, I think it was because of our uber driver, so I would recommend to do it like us (he waited right in front of the entrance)

Great places, a wide variety of birds plus daily shows. As a European I haven't seen most of the species anywhere else and haven't known of a lot of them. Totally worth the trip and highly recommend.
