"Wine, Ferraris, and Hot-Air Balloons The true character of the Montepulciano terroir takes center stage at this noted winery, which, since 2009, has been adhering to organic and biodynamic methods. During a visit to the facility, there are lots of ways to experience the richness of the landscape—from tasting wines made from estate-grown grapes to floating in a hot-air balloon over the vineyards. The classic tour and tasting includes a visit through the two main vineyards and the winery, including the drying rooms, aging cellar, and barrel tunnel, as well as a lesson in biodynamic viticulture. Other tours are available that include activities like a wine-paired lunch, cooking class, hot-air balloon ride, or even a drive through the countryside in a Ferrari. Whichever you choose, you'll savor glasses of beautiful reds (including Vino Nobile di Montepulciano), sweet Vin Santo, and bracing grappa."
Absolutely amazing afternoon spent at Avignonesi for my 40th birthday. Food and wines were divine and service impeccable. Couldn't have asked for a more picturesque location.

I had an amazing tour and tasting experience. The guide shared the knowledge and passion of the winery history. We also got to taste their best wine. Such an interesting and rich winery. Thank you very much✨✨

We had a lovely experience with Priscilla! We booked a tour and tasting, and she was so kind and knowledgable. I was drawn to this place for its commitment to sustainability (and I love biodynamic winemaking!). As a Biology teacher, I was even more excited to learn that Avignonese participates in research! I loved learning about the experiments in their circular vineyard, La Tonda, and their findings in vine training and plant density. The vineyards and winery are beautiful and the wines are stunning. These facilities are quite large in terms of production scale, but that doesn’t take away from their charm. The Vin Santo and In Grande Annate were our tasting highlights!

We had a great visit to this beautiful winery. I would highly recommend it for a visit. We had a private tour, got to see some of the wine making process which was very interesting. Then we had a tasting which was 4 of the wines, all were delicious and were the top of the line wines. The only reason I did not give a 5 star was the price - it was over 100 euros for the tour and tasting which was a little pricey.

Absolutely beautiful vineyard. They’ve got quite a few different vines and especially the desert wine making process is long and meticulous (and very expensive!)
Do try their balsamic as well it was one of the best tasting balsamic vinegar I’ve had.
The brunch was 100+ euro per person with wine pairing and the food was very delicious, one of the best meals I’ve had. The food was better than the wine.
There wasn’t one specific OH MY GOD bottle that stood out to me and I did not find an oaked red that I was hoping they had so in general, understanding the wine process and their history was good enough for the tour :) amazing view and beautiful vineyard, HIGHLY RECOMMEND their brunch!

A pretty decent and well planned 2 hour wine tour. I would recommend to most people as a one time visit for sure. One day we would like to go to a vineyard at the right time of season to see the actual production of grapes to wine. This place in June did not have that of course but I have to let everyone know the grounds are very nice and pretty and this is a place most will enjoy to visit

Avignonesi is the oldest winery in Montepulciano. We came here with no reservations, but the staff were kind enough to accommodate us. We ended up having the 5-course menu with wine pairing. It was absolutely fantastic! The food, the wine, the atmosphere were all top notch. Cheers to the lady from the Netherlands who gave us a very informational tour and was very kind and welcoming. The rest of the staff were nice, albeit a bit snobbish. They initially treated us with contempt not offering the lunch option in their restaurant even after we have asked. They initially offered one option for a cheese plate at the front patio overlooking the parking, which let’s face we didn’t come all the way to Tuscany to face a parking lot. After showing up pictures of the restaurant from their website, they prefaced with “oh the restaurant is only for a set grand cru menu” as if they were assuming that we won’t be able to pay for it. Aside from this cold condescending treatment at first, once seated, the rest of the experience was lovely.
