This is a miniature cute farm that is great fun for the whole family, especially for kids to explore and feed the animals. Besides feeding animals, Children can also try the pony rides. Normally we like to buy the seasonal fruits and vegetables. They are all grown from local farms. I like the gift selections. There are gifts here that you can not get easily at other places. So they have special gifts. They sell some homemade pastries as well. My father-in-law likes the Zucchini bread the best. It has a corner that sells ice cream and drinks. Some light meals are also available while you rest. We tried the Olallieberry pie ice cream which was delicious.

We had a great time at the Barn this week! My kids love feeding lettuce to the animals and seeing the chickens. This time, we took the tractor ride for a tour of the farm and then picked our own berries to take home! Ice cream is also a must-get whenever we visit. They had a musician playing music that was very enjoyable for me to listen to while my kids fed the animals.

This place was a fun stop for us in the morning on our way to do more things. There are a lot of farm animals outside, and you can feed them with lettuce you buy at the store. We enjoyed walking around and looking at the animals and feeding them. There is a lot of fresh produce to purchase as well as a lot of nice gift options. We got some souvenirs here and we enjoyed our stop.

Great place to take children. Lots of animals for them to pet and feed. Lots of produce and homemade goods for everyone. And you can cut your own flowers.

During our family vacation in San Luis Obispo, Avila Valley Barn was an incredibly appealing stop, especially for our 6-year-old! The animal feeding experience is a highlight, costing just $3 USD for a head of lettuce. Compared to prices in Los Angeles, this felt like a fantastic deal – the lettuce was even cheaper and fresher than what we'd buy for ourselves at an LA supermarket! They have a wonderful variety of animals including sheep, chickens, cows, donkeys, and alpacas, all eager for a snack. Another fantastic activity is the tractor ride, priced at $5 per person (adults and children alike). This 20-minute ride is led by a friendly old man who drives the tractor and shares interesting information about the plants grown on the farm. The farm store is a delight, offering a tempting selection of candies, ice cream, and various fresh fruits. There's also a small restaurant on site. Avila Valley Barn is a wonderful attraction for experiencing a taste of farm life. We recommend setting aside 45 minutes to 1.5 hours for your visit. You can enjoy a meal at the restaurant or bring your own food for a picnic. It's a truly charming and memorable stop for families!

Google
The Barn is a magical place to visit, especially for people who love to see the animals. There is a good variety of them and you can hand feed them if you want to. A head of romaine lettuce is available to purchase foor $3 and can be fed to all of the varieties of animals. There is a fun farm store that sells a small amount of fresh produce in addition to fresh made candies and bakery sweets. The store also has a wide variety of unique merchandise for house and home plus, and this is a big one, you have to buy a goat farm t shirt available in the ice cream parlor in a wide variety of sizes and colors. Go early for less crowds and easier parking.

This is a wonderful spot for kids to have fun feeding and petting the animals! The market is filled with fresh produce and delicious baked treats. My granddaughters had a blast today, especially when they were feeding the animals. It's a great family day out!

Google
Definitely recommend this farm location. They have it all for everyone. Petting zoo, AMAZING pies and sweet corn, BBQ and great food. Hay rides, produce, gift shop and even pony rides and live music. The staff is super friendly and courteous. Had a great time and looking forward to going back.

Yelp
Such a cute place they have plenty of parking. You can feed the goats, llamas bowls and other animals. They have heads of Romain lettuce that you could buy to feed them. I believe it's three dollars each. There's a five dollar hayride that takes you around the farm kids, I believe under two or three are free. You could shop inside where the farmers market is there's different knickknacks treats bakeries ice cream and you could also buy roasted corn, which is probably my best part.
google avatar

Yelp
Grateful for this place as we have young children. While visiting Pismo Beach, informed by Rangers at the State Beach. Easy off the highway, restroom break, kids walk and feed the animals.
google avatar

Cassy S.

Yelp
We have been coming here all my life. It's a great place to take your family. Feeding the many animals, the pumpkin patch, and the yummy pies keep us coming back. They also have many hot food items and ice cream on-site. Our daughter loves coming here. If you haven't been here before, you need to stop by and check it out yourself.

Yelp
Second time here and we still love it! A 3rd generation farm with animals, farmers market, fresh baked items, gift items, horse rides for kids and hay ride for everyone. Today we enjoyed farm to table corn. Yum!!!
google avatar

Chiquita G.

Yelp
Every time my family goes to pismo we always stop at Avila. It's really close and the kids love this place. We always buy some lettuce which is 3 bucks and you get to feed the animals. There is also an ice cream shop and they sell food. They havre plenty of seating everywhere so you can enjoy the Mountain View with your food. During Apple season you can pick apples and sometimes they have a maze during fall. They have a main shop that sells fresh baked goods, honey, strawberries, oranges, beer, wine and trinkets. A great place to visit with kids or anyone who loves animals.
google avatar

Yelp
What a dope spot in SLO. They have great food, barnyard animals, and some delicious pies that are totally worth taking home. They sell lettuce heads to feed the animals and totally worth it. The animals are super cute and friendly. We ended up eating at the barbeque place and the food was pretty solid. We took pastries and pies to eat at home. They were so delicious and fresh. If you're in SLO this is a must stop for great food and some entertainment. Parking - Wasn't too bad but it rained recently making the lot super muddy. It's a dirt lot so it can be bad if it rains so wear the correct shoes and expect them to potentially get dirty.

Yelp
We love Avila Beach and this is the best spot to grab something before you get there. The honey is the best, chocolate coated nuts is delicious and the pies are omething to take home for the future taste testing Friendly service and a great spot for stretching your legs while on a road trip, and did I mention the animals.
google avatar

Helen A.

Yelp
My favorite spot in SLO! This barn has so much to do. You can buy lettuce ($3) to feed the adorable farm animals, and depending on the season, you might even be able to pick your own fruit. I'm not sure if they still do fruit picking, but it's worth checking out. I recently tried their chicken sandwich, and it was delicious. They also have a roasted corn stand, which used to be cash-only, but now you can pay at the store counter and get a ticket for the corn. If you're in the area, this place is a must, and I highly recommend it!

Yelp
The Avila Valley Barn is a Central Coast Staple! Located off the 101, near Avila Village. Tons of parking, but it is dirt. The Avila Valley Barn has everything, feeding livestock, pony rides, ice cream/candy shop, BBQ restaurant, grocery store of products made from the land and local, apple orchards, pumpkin patch and hayrides, especially before Halloween. They always deliver friendly customer service. Our daughter loves going to feed the animals and go throw their orchards, flowers, and fruit bushes. I've been going for over 20years and love the homemade pies! *This place is pure family fun and one of those central coast traditions that still happen*
google avatar

Sally K.

Yelp
A wonderful setting for a rest stop or fun family activity. The Avila Valley Barn offers walks within their orchards, special events, guided hayride tours during Fall, and seasonal fruit picking on selected days. Patrons can purchase lettuce for $3 to feed the barn animals. The property is well maintained and the staff is friendly. Food options include barbecue, corn, ice cream, and the farm-stand for fresh produce or artisanal gifts. I would love to return!
google avatar

Yelp
Had the best time at Avila Valley Barn with my boyfriend and our pup. We came the week of Thanksgiving to pick up our Dutch apple pie that we pre-ordered online. The pie was was loaded with apples and the crust was nice and crumbly. So good! I was pleasantly surprised about how much there was to do at the barn. We had a blast feeding lettuce to the adorable farm animals (shoutout to my girl, Georgia the cow). We also enjoyed an apple cider float and browsed through some of their other offerings in their store. The parking lot was quite muddy since it had rained recently, so bring waterproof shoes/boots if you're visiting during a rainy week.

Yelp
This is our second time returning to Avila Valley Barn and we were very happy to see Ralph on the rooftop again he is so silly. All of the animals are so sweet and we loved feeding them lettuce. Inside the barn they have lots of fresh produce and baked goods to buy. We took home an apple cobbler and it was very delicious. The strawberries we purchased were also very sweet.
google avatar

Yelp
This was one of our favorite stops on the drive north between Solvang and Cambria. We expected a cute little farm stand, and little it was not. But it was most certainly cuter than expected with animals on the property. We bought a few baked goods including a blueberry peach crumble pie which was quite possibly one of the best pies I ever tasted: sweet but not too sweet, with the perfect ratio of filling to crust/crumble. Glad we made this stop.

Yelp
We always like to stop by the farm and feed the animals. The shop is always fun to look through and they have some nice items. This most recently visit, we see decided to have lunch there. WOW, was I blown away by the food. It was much better than I was expecting and was fairly affordable too. We'll definitely think about having lunch here more often.

Yelp
So many cute animals!!!! Roasted corn was delish as Simple as it was & had the chili was just right. Loved all the haystacks all over the place as it reminded me fall is near.

Yelp
Great Place to take the kids and pick up farm fresh produce! Avila Valley Barn is right off hwy 101 just north of Pismo Beach. If you're road-tripping with the family and are looking for a fun food stop- look no further. There's no admission or parking fees- you just pay $3 for a beautiful head of romaine lettuce to feed the variety of adorable goats and cows. It's a great value all around. The food menu represents the best of the Santa Maria BBQ/Central Coast Fare. You can choose from Nashville Hot Chicken, Pulled Pork and Tri Tip sandwiches served with house made dill pickles and a flavorful slaw. We tried all the above and split them. The slaw on the sandwich created the perfect bite and all three meats were tender and delicious. The Produce market had a great selection and was reasonably priced. There was an assortment of honeys, jams, baked goods and sections of the store dedicated to displaying tasteful gifting items. All the staff were friendly and welcoming. It's worth the stop and there is something for everyone.

Yelp
We arrived just before noon on a Saturday this summer, and there were already a horde of families with small kids. There must have been hundreds of people. I had no idea that this place was this popular. Arrive early to avoid the crowd. We were there for the food, but the farm animals and the quaint gift shop provided an interesting diversion. We bought their ripe strawberries, and they were a hit at our camp site. Each one was juicy and sweet. Fortunately, there wasn't a line at the restaurant. We ordered our food and they were ready fairly quickly. The Louisiana fried chicken sandwich was large and tasty. The flavor was full and fragrant, and the crispy edges made it even more satisfying. There were chickens behind allegedly electrified fence, but we never confirmed whether the fence was actually electrified. A prominently displayed battery was hooked up to the fence, so no one dared to test it.

Yelp
I HIGHLY recommend a visit to this cute, special, memorable spot that offers fun for everyone!! There are sweet & savory foods available to eat from the Chicken Shack & Smokehouse, the Sweetshop, & Bakery. Different activities happen throughout the year, but while we were there, they included hayrides & apparently pony rides on the weekend. The highlight for us was seeing lots of adorable animals up close--goats, donkeys, cows, emu, alpacas, & chickens both in a coop & out in a field!! For $3, you can purchase a head of romaine to feed the animals, which was such a fun & neat activity! The lady selling them in front of the store was friendly. The store offers an EXTENSIVE amount of items to enjoyably browse & purchase--lots of produce, bakery items, home goods & decor galore, pickled foods, SO MANY kinds of pantry items, dried fruits & nuts, coffee & tea items, a whole children's section, books, souvenirs, cookware, dishes, AND MORE! There is lots of parking available in a big gravel lot.

Yelp
This is a wonderful little spot tucked into the greenery in a very quiet part of Avila Valley! It's extremely family friendly with a petting zoo and lots of other animals to see and feed. The market is super cute but very, very pricey. But the baked goods are worth every single penny! We were in heaven eating the Apple Crumble!
google avatar

Isabella J.

Yelp
I visited Avila Valley Barn for the first time in March - it was such a beautiful place! I had the best time and will definitely be back again!
google avatar

Jay T.

Yelp
Great spot to stop and just look around, goats, and other animals for the kids to check out, great variety of produce, and other country goods. Must check out the corn shack, the suites barn, and the smokehouse chicken shack. And don't forget their baked goods they are exceptional! It's a wonderful atmosphere to just relax for a bit and all the employees are friendly and helpful.

Holly And Rick B.

Yelp
So cute! Purchase a giant head of lettuce to feed the animals (goats, llamas, donkeys, sheep, and more), go on a pony ride (best for little kids) or a tractor ride, pick your own flowers, grab lunch or ice cream, and visit the huge and adorably merchandised gift shop. A fun family afternoon!
google avatar

Jacey H.

Yelp
I am so so so thankful to whatever article recommended this farm to me. It was such a sweet and fun stop. All of their animals are so well taken care of and there's just so much stuff to offer. I absolutely loved it, it's great for friends, family, or a romantic date.
google avatar

Brandon L.

Yelp
This place blew our expectations out of the water. Brought our kids and they had a blast. We fed the goats and picked some berries. We ordered the chicken sandwich and the tri-tip sandwich. Hands down the best chicken sandwich I've ever had. We will be back!
google avatar

Joanna C.

Yelp
A little on the pricey side. The corn and BBq are over priced, but delicious. There is entertainment for the kids with the goats and other animals and plenty of photo opportunities. They sometimes have live music. The hay ride is not worth it either. You can't hear the driver unless you sit right under his little speaker and you inhale dust for the entire ride. We've gone several times over the years, and the worst is summer time. It's hot, no shade.
google avatar

Lisa S.

Yelp
The lunch/BBQ shack is the bomb! Even the pickles are better than best. Every time we are in the area we feed the animals and then feed ourselves. Check it out!
google avatar

Dominic D.

Yelp
Best chicken sandwich around. We love the outdoor seating and letting the kids run in the field. Not a long wait for food at all. The environment is great for kids with food to come back for.

Catherine G.

Yelp
What a fun place to visit in SLO! We were looking for lunch and found this place come up on Yelp as a nearby option. It's a combination farm, farmer's market, and food server. We got really wonderful roasted artichokes for lunch, and sampled some local hard cider too. Casual picnic table eating. Then before or after walk into the ample vegetable/fruit stand, or peruse the local toys in another shop. And then of course you have to walk around and see the farm animals - who would really love a bit of lettuce if you want to share.
google avatar

Katie P.

Yelp
What a cute find for early fall! We visited this place today looking for some ice cream, but we left with so much more of an experience. Every single person who works here is so friendly and kind - they went out of their ways to make us feel" special. The food was great, the little farmers market had awesome finds, and feeding the animals was a huge hit with the kids (and the adults too). We are so happy we stumbled upon this wonderful spot today!
google avatar

Ashley M.

Yelp
I absolutely LOVE this place. It's tucked away in a quiet area and feels so peaceful. I can't wait to come back again. I loved picking apples with my family and the pumpkin empanada I got from the shop was delicious. It's a wonderful place for family to come together
google avatar

Michael L.

Yelp
LOVE visiting the barn when we are visiting the central coast. This place has really grown over the years and now is really a "experience". Starting as a fruit, nut and goodie stand with farm animals; it has evolved into so much more. Now there are feeding of multiple animals, pony rides, tractor rides, hot food and roasted corn stand. All of this listening to live music and enjoying the ambience. Because of what it is, it is definitely much busier on the weekends. Nonetheless I have always found parking and a nice time.
google avatar

Sara B.

Yelp
2nd time visiting and this time during the Christmas season. It was great to see Abby the cow and Rooftop Ralph still. Abby was a bit shy this trip so no photos of her and I forgot to snap one of Ralph. But I got one of Georgia (the long haired cow). I love browsing in the little market shop and the. Christmas photo-op set-up was cute. It was definitely less crowded on a Sunday late afternoon than my last visit. Still a fun thing to do when passing through the PCH.
google avatar

Delilah M.

Yelp
The food and service is really great!! There are activities to do like feeding the cattle ;riding the hay ride down to the berry fields ;where you get to pick your own and buy it but also just to hang out and relax. Awesome place to take the family or to go by yourself or with your partner.I would definitely recommend to try the tri tip sandwiches and take a pie home.i will definitely be coming back soon.
google avatar

Jasmine G.

Yelp
Cute little place to stop off at if you're in the area. Great for kids and adults alike! They have animals that you can feed a whole head of romaine lettuce to for $3. The barn offers a wide varieties of produce, baked goodies and trinkets. I highly recommend their peach cobbler and carrot cake loaf or muffin....my goodness!!! They also serve bbq, roasted corn & ice cream. Great experience & I would totally recommend.
google avatar

Tajinder S.

Yelp
Loved visiting Avila valley barn with the family and my little one. He enjoyed feeding goats and other animals. We didn't try pony ride but I imagine if he would enjoy it if he was a little older. We went on the tractor ride it was fun. Ice cream was super yummy more like homemade, super creamy. Tried their fresh apple cider, it was so good. You gotta try it. Would love to go again during fall and pumpkin season.
google avatar

Breanna K.

Yelp
We love Avila Valley Barn! They have a lot to do and see. They have a variety of farm animals (goats, chickens, cows, donkeys, alpacas and horses) that you can feed lettuce to($3/head of lettuce). My kids loved that. There are pony rides I believe for $10. We did the hay ride($5/person, 2 years and under free) that takes you on a tour to see the farmland. The tour guide had lots of great information and made it very enjoyable. There's a market with all sorts of fruits, nuts and baked goods as well as a "sweet shop" with ice cream and candies. I bought some zucchini bread and it really was delicious. The Chicken Shack is their meal option and it really didn't disappoint. We ordered the fried chicken sandwich, kids hot dog and pulled pork sandwich. The sandwiches were delicious and a great sized portion. They also sell hard ciders, beer and wine. There was also a corn station where you buy a corn in the cob and they have various toppings(we did not get any as the line was very long). Their activities seem to change as the seasons change which makes it easy to come back and always get to try something new. A few things our hay ride tour guide mentioned was U pick flowers, olallieberry season and pumpkin season. We visited the barn around lunch time and then headed out to Avila beach for the rest of the day. We have young kids and this made for the perfect day!
google avatar

Phoebe T.

Yelp
Fun place to stop at before going to the beach. Good to grab little snacks & fruit at the store they have. I really like their muffins - carrot muffin, banana muffin, zucchini muffin... Delish! The kids had a great time feeding the animals (goats, cows, llamas) I spent a good $16 just buying lettuce just so they can feed them lol. Tractor ride was a tractor ride. The guy working at the ice cream shop was super friendly. The corn staff were decent, I heard them yelling at a few people not to leave their corn on the table. - their corn is tasty by the way, I like how they have all the toppings you'd want on a corn out for you to do so. Overall I will definitely come back!
google avatar

Jeremy L.

Yelp
Love this place! We seem to stop by here whenever we're in the area. We normally stay in Avila Beach and this is just off the freeway heading in. First, GOATS! Yep thats right. When you first walk in, you'll be greeted by Rooftop Ralph and his friends. Kids love these guys. They're very active and hungry! Go inside the barn and grab a bush of lettuce to feed to them. I think its like $3 and a great experience for the kids. Not only do they have goats but follow the roosters running around and they'll lead you to the chicken coop and other farm animals. Truly is a fun place for kids and great for pictures! Speaking of pictures, they always have a setup depending on the season for photos. Great backdrop and I think we've even used one for our christmas photo. Depending on the season they'll sell pumpkins or christmas trees and offer hay rides and fun activities. On our past visit they had a chicken shack which offered some pretty tasty bites. Their barn also sells some really good pies and fun souvenirs. Overall this is an awesome stop whether you're staying in the area or just passing by. Highly recommend if you have kids or just love country things.

Yelp
Another drive on the 101, another stop at Avila Valley Barn. It's honestly one of the main reasons that I look forward to a road trip up to the Bay Area; knowing that a quick visit to AVB is part of the package. It's a great place to stop to grab a snack, breathe some country fresh air, view the seasonal sights, stretch one's legs, and even do a little power shopping! On our last visit, fall harvest time was definitely all the rage. A large mound of pumpkins helped delineate the space where the hay wagon out to the pumpkin patch lines up. Fall blooms and allied décor brighten up the indoor and outdoor spaces. Baked goods also carry fall flavors, even pumpkin spice-flavored Rice Krispies Treats. Yum! In one of the indoor areas I saw the first vignette featuring Christmas-themed gifts. It will be that time before long, and you have to start somewhere. Since they do a fantastic job of merchandising, it will be fun to see what they bring in for the winter / Christmas / New Year's decorations and fun stuff to buy. Dear Hubby became fascinated with small pumpkins in very unusual spiked shapes. These were real; not crafted by machine. He bought a bag full to use for decorating a harvest space. Really cool, and very fairly priced for their seasonal flair. We arrived too late for the roasted corn this time, but we'll try to hit AVB at an earlier hour the next time. If you haven't stopped in at Avila Valley Barn, especially if you have younger kids (lots of farm animals to see/feed!), I highly recommend that you put this on your must-visit list when on the Central Coast.

Yelp
Had to come back and secure the goods. The best honey and bee pollen there is! Check out the pictures and prices.
google avatar

Vicky R.

Yelp
This was such a wholesome experience. They have a lot of fun barn animals that you can feed, fresh vegetables, and delicious food and drinks. My favorite animal was rooftop Ralph, a goat that enjoys standing on the rooftop of his barn. We got one of their hard ciders which was also delicious. Highly recommend stopping by
google avatar

Doug M.

Yelp
Love this place, we stop here every year while staying at Sycamore mineral Springs. Fresh veggies, tons of interesting although pricey things in the gift shop great artichokes served hot, ice cream, candy, and lots of goats and other animals to feed.
google avatar

Sarah C.

Yelp
Change of plans as it was too cold to hit up the beach or pool. We heard about this place during breakfast. Free entry with large dirt road parking lot. The kiddos had a blast - you can feet the goats/animals. $3 for a bunch of lettuce. They sell a bunch of snacks and food there as well. Plenty of restrooms. Rides. Pumpkins. It was a good time and wasn't overly crowded.
google avatar

Evan R.

Yelp
Hate doing two stars but we rushed here from atascadero after work since hayrides end at 5pm. Well they let us know when we got there at 410 that they stopped selling them for the day. Nice enough employees but my son and gf and myself were pissed/disappointed. I looked again on their website and can't find anything that says they stop selling early. If it's on there, might want to make it easier to find. Everything else is great! Came here last year and was able to get everything done that we wanted to. Food, pie, petting zoo, maze and hay ride.
google avatar

Deanne H.

Yelp
Cute stop or day trip adventure! A few goats and chickens to check out. Cutest farmers market style shop with lots of local stuff. Ice cream shop and restaurant shop too. Highly recommend! I would however not as much recommend it in the rain. It is more of a sunny spot destinations. All employees were very helpful.

June Y.

Yelp
Great for kids who like to feed animals and who would like to ride a Pony! Great for adults who want good BBQ, Ice Cream and to bring back fruits and deserts!
google avatar

Melissa G.

Yelp
Such an adorable place! I was in the area looking for something to do/see and found Avila Barn on my trusty Yelp app! My partner and I went immediately, appreciated the free parking and entry - and enjoyed all the cute animals! Packed with families, the goats, chickens, cow and ostrich knew their food- $3 lettuce heads were coming! Such a cute, sweet experience! Depending on the season, there is a U-pick option, and options to eat at the food counter (small menu); an option to shop a small gift shop that also serves ice cream; or shop at the marketplace which has everything one would need for their kitchen! We actually came back the next day to grab some baked goods, gifts and produce at the market to take home including a peach-raspberry pie, zucchini bread, lettuce, and some olive oils for gifts. I'd definitely come back if I'm around, even just to shop. The displays and organization are nicely laid out. Definitely fun for the whole family!

Yelp
This place is amazing and beautiful.! My kids enjoyed it. The corn, the bread & the goat feeding. Everyone is very friendly. I planned this 4 hour trip and it was well worth it. I would return and recommend.

Yelp
fun for kids, feeding the goats, cows, alpaca, getting the apple cobbler pie and roasted corn. strawberries were a little tart. quick stop on the way to the beach
