Today, I arrived at the rental location after a long day of work and 3 minutes before the reservation deadline on my confirmation email. Despite this, the agent (who wouldn’t provide her business card or last name) rudely informed me that she “does not rent vehicles with less than 15 minutes to close” (no communication about this via email or otherwise) and said she could book me for tomorrow. It’s never taken me more than a couple of minutes to get a car once I’ve reached an agent, especially being preferred. I informed her that “I needed the car today”, the day I booked it for and showed up on time for. I have been a dedicated Avis Preferred member for over a decade, I’ve spent almost $4,000 in rentals in the past 6 weeks alone and all I wanted was a vehicle I reserved and showed up on time to get. Reservation cancelled and business lost. Just a suggestion, but it might be worth looking into providing a better customer experience at this branch or providing communication to customers about unwritten rules.
