We enjoyed our stay at Avista. The room was a great size for our family of 5. I love having a washer and dryer in the room so I can do laundry at any time without having to leave my room or wait for an available unit. The staff is very friendly and helpful. We had 1 issue that needed to be fixed. I was able to text via a link that was sent upon check in a request for assistance and it was promptly received, responded to and fixed. The bell staff was also very helpful. Bryan particularly made our day. My oldest daughter and I were going out shopping and he offered to take us to the parking deck. He not only took us across the street to the parking deck but all the way to my vehicle on the 5th level. Bryan also helped load our luggage at checked out. We will definitely be staying there again.

This place is really incredible! We spent 5 amazing days at Avista for a family vacation in July. Some highlights: **Location - North Myrtle Beach has a laid back family vibe. This resort is right on the beach and within walking distance to multiple restaurants and shops. **Rooms/Condos- Our condo really exceeded our expectations. We stayed in an ocean view 1 bedroom corner room. Loved the 2 balconies and the amazing views. For the price, we expected it to be dated or a bit run down and it was not at all! It was immaculate, furnishings were in great condition and comfortable. My son LOVED the Murphy Bed. Kitchen was small, but had everything we needed to throw together quick meals. Pleasantly surprised to find washer/dryer! **Service- every staff member we encountered was FANTASTIC. This resort felt like it had Disney or Ritz Carlton level customer service. I LOVED that we could text the front desk with any questions or requests. Laura, Melanie, and Coach all went over and above to make our stay incredible! We will definitely be back!

We have stayed here for the past 5 years. We love it here, and have visited other places, but haven't enjoyed ourselves as much. This place has everything we want, with quick access to local businesses. We always get oceanfront rooms, and it is perfect each time. Service is very good also. We have never experienced any issues.

This is a nice and convenient resort to stay at. Beach access is wonderful. We took advantage of mostly all the amenities. The pool was decent size but that hot tub on the inside is a dream come true with its 102 temperature and size. The rooms were mini apartments in my opinion and enough space for 10 people. The views were great from floor 10. They offer kitchen items and all you need to bring is food to cook and snacks if you don’t want to eat out. This was a great stay💯

Google
Personally, not being much of a resort type person, this one is very decent overall if you need a getaway with the family. The pool and beach fill up quickly, so be prepared to get there early for a comfortable spot. Food at the on-site restaurant is decent and not too expensive. The food & drinks at the pool are decent but pretty pricey. The location is great for beach and town access. The staff replaced our towels daily, which was a plus. Guest services were extremely friendly and helpful. Beach views from the rooms are very nice. Even though it's highly kid friendly, our room was comfortable and quiet when we needed to rest.

Google
I love they have 3 elevators to use. Makes getting to the pool or lobby very convenient when on higher floors. They are fairly fast as well. The rooms were great and had plenty of space to move around in. I loved our balcony, and the views from all the windows were great! The only complaint is the loading parking is very tight so parking is a pain if you have a larger vehicle or one that turns wide. Same with the parking garage. Other than that I enjoyed my stay. I have already recommended this place to others as a place to stay!

Google
Our room was very clean. Cleanliness is very important to me so I was very happy during our stay to know we were in a clean room. We had 2 housekeepers that week who were friendly and respectful. As a busy mom of 3, having clean towels and the trash taken out daily as well as 2 full cleans for a 6 night stay was the best part. Other pros: location, the hula fire show was fantastic, friendly and helpful staff, and the delicious virgin drinks you can get in 2 locations around the pool. Core memories made with my kids at the Avista! I know the reviews comment on the parking situation but do not let it make you change your mind. We drive a van and had no issues with parking and bell staff drive you back in a golf cart. Staff help you with unloading and loading and you park right there at the hotel while doing that. It’s really not a bad parking situation.

Google
This was our third time staying here, and it definitely won’t be our last! The view is absolutely beautiful, and the location can’t be beat. We love that we can walk to several great restaurants — including our favorite nightly ice cream stop — and there are even more options just a short drive away. Whether it’s sunny or raining, there’s always something to do in the area. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, making us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. Highly recommend!

Yelp
We had a wonderful stay here to celebrate my son's 16th birthday! Very thankful for the military discount and how easy it was to book over the phone. Review their refund/cancellation policy in case you possibly may need to change plans. Our room was clean, the AC was able to keep up with the heat, staff were always maintaining the pool area. Plenty of seating around the pool. We never had an issue. Close to all the places we hoped to visit. Parking garage is across the street. We brought a wagon to help with unloading/loading. They do have a lot for "over sized" vehicles that is not covered and locked with a chain. We were very pleased and would return. We booked directly through the resort to be able to access the military discount.

Yelp
A VERY DISAPPOINTING ENCOUNTER We did our home work first by calling and explaining our plans to launch , park ,and camp on the state park islands. No problem at first. The staff was helpful. The next day, however, the OWNER OR MANAGER (Greg) was a totally different story. We were told at check in that we could use the facilities after spending over $400 for boat permit, launching , parking fees for 5 days. NO PROBLEM on the cost , we realize things are expensive. But when we came back to either use the facilities or drop people off to pick up their vehicles we were met with a totally different welcome . The OWNER/MANAGER Greg threatened us with verbal abuse. Using words " You Campers abusing this marina". Threatening to have our vehicles towed and or saying good luck getting our vehicles out for they will be blocked in. Stating you're going to be banned from Lake George and he was going to call the police- all over taking a shower. Just what you what hear when you going on vacation and paid for their services . ( we even tried to de-esculate the situation by apologizing. There must have been a miscommunication) But he would hear none of it ! And To make matters worse the OWNER/ MANAGER called one of us out with a verbal conversation AND stated he wanted a physical confrontation. At a time when tourism is down, and all of us live locally, its embarrassing that the is how people are being treated. Unreal.

Yelp
The condo was beautiful and resort amenities expansive. It's great they have a covered parking structure which not all have. The condo was super clean with lots of towels, supplies, a full kitchen and laundry. We stayed in a 3B/3B ocean front condo for two weeks snd enjoyed the gym, pools, and quick access to the beach. There is one big oceanfront and one smaller balcony. We enjoyed sitting outside and listening to the waves every morning with coffee and evening with snacks and beverages. Staff were attentive, friendly, and helpful. Restaurants snd bars were in walking distance as well as a couple shops, ice cream parlors, and cafes. We recommend and will definitely come back.

Yelp
This trip was planned to celebrate my daughter's 16th birthday. we checked in Sunday June, 1st. staff was pleasant. Got to our room and upon unpacking noticed the carpet was really wet. Our room was right at 4:00 pm being ready so I thought, ok they probably just cleaned carpets and should dry soon. We put towels down on the carpet to be able to walk on it since my socks were already soaked from walking on it, which again socks will dry. Put towels down on the carpet and the kitchen floor as well so as not to walk on soaked towels then onto slick floor and chance falling. Really nice manager I think she was offered to move us to a room but it was on 14th floor (My daughter has an extreme fear of heights which is why we requested no higher than mid level) and 6th floor was fine. We were in and out most of Monday and changed towels several times which all were soaked each time. It got a lot worse overnight Monday and Tuesday Engineering showed up to check it. Said the room above us was now vacant due to water issues and below us was having water issues too. Asked to come in while we were out and cut a hole in the tub area to find the leak to Fix that it shouldn't take too long but needed to find it and fix. Didn't want to chance anyone getting sick due to possible mold or mildew. We left and came back few hours later to be told they didn't know when it could be fixed. Wanted us to pack up and move to a higher floor but my daughter was very worried due to her fear of heights and not to mention this was her 16th Birthday! We told the front desk, after we packed up our own things that we can't do that and we decided best to go home Since thmere were only higher room available and to have to do all this on her birthday was very upsetting. To say the least, Im very disappointed. Staff was great but so far they said they will refund half off one night? For all this. And we didn't even stay the last night at all due to only higher floor room available. I really expected more! Frances Kizziah Fkizziah@gmail.com Room 0630

Yelp
Brian was great he helped me navigate my way at check in. And at check out. Our stay was fine. We had one issue with the tv but the maintenance guy came up and fixed it. The room was nice, we spent a few days at the pool and sometime on the beach. I think the only complaint is vacay never last long enough .

Yelp
Flats are super small Balconies are not ocean front, your view is the other tower They nickel and dime you for everything, nothing is included Slept on better mattresses in the military Super strict rules Constant noisy shenanigans trying to be a sandals resort Rooms have odd water damage from the vents, paint that looks like they hired an 8 year old to slather around the place, rusted light fixtures, broken doors that don't latch, cracked drywall or whatever their walls are, shiddy repairs done to tiles and walls.. omg I can't even list the stuff there is so much wrong with these rooms that we called maintenance for that we eventually quit calling because we reached the level of "just f*ck it, this place sucks" Outdated TVs with the weirdest channel selection process, it's 20-f*cking-24, get with the program, at $2500 for 5 nights, get f*cking smart TVs, they're $150 at Walmart for the cheapest ones. But I'm sooooo glad you have top notch Hamilton Beach coffee makers (heavy eye roll) I'd be better off making coffee outta my a$$ if I had a tv from this century in my room that I paid a lot of money for... Bs "bellboys" that don't actually do anything, expect a tip for pushing a cart to your room that I'm perfectly capable of, but greet you with the intention that while you check in - your bags will be in your room waiting for you as you're checking in, but the reality is, some dude stands there awkwardly as you load your own luggage onto a cart and you unload your own in your room and expects cash to push the cart back down the hallway to ditch the cart by the elevators... I could have done all of that without come creep walking around my shiddy room.... Pool is CLOSED closed at 10pm; understand no swimming for noise reasons but paying $2500 for a 5 day vacation and I'm not allowed to go down and sit in a chair if I want to get out of the room for a little bit? Zero security: anyone can walk into the doors through the ground level or lobby without a key card, get on the elevators and go to any floor on the premises... BUT they are so steadfast on needing a keycard and wrist band to enter the pool area but f*ck the rest of the building... I'm glad I brought my firearm on vacation. This place is literally the worst "resort" I've ever stayed at in my life. The clientele here are obviously people that have never stayed at an actual resort before so they don't know any better but this place is absolute trash in every sense of the word. Fuck this place, I will NEVER spend another cent booking with them. Concierge is some crackhead behind the counter that basically chases you down even after you say NO THANK YOU to the services because it's Myrtle fuckin beach... figure it out, the area is pretty self explanatory. The parking garage is a fucking nightmare, hope you like circling around 1000 times for a spot that your car won't fit into.. good luck finding your car because the levels don't correlate to the signs and the garbage elevators don't work. Trash. Trash is the only word I can use to describe this place. And trash is the only word I can use to describe the people that think highly of this place, I'm not an asshole but call me what you will if you're who I just described because if you think this place is nice or even decent, I've got some news for ya... I CANNOT STRESS THE SECURITY ISSUE ENOUGH THAT LITERALLY ANYYYONNNEEE CAN WALK INTO YOUR BUILDING AND TAP ON YOUR DOOR BECAUSE YOU DONT HAVE TO PROVE YOU STAY HERE TO JUMP INSIDE AND HOP ON THE ELEVATORS!!! Capital F, FUCK this place. A 5 night stay at The Ashworth 2 doors down is $1700 instead of $2500 and you don't have to deal with any of this shit... I hope a hurricane comes through and puts this place to rubble where it deserves to be.

Yelp
Mom decided to celebrate her birthday in SC and rented a condo here. While I appreciate that the apartment could accommodate 8 adults comfortably, the place is worn out and in dire need of a renovation. Everything is dated with the exception of the living spaces. Lumpy beds, just a general feel of a struggling resort. The plumbing was a huge issue as if you turned up the hot water too much, it sounded like a freight train. The only benefit is the proximity to the beach. I merely stayed here for the sake of my family but I should have dealt with the guilt and comfort of staying elsewhere.

Yelp
Update: Finally spoke to a VERY nice employee, Phil, who fixed this for us. No thanks to anyone else who we spoke to. So thank you, Phil, for being the only employee who actually does their job. You deserve a raise! Will post a final update once we actually stay at the resort and hopefully our stay will bypass our terrible booking process so that I can give them a better review. Original Review: Have been trying to reschedule our vacation with this resort for several days now but they keep telling us that we booked through a third party website, which we did NOT! We booked directly through their website and even have the email and confirmation number to prove it. We have been waiting for a supervisor to reach out to us for several days and have heard nothing from them. We even asked if we could just cancel our reservation since this is absolutely ridiculous and HORRIBLE customer service and we aren't allowed to cancel either since "we didn't book from their website". I am disgusted by this resort and the way they treat their customers.

Yelp
They've got what ever you want for this holiday. Wonderful meal buffet style and great service. Soothing music to dine by. A great way to spend a quiet Thanksgiving meal..and no cleanup to do! There was alot of food to tempt the taste buds my selections were great. I had mixed salad, rolls, sweet potato casserole w marshmallows, ham, turkey breast au jus, roast beef carving station on plate 1 on plate 2 my second helpings were more sweet potatoes and beef. So good. Then the desserts. .all chocolate cakes, tortes and more. If you are in The Myrtle Beach area for Thxgiving holiday consider buying tickets to their early dinner. Its a very pleasant experience taking place at the Avista hotel and resort.

Yelp
The pool prides itself on drinks and food poolside. The menu is limited and just kids food. Their restaurant has the same limited menu as the 4th floor bar. The restaurant doesnt have liquor which we thought was weird. Plus no food served from 2-4pm. Parking is a garage that is hard to get in and out of.

Yelp
Very nice room with a great view! Sitting on the balcony people are screaming down to the beach. Loud talking on the balconies.

Yelp
I loved the location of this hotel - North Myrtle Beach. Everyone was very friendly, and the hotel was clean. The food that we ordered onsite was very good. The access to the beach was easy to get to and the views were amazing. The only thing that could be better is the amount of pool chairs and larger pools. It can get quite crowded. I am a bit of a wimp, and the pools were pretty chilly for me :)

Gary N.

Yelp
Room spacious with nice view of the ocean. Kitchen amenities a plus. Easy access to a show we attended at Alabama Theater as well as many dining choices in the area.

Ruth G.

Yelp
View was amazing. Ocean front location. The staff was friendly and responded quickly to any request. That's the end of the positive review. The unit we stayed in 1428 was run down and shabby for the price. Whoever painted the unit did a very sloppy job. Wall paint on the ceiling woodwork paint on the walls and countertops and the light switch covers were not removed but painted around leaving paint all over them. There is no restroom at the pool area so you had to go into the hotel and take the elevator to the first floor to use the restroom. Pool area was too small for the amount of units. For the price we paid I would not come back.

Yelp
First of all let me say this place is pretty cool for kids but for adults it really sucks. The parking garage is downright dangerous as they have traffic going up and down the levels at the same time. It's also a battle getting your car into a spot if you can find one at all. Rooms are extremely small. Our 1 BR had a Murphy bed which was unusable as a kitchen table had been placed in front of it-the table would have to go in the hallway if we had elected to use it. The kitchen area is tiny so much so it should be deemed a fire hazard. Thee couch ahem and I use the word couch when in reality it was no more than 4ft long and so uncomfortable, you are better off just going to the bedroom to complete any computer tasks you might have or to watch TV. Oh and the TV? Well if you can figure out the complex system they have going on then more power to you. You must be a genius! We also witnessed 2 separate incidents from wind picking up umbrellas at the pool area and literally flying through the air landing on unsuspecting guests. Management was notified after the first catastrophe but elected to do nothing, 15 min later it happened ah=gain, dangerous stuff hope the guys who got waylaid by these flying projectiles are okay. All in all it was and is and always will be Dirty Myrtle, just do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else. This rip was for 4 nights and I paid $1400-COMPLETE RIPOFF.

Yelp
The stay was good. Decent room, nice view, and restaurant food was great. Service was awesome. However, be warned. If you are a smoker. They have these signs on your outside balcony that say "Smoking or raping any substance is a 250 dollar fine". My wife is a smoker. If Id have known this I would NOT have booked a stay here. She's a smoker, not a leper. We had to go 10 floors down to walk almost off property for her to smoke. FYI the balcony is private and outside on a windy beach. Why this surprise we'll extort 250 from you rule? We won't ever stay here again.

Yelp
They have plenty parking, however their parking system is weird, although I understand the reasons and I will explain further. they have a parking area on premises for check-in and then you need to move the car to a parking building across the street. The reservation process was pretty easy and quick, as we came over during a slow season, they had plenty of rooms available. Check in was a bit slow, we had to wait a long while and the lines were not even that bad, we came over at a low season time, it was fairly cool weather and the long wait for check-in during a non-busy season is beyond me. We asked for a high floor and they told us they did not have anything available, however that same night I noticed that the upper floors had rooms with lights off at a early time, making me believe that there were actual rooms available that night, but we never know if they did that cause those were already reserved during our stay, but it was a little annoying, as our other friends arrived the night after us and got a room at the 15th floor with no issues.... Once we checked-in we were to take our luggage into our room.... they have a north and south wing so it can be a little confusing when coming here for the first time, we did love the fact that they have free access to the red box movie rentals. this is mostly a family resort so it I pretty nice to have access to this kind of perks specially for children. The apt we got was a 2 bedroom, and it had amazing views to the beach and the pool! the balcony was pretty nice and spacious, the looks of the apt is pretty nice, they are well decorated and the colours are so nice, it feels like a dream vacation at the beach. Each room had a full size bed and a TV with cable available, one bedroom was a master with a bathroom and then we had an additional communal bathroom with na nice bathtub in it. However the apt was little outdated,in the digital age we were in need of a lot more convenience when it comes to access to wall plugs and USB charging ports, and they do not have any USB charging ports in the rooms what so ever. They also did not have enough towels, toilet paper, paper towels, dish washing soap, in the room! they literally had one roll of toilet paper per bathroom and we had to call for additional items for the room which I bought it was silly, they should have had at least an extra toilet paper roll per bathroom and an extra paper towel roll in the kitchen, I personally hate to call the lobby for extra items, specially less than 24 hours of check-in. I also had a issue with the fact that they provide wash-cloths to wash dishes and I personally hate when hotels do that, I prefer to have a sponge and I do not get why hotels do not provide sponges instead, it is unsanitary in my opinion to be using a reusable towel to wash the dishes. As we arrived we went to the market to get some food to cook, and the stove top did not work, we had to call maintenance to fix it, only one of the tops was working when we arrived, which shows the they do not do any preventive maintenance of the rooms before checking in guests? they did fix it quickly but it was pretty annoying as we were real hungry and had to wait to get it fixed. They had WI-FI, but I felt like it did not work well. many areas in the room would lose connection and when I did get connection it was very poor in quality, I work online and that was a huge issue for me as I could not do my job while at the resort if I needed to. this was the biggest issue for me. The pool area is pretty nice and fun, they have plenty of sitting and lot of pool areas, indoor and outdoor, they even have a lazy river for the kids and the ones who want to just go with the flow. They also have a tiki bar by the pool and restaurants and bars in the resort, however the bar has a pretty much family and elderly like crowed, so this is not a spot for those who seek a spring break thrill. The resort is a 3 minute walk for the bars and restaurants of the area so if not much can be experienced at the resort there is still the area down the block. They were pretty nice at letting us checkout a little later, and they also charge 45 dollars extra if we wanted to checkout after 5pm which I feel like is a great deal if we wanted to spend another day at the pool. But we needed up leaving at the late checkout time. The staff was pretty friendly, and this place is perfect for families for sure, however they need to work on very small fixes, the internet, the availability of items upon check in, the maintenance of the kitchen before guests arrive and the WIFI! that wifi needs to work better! I would come back here if the rooms were upgraded for sure, we had a good time overall.

Yelp
My friends and I are all women of a "certain age". Therefore, when we planned a trip to Myrtle Beach, Avista Resort was the first place I thought of as far as lodging. My husband and I have been coming to Avista for years. My good gal pal planned the trip, my job was lodging. Therefore, I didn't want to suggest somewhere I've never been, nor to be unpleasantly surprised. It was very important to have oceanfront rooms. I also am aware of the awesome customer service. Great amenities, like Treetop Lounge, Off Main, Kiosks with an abundance of DVD's for the entire family, pools, lazy river, just to name a few. Our room was very clean, beautiful views and the beach was very clean as well. Also, the location is close to other restaurants and shopping. So, whether you're with your spouse, family or friends. Check out the Avista Resort. You will not regret it

Yelp
They have bed bugs we had to throw all our suitcases with clothes in them away then they asked did we contact airport because they come from there. She have monet back but this is horrible

Donna S.

Yelp
our entire experience was awesome. Our room was clean and what we noticed first was carpet was only in the bedroom which is awesome than the entire room was clean and fully stocked with everything we needed this is our 3rd stay here and it gets better every time.

Yelp
The cleanliness of the establishment was not good nor was the customer service. We had a balcony and every night someone threw items on the area. One person dropped their phone and it was inches from hitting me. Another individual threw there cigarette down. Common courtesy is just not existent. I would never return to this establishment the noise was easily heard from those above and beside us. Not much rest or relaxation during this trip.

Joseph J.

Yelp
Never had a problem while staying here, few flaws but nothing significant, also beautiful view of the beach

Yelp
Would not recommend this place. Not worth the time and money. Only a single handicap accessible place to park . It's just a low rent place.

Yelp
We had a great experience with Avista and will stay again. The staff are friendly and resort is extremely clean.

Yelp
Very comfortable, I've stayed here twice and loved it both times. Staff is friendly, online check in is a little glitchy, digital key works flawlessly and it was nice getting to skip checkin.

Yelp
We had a fabulous time at Avista! Check in was fast & friendly. We were lucky enough to be able to get in our room early. I had asked for a high floor and was thrilled to get in 1702. My boys loved the view. The condo was spotless and perfect for a beach stay. Good shower pressure, cold ac and all the amenities you need. Washer, dryer and dishwasher were a bonus. Coach and the guys in the garage were AWESOME! So friendly and helpful. Parking was a little tight, but not that big of a deal. Pools were packed and a little chilly for us, so we gravitated to the beach. We did enjoy the corn hole boards a few times. We ate out most of the time, but the breakfast buffet was reasonable and the drink stands are a nice option. My only complaint is that the pools and hot tubs looked a little dirty. Perhaps a midday clear out and clean out would be helpful. Also, while a non-smoking property...there was definitely pot smoking throughout the property. My youngest wanted to know where the skunk was... However, we would not hesitate to return. The staff and guests were some of the happiest, friendliest people we've ever encountered on a vacation. Everyone was just happy to be there. That goes along way. Also, get up for sunrise, either from your balcony or the beach walk...stunning.

Add D.

Yelp
The stay was really nice. As with all owned units, some are updated and some are not. There are really no complaints on the units decor, etc. The mattresses really need to be updated there was a dip in the middle of the one and the other one was springy. The bed covers & blanket were super thin. The couch was very uncomfortable. The small dinette set was worthless and needs to be replaced so uncomfortable. I mean the owners have to be making a fortune on renting their units, they at least could make it nicer and more comfortable than what it was. The staff were super friendly. Although they had the typical time-share pusher, that will not take no for an answer. You could say you were homeless and they will still try to push it on you. ‍. The food at their restaurants was convenient if you needed a snack. The pool had DJ's throughout the week that was fun. The weather turned out to be nice. There is absolutely zero security on site. The register parking was a hot mess. So confusing and so tight to maneuver the concrete walls. The parking garage is across the street, it's pretty tight. There are barely any handicap parking spots. I like to try different resorts and would not return just because of that.

Yelp
Housekeeping thief-whatever you do, don't leave Anything in room when you leave. You will never see it again. My friend and I have been goung here for four years and last week we were in hurry early morning, abd I left my good Talbot blazer, Sperry tennis shoes, bottle of wine in the room. I was primarily concerned about the blazer and called the next day to see if I could have it UPS'd to Pittsburgh. We'll got run around "not in lost & found" I said, It's not lost, it's hanging in room 723 in the bedroom closet. Still they didn't "find" anything. Well both my friend and I agree the staff seems to have change, not as friendly, helpful, or around when needed when loading car. Only one older gentleman was helpful when we arrived helped us with our bags. When leaving had a lady from above screeming Do you need help? Wasn't sure, so I said no. After goung to Avista twice this year and once past 4 years I will never pay good money to be treated like a Motel 8 customer. Resort? I've been to many, never where you can't trust Housekeeping. DONT GO IF YOUR WORRIED ABOUT YOUR PERSONAL PROPERTY.

Roger D.

Yelp
Every time I have stay at the Avista I have had a great time.Every one is so friendly and helpful My only issue is that the onsite activities did not match what they show on the website This week showed three events yet the entertainment manger was not aware off this was turning up for lots off on site events that no body new about

Paula F.

Yelp
I rank this resort as one of the most family friendly places to stay on vacation if you have children. When our grandchildren were younger, the various pools, the beach and the daily activities were plenty for the kids to do, along with being close enough to head back to your room for lunch or a break. As the kids became teenagers 16,17 years old, they still enjoy the pools, beach and stuff but they can now walk to Main Street to shop and dine. They enjoy just hanging out. Being older with disabilities this set up works great for our family. Staff have always been very friendly and accommodating. Special thanks to the staff. I would highly recommend this resort to anyone looking for a stay in North Myrtle Beach.

Yelp
This was the worst hotel I've ever stayed at! To start the room was dirty. There were long hairs all over the towels in the bathroom. There was a blood stain on the headboard. The electrical outs in the entire room didn't work. I couldn't charge anything!! There was no ice bucket. The elevator wasn't working and the other elevator took forever. The vending machines were out of stock. There were numerous amount of kids staying at the hotel without supervision. They were running up and down the halls after quiet hours. They were playing games also and hid behind a vending machine and door at 11:30 at night. They scared me have to death. We reserved two rooms together, and they ended up, separated me from my family . My family stayed in the north side, and I had to stay on the southside by myself. My family paid for ocean front and didn't get it. The staff was rude and the managers were useless. The hallways smelled like sewer and trash. There were trash piles outside people's hotel room doors. There were trash and hair balls around the indoor pool and hot tub. Not to mention they are way over priced for what you get. We were harassed by the hotel entertainment director. This is just to name a few!

Yelp
Avista was a beautiful stay! We booked after leaving a nasty hotel and being upset on our vacation and they found us a perfect ocean front room. We did not come across ONE rude employee. Special shout out to employee Cornelius as he was super nice and just stuck out to us on the friendliness. Also the buffet breakfast was delicious! Overall - Very clean and will definitely stay again!

Yelp
Jim E. the business manager again gets a one star for making sad excuses for a hotel that could be great, but is just a mess. We should have looked more closely at the reviews before booking. We stayed at Avista for 8 nights beginning 10/8/21. Please see my Yelp review. The pool and tub temps are just not being monitored. We have been to Myrtle over 50 times and most tubs are hot but not too hot, and pools are refreshing without being too cold. Quit making BS excuses for for poor management. Your Just Off Main restaurant is pathetic. The bar smells of mold and has no customers. It must be cheaper to hire a "business manager" full of BS than it would be to hire good management to fix things.

Yelp
This place was a nice place to stay. We would highly recommend. It was very clean and nicely laid out. The amenities were great, the staff were professional and the hotel smelled nice even the elevators. I would have gave them a five star but I feel like there are a few things that could be better. I dislike the fact that you have to cross the roads at the parking garage. It's scary when you have small children and have cars flying by. The electronic room keys only worked half the time. So be sure get a key card. The breakfast buffet was only okay, it reminded us of a continental breakfast that came with a high price tag. Other than that, our stay was awesome!

Yelp
I have been here 8 times and we only stay here when we come. Our last visit there was a small issue with the room and the manager Kathy Putnam was all over it with immediate assistance. Not only that we ended up getting food poisoning by a local deli (not the hotel) and Kathy was very accommodating for the additional 3 days we had to stay. It's because of the exemplary service she provided we will continue to come back to Avista! She gets 5 stars all the way!

Yelp
Horrible experience. We should get every penny back that we paid for this place. We had to change rooms because our fridge stopped cooling and all of the food inside went bad. Yes it was great they let us switch and compensated for the lost food, but it took a lot of time to pack everything up and move across the hotel and our kids lost out on beach time that evening to do it. We had to ask every single day for someone to come get our trash and even after asking, it wasn't even always taken. The room was completely out dated. For the EXACT same cost, our other family was in a different room that was completely updated, they never had to ask for their trash to be taken out or room to be cleaned. Our room was not very clean. The pool and lazy river were filthy every single day. Wrappers, forks, bandaids, and other garbage and dirt were inside. We actually had to ask for them to clean the pool and lazy river almost everyday which was uncalled for. There was also one of the pools and hot tub closed at almost all times which made the one that was open completely overcrowded. We paid to have pools and we couldn't even let our children go in because there wasn't enough space. No one was monitoring at the pool and kids were running around everywhere unsupervised and being very unkind, especially at the lazy river which was another reason why I didn't let my kids get it. We couldn't ever sit on our balcony because it always smelled of marijuana which we also complained about and nothing was done. The parking garage is absolutely ridiculous and dangerous. I really hope someone sees this and decides to give us our money back, since many of the amenities we paid for couldn't even be used or taken advantage of.

Yelp
Just finished up my 5th stay at Avista in the last couple of years! If available...I do not stay anywhere else! Great location, great views, great bar (Tree Top Lounge), and the best part...ALWAYS a friendly & very helpful staff! My wife & I absolutely love staying here as well as my race team when we stay there for local races. See you again soon Avista!!

Yelp
Wish I could give negative stars. We checked into our rooms and unloaded our things to find there was drinks in the refrigerator. Not thinking anything of it, we dropped off our luggage and hit the beach. We came back to the room to find the drinks missing and our drinks had been knocked over. We asked the front desk and they found out that a house keeper came back into the room after we left and took it. We should never feel like an employee will enter the room without our knowledge and take things. Terrible service. Would recommend if you want your things rummaged through.

Yelp
Stayed for 4th of July weekend, started with a wonderful checkin from Kalli, she really set the tone for the stay. Saw fireworks from the oceanfront balcony suite. Kalli also checked in on us throughout the stay. Clean resort, positive vibes by the pool. Great time.

Yelp
I stayed here last year and was pleased with our room, so I booked it again this year. I booked it early in the year to get a similar room, but when we arrived, we got a dirty room on the first floor overlooking the parking lot. We left. We will never stay there again.

Yelp
we came from CT for our nice oceanfront room that was reserved back in Jan only to find out thuds dump gave our room away and tried to pass off a room facing the parking lot as ocean view. they were not at all accommodating the room was dirty and I will never ever go there again. I would not advise anyone to go here. no customer service whatsoever. shame on you for giving our room away.

Yelp
View is spectacular, beach is nice pool is nice. The rooms have a full kitchen and washer dryer is nice. Now , the not so nice... The room is filthy, the couch is dirty, stained, and falling apart. The outdoor furniture is no better the wicker chairs are falling apart and being held together with duct tape . The restaurant onsite was also filthy there were the brown dots left by roach eggs by the entrance and on the fake flower that was on my table the wait staff was ok although they seemed overwhelmed ment is pretty limited but the burger and chicken fingers were pretty good. If It weren't a 12 hour ride home and my kids didn't see the pool already I would of left immediately after seeing room pictures attached

Yelp
I recently stayed at the Avista Resort in North Myrtle Beach. We booked through Vrbo which was fine. That experience was pleasant. The check in process was relatively seamless although received minimal direction from the front desk person since we didn't book through them. My main gripe with the Avista is the parking. There is a designated parking garage across the street from the property which is fine. But they should be ashamed of themselves for the handicap parking situation. The parking garage is a little tricky to navigate in general as the road leading up to each level is narrow but manageable. There are mirrors at each turn so you can see if someone is coming. We had a mini-van and I don't know how people with larger cars did it. But the spaces are incredibly small and if you're handicap FORGET it. There were plenty of handicap spots available on each level, but they are all situated with a pilar or some obstacle in the way. If you have a wheelchair lift, NO WAY. There was ONE spot on the ground level that was even thinkable and most of the time there was an Avista-owned golf cart parked in the space that was for a lift to extend out to. We had a family member that lives locally so we wanted to host them for lunch in our room. This family member is in a wheelchair and they were LUCKY enough to have gotten the ONE spot that could accommodate him. And it was like pulling teeth working with the front desk to get him a limited parking pass in order for him to even use the parking garage even though we called ahead of time to see if this was even possible to which they agreed. So the moral of the story is, if you're handicap in any way, don't stay at this hotel because you won't be able to find somewhere to park. Otherwise in regards to the hotel itself, we had a lovely stay, the hotel was clean, onsite restaurant mediocre but pretty affordable for an in-hotel restaurant. It served its purpose for just grabbing a bite for dinner on the first night there. The beach is super conveniently accessible as was the pool. The bar at the pool was ok. We got some frozen mixed drinks which were tasty, but don't expect a boozy drink though. They were pretty stingy on the alcohol. But also not outrageously priced like you might expect it to be. The staff we dealt with was relatively friendly. We bought groceries at the local Food Lion and the staff member in the loading area at the hotel helped me all the way up to the room with the groceries on a luggage cart. It was very helpful. Side note: do NOT go to Walmart for groceries as that is what EVERYONE else is doing. It's always mobbed and you'll regret going there. Highly suggest a store off the path of the resort. Food Lion was perfect.

Yelp
Very much enjoyed our stay here. Not much to gripe about other than the typical resort elevators. Massive building, it's split into 2 sides and only 3 elevators per side. It gets stacked up pretty quick. The worst gripe is the parking garage, hands down the worst parking lot/structure I've ever been in. Other than that, nice rooms, great pool area, restaurant on site is good -- we had a minor maintenance issue with a refrigerator, but they had it fully swapped out within 30 mins of calling about it. we plan on staying again!

Yelp
We stayed for our 47th anniversary and wasn't impressed. The so called ocean front room over looked the pool with the ocean in the far distance. The ocean waves couldn't be heard because of the pool noise. We didn't have hot water, the maintenance guy said it was because the water was on the roof and with us being on the bottom floor it we would only get "warm water". The coffee pot didn't work and our phone showed we had a message but we couldn't retrieve it.

Yelp
I'm not completely sure why Avista has such a low rating. Honestly, I check Yelp before I make reservations anywhere, but I always read the comments rather than go on the star rating. What I found is that Avista has one common complaint: front desk customer service. That, too, was a complaint for me, but I've stayed at lots of different places in the Myrtle Beach area, and I have found two that I would say I'd come back to again and again. Avista is one of them. I'm assigning five stars because outside of the front desk, my stay was fabulous. The hotel itself is nice. The room was clean. I took lots of photos so you can see just how spacious it is. I did not try the restaurant or bars here, so I cannot speak to them. I can say that the pool area and beach access were clean, organized, and nice. If you're looking for a ton of stuff to do, this probably isn't the place for you. There are a couple of small pools, 2 lazy rivers (one inside and one out) and a few hot tubs. The pool area is not overly large, but it is well maintained and clean. I am not one who swims in hotel pools, but I feel like I could have gotten into this one and remained disease free. There was ample hot water. The bathroom was HUGE and clean. In many resorts in this area, I find that the rooms are damp. I'm not sure what Avista does, but the room didn't have that beachy mildew feel or smell. The parking garage is tight - especially on the ramp, but there is plenty of parking (in a garage) so your car is well protected. The garage is also gated, which I think adds an element of security. I saw lots of complaints about parking across the street, but the hotel does a nice job of creating an unloading zone so you can unload and then park. It's really not a big deal at all. They even have free DVD rental for the entirety of your stay (one at a time, but still.... free movies). This really is a nice resort (lots of rooms but not lots of pool area) right on the beach. Read the reviews before you make your choice. You'll notice that folks either didn't pay attention to what they were reserving or they had problems with one or two rude people. I recommend the resort as a clean, safe place. Now - the elephant in the room - I interacted with two people at the front desk. One was right down rude. The other was just not friendly. The first person didn't bother to tell me room number - or if she did, I forgot. But, she definitely did not write it on my key packet. So - I had to stand in line a second time to find out my room number. Super annoying, but I got over it. This is one time that I chose my battle. I'm not going to let one (or two) desk clerks ruin my day or my stay. I figure that they had a worse day than I did and needed to be mean. If you can look past the front desk, you'll like staying here.

Yelp
I couldn't help but notice that Jim E never responded to my points on how we were treated 'after' the bed big matter. That is where you failed. Offering me 30% off on my next visit is insulting. Only returning one days of expenses is offensive. But, you glazed over that experience. You have control over that

Yelp
The rooms are nice and clean ,and the staff is friendly. The oy downside is the pool closes way too early 10pm is insane because little kids are everywhere their needs to be a time fir adults like after 10pm.

Yelp
What a fabulous ocean-side location and beautiful resort! Met family in North Myrtle Beach for a beach experience and Avista was the perfect location. Sits right on the sand and lovely pool area and dining on-site. Also an easy walk to venues on Main Street. My ocean-view room was spectacular- - with balcony, living room, kitchen and comfy bed. Nicely appointed. I can hardly wait to return!!
