This was just a sad, sad, sad experience. The description of the restaurant says "authentic Israeli shawarma" but that is just an unfair comparison. For those of you who have been to Israel, I am happy that we have shared the experience. The food in Israel is amazing, fresh, flavorful, and generous portions. Aviv was anything but. The only meat shawarma sandwich they had was turkey. I was initially willing to look past this, as they describe that the pit has lamb fat on the top to coat the meat to ensure that it is juicy and tender, but nay nay.
The meat was super dry. It also lacked herbs and flavor. The pita also tasted old. The shawarma itself was super small compared to a standard size shawarma. The vegetables were half decent, nothing spectacular. The real nail in the coffin though: the sandwich was 16 dollars, plus taxes, and no sides. I tipped two dollars for my pick up order so I paid 20 dollars for a tiny, sad, unflavorful sandwich.
I feel terrible about posting this review, as I would have loved for this small joint near my apartment to be good. The people who work here seem to be nice too. But, unless there is a massive overhaul to prices, menu options, and taste I do not recommend going here.
