Friday night stroll on the square for our Just Desserts! The almond cake with the perfect amount of sweetness and never dry or heavy, combined with a delicious and slightly tart berry compote made for the perfect bite. No artificial tastes here. If you’re in a fudgy dark chocolate mood, the molten chocolate cake will definitely hit the spot. Combine it with a warm Irish coffee and you’ll have the ideal trio to hit all the right notes. Our server was warm and friendly. And it wasn’t so loud that you had to strain to hear the sparkling conversation. Thank you Avocados—best desserts on the Square!

This Resturant is at a nice small strip mall. We called and reserved as we were traveling on a long weekend. Our table was ready when we arrived and ready to jump into ordering. We had several options to choose like salads, omelets etc Service was nice and so also the food.

First time coming here. We met some friends we haven’t seen in a while on a Friday night. There was a pretty good crowd but we made reservations ahead of time since we had a party of 7 so we didn’t have to wait. Started off with Calamari which was great. I took our servers suggestion and ordered the Basil Cream Chicken and Shrimp. I was not disappointed! It was fantastic! My wife got the Chicken and Mushroom Alfredo which was great too. Our friends ordered a couple appetizers, the guacamole and chips, and also the hummus and chips. Both awesome! Our server, Evan, did a great job handling our party’ and knew the menu very well. He kept our drinks full, empty plates off the table, and made sure we had everything we needed. We had a great experience and will definitely return! Oh, and the praline cheesecake was the bomb!!!

I came here to have lunch with a friend after several hours at the botanical gardens near Gainesville. It was a perfect day to sit outside and there was live music playing in the park. I ordered the artisan salad with chicken strips. My friend ordered the Caesar salad, also with the chicken. The service and ambience were great. 1 star removed because the chicken was very dry.

Google
The menu looks great and the food was good, but... We had a gift card that they would not honor. They blamed it on the previous owner. That might be true, but they offered absolutely no accommodation to us. We essentially lost $50 today and Avocados lost a customer

Google
Really good wish they had more breakfast food options though. The server and host was really nice and overall a nice place not too expensive.

Google
It's a cool little restaurant. I went for the Sunday brunch. It was pretty good, but I'm not so sure the price matched the quality. I definitely would not recommend the latte here... it was not good. I was also kind of bummed they didn't have eggs. As far as the rest of the food goes, it was pretty good... nothing really had a wow factor to it, but there was a decent variety for sure. This place was worth a try, but I doubt I would be back for brunch.

Google
Happy birthday, Rico birthday twin to my dad. 🥳 May 27 Rico Rocks!!! Jose cooked up gluten-free chicken tenders that were out of this world and sweet potato fries. We thoroughly enjoyed it. Can't wait to come back for the gluten-free calamari.

Tara K.

Yelp
You know what I liked most about this place? They told me everything on the menu could be made gluten free!! Especially the fried stuff what?!? I didn't even mean to come to this place for gluten free necessarily. I do avoid gluten but usually just pick around on the menu till I find something. I haven't had fried chicken fingers with honey mustard from a place in soo long. They were good. Thx for offering dishes I can't normally get anywhere else with my food sensitivity. The menu looked pretty good and I'd love to come back again and try some other meals listed, soon.

Yelp
Stopped here for lunch yesterday and had a nice meal outside on the front patio facing the town square. Weather was perfect and all the fall leaves around us made for such a pleasant day. Seated right away when we arrived. Service was quick and our server checked up on us a few times to make sure we had everything we needed. The chicken fingers are just naturally GF, so this was a great choice of lunch spot for me! They were more so chicken nuggets than chicken tenders (as you can see in the picture), but it was a good meal for someone who rarely gets to eat fried chicken. My dad got a Cuban sandwich with regular fries. He LOVED the fries and thought the sandwich was very good. Bonus - they had sweet potato fries despite them not being on the menu, so I got those with my chicken. They seemed baked rather than fried and I think they were the highlight of the meal - so salty and soft inside/lightly crispy outside! So yummy dipped in their honey mustard.

Yelp
Although the staff hustles, it takes a long time to get lunch. Fried fish and grilled fish tacos were good, but NO Tabasco- the #1 hit sauce in the south! To rub it in to southerners they have a poster of Tabasco as you go to the restroom. No salsa and no Tabasco isn't as bad as the bugs flying around as you eat.

Yelp
Great atmosphere, Small portions with High prices. Coming from a foodie city city. I was looking for the same experience. I left there Happy with the experience but was soon hungry afterwards.

Yelp
We had a gift card for $50 and was not accepted because it was from another owner and they refused to take it. The food was just ok.

Yelp
Used to be better , slow, mumbling server. Food arrived cold drinks are different, 1 drink gave me a headache (cheap liquor)? server never returned until way after meal was over. food has potential to be great. maybe we hit it on an off night.

Yelp
This was our second visit to Avocados on our way to visit family. We love the vibe and menu offerings. Everyone seems to be enjoying themselves here.

Yelp
I went to lunch at Avocados with my daughter in law on a Monday afternoon. First of all, we were grateful that they were open on a Monday as some places in the square are not. We opted to sit outside as their area was nice and shady and the breeze felt great. Our server came out fairly soon. I never caught her name as she didn't state it and I forgot to ask (and at the end of the meal we paid on the tablet and I didn't request a receipt) but she was a sweet gal. We ordered drinks...I don't remember the names of them, and they don't list the names of their specialty drinks on their website, at least that I can see, but I know I ordered a lemonade and vodka drink. They do have a full bar, so anything is possible. I ordered a grilled cheese sandwich, which was great. Lots of melted cheese and toasted perfectly. It came with fries, which were amazing! My daughter in law ordered a chicken Cesar salad, which she very much enjoyed. It was nice that they put enough salad dressing on it so she didn't have to ask for more. It was a very simple meal, done very well. I did ask for a side of ranch which came it in a tiny cup. I would have liked more and I'm sure I could have asked for another cup, but it was hot and I didn't want to make her go back and forth for something that I probably really didn't need. Haha. I will happily return to Avocados again. I noted that there were loads of gluten free options for those that this is importantly to, and I believe i read they fry their items in soy bean oil, which is great for those veggie folks!

Yelp
Avocadoes is a Gainesville staple. Their food is always good and consistent. The service is friendly and fast. The restaurant has outdoor seating but their hidden gem is their Sunday brunch. It's buffet style with a menu for made to order items and you can't beat it. I can't wait to go back now that it's getting a little cooler and sit on their outdoor seating.

Yelp
The best asparagus soup I have ever had. The service was exceptional. Been dreaming about that soup since we went and will return!

Yelp
Great spot on the square for some good grub and a drink. I have been here a couple of times. It has always been good. Simple menu done well. This time I got the fish and chips. All was hot, juicy and perfectly cooked. The Apple and brie grilled cheese looked really good too. Great service and good food. A great place on the square in Gainesville.

Yelp
This is a small restaurant with big character. Menus for breakfast, brunch and lunch are diverse. We had a nice brunch with a view of the historic Gainesville square. Service was attentive

Brandon F.

Yelp
Gainesville has so many good spots but it's so disappointing how we don't have a really good brunch spot. And unfortunately, I don't consider a buffet a good brunch spot.

Yelp
We loved everything we ate, from the fish and chips to the Eggs Benedict. It was so amazing to be able to eat gluten-free! The salad was amazing too, very fresh, perfectly balanced vinegret

Yelp
Just stumbled across this place. Was with a friend from out of town, and we felt a bit peckish. Stopped in on the recommendation of the brewery a few doors down. The host was very friendly and cheerful. Our server was attentive and very sweet. We had the flatbread with goat cheese and olives, a bowl of loaded baked potato soup, chicken tenders and fries, a cocktail and beer. Everything was absolutely outstanding. Will definitely return next time we're in the area!

Yelp
Great food, service and a great place to hang out--I've eaten shrimp, roasted Brussels sprouts , the mussels were great at hop scotch

Yelp
First and foremost, ask to be seated in Evan's section! That will start you off on a great experience and a superb menu adventure. Evan is so cool and knowledgeable! He steered us to the Goat Cheese Bread to start. Clean, light and bright. The naan bread is made in house and is wonderful, with olives, goddess dressing, and the goat cheese, THE GOAT CHEESE! Wow! Evan had some other menu suggestions and I settled in on the fish tacos. Evan said go all in, for the fried. I'm married, so I do what I am told. Again, wow! Piping hot, light and fresh! Love that the lettuce and pick is on the side, for me to build. This kept the fish and tortillas dry! Great job, chef! Oh, and wine! The wine was half off!!! Okay, that alone would have sold me, but then the selections were great (had the Conundrum) and the pours were generous! Hours are a little wonky, so look or call, before you pull on a locked handle. No one wants disappointment for lunch or dinner. We will definitely be back again... and asking for Evan - Cool Cat!

Bonnie S.

Yelp
The only place to eat when on the square. The food and service are incredible every time!! Great place with an even better

Tina H.

Yelp
We went here for breakfast. Atmosphere was nice and server Bree was kind, Christian based. food came out in a timely manner but I got the avacado eye opener, 2 eggs bacon grits and toast. I asked for real maple syrup server said they didn't have any, I asked what food was cooked in and was told soy oil, wasn't asked how I wanted my poached eggs, soft or hard and they were a little over done, avocados we two tiny pieces. I did ask for a little more avacado and was brought out more. sour dough toast was not sour dough it tasted like white bread. I have to admit my expectations are on the high side, but this was my experience.

Yelp
Found this hole in the wall on a trip to Dahlonega. Great brunch, great atmosphere. Highly recommend!

Celeste C.

Yelp
New owner? New Chef? New management? not sure what has happened, but this is NOT the restaurant that I came to love upon moving to Gainesville. I've ordered via Door Dash once my favorites; the shrimp Cesar salad because the shrimp were huge with tails on and it had homemade croutons with shaved parmigiana as well as yummy bread Two times (once in restaurant and another delivery) I've received shrimp half the size and boiled without tails; store bought croutons and no parmigiana as well as bread! I will be searching for a new staple restaurant in my town, I'm truly saddened.

Yelp
We found this little place on Yelp a while back, and were delighted to find that they have gluten-free fried fish, shrimp and chicken. LAWD!! Count me IN. Our first trip, we were here for dinner, and had the Fish n Chips and the Fried Shrimp. I mean, LAWD, y'all! We knew we'd found a place we'd like to visit again. Well, today, we had to come to Gainesville to transact some business, so you KNOW where we headed. Yep! We're BAAA-AAACK!! Today, we had the Chicken strips and Fish n Chips (no shrimp available at lunch). Everything was delicious all over again, so now, we'll be looking forward to our Third Visit. Gluten Free. Goodies.

Yelp
Enjoyed the buffet - good food that's perfect for brunch, though on the pricier side. Worth it for the quality!
google avatar

Yelp
A little pricey but the food and staff were top notch. An all around good time. I like too that it's right on the square.

Yelp
We visited Gainesville to walk around town and enjoy some good food. Well, we found Avocados Restaurant. We sat in the window and was able to see people moving up and down the street enjoying their day. Our server Mary, greeted us at our table. Very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. Food begins. We ordered the Brunswick stew. Very tasty with sweet tinge to the flavor. Very good!! We also ordered the guacamole with chips(warm) , quinoa salad, the Brie and apple grilled cheese, grilled chicken sandwich and the fish tacos. All of the dishes were very good with the hot dishes served hot and cold dishes served cold. Spot on!! We enjoyed our lunch so much, we decided to order takeout for dinner as well. Mary ( our server ) took great care of us with a smile!!! As we were leaving , I notice a manager working the dining room. Started to chat with him about the history of the restaurant and the chef owner. Bud was very kind taking time to chat. He even showed much their sister restaurant next door. Very nice. I picked up our take out order at 3:30 as scheduled. As walked in, I was greeted by two associates and the other's were wrapping silverware for dinner service. My philosophy has always been to support small local businesses. This is definitely a must for your next visit to Gainesville Ga..Thank Bud and Mary for a great experience and spot on food!!

Yelp
Stopped by the square on way home from Dahlonega. Had seen reviews for Avocados on way down but was surprised we parked right across so decided to give it a try. Great lil location on square and comfortable seating. Started with double expresso martinis which were great. Service was absolutely on point from start to finish. We had the calamari, petite medallions with Mac n cheese, the salmon with asparagus and the crème brûlée. The calamari was fresh and crispy. The steak and Mac just right. I didn't try salmon (not a fave) but with clean plate understand excellent. The only down was the crème brûlée. Too thin, just not tasty. Server offered to take off but small biz. Will absolutely return next time in Gainesville.

Yelp
Great service and cool little spot off of the square. Food was solid and had options for all.

Yelp
this place is a gluten frees person heaven. I had to go gluten free a few months ago and they had fried shrimp, fried calamari, chicken tenders and much more all gluten free. I felt so included by this. The service was so friendly and everyone was beyond kind. It does not look like much from the outside, but the inside is very clean and homey. I highly recommend this place!

Yelp
Our brunch crew came to brunch at Avocados today. Amelia and Nick went above and beyond to accommodate us. They were both amazing. Thank you for a wonderful brunch. The table we were at had a reservation and they allowed us to move tables to keep our brunch going. Thank you!!!
google avatar

Yelp
Have you had a chance to have brunch at Avacado's Restaurant yet? If you haven't, then you're missing out on fantastic food and a great experience. Do you want biscuits and gravy, bacon, sausage? Well honey, they have it. You can also get a a seafood medley, and mussels. Are you in the mood for pancakes? Do you want them plain, with blueberries, pecans or chocolate chips? How about French toast? Eggs Benedict? Just tell your server! And don't forget to have a mimosa! They serve brunch Saturdays and Sundays 10-2. The atmosphere is so relaxed and comfortable, and the crew and manager David are wonderful!

Yelp
Nestled on the picturesque Town Square of Gainesville, GA, Avocados is a Bistro styled restaurant that has an industrial motif interspersed with Christian and positive quotes on the walls to foster an air of welcome and reflection. I stopped by for lunch and was able to park in the shade of the free town parking deck only a block or two away, sheltering my car and myself from the blistering Georgia sun. I was immediately seated, and my server, Erica, did a wonderful job. I asked for her recommendations on what would be the best salad, and she went over the ingredients for all, then recommended the Artisan Salad because she said the Cilantro Vinaigrette was really good. I opted to have salmon added to my salad, even though it made my salad $22. A little pricey compared to similar salads I've had elsewhere, so I was pleasantly surprised when the salad presented to me made it worth every penny! First off, the beautiful piece of grilled salmon was the largest I've ever had served on a salad. After cutting it all up into bite sized pieces, there was a morsel or tasty salmon in every bite. As I hate eating dry lettuce when I'm eating "rabbit food", Emily obliged me by bringing me extra servings of the very good dressing. It was truly the best and most enjoyable Salmon salad I've ever had, and I've had it many times at other places. I regret not taking a photo of it when it came out, but trust me, it presents well with the beautiful greens, nice pieces of bread, and the aforementioned large cut of grilled salmon. I thoroughly enjoyed my first meal at Avocados, and will surely be back. Emily even made recommendations for my wife and myself when we return, telling us the Quinoa Salad at Dinner is remarkable when paired with chicken. I'm already looking forward to that opportunity.
google avatar

Jill R.

Yelp
I hate to leave a 3 when the food was so good but I can't get past the bizarre quotes all over the walls... written on ripped off sheets of paper with marker. They were Christian bible quotes - I guess. To be honest, it creeped me out. It seemed cultish. Put some nice religious artwork up if that's your thing. But this looked crappy and cheap... and ruined the whole vibe. If you do go - get the Brie and apple grilled cheese. I won't go back because of the weirdness, but I'll be thinking about that sandwich!
google avatar

Shannon B.

Yelp
Great spot on the square for a delicious meal. Starres with fried calamari and then moved into fish & chips. Good food and service. Atmosphere was nice and we met the manager. He invited us to come up for the comedy show. We'll try that next time.
google avatar

Doc H.

Yelp
Great food but just went in for dinner and employees just walked by me and did not acknowledge me at all. Can't even say it was bad service just no service at all.
google avatar

Yelp
Excellent service, great trout special and quinoa salad. Loved the Bible verses on the wall. Keep it up. Congrats as you fight the good fight of faith and food.
google avatar

Myung B.

Yelp
My family and I have eaten here numerous times. The first few times the food was amazing and the service very good. The last couple of times we have been, we were very disappointed in both the food and the service. We still want to give them another try but haven't been back in over a year.
google avatar

Patricia N.

Yelp
Love the food as long as I dine outside. The hand made religious stuff on the walls inside looks horrible and is inappropriate for a business.

Susan R.

Yelp
Good food, great margaritas and friendly staff. I especially enjoy eating on the sidewalk in the spring and summer.

Yelp
On our way to Dillard we stopped for lunch in this nice quaint restaurant. We were seated promptly and a nice young man took our drink orders. We all ordered a meal and I did ask to substitute cheddar cheese with goat cheese. Good came out hot and nicely presented. Unfortunately the cheese was not substituted but I did enjoy my omelet. The rest room had a wait and we were offered to use the one next door. A very nice gesture! A nice place for a relaxing lunch. Parking is on the street do you may have to drive around a bit.

Jeremy S.

Yelp
The food was fantastic! the service was great! The atmosphere was also ver nice! Over a great place to eat!
google avatar

Kimberlee R.

Yelp
I love eating local, supporting businesses that are owned in the community. Our server was great and the food was delicious. From what we understand, the owner is very involved and works in the kitchen. When the Lord lays a word on his heart, he writes it down and puts it on the wall. I found it to be sincere and wonderfully encouraging. This place is a light in a world that's become very dim and confused. We'll definitely be back, it's a local favorite!
google avatar

K G.

Yelp
9/30/21 early dinner. We enjoy our dinner at a sidewalk table on a warming evening. Our food came out quickly and the waitress was friendly. There was live music that evening. After dinner we strolled around the town square which is lined with restaurants and cute gift and clothing shops.
google avatar

Yolimar S.

Yelp
Ordered a grilled chicken sandwich on uber eats and received "A Side of grilled chicken". This is more of a eat there kind of place to make sure your order is right, I'd say don't order delivery unless you're going to call the restaurant and confirm they have the correct order. The chicken is dry and not very tasty, definitely not worth the $12 plus delivery fee and tip.
google avatar

Chelsea B.

Yelp
The customer service was outstanding (shout out to Bud, Abbey and Bre! They were amazing!) and the food was just a good! I had a mimosa and the Cuban. The fries just might be my all time favorite! I highly recommend this place! It exceeded my expectations.

Phyllis P.

Yelp
Service was fine. Not her fault. Was recommended to go here for lunch. Heard it was excellent. The upstairs is being remodeled. Horribly noisy. And the servers were in back banging silverware and whatever else. No one cared that we had come to relax. Eating at home would have been a big improvement. Food was just okay. My husband had fish and chips and was disappointed. I had a chicken sandwich. It was fine and the soup was excellent but if it were my restaurant, I would have come to apologize for the atmosphere or offered a dessert or something. I was so looking forward to a lovely relaxing lunch and felt like I was in the midst of a noisy construction site (and I was).

Duff S.

Yelp
Up front acknowledgment that we didn't choose to eat here, which is normally the only thing I'd base a restaurant review on. But given the specifics here, I felt the need to say something and echo others who have expressed their discomfort for the truly disturbed collection of religious nonsense on the walls. I know I'm in a smaller town in Georgia- sometimes finding a restaurant or coffee shop that isn't preachy somehow is basically impossible, and thats fine. I don't begrudge people expressing their faith if it's done in the spirit of kindness. When your decor includes "give me liberty or give me death" and some obscure Biblical conspiracy apologetic, however, a line is being crossed that any reasonable person should realize is going to make a good portion of your visitors uncomfortable. So, given the opportunity to support that financially, I decline.

Yelp
Great drinks and atmosphere. We only got drinks from here but the service was good. The bartender was friendly and he made our drinks strong. The prices were great as well.

Lauren G.

Yelp
Love this place, the turkey sandwich and chicken sandwich they do for lunch are awesome as well! Had the calamari and Quinoa stir fry, loved it.
