Awa boutique + design Hotel

AWA Boutique is a lovely small hotel for a getaway.|Located in a residential area about 1,5 miles from the beach/bus terminal and walking distance to a shopping mall it’s a tranquil place to relax. |Upon arrival we were told that construction was going for another one or two hours. When we came back after coffee noise was still brutally loud (it was the room directly on top of us). Luckily, we were offered a different room away from the construction that very evening (though it wasn’t bothersome next day). ||Breakfast was good on quality and variety, staff very attentive and friendly.||The hotel offers free bicycles which is really handy to navigate around. ||Facilities are just great, we recommend staying here.

Really nice hotel with gym, spa and outdoor and indoor pools. Gave it 4 starts instead of 5 due to steam room not working and bathroom being a little dated but overall great service. Location wise it’s not beach front but it’s quite central and convenient.

Nice hotel away from the centre but still close enough to commute. Nice room with good air conditioning and comfy bed. Bathroom ok, could do with a bit of a revamp, the green mosaic floor tiles look dirty. |Great breakfast selection but the breakfast space is small. One morning we could not find a table to eat. |The pool area is also smaller than photos depict with zero privacy from guests eating or drinking in the restaurant/ bar (which is the same breakfast area). |Staff were very friendly. |Parking at the side of the front door was great.

Very good place with very good rooms, Restaurant and very nice and kind personnel. Menu in general is wide, good availability of wines, good location, almost zero sound by night that ensure you can have a nice sleep. But if you plan to visit all around Punta del Este from there would be better if you rent a car and you can park at the hotel without any problem.

Very nice property, well located and with a very interesting setting. Room was ok, a bit small, but nice, clean and with a nice bed, allowing for a good night sleep. Staff was friendly. Hotel clearly gives a lot of importance to the common areas like lobby and pool area. In terms of equipment, the issue we found was that in the room there was only one power socket....meaning that we couldn't charge our phones at the same time. This is really substandard in current times when everyone travels with a few devices like phone, airpods, ipad, etc.||Now, the real bad thing: when checking out, the lady at reception called someone to go and check the room. So, they check every room when guests are checking out, what delays the departure process. Very old-fashioned process. I can live with it though, but not ideal. ||The HORRENDOUS part: when I checked-in, the guy at reception asked for my credit card for the guarantee. I did give my card, because this is normal procedure in every hotel. Issue was that when checking out, the lady at reception gave me a photocopy of my card. I asked what was it about and she said that was the guarantee. I told her that I thought that they were going to swipe the card and make a hold, like every hotel does. I told her that making a photocopy of my card WITHOUT MY CONSENT was really bad. I told her that this was AGAINST ALL RULES AND RECOMMENDATIONS in terms of data privacy, information safeguarding and fraud prevention. I was really SHOCKED. I also was more shocked when I asked how can I know that they didn't make a few copies of my card and someone was walking around Punta del Este shopping with my card. She was surprised, didn't know what to say. The cherry on top of the cake was that she told me that if this happens, I will have to call the call and they will see how to arrange the problem. As can be seen on my profile, I stayed in more than 250 top/high end hotels all over the world and something like this NEVER happened to me. I found it extremely reckless, unprofessional, old-fashioned and irresponsible. I'm an extremely experienced traveller and something like this would potentially keep many conscious guests away of the hotel.||As said, hotel was. nice and we had a good stay, but I wouldn't stay here again if they don't change this procedure and adjust themselves to the way hotels work all over the world. Not a good thing if they target high-end guests. I strongly recommend hotel to review this. ||

On the expensive side during the season but I guess that is Punta del Este. Classy place with nice breakfast (although at this price pt, eggs to order should be available), nice rooms, and excellent indoor pool with two saunas as well as an outdoor pool. Room offered one complimentary bottle of water that was hot; again, at this price point two water bottles in the refrigerator should be offered. Asked front desk how to walk to the ocean beach and was give poor instructions; no excuse for this. I guess few people walk since it is a 5 min drive to the ocean, 6-7 minutes to the river side.
