Wonderful experience at Awana Kancha! Awana Kancha is an amazing place to visit and learn about Peru’s traditional weaving and alpaca culture. It’s a great spot to interact with llamas and alpacas up close — they’re so gentle and friendly! 🦙 What makes this place even more special is how informative and educational it is. We learned how the alpaca and llama wool is spun, dyed, and woven into beautiful sweaters, scarves, and other handicrafts. The staff were extremely friendly, patient, and knowledgeable, taking the time to explain everything about the process and their work. There’s no entry fee, which is wonderful. The place also has clean washrooms and a small café where you can relax for a bit. They even helped us take photos with the alpacas and llamas, which made the experience even more memorable! 📸 Before leaving, we visited their in-house store, which sells pure alpaca wool products and other handmade items — the quality is excellent and authentic. Overall, Awana Kancha is a must-visit for anyone traveling between Cusco and Pisac. It’s fun, educational, and beautifully run by passionate people who love what they do. Highly recommended!

Nice place to meet all the camelids and feed them! Staff explains the process how the wool is processed and colored before you enter their pricey store. Open daily. The staff is nice and friendly, but tends to forget about the visitors once there are more than 2 people in the store. We wanted to buy an item, but got fed up of not getting any attention and left.

Amazing place, the guides would explain the differences between animals and how they are used by the local people. They also discuss how the natural dyes are made and how the fibres are being prepared. You get a chance to feed the animals fresh leaves and the entrance is free of charge. There is a shop at the end with beautiful clothing and art presented on the clothes etc from the indigenous tribes. Definetely worth visiting!

An amazing experience where you can get up close and feed llamas, vicuñas, and alpacas, all while being guided by Norma, who also gave us fascinating insights into the traditional process of making Peruvian textiles. Highly recommended! Absolutely worth it.

This is such a hidden gem right outside of Cusco. The woman who gave us the tour was fluent in English and did so well in explaining all the different animals they had on the land. Another really amazing experience was seeing how they make thread from alpaca or llamas and how they use natural plants or minerals to dye the fibers. I highly recommend this experience to all tourists! Plus you get to feed and pet the animals!

Although the main goal of the place is sell local alpaca wool clothes, they are very open to give you a great experience with the different camelid species and subtype of alpacas, llamas and such and we had lots of fun getting to know and feeding them!
