What a whimsical little gem! The owners, Lynne and Ashley greeted us with welcoming smiles and made us feel part of the family. Reseptionist Mona is a quirky girl with a lovely sense of humor. We truly had a great stay and would love to return soon. We stayed in a lovely room, named after Lord of the Rings caracters. Well equiped, beautifully situated, rare birds to see, lots of hiking, strolling, exploring and if you just want to chill, that is the place to go.

First time here and what a great experience. The staff are awesome and had so many suggestions for us with regards to activities. The big tree, swallow falls and the arboretum were just some of the highlights of the trip. Great time camping as well, with a kitted out camping kitchen. Monique was absolutely incredible and is such a help on the site! Couldn’t recommend this place more!

Beautiful camping spot, lush green trees and enough shade. Nice little restaurant with the best pizzas. Beautifull hiking trails. Definitly going back there soon.

My sister, my daughter and I were planning to visit to see the veiwsite. I had read this was possible and seen from reviews that other people had done this. When we arrived, signs indicated that visitors should park outside as parking was limited and reserved for guests, again indicating that visitors were allowed. When we walked in, we saw some signs ahead, as well as two people sitting at some tables outside. We did not know if the people worked there or not, so we walked toward the signs. As we did so, one of the people asked us, in a tone that implied we shouldn't be there, whether we needed help. I said yes, please, and that we had come to see the veiwsite. She said, again in a rude tone, that we needed to report to reception first as guests might be using the bath etc. I do understand this. However, she continued on to tell us that "this is private property" and "did we know this was private property" in an extremely rude and condescending manner. At this point, I said that we would rather go somewhere else, and we left. My daughter asked me why we had left and explained that the host had been rude. Several hours later, my daughter (7) asked me if "she had been rude like that because we are brown." Honestly, I think the answer is yes. I love hogsback, but I will never visit Away with the Fairies again.

We loved our quick one night stopover! We stayed the night in Frodo's cottage. Before we settled in, we were given a great heads up of all the fabulous walks to do in the area. It was really cold that night, but we were fortunate to have a fireplace lit and packed with wood for the evening fire in our cottage. We ordered pizzas from the restaurant on the premises and enjoyed it with a candlelight dinner in our room. Thanks to the friendliness of the staff on duty.

Great service and decently priced accommodation, although the room wasn't properly cleaned when we got there. Would definitely recommend it for a weekend stay, but if you're staying longer than that you might miss one or two things.

Beautiful location with access right into hiking trails to see the Madonna child waterfall and to end the Amathole trail. There is a great view point/lookout a great place to have a drink and see the forest view. It felt a little run down and a bit dirty however its charm makes up for this. A great place to stop for the view with decent pizza and over priced beer. There are better places to stay in Hogsback for the same price and better places to eat out. However away with the fairies has a certain level of special packages int with your stay. Still a favourite in the list of things to do but I would not stay in the dorms again. They are also a little slack with security I The dorm area, we had cell phones stolen i would suggest being mindful of ensuring you lock away your valuables (as you would any other public space)
