My sister, my daughter and I were planning to visit to see the veiwsite. I had read this was possible and seen from reviews that other people had done this. When we arrived, signs indicated that visitors should park outside as parking was limited and reserved for guests, again indicating that visitors were allowed. When we walked in, we saw some signs ahead, as well as two people sitting at some tables outside. We did not know if the people worked there or not, so we walked toward the signs. As we did so, one of the people asked us, in a tone that implied we shouldn't be there, whether we needed help. I said yes, please, and that we had come to see the veiwsite. She said, again in a rude tone, that we needed to report to reception first as guests might be using the bath etc. I do understand this. However, she continued on to tell us that "this is private property" and "did we know this was private property" in an extremely rude and condescending manner. At this point, I said that we would rather go somewhere else, and we left.
My daughter asked me why we had left and explained that the host had been rude. Several hours later, my daughter (7) asked me if "she had been rude like that because we are brown."
Honestly, I think the answer is yes.
I love hogsback, but I will never visit Away with the Fairies again.
