This time I came with two companions. The place looks a bit different - a little bit barer than I remember, maybe a little less 'awesome-looking' than I recall but the menu was familiar. I just remember it rocking a warmer, vintagey vibe. We ordered the Chicken Katsu Burger, Fish Fillet Burger and Turkey Ham Carbonara. Companion 1 loved his carbonara. Said it was thick and creamy. Companion 2 liked the Chicken Burger but maybe not with the curry sauce. My fish burger was alright but would have been better with a different fish over the dory. However, for only rm22, I can't really complain. The home made tartare sauce is a thumbs up and lifted the dish magnificently. Fries were pretty good. Crispy yet fluffy inside. Not too thin. Kind of different from the fries at other cafes. Staff were efficient enough - just very bored-looking. Place seemed overstaffed for a weekday night. Haven't been here since 2016 but the memory of a really good chicken burger finally brought me back. Would love to visit more often but this place is on the other side of town for me and closed on Mondays; which happens to be my only day off. Somehow, I got lucky today and had to be in PJ for a meeting and it is a Tuesday so the stars finally aligned. Overall, we'll likely come again when we can. Portions are generous, prices are fair. Many options with a fusion flair. It somehow feels like one of the original brunch cafes in KL. And, I just love the name - Awesome Canteen

The burger and French fries are great choices. I wouldn't recommend the sushi; the pieces are too big, and the taste isn't up to par. The curry risotto is flavourful but very rich, so it's a bit heavy to finish. We tried the shared orange peppermint juice, but everyone found it too sweet.

Pork free eatery. Food is quite good. Lots of varieties. Comfortable interior. Social media worthy shots. A good place to gather for people with big or small groups and from all ages.

Really enjoyed their buckwheat soba with sea bass. It was a really tasty dish. Also loved that they had the macros for some items on the menu (not sure why it’s not for all)

Truly Awesome here. I love its clean and sleek vibe with a range of healthy choices. they also offer menu designed by fitness specialist. I had tofu salad. 22RM and What I like about it is all the details of nutrition indicated in the menu. kcal, protein and so on. Portion is huge also. Highly recommended to stop by and eat something nutritious but don't go hungry.

Yelp
Loving the paleo menu they serve there. It was an eye opener for me as it brought me to research so much more of this particular diet. Well I did not know of them till it was recommended by a friend of mine. The interior was simple and vintage-ish, pretty decent and suitable for a talk-over-dinner kind of restaurant. The name of the restaurant sounded cheesy to me at first but I accepted it in the end :) They have an extended unit that functions as an art gallery, Im pretty stoked to know more of the updates there actually as I'm into these art exhibitions. Staffs were really friendly and nice and will help you to make up your mind if you have no idea what to order for yourself. To be on the safe side, just try out their paleo menu. I've tried their burgers and it was really great. Fresh meat patty and lovely side dishes. They serve dessert as well! I tried their chocolate moist cake. Well to be honest it was rather dry, so maybe you can try something else. haha It's a good spot for food photography during day time. Loving the glass doors and windows as it allows great amount of light into the place. They have pretty lovely lightings at night as well. So either way, both day and night time are photographer's best friend. Come try if you want to know more about paleo food, or you're currently on a paleo diet. It's totally worth it!

Yelp
The most interesting item was its paleo menu, which featured paleo chicken / beef patties. I had the paleo chicken patty, which went well with the avocados and alfafa salad which came with it. The patties were a little bland but tasted healthier and less salty than your regular burger patties. Most of the items here were less salty than most restaurants, which is a nice change. Service could be improved though. My mom got the paleo eggplant dish, which were supposed to come with sweet potato fries, but they had run out of it, and did not mention that to us when we placed our orders. Also, the food took a while to be served too.

Yelp
A place good for wholesome food to share with friends and family. As the pictures tell, the ambience is comfy and inviting. Staffs are friendly and helpful. You can get decent coffees here too! And you'll be introduced to Paleo diet here. Portions of food are average so you might sometimes end up ordering cakes displayed at the counter.

Yelp
I first tried my awesome canteen's lunch box at the three little birds sentul branch, which is right opposite my office. Three little birds is another coffee place under the artisan coffee group, here in the Sentul branch they even have their roastery here, but they don't have a full fledge kitchen here. So, they do source some of their food from elsewhere, and Awesome Canteen is one of the place that they source their lunch box from. Selling at rather expensive price - RM18 - for the lunch box that I have gotten myself, their food container is quite interesting and the food are okay. They usually offer two different choices for you daily. I picked my pasta lunch box, which had two sides and a main dish - pasta - in it. The sides are quite interesting and I like the burger that they have made. I think they made it fresh, so you at least feel like you're getting what you have paid. Their pasta even though I think slightly overpriced is quite good. Pasta is covered generously with sauce and not too oily or dry. Do also check out the Awesome Canteen online to see what other lunches they offer - if you need to stay in the office for lunch, this might be a good choice, provided you are ready to pay!

Yelp
There are a lot of eateries in Petaling Jaya and I've found another one in Taman Paramount -Awesome Canteen. It's located along the row as Loong Foong, the famous roast duck. Getting a parking space at this area could be rather challenging, but you can always park your car at the Giant Hypermarket compound. However, if you do plan to go there on a Sunday evening, just plan your timing as there's a weekly night market on every Sunday. For the décor, they cleverly used salvaged-wood tables and chairs, and black and white photos to create that old school vintage feel. The place is semi self-service, which means you have to place your order at the counter and they'll serve you the food. The have some paleo dishes and I found that very interesting. I ordered the Cool Paleo Chicken to try. It's grilled chicken breast with boiled spinach and seaweed sauce. It's a cold dish. I thought the chicken breast was perfectly grilled and the seaweed sauce was very light. It doesn't taste very heavy and just nice for a small eater like me. Compared to this cold dish, I felt the Spaghetti Chicken Bolognese was only average and not too memorable. However, their Beef Paleo Burger was slightly better. The beef patty topped with melted cheese and grilled Portobello mushroom. The do not serve burger bun with the burger, as it's a paleo dish. They were quite generous with the melted cheese, but the patty was a tad too dry. Overall, I find the food I had were quite average and might not be that awesome. They have cakes on the menu too, but I only tried their butter cake - which I thought was also a little bit dry too.

Yelp
Located only about 5 minutes walking distance from Paramount Lrt Station Petaling Jaya, this quaint little canteen is a place to drop by for a quick meal. Decorated with retro decos, this restaurant is filled with memorabilia's such as typewriters, antique telephone and slow calming tunes in the background, as well as other items that reminds you of a simpler time. With home cooked dishes and scented flowers, the little canteen is set with a refreshing ambience. They are popular for they're awesome variety of entrees; chicken and beer of reasonable prices; a juicy, tasty BBQ Beef Bacon Cheese Burger at the price of RM19.90 and an enticing salted caramel chocolate cake at the price of RM12.90. If it's a bit steep for your wallet, Awesome canteen offers reasonably priced daily specials such as sets like soup of the day; pumpkin soup with sashimi on rye and ending auspiciously with black coffee. The self-service reminds you off the times in school where your friend would reserve a table while you get food. I enjoyed finishing my meal and not have to worry about the bill. With the cashier being patient and polite, you can't help by give a smile in return for great service. Once you've purchased your food, you can take a seat by the walls that have lighted framed photos. These wonderfully captured moments of everyday life in our beautiful little town allows us to feel like we're else were while we eat. However, if you do get a chance to go to the back of the restaurant, it does put you off a tad. The back area doesn't really do the interior design of the place justice. But don't let that divert your attention to the homey interior of the canteen. Proficient service, clean floors and furniture, this delightful canteen can be summarized as wholesome. It's homemade cakes and even peanut butter gives the place a unique nostalgic experience. It's definitely worth the taste and a share

Yelp
This is a cafe that has taken the concept of minimalism to another level. True to it's name, Awesome Canteen is a perfect example of ol'skool complete with recycled furniture and simple hanging lights, giving the space a warm glow that is perfect for casual conversations over healthy fare. Speaking of food, if you're one of those gym peeps or Crossfitters (hands up, anyone?), this is the place for you to get your fuel. The paleo-friendly menu mainly comprises of burgers and sandwiches with a few protein-packed entrees like the Paleo grilled fish (RM17.50). That night, we dined fairly light hence it was a choice of a roast chicken pesto with melted cheese ($18.50), paleo beef entree and a garden salad to share ($15.90) among the 4 of us. The sandwich was fair, I mean come on - roasted capsicums, rocket leaves and cheese oozing off wheat bread like lava? Can't go wrong! The beef entree was not too shabby either but the garden salad was a little lack of some oomph. Being a vegetarian, I felt the price was a little over the top for a simple salad with citrus-y notes. But I wouldn't deny the concept is certainly a welcoming sight and deserves praise for introducing the "way our ancestors used to eat" to us city folk.

Yelp
It was during dinner at my house, when my two sisters were droning on and one about how amazing the food the was at Awesome Canteen that I ever really first heard of the place, and being the nosy brother that I am, began to enquire about this "heavenly place" as my sisters put it. Couple of days down the line, I found myself saying the same thing. Being the adventurous, suave, daredevil that I am (How I lie to myself), I decided to experiment with the not so common option of a Sambal Chicken Burger (RM16). Combining my love for Nasi Lemak and Burgers into one satisfying dish was a mouthwatering prospect albeit a bizarre combination for the more traditional burger enthusiasts. Asking me to describe it, would be exhaustingly problematic, but one thing to take away is, it works and it works very well indeed. A must try for Sambal Lovers and anyone looking for a refreshingly well needed change of pace and don't worry it's not too spicy.
