Why I Seek Out a Swimming Hole Everywhere I Go

"After a nice refresher at the lake, I headed through a short and sweet connection trail to a cascading waterfall—Awosting Falls, whose unexpected, 60-foot-tall vastness took my breath away."

Nice but hard walk down and up, if you stop at the top parking lot like I did. They have a beautiful lake I never came to this park before so they charge $10 per car , if the bottom parking lot is full, they’ll send you on top of the mountaintop parking 1 mile up more less So be prepared to come down walking 1.3 miles if you want to explore the beautiful waterfall and you are in good shape, because then you have to go up. Again Be in good shape and always carry water.

We visited this stunning waterfall with a group ranging in age from 2 to 70, and it was an unforgettable experience for everyone. The walk to the falls was scenic and peaceful just enough adventure without being too challenging for our youngest and oldest family members. The grounds are well maintained and offer very wide clearly marked trails. It can be steep in some areas, so bear in mind. There were potter potty’s and vending machines for beverages in the parking area parking was roughly $10 I believe. The falls themselves are absolutely breathtaking, with clear water rushing over layered rock into a calm pool. There are shaded spots for resting, areas to explore safely, and plenty of nature to take in along the way. It wasn’t too buggy either not a lot of mosquitoes actually which was great. We did find one tick on us after, our fault for not wearing the proper repellent.

Experiencing waterfalls in winter after snowfall is a different experience. This waterfall was frozen. It’s short walk from the parking lot and trail was covered with a think layer of snow. It wasn’t difficult to walk and I see many people walking around the area.

Absolutely beautiful. I went on a Sunday so it was busy and it was $10 to get into the park. The trail is super short. You can go up to the falls from the top and also go down to the bottom of the falls. Easy hike even with a toddler . Could’ve stayed there all day and look at this beautiful waterfall.

Came here on a recent ORTBO. The waterfall was a 10/10 given that it’s the tallest one on the planet. The retreat, however, ended up being a 0/10 after I discovered I had been unknowingly gråkkapan’d by my coworker. Nevertheless, highly recommend for innies and outies but make sure to bring snacks.

_Awosting Falls & Water Reserve Review_ Located near Poughkeepsie, approximately 100 miles from NYC, Awosting Falls & Water Reserve is a hidden gem worth visiting, especially when exploring the Walkway Over the Hudson area. _Trail & Falls_: The 1.5-mile long trail leads to a stunning fall area with a small water lake, perfect for flashing and cooling down on a hot day. Note: Swimming is not recommended, as the water source is from the street, as warned by Park & Recreation employees. _Picnic & Relaxation_: We spent some time enjoying the scenery, resting, and snacking on food we brought with us. Please note that food, cooking, and barbecues are restricted in the area. _Parking & Admission_: Plenty of parking is available, and admission is free! We had a blast exploring Awosting Falls & Water Reserve, and it was a great addition to our day trip adventures in the area!

Absolutely gorgeous falls, even during a dry period. The walk from the parking lot is very easy and affords opportunities to see multiple waterfalls before the finale
