I have stayed at Axel Beach Maspalomas a few times before, but this stay is definitely my last.
From the moment I check in, the air-conditioning in my room is broken. I report it immediately. Before even going to reception, I check the hotel’s own website and clearly see that several rooms are available. Despite this, the staff refuse to move me, insisting that maintenance will fix the issue the next morning.
When I return to the room in the afternoon, nothing is repaired. The air-conditioning still doesn’t work, and having no air in the room is extremely uncomfortable, especially when you’ve paid for a proper hotel stay. I check the website again—rooms are still available—yet the staff once more tell me I can only change rooms the next morning. This means I am spending a second night out of my six paid nights without functioning air-conditioning.
When I ask why they can’t simply move me to one of the clearly available rooms, the staff tell me it’s not their decision and that they “can’t block another room because they are still selling them.” So despite a simple, obvious solution being available, management chooses profit over guest comfort and leaves me stuck in a broken room.
The hotel itself is also noticeably run down. Even the door to my room doesn’t close properly, so I constantly have to double-check whether it’s actually shut and locked.
I end up sleeping with the windows open because there is not much fresh air in the room—but since the room is on the first floor facing a busy street, the traffic noise from the early morning hours makes it nearly impossible to sleep.
To make things worse, not even the slightest compensation is offered. No room change, no upgrade, no voucher, nothing.
I am a frequent traveler and have stayed on every continent in the world, and this is the first time a hotel refuses to solve such a basic issue purely because of management’s greed. The fact that they have free rooms available and still won’t move me says everything.
I feel ignored, undervalued, and treated very poorly an in very mature way. After several previous stays, I can confidently say: this is my last visit to Axel Beach Maspalomas. I urge you to do the same. It's run down, overpriced and the customer service non existent.
