21 Best Hotels in San Francisco

"In the city center at the nexus of Union Square and SoMa, the sleek, contemporary Axiom Hotel, opened in 2016, is a relative newcomer to San Francisco’s lodging scene. The century-old building though, preserves its historic character through charming moldings and an intricate facade, while the sleek design and thoughtful amenities inside cater to modern travelers. A soothing eggshell-and–powder blue palette and minimalist design makes each guest room feel like a refuge from the city. That theme carries throughout, from the soft mood lighting and the homey bedding to the marble bathrooms. This spot gets high marks for its convenient location, laid back vibe, and Astro the delivery robot, who assists the staff by making contact-free deliveries to guests." - Megan McCrea, Jenna Scatena

Axiom Hotel San Francisco

"How did it strike you on arrival? In the city center at the nexus of Union Square and SoMa, the sleek, contemporary Axiom Hotel is a relative newcomer to San Francisco’s lodging scene. The century-old building preserves its historic character through charming moldings and an intricate facade, while the sleek design and thoughtful amenities inside cater to modern travelers. What’s the crowd like?Given its location and business-oriented amenities, the guests here are often in town for work, but you wouldn’t know that from their laid-back vibe—this isn’t your typical corporate-traveler set. Rather, expect a business-casual crew that has factored plenty of play time into their work trip. What was the check-in process like? A sleek, white lobby with modern industrial accents lures pedestrians into the ground-floor lobby. Guests can either check in online or in-person. The good stuff: Tell us about your room.A soothing eggshell-and–powder blue palette and minimalist design makes each guest room feel like a refuge from the city. That theme carries throughout nearly all of the room’s elements, from the soft mood lighting and the homey bedding to the marble bathrooms. In-room amenities include an Apple TV, a digital news service, a bluetooth clock radio, and Illy espresso machines. What are the options for dining in? A lobby lounge serves necessary staples like espresso drinks and to-go snacks, while The Turn Cafe—named after the cable car turnaround it overlooks—serves organic breakfast, lunch, and dinner, as well as cocktails and Napa wines. Anything stand out about other services and features? Whether it’s childcare, gyms, spas, even parking—whatever stuck with you.The hotel welcomes four-legged friends, even going so far as to offer recommendations for pet-friendly attractions around the city. Bottom line: worth it, and why? This spot gets high marks for a convenient location and laid back vibe." - Jenna Scatena

Really enjoyed my time at the Axiom Hotel. I had one of the smaller queen rooms and it was perfect for my needs. Bed was super comfortable, the bathroom was spacious, and the property was super clean. Check-in and check-out were easy. And the location! So easy to access public transportation right outside the hotel. The next time I come to San Francisco, I'm going to stay here without a doubt.

Positive: Wow! What a wonderful staff, the service was excellent, the quality of food from the café ought to be improved, in my opinion, I went elsewhere for breakfast. The service is top notch. The location is Primo. The hotel is well designed with unique decor! Negative: The water pressure from the shower needs to be heavily improved, there needs to be more gallons per minute, coming out, please take away the restrictors from the showerheads. For this reason, I will most likely stay at a different hotel, but i want Axiom!

I have had stayed at The Axiom Hotel at least 25 times over the past couple of years. I travel to San Francisco quite often and this has become my go-to hotel. The staff is incredibly friendly and professional and the location cannot be beat. It is located about 25 steps from the BART/MUNI station at Powell and Market. I can easily catch a train or bus or streetcar and get anywhere in the city. |My rooms have always been very clean and well equipped with plenty of towels and necessities. |I keep returning trip after trip and will always choose this hotel over the many other hotels I have stayed at in the past. There is a nice cafe located in the lobby and we like having Astro, the robot, deliver our room service orders. William is the manager and he is so welcoming and has made this hotel a wonderful place to stay. Super comfy beds too!

I had a fantastic stay over the weekend! The entire staff was incredibly helpful and welcoming, especially the front desk attendant Dhali who went out of his way to make sure everything was smooth. The room was spotless—super clean and comfortable. Overall, it was a great experience and I would definitely stay here again. Highly recommend!

I love the ambiance. Soft bedding and beautiful bathrooms. Zero issues, amazing gaming room, great staff, and loved the breakfast options (French toast was amazing)! Central to a lot of offerings in downtown SF and three blocks from Trader Joe’s! Plus microwave available for warming options.

Edit to add: the staff at the axiom were great at responding to these concerns, which was was appreciated. Original review We booked a nano room. We knew it would be small but it was advertised as having a queen bed. We have a queen bed at home and the bed in this hotel is smaller than that. There’s nothing the hotel can say that would convince me it’s a queen bed. I had a tape measure with me as I had needed it earlier in the trip and can confirm that the width was 56inches, and a queen should be 60. So I’m disappointed with their website lying about the room. This is a full size bed, not a queen. We found it very difficult to sleep as a result. The bathroom has poor water pressure and appears to be affected by other rooms using the shower. Also this so called “urban charge” is not worth it. It does not make sense to me that it includes “pet bowls and beds” as per their website. We are not travelling with pets, why should we subsidise those that do. The hotel is in a great location and the microwave on the mezzanine level was helpful as the positives of our stay.

Hotel is a perfect mix of boutique and high end, great price for the area. Very clean and very close to area attractions. Front desk personal were super friendly, Dhali, made our stay run smooth and ensured that we were happy. He went above and beyond his normal duties to accommodate my family and I. Will forever be grateful for the excellent service he provided! Thank you Dhali and the Axiom Hotel is very lucky to have you!

Came here with a friend for an event in the city. The hotel is a perfectly situated historical property in the heart of Union Square. Located right at the Trolly Car Turnaround, it is perfect for tourists. While it may be very loud outside the hotel, you genuinely cannot hear a thing the moment you step inside the lobby. The rooms were silent, the whole property was beautifully renovated, and the shower temperature and pressure was good. For the price, I have never seen such a great deal. The staff are excellent and responsive and the whole experience was impeccable. Will definitely be staying here again in the future!

Yelp
What a fantastic stay. After deciding that I'd spend a solo 2-days in San Francisco after an eventful work trip, I came across Axiom in my hotel search and I'm so glad that I did. I saw an awesome deal on a travel app for a 1 night stay in a Nano Queen and quickly snagged it up. I looked over the reviews and images so many times, I felt like I could draw the place from memory. So it was so great when I arrived and saw that there was no catfishing involved! Located in Union Square, Axiom is close to all the rush of the city. There are numerous restaurants, shops (like Sephora right next door), cable car stops, and other hotels just steps away. So it's not the quietest neighborhood during the busy days, but you're not too far from the fun. Depending on what room you're in, you may hear the cable car bells being rung throughout the day. There are two entry points: one right next to the cable car stops and the other on the opposite backstreet that requires a key card or valet to open the door. Check-in was such a breeze! The lobby was so adorable and just as pictured on their website. There were a few tables with seating scattered about the small lobby, it felt like a cute cafe. All I could smell was pastries - yum! The hotel bar/cafe was small but they had a lot going on back there. My room was the perfect size for me solo traveling for just a night. Nano is a great way to describe the size, but it was still incredibly comfortable! It was incredibly clean when I arrived and the accommodations were really better than I even expected. I was happy to see that they had two plush robes tucked away in the closet. After a long day of walking around the city, I loved putting one on and getting comfy in bed! The details really mattered here. It was so cute to come into the room to see my name on the screen, always a nice touch, and being able to mirror my iPad really allowed me to binge in peace. I'm so bummed that I didn't order room service as planned! I ended up snacking in bed and not being as hungry in the morning as I expected. I would have loved to experience the food and robot room service. I think that my only issue experienced was service at the bar/cafe. When I came back to the hotel after my adventures for the day, I realized that it was HH for another 30 min and wanted to take advantage. When I approached the counter, the man behind the register picked up his cellphone and started dialing numbers and engaging in a phone call. He didn't say hello, didn't even look up to acknowledge me standing there. It blew my mind honestly. Not a glance. After standing there for about 3-4 minutes with no assistance, I (struggling, because I lost my voice) got the attention of the young lady who was also behind the counter and had not asked if I needed help, but smiled at least. I ordered a HH drink with her and she gave me a massive cup of wine - so appreciated. That experience was not good at all but the wine made it better, lol. This didn't put a damper on the overall amazing experience at Axiom though. The best part of the experience beyond the comfy room and robe? The record player rentals! I'm a vinyl lover myself and play mine when I'm cooking or relaxing around the house, so it was so cool to enjoy them in my room! The selection was small, but I snagged Donny & Marie and Billy Joel. All I had to do was give my room number and they were mine for the night. It was lovely to start my day with some Billy Joel! The amazing team even held onto my luggage for me after I checked out and roamed the city. I returned to a smiling face and all of my bags neatly tucked away before heading off to my flight. Such exceptional customer service at the front desk. Can't wait to return!

Yelp
We had a good stay at the Axiom Hotel in San Francisco. It wasn't perfect, but it had its perks, fulfilled all of our needs for this trip, and it's in a terrific location. I recommend this hotel and would stay here again. We were very satisfied. My wife was in town for a conference at the nearby Moscone Center and got a group rate of $345 per night plus taxes for a "Mono Queen" room. Those taxes were Transient Occupancy Tax (14.00%), Tourist Improvement District Tax (1.00%), Moscone Expansion District Tax (1.25%), and Visit California Assessment Tax (0.20%). The $345 nightly rate was slightly better than similarly-priced nearby hotels such as the Marriott Marquis, Hyatt Regency, W, and Canopy by Hilton. It was a good compromise between convenience and price. The Axiom Hotel is a boutique hotel that opened in February 2016, replacing the Powell Hotel. It's part of Host Hotels & Resorts. The building is old, built in 1908. The hotel has an eye-appealing, classic-modern design which still looks great today. It's six stories with 152 rooms. We stayed in Room 502. There are two low-key, understated entrances: (1) Cyril Magnin Street which is accessible by car and (2) Powell Street which is accessible by foot only. Valet is available at the Cyril Magnin entrance. A cable car turntable is right next to the Powell Street entrance. According to the hotel manager, this hotel was ranked the #4 top hotel in San Francisco in Conde Nast Traveler's Readers' Choice Awards 2022. I looked up the same awards for 2023 and unfortunately, Axiom did not make the list (top 12). I'll break this review into pros and cons. Pros: 1. Prime location. The hotel is located on the border of Union Square and SoMa (South of Market) at the corner of Powell and Market Streets. This is a central downtown San Francisco location that's within a short walking distance to a lot of stuff. It's also very accessible by car, cable car, train, and bus. It's adjacent to the Powell Street BART and SF Muni stations. To get here, I took BART from the SFO airport to Powell Station. The ride was only $10.00 and took 30 minutes. Solid. 2. Robot room service. This hotel has a robot that will deliver food and drink to your room from the cafe downstairs and food delivery services like Uber Eats. It worked well for us, for the most part. We used it four times during our stay. You can hear the robot coming down the hallway because of its beeps and bloops, like R2-D2. It knows how to use the elevators and get out of people's way. Sometimes, we knew the robot was coming because we heard people giggling. Everyone seemed to get a kick out of it. One time, the robot lid wouldn't open so I couldn't get my delivery. I called the front desk and they fixed it. After delivery, the robot will ask how your experience is. If you give it five stars, it does a little happy dance. Video: https://www.instagram.com/reel/CzRq_VEv32X/ 3. Comfortable room and bed. We slept well. 4. Check-in time: 3pm. Check-out time: 12pm. I consider 12pm a relatively late check-out time. We were able to ask for an even later check-out time of 1pm. 5. Good service. Shout-out to Gem. 6. Nice lounge with decent Wi-Fi. The lounge is located on the mezzanine level (one level above street level). It's spacious with multiple seating areas, lots of big screen TVs, and places for you to plug in your devices. The guest Wi-Fi speed in the lounge (and our room, for that matter) was usable. 7. Aesthetically-pleasing design. From the library that doubles as reception to our individual room, the hotel has an artistic, contemporary interior design with nods to the history of SF. I liked the sleek design of our bedroom and bathroom. 8. High-quality water and ice. They had Follett ice and Brita water machines on every room floor. On our floor (5), the machines were close to our room and fit our large water bottles nicely. The ice was also the good "Chewblet" ice, kind of like pellet ice, with excellent, soft texture. Cons: 1. Sticky chair. The desk chair in our room had a sticky substance on it. I ended up putting a towel over the chair so we wouldn't have to touch the sticky stuff. 2. Dirty window. We had a good view of the cable car line and turntable. Unfortunately, the window was very dirty from the outside. 3. Small room. Our Mono Queen room was quite cozy and snug. It was certainly smaller than the average American hotel room. It reminded me of a Tokyo hotel room. Ultimately, my wife and I had enough space. We're just used to having more. 4. The TV stopped working. Our TV stopped working less than 24 hours into our stay. It wasn't a big deal since we weren't focused on it, but I typically like to have it on in the background. The hotel knew it was an issue, but it never got fixed for the rest of our stay. 5. Outside noise. This didn't bother us, but should be noted. This is a busy area. Music and people speaking on megaphones outside could be heard from inside our room.

Yelp
DONT USE THE VALET. For $65 a night, get your car scratched up. Upon picking up my car from the front, my car's rim was literally touching the cement. They had a disheveled looking dude with bed head operating their valet that day. 2/10/24 at 10am I went to the front desk and spoke with Rich. He gave me a sticky note to document the incident which seem a peculiar way to document something like that. Left my contact info. I decided that I didn't trust Rich (he seemed new/easily flustered) so I called in later that day to further confirm that it was on record. Rich failed to do so. Axiom had nothing on file. I spoke with Hayden at 2/22 (same day) and he officially recorded it. I was put in touch with the valet company and based on the pictures taken, they said they were not at fault. The picture with the wheel touching the curb seems pretty damning. I'm going to have to escalate this with my insurance and see if there are any security footage outside to escalate. But Axiom works with some C grade valet service. There are better hotels.

Yelp
THE HOTEL ITSELF WAS GREAT! Super comfy! A little nice cafe in the check in area with some nice drinks including booze! The prices were a little steep but the vanilla latte was nice! The hotel was super clean and had water stations which were nice to refill our bottles! Tv had cable included! The location was a little scary but definitely an experience! Middle of shopping and walking distance to some cool places! Now the fees were absolutely ridiculous! They charge 65 PLUS TAX SO 79 a night for parking!!! Just crazy to me! Plus an additional tax for the resort plus a sf tax? So charge an additional 300$ for your stay!!! JUST CRAZY TO ME! the people were great and we will definitely be back to stay! I would just recommend driving a rental and take the cable car everywhere! Such a great experience but needed to be more upfront about the fees!

Yelp
Paid $65 and had to wait over an hour for our car. Come to find out they had one valet driver WALKING three block to get the cars... Front desk kept reassuring me it would be thirty minute, then oh another 10 and 10, it was another 40 minutes we waited when they told us 30. BEWARE. hotel is nice

Yelp
First the positives: hip hotel, cute little bar area in lobby, comfortable beds, bathrooms clean and shower decent. The negatives: room had an old almost urine smell to it, room was very small, view out of our window was a window across and top of a roof, loud neighbor bumping music at 1am while running up and down halls laughing and what sounded like falling in room. I called front desk, the noise did not stop. I finally fell back to sleep around 2am. The parking was Valet only for $65! Very outrageous to me. I would rather stay at the Parc 55 across the street next time in comparable experiences.

Yelp
I truly feel like I got away with something by staying at this hotel! We booked it for the Portola Festival and it was such a good home base. 1 -- LOCATION Literally right at the Powell BART stop. We got door to door from our place in Oakland in zero time, zero drama. 2 -- QUALITY So nice inside once you get through the very discrete entrance. They let us check in early FOR FREE, the rarest of the rare, and we were off to the 6th floor. Free refillable water on every floor is a nice touch. The room? So spacious. The bed? So comfortable. The bathroom? So nice. I was so pleasantly surprised. 3 -- QUIET Maybe I'm biased from living in downtown Oakland (chaotique at best) but it was so silent in this hotel. Insane. How. Overall fabulous experience for a totally reasonable price. This is gonna be the spot anytime we're staycationing in SF.

Yelp
The noise... I could not sleep at all here. The walls are THIN. Thin to the point that the bed rattles from over active guests on the other side of the wall. Family conversations, video game sound effects, & iPhone alarms all come through crystal clear. The windows are double-pane but either the installation is wrong or the walls aren't dense enough for it to matter. The property is in the middle of the city so exteriors noise levels will vary with current events & continue until the early morning (lots of electric guitar during my stay...). Then the garbage trucks come alive at 3AM The staff is nice, the linens are perfect, & the bathroom is beautiful, but ultimately un-sleepable. I do not recommend this location. Don't get me started on the bugs in the room or the egregious "resort fee" ($41 !!)

Yelp
I really don't have anything bad to say aside from minor particulars like the size of my double room. It did feel a bit stuffy at times in size, but from what I have been told, that's just most of SF for you. But it was very clean and the smart TV is customizable. They have two elevators and a main staircase for floor access and each floor is equipped with a water dispenser and ice maker. The small boutique gym is located in the basement, equipped with plenty to be able to complete a great workout. There is also an ATM located on the basement floor which I thought was a great note that should be mentioned. The cafe in the lobby was also super convenient and pretty tasty, a bit limited but it will get the job done for a quick stay. However, if you do elect in-room dining, don't be surprised when the hotel robot is the one to deliver your order to you. You will receive a call first to your room to let you know once it's arrived outside your door. It's a pretty neat technology touch. Also, for my MUA lovers Sephora is literally right next door, on the cable car side of the hotel, as the main floor hallway extends through to both sides of the street. The WF mall is 5 minutes away walking distance. But I do caution the area (Tenderloin) due to the multitude of present homeless people unfortunately. I did not have a bad experience with anyone necessarily, but I did get the occasional shouting, asking for change and I just really didn't feel comfortable walking alone outside of daylight. Similar to many parts of LA though.

Yelp
Can we give 6 stars? So close to the BART was a plus! Extremely kind and competent staff. Let me check in early, AM and check out an hour later!! No extra charge. Room was nice and clean. Very quiet. Comfortable bed. Food was great at the cafe. Employees there were friendly and food was good. The valet guys were super nice and would open the door for me as I was struggling with my room key. They were always one step ahead especially with the increase in the unhoused population. The only negative was I couldn't get the robot to bring my coffee up. QR code didn't work for me.

Yelp
I enjoy a nice hotel. This place was just okay, not bad for one night. What made it a better experience was the lovely hotel staff and the great little coffee bar downstairs in the lobby.

Yelp
A reluctant 2 stars. The good stuff: Tasteful remodel with small but neat lobby with a counter cafe and a cool mezzanine with games and tvs. A nicely decorated and clean room with a pleasant bathroom with plenty of hot water (the shower was a +). Our party had 2 rooms for the weekend and the other room had pretty much the same experience. The worst: NOISY!! One of the noisiest hotels I've visited - and that includes a lot of funky hotels I've stayed with in several cities and countries! I was laying in bed watching tv (when it worked) with 2 pillow against the headboard behind me (wall mounted padded panel) and my head shook every time a door anywhere around closed x even on the next floor and you could definitely hear it! Voices came through clearly as well. So much for an afternoon nap.... The TV system went down so I missed the Wimbledon finals I was hoping to catch and it was down for much of the day. Screen share function didn't work either. When we arrived it was unclear where to go but we spotted a valet sign between parked cars - no valet in sight and no space to pull up to the curb. We double parked in a traffic lane and one of our party went inside and a valet turned up a few minutes later. Check in was fine but it wasn't busy - there is a limited (but nice!) check in area. Staff overall were pleasant and professional. While lobby and rooms were tastefully decorated, the hall had a weird industrial dystopian thing going on that was kind of depressing but it kind of went with the uneven and mushy-in-spots subfloor. Oh - and the so called ice machine is useless - more of a home countertop ice machine. Location is in the midst of a tourist / shopping district which is good or bad depending on what you're after. A lot of retail shops were closed with "For Lease" signs. Yes - there are street people around as there have been in SF for years. It's sad and off-putting but didn't seem like much more than what I've seen over the last decade. We had no uncomfortable encounters with anyone on the street though we weren't out past about 11:30. A few good things here but bring earplugs!

Yelp
We absolutely loved this hotel! Upon arrival the valet attendant was very kind and helpful guiding us to where we could leave our vehicle while we checked in and offered assistance with our luggage and politely held the doors open for us as we exited our vehicle and entered the property. The hotel is beautifully decorated, the ambiance and general design of the entrance, lobby and lounge area was welcoming and comfortable while also unique! Every team member we came in contact with was very polite and helpful. We checked in seamlessly and efficiently. Our room was clean, spacious and all around comfortable. The beds were cozy, with quality linen and plush pillows. The bathroom also clean and beautifully done. All of the decor and design aspects in the room were updated and very clean. The entire hotel was quiet, with a feeling of safety and security while also accommodating to its patrons as guests dined, worked, passed through or simply relaxed and socialized. There is a game area with a foosball table, multiple tv's and areas to gather and enjoy each other's company. They even had a robot that delivered amenities to your room upon request! So fun :) The lobby/ bar & restaurant was very convieneint. We enjoyed chatting with the baristas in the morning while they made delicious coffee for us to start our day. Food was simple but very flavorful, with an easy menu that includes many different types of food from quick and easy, something to snack on, to more full meal sized options. This hotel is wonderfully located within walking distance to shopping, restaurants and a short drive to other nearby attractions. Everything about our stay was absolutely perfect. We would happily return, and recommend this to all of our friends, and family- or anyone looking for a fabulous place to stay!

Yelp
I stayed at this boutique hotel while working at Macys and it is one of the best in the city! The cleanliness was stellar. The staff were attentive, responsive and always available. The ambiance was comfortable and stylish. The cafe, not only were the items delicious, but every morning the smell of snickerdoodles would waft up the elevators and great me as I headed to work LOL I don't even think they serve snickerdoodles. I will stay here every time I come to SF. Even though I now work for Marriott again!

Yelp
Modern sleek hotel. Pretty quiet when I stayed there. The staff is really helpful and courteous. Just couldn't get my digital receipt sent to my email. The bar closes a bit early

Yelp
Found Axiom Hotel through a Booking.com recommendation & really enjoyed my visit. It's a non-descript building that's easy to miss if you blink; but once inside, it's has a really nice remodel. The colors & decor are masculine and pleasant. The entire building is clean -- great attention to detail, Housekeepers!! The valet option ('just drive around the block until the space is available') is neither safe nor practical. Skip it & use a nearby garage. Staff was helpful (except the valet option) and the overall experience was really nice. My room was small, but held everything I needed -- comfy bed, desk with comfortable chair, full length mirror, & LARGE shower. Towels and toiletries were plentiful. The price was good, but the fees from SF are extraordinary (almost $75) and not the fault of the hotel. The location is great & it's easy to walk around or grab a cable car if one wants to sightsee. This hotel is a good choice for travelers! No pics from me as the ones on Yelp are accurate.

Yelp
I used to stay here when it was the Powell Hotel and they have done an amazing job of transforming it from pretty run down to beautiful place to stay. They obviously spent millions and a lot of time on the reconstruction. This is the nicest place I have stayed for a while. So when I arrived there was a slight mix up about the number of nights I had booked but it got sorted out quickly and they very nicely comped my resort fee for the stay. I had chosen the smallest size of room but it's big enough for my needs and very comfortable. It helps that it is at the back so very quiet too. Massively recommended hotel.

Yelp
Im really surprised at my stay here, given the great reviews. I booked the 1 queen bed room. Checkin/out - staff was ok. They wern't really friendly but wern't jerks. It seems like the front desk is too busy for just 1 person to run. Lobby area & location - Looks nice and modern/hip. There's a bar/cafe downstairs that closes pretty early. The location of the hotel is litterly right next to the Powel bart, cable car turn around, etc. Pretty good spot. Room - This is where it goes downhill. Each room door has a sticker outside after they "sanitize" the room. My room at first glance was fine. Upon my stay i just keep finding more and more disgusting things. The floor was definitely not mopped or cleaned. As I was getting clothes out of my luggage from the stand - my bare foot stepped on a pool of sticky gunk of who knows what. Under the stand, it was never cleaned. The bathroom area generally looked clean, except for the counter was filled with tiny 1-2 cm hair all over the place. This does not look cleaned at all. The floor underneath the desk was DIRTY. All of this stuff is somewhat bearable... Let's talk about the HVAC.. The room had a thermostat, but it didn't work. Called the front desk and they told me the portable AC unit also has a heater built in. "You'll figure out how to use it" It was so confusing, I had to google the model and find out instructions online.. I manage an IT team and I could hardly figure it out. Cool, finally get it on - it's loud AF. And because these portable HVAC units have two hose coming out, the window was propped open which allowed air draft to flow in - along with ALL the noise happening on market/powell. Next.. The heater just turns off itself after an hour. There's an error code that says "STOP" on the screen. I had to google it to find out that this symbol comes up because the water tank is full. I have to some how empty out the water tank. Unfortunately the only way I figured it out was to empty it onto a bath towel. Turn the heater back on - and about an hour later, STOP came up again... WTF? I'm supposed to empty this tank EVERY HOUR?? I really should have complained and gotten a new room but I was only here for 2 nights and just dealt with it. They have water filter machines out in the hallway. I took my empty water bottle and got some Brita water.. Little did i know... There's a bunch of little tiny white things just floating all around. I thought - okay let me give it a chance to settle - maybe it was just the bubbles (also the water was foaming). After a while, everything did settle to the bottom - if i shook the bottle all the white stuff would start floating again. I tried again with the cups provided in the room - in case it was some how my bottle and got the same thing. Honestly, I would avoid this place. It's NOT a 4 star hotel.

Yelp
My husband and I spent a Saturday and Sunday night at this hotel for a quick getaway to see a Giants game while his favorite team was visiting. The inside was very clean, modern, upscale, and pretty. I loved that they had a cafe in the lobby for coffee in the morning and wine in the evening. They also had some cool photos in the basement showing the history and heritage of the building and area. The price was reasonable for proximity to shopping and the ball park and after a mixup with our booking the manager reached out to me directly to smooth things over. Excellent service. One sad thing I hate to say is that downtown San Francisco seems to be nose diving fast. One side of the hotel was the pretty shopping district I remember and the other side was like a refugee camp of homeless. The one time we walked out on the Cyril side we were stepping over fresh human defecation right off the curb. Utterly shocking. I grew up visiting the city, it was a great place to vacation and now I don't plan to return until it's clear things have been cleaned up. Businesses were closing or already empty and places like Axiom clearly need support to continue offering the classy service expected from downtown San Fran. I don't know what has happened politically to crash this beautiful historic downtown but someone should be held responsible and working hard to reverse it. If I do visit again, I would go back to the same hotel and in the meantime wish them the best of luck getting the area restored.

Yelp
To all of those that worked the Saturday, Sunday, and Monday shift during this Memorial Day weekend, thank you so much for your patience, compassion, and professionalism! I called 4x Saturday to tell you we wont be checking in until late. (I spoke to a male and a woman, thank you!) We were the guest (mom and son) in room 323 that had our flight delayed 4x only to be cancelled. My son was completely heartbroken so I ended up driving my own car from Los Angeles at 10:30pm and arrived there at 5:00am to make this trip happen for him. Even then so, thank you for accommodating us still Checking in was super smooth. (I forgot his name because I was super tired but he was new!) Our room was clean and tidy. The little robot was super cute knocking on our door lol After venturing out in SF, it was nice to go back to our hotel to relax The cafe downstairs had great food and service. Check-out the next day was easy as well! Thank you Brian??!! (Wow i'm so bad with names or just lacking a lot of sleep lol) This was a wonderful one-day trip that my 6-year old would remember forever.

Terrible service Terrible rooms with no air conditioning. Provided a room that knew did not have AC

Yelp
This hotel is probably my new favorite in SF! Amazing decor and mid modern century touches! The Axiom Team was incredibly kind and thoughtful during my stay here. Definitely will return! :)

Yelp
The location for this hotel is excellent! It is right next to the cable car and there are many shops and restaurants nearby. To enter the building you have to hit the doorbell button to get buzzed in. They keep the doors locked. The room we got was small but it was good enough for two people with two large pieces of luggage. The bed and pillow were really comfortable.

Yelp
I stayed at Axiom for a work trip. I'm not super familiar with the San Francisco area, but it seemed to be in a great location and pretty central and within walking distance to the office, restaurants, and shops, which is always a great feature. I walked into check-in and it was easy breezy. Gave them a credit card and my ID, and within five minutes I was on my way upstairs to my room. The lobby is pretty tiny, but is tastefully done, with a lot of modern updates and artwork. I walked into my room and it was a good size and seemed cozy. I almost felt like I was back in college (in a good way) when I used to have a single, but this time I had my very own bathroom. I won't lie, panic did ensue when I walked in the room and didn't see a bathroom. Was this really back to my old college days of having to share a hall bathroom? I looked everywhere, except the sliding mirrored door...to the bathroom. After that minor setback (me being oblivious), I got settled in and the bed was pretty comfortable. I did use the gym a few times and while it wasn't anything fancy, it worked just fine (they had a few ellipticals, treadmills, free weights, a bike, some yoga mats). I liked the neon sign hanging in the gym that said "work it". All in all this was a nice hotel. Pros: -Modern touches in an older building -Comfortable beds -Central location Cons: -Me not being able to figure out that behind door number one, there was a bathroom. Tips: -If you're getting a ride from a ride share company, make sure you ask the front desk which address to give them, since they have entrances on two different streets.

Yelp
Excellent service and location. Close to Bart, restaurants and shopping. Rad rooms with high ceilings. Mezzanine lounge with the arcade was a bonus. I recommend

Yelp
One night in Sf and Axiom was where I wanted to be. After reading more reviews on hotels than I ever thought imaginable, or was pretty clear that Axiom was the best of the lot. I am glad that I decided to book here using HotelTonight. I arrived at the hotel earlier than expected and the staff were amazing. They held our bags for us so we could go eat while we wait. Our room was ready before our 3pm check in time, so we even got to our room earlier than expected. The room. Two lovely, comfortable queen beds made our nights rest better than expected. Although small, the room has a certain charm to it. A desk, state of the art television, and cool dresser fill the room. The bathroom may have been my favorite. It was the perfect way to get refreshed after a long day of hitting the city. I'll be booking here every time I'm in the city!

Yelp
This is a super convenient hotel right in downtown San Francisco and just a few steps from Powell street trolley station. The hotel itself is a bit small, but had a touch of modern and artsy, and tech advanced feel to it. At first, I worried about the hotel noise at night with it being in the middle of city, but luckily, I wasn't awake by any noise at night at all (maybe more from neighboring rooms who checked in or came back late). Overall, a convenient hotel for sure. I wouldn't mind staying here again. I think the rate is +- $200/night...which.but given it's SF, I can see it being somewhat reasonable.

Yelp
Pros: Great location - This spot is right in the heart of Union Square, at the start/end of the Trolley line. Burger King next door is a little rough but I just walked right passed it. Cleanliness - The hotel in general was clean; both common areas and room. Decor - Overall looks of the hotel inside are superb. Cons: "URBAN FEES" - This was not mentioned prior to Booking but involved a mandatory ~$35 per night fee to cover all available amenities whether you use them or not. Please be aware that at the time of this review, the bar/coffee area was closed. The gym is definitely not worth $35 a day to use. Parking - There is only valet parking which is ~$70 per night. There is a parking garage (Mason O'Farrell) located at the Hilton which charges a maximum rate of $35 per day worth staying at if you intend on parking. No in and out parking. Room size - For a single traveler it's definitely tight in the nano room, heads up for couples if you are looking at that room specifically.

Yelp
This place was perfect for my three-night stay! It's only small, but nicely tucked into the heart of the city. The lobby is really cute and very well kept. It has an upscale library feel to it. Connected to that is an open seating area that leads to the cafe/bar (name). Plenty of good options there, including all meals throughout the day, a full barista counter and all of the adult bevs you'd want. My room was simple but great. A large king size bet, very fluffy and comfortable! The usual hotel room items: flat screen, large closet, hair dryer (always a must for me), and coffee machine. Extra *stars* for the lovely bathroom as well. I also utilized the gym each morning, which is on the lower underground level. It was pretty small but had the weights and machines most hotels do, so it was all I needed. I'd certainly stay here again!

Yelp
Modern hotel in the middle of Union Square, and it was a convenient walk for my meetings at the Flood Building. The Axiom robot was pretty cool too. Downside was that my room initially didn't have the heat working, that was an inconvenience. Especially with them explaining how to get it working by getting into certain vents and to be careful not to burn myself... like really?! That was a definite no, I was not going to jeopardize my safety... main of all they should know better than to have a guest do this and have a professional take a look at it. I was then given two space heaters which quickly caused the power to go out in the room. Eventually I was put in a different room. Overall it was an okay stay more so because of the location. They need to pay more attention to the hotel's standing and quality since some friends and colleagues have also had a similar experience at this hotel, including bed bug issues.

Yelp
Great boutique hotel in central San Fran! I've stayed here twice now for a total of ten days and the experience has always been above and beyond. While the hotel is a little pricy, it's location can't be beat. Within steps you have some of the best shopping in Downtown San Fran, the Westfield Centre Mall, BART, and a pickup spot for the trolley to explore the rest of the city. The rooms are incredibly modern with large open floor plans and King beds that will make you a hermit. Downstairs is a large lobby with comfortable seating, a gym, full size bar, and a full service restaurant. The best part? There's a robot named Astro that will deliver food and cocktail to your hotel room!

Yelp
It's hard to find great hotels in major cities, at least for decent prices. The Axiom is clean, filled with new IKEA-style furniture. The bed was very comfortable. Unfortunately, a musty old-wood smell is pervasive. I woke to the loud smash of the neighbor's door. Then the maids began talking. By 9:30am one was singing so loudly from an adjacent room that I nearly laughed. Let's see, what else, the valet was nowhere in sight upon arrival; when handed the keys it seemed they were a foreign object to him. I tipped, of course, hoping he knew how to start the car.

Yelp
I can totally get down with the Axiom Hotel! This boutique hotel is tucked away amidst the hustle and bustle of the city, yet you're literally within steps of all the action. (No joke - the street car picks up directly in front of the hotel!) From the cozy vibes to the high tech amenities, I felt as though everything I needed was accessible and with ease. Check-in was smooth and although there are only two elevators, I never experienced a long wait time. My room was small-ish, but not at all claustrophobic. My bed was comfortable, the bathroom was clean and modern, and my time inside of my room was peaceful and noise free. I also loved the cafe downstairs which made it so easy to grab coffee and a bite to eat before heading out each morning (and maybe a $4 glass prosseco in evening!)

Yelp
We visited San Francisco from Chicago, and were unfamiliar with the neighborhoods. The Axiom is right in the middle of downtown where the hustle and bustle is! We loved staying nearby, with a hotel that has 2 entrances for easy accessibility. Service-wise, we were blown away by the thoughtfulness of the staff. Jeremy and his team are some of the best. Jeremy took the time to answer the questions we had regarding our reservation, made check in easy, and offered really great recommendations for places to eat and enjoy drinks at while we were in town. He also gave us a call to make sure we were happy with our room -- it's the little things. Thank you Axiom Hotel! We cannot wait to visit soon!

Yelp
I'm not sure why you need robots when you have such a great staff. Maybe it is the little tasks that their happy resident robot completes that allows the rest of their staff to do their jobs with a smile. I was greeted by the biggest smiles and shared some laughter with the staff at check-in. It was a warm welcome and a great way to start by visit to the city. My room wasn't ready until check-in time, but the staff helped me out by holding my bags and texting me when my room was ready so I could go enjoy the city. The location of this hotel was absolutely perfect! We were able to walk almost anywhere we wanted to go with ease. We were also convenient to the trolley and were easily accessible by Lyft/Uber when we didn't feel like walking. My room had a window that didn't really open up to anything, but served its purpose of letting in some natural light during the day. The bed was comfortable and I was able to fall asleep quickly each night after full days training and sightseeing. I had plenty of space for my luggage and room in the closet to help me feel right at home during my stay. The bathroom was very large with lots of counter space that allowed me to spread out. The hair dryer in the room also worked great. I loved the toiletries that they provided, but I do wish they had a small shelf in the shower for a few of my own soaps. I also found the water pressure to be weak. These were really just minor inconveniences. I found myself wondering how much the robe costs when I saw the note about the option to purchase to be available. They were "hoodie" style robes, so cozy and soft. One of my favorite things about this hotel was the extra technology touches. It was easy to connect to the Wifi and I had great signal in my room throughout my stay. I loved how easy it was to mirror my devices on my TV too! Of course you can't hype the technology without talking about the charming little Astro. We did order a little something on our last night at the Axiom just so we could be visited by Astro. The staff seemed very humored to accommodate our request.

Yelp
I have to preface this review with the disclosure that I have never stayed in this hotel as an overnight guest. That being said - I am a huge fan of this hotel. I have booked my mom here for a short stay and I have recommended it to friends and family in the past. I have also worked with Axiom Hotel closely for work. Each interaction with The Axiom has been fantastic. The Axiom's convenient downtown location is a big plus. It's in walking distance to Union Square, The Ferry Building, and Market Street - making it a breeze to get around. You're in perfect position for easy access to cable cars, fun walks, ferries, MUNI, BART etc. I can't speak much to how noisy it is at night, since I haven't slept here - but you can always inquire about a room that is farther away from the street. Having been inside my mom's room when she stayed here - I was impressed with the simple modern design of it. My mom appreciated the soft sheets, the coffee machine, the spacious bathroom, the complimentary wi-fi, The Smart TV, and the working hair dryer. She slept great and it was easy for her to grab a bite in the morning - thanks to the The Turn Cafe in their lobby. They also have a small gym if you want to work out as well as classic video games and foosball on their Cloud level. They're even pet friendly. My favorite aspect of The Axiom is their staff. Whenever I have worked with them to book small groups - they have been an absolute dream to work with. Not only are they exceptionally professional- but they're just wonderful people who truly care and take a lot of pride in their hotel and their guests. If you're looking to stay in San Francisco down the road (in fact The Axiom is still open at the moment) - I wouldn't hesitate to suggest The Axiom for your stay. Their rates are always pretty reasonable. Their location allows you easy access to the city. Their amenities are solid. And they're just good people. Trust.

Yelp
The Axiom has: 1. Nice people running the place. Almost too nice. 2. A good bed. 3. Decent rates. 4. A good location. 5. A great shower, with smart faucet placement (this is the first time I've seen the faucet placed opposite the showerhead, meaning I can turn the shower on without getting wet. Brilliant). The Axiom needs: 1. A better kettlebell selection in the gym (I'm not as douchey as this makes me sound, I swear. The fact that they have kettlebells is cool, especially since it's the first hotel gym I've ever used...I just noticed that they are all too small for my massive size and strength). 2. Faster filtered water outside the rooms. I'm a thirsty man (but I still appreciate its existence). I look forward to staying here again when traveling is once again part of my life.

Yelp
This is a really modern, high-tech hotel right in the heart of San Francisco. In fact, right outside the front door are the famous cable cars. I found the staff to be very friendly and helpful. A special call out to Caroline. She was especially helpful and explained the various amenities of this hotel. I should note that my room included 2 robes. There is a very funny robotic delivery service. If you need something, such as a razor, they will send it up in a robot. I will try this out soon. The robot cannot enter the room on its own; you have to let it in. We gave the robot a few test cases. First of all I sent a book that I borrowed from the lobby and headed go up to my room. Secondly, the nice staff person Caroline Sent a goodie bag for me. The robot did a very good job both times. There is one extra benefit: you do not need to give the robot a tip. There is a large plasma screen in your room. At first I thought it was touch screen but you actually use the remote to control it. That worked well. I tried the breakfast from the lobby Cafe. I ordered eggs and bacon and it was promptly delivered by a very cheerful and courteous employee. This young lady is such a great employee I actually saw her running back and forth to make sure she got orders to the customers promptly. A special call out to this wonderful employee named Francesca. What a great employee what great service! Yes breakfast is quite expensive but this is San Francisco. My breakfast was $17. I wish they would have had actual print newspapers. I really miss reading an actual newspaper. But they do offer an online service that provides many newspapers as well as magazines. They have happy hour from 3 to 7 p.m. and my beer was only $4. What a deal! The rooms are pretty small, as others have noted. There are no storage drawers of any sort, but lots of hangers in the armoire. One thing to be careful about, and perhaps a suggestion: The carpeted stairways are quite dark. I think they could use more light.

Yelp
This little hotel joint tucked in the heart of San Francisco is awesome! Upon getting dropped off at the entrance, I was greeted by staff right away, who led me to the check-in area. The staff at check-in were super nice and accommodating. I received my keys right away and was directed towards the elevator to enter my room. My room came with a king bed, which was perfect for 1-2 people. It definitely had a nice modern flair to it, which I loved. I thought to myself that I wouldn't mind some of their furniture pieces in my home! The bed itself was very comfortable and I was able to K.O. every night without a problem. The bathroom was clean, which is always a huge deciding factor for me when staying at hotels. They had really great toiletry as well, which included body wash, shampoo/conditioner, and bar soap which could be used as a face wash as well. I was super into the lotion they gave us (100% vegan lotion FYI) They have a workstation area in between the lobby and second floor with two small complimentary arcade machines and coffee in the morning for those who prefer to work outside of their room. They also had a gym in the basement, which I unfortunately was not able to take advantage of. This is a great hotel for anyone looking to stay in SF. It's walking distance from so many good eateries, shopping centers, and more!

Yelp
Axiom is (in a good way) a moderate hotel. It's nothing too fancy, but it's definitely nice. It's in a pretty convenient location in San Francisco. You can easily find cool things in walking distance, or to a very nearby bus stop if you want to go somewhere farther away. Despite its location in a busier area, it feels safe. From what I experienced, the front door locks after a certain time so not anyone off of the street can get in, and you have to buzz in. Of course each room also has locks and bolts. I will say it was still a tiny bit loud at night, but I imagine that'd be the case at almost any hotel in San Fransisco. Speaking of the rooms, they were nicer than I expected. They were also very clean. The bathroom was a good size, and I especially appreciated the shower. The water heated up quickly (same with the sink), and the water pressure was normal- not too weak or too powerful. I also liked the products they provided (same brand of soap, shampoo, conditioner, etc.), and it was even full sized which I thought was more helpful compared to most other hotels. For me, the bed was the best feature. I honestly think it was the most comfortable bed I've slept in in a VERY long time (maybe ever?). It was just super plush and comfy... I slept SO well! (PS: Axiom, if you're reading this, what mattress and pillows do you use? I seriously want to know ). Most of the staff was pretty helpful. I arrived a little early, before my room was ready, and they let me store my luggage for free and also chill and do my own thing in the lobby until I could go to my room. They said my room would be ready in a few hours but they actually were able to get it ready for me much sooner than that, which was great! They answered my questions (mostly about transportation) and gave me another key without much trouble when I accidentally left mine in my room. When it was time for me to check out, they went out and got a taxi for me so I wouldn't have to. Sometimes it's the little things...

Yelp
"Down by the bay, where the watermelons grow, Back to my home, I dare not go, For if I do, my mother will say... "Did you ever have a time, when you couldn't make a rhyme, Down by the bay?" Ok, Raffi aside, Axiom is down by the bay and I sure as hell didn't want to go back to my home. For a few reasons... 1. Comfortable. Axiom sells itself as a luxury boutique hotel. Well... maybe? It's a super approachable, a very well thought-out hotel. Not super fancy, but uber contemporary. The rooms as spacious and comfortable. I loved the seating nook, bed and bathroom. (And the sweatshirt material bath robe was essential :D) 2. Location, Location, LOCATION! Axiom was walking distance from most things I wanted to do. Plus, BART and cable cars were right there! 3. Chic. Axiom is in a century-old San Francisco building. I loved the old architecture with all the ultra modern design throughout. 4. Safe. Doors locked at night and elevators required room keys. 5. Courteous. All my interactions with staff were pleasant. They were knowledgeable and helpful. I checked out in the morning but wasn't leaving the hotel till the afternoon-- they held my bags no problem. 6. They're pretty green. Filtered ice and water stations available on all floors. Recycling bins throughout the hotel and guest rooms. And I got a $5 credit if I opted for them NOT to clean my towels daily. 7. Free wi-fi. (And a docking station was in my room!) 8. In-room illy Espresso & Coffee Machines. Man I love me an espresso. When you venture down by the bay-- where watermelons do indeed grow. You'll dare not go home if you stay at Axiom, so come. Come check them out!

Yelp
Booked a room for one night on HotelsTonight.com for $116. Was a great value as the hotel is quite new. We were not given an option on room type when booking, so when asked for a king sized bed was told it would be a $40 upgrade, we passed. We're on the 5th floor of 6 floors. Room was very quiet and decent sized as we got a handicapped room so had extra room to move around. Nice coffee in room and big safe. Location is great right next to the Powell cable car turnaround (which is currently not running, sucks to be in San Francisco with not street cars running!) Cafe was also shut down with COVID but a Starbucks is right next door. Service was excellent by all staff. Giving 4 stars due to some services not being offered and extra charges as follows: $67.26 - parking charge ($59 plus tax $34.94 - Urban charge ------------- Total of $102.20 extra on a $116 room rate.

Yelp
My first trip to San Francisco and the Axiom was a great stay for my introduction to the city. It is in the middle of Downtown SF with whatever you would need around you. There's a mall behind it for shopping. There is fast casual dining. A Michelin star restaurant across the street. And a few blocks walk away from the office for me. The rooms were minimal, but spacious and inviting. I particularly loved the sliding bathroom door with the floor to ceiling mirror, which led to a gorgeously sleek bathroom with the perfect backlit mirror for getting ready. The wifi worked wonderfully and easily and being able to mirror on the TV was a godsend. I was told that a room with a window facing the street can get loud, and I didn't think it would get be that big of a deal, but it was pretty noisy and woke me up at 3am the night of travel. I couldn't figure out what it was until I heard it again the next night: the streets getting power washed and the people doing the powerwashing. The gym was clean and had everything you would need for a work trip workout: dbs, kettlebells, treadmills, etc. I need that Work It sign for my home, please. Overall, enjoyed my stay, but would probably ask for a room with no window facing the outside.

Yelp
I was on a business trip and flew in to SF super early in the morning waaay before check-in time. I got the hotel and figured I could just leave my luggage and pick-up some breakfast if I couldn't check-in right away. I walked past the check-in counter & realized I probably missed it once I got to the other end which hosted a small cafe/bar. It's not your typical hotel check-in desk and I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one that missed the little library looking area! The girl I spoke to was nice & friendly and she told me she would put my name on a queue and would text me to let me know when my room was ready. I requested a room with a window & don't mind street noise (there are "inner rooms" in the hotel that do not have windows... whaaat?). She tagged my luggage & off I went! I came back 3 hours later in hopes my room would be ready soon & to get some work done in the lobby while I waited since there were seats & tables and wi-fi was readily available. 2 hours later, I realized that a lot of people were checking-in and getting keys to their rooms. I decided to check with the girl that had helped me earlier since I didn't get a text yet. I guess the housekeepers weren't checking their phones/the queue? Not sure how their system works, but I had overheard the workers talking as they figured out what to do. She knew I had been waiting for over 5 hours. I wasn't mad or anything, maybe a little bummed that I could've gotten a bit more rest, but I appreciated her sincerity and trying to make up for the wait! She apologized and set me up with a big, spacious, comfy room with a window. YAY! Due to the layout of the hotel it was a long walk to get to my room all the way on the other side. BUT once I got there, I loved that the TV displays your name right when you walk in. The bed was huge for a little person like me. It was really comfortable, especially the pillows, and I slept like a rock. I'm normally a really light sleeper, but the street noise didn't phase me at all. The bathroom was lovely & well appointed. The soaps/shampoo are all in a dispenser in the shower which was convenient. I found the bath robe stashed on the top shelf of the closet, behind the fuzzy blanket that I was looking for. Definitely wouldn't have ever known it was there if I wasn't looking for a fuzzy blanket, lol. The hotel definitely has a lot of charm to it, but all the decor, and interior design in general are very hip. Totally my style. They also have Brita water stations on every floor which was really cool and convenient. Lastly, the 2nd floor mezzanine offers collaborative work spaces for meetings, coffee, & arcade games! They also have a small fitness center. The hotel is centrally located with a lot of activities within walking distance (Powell Cable Car is right outside the door!) AND they are right by the BART station. Super, super convenient. They are a few streets away from the Tenderloin district, but this is a high traffic area with A LOT of people so it's pretty safe in general. The hotel does lock the doors pretty early (I believe 5PM) and your hotel key is needed to unlock it. You also need your key to work the elevator. So, keep it handy at all times! Overall, I had a really great stay & they more than made up for my initial wait. They still checked me in earlier than their normal check-in time. I'd definitely recommend them if you're looking to stay in the Union Square area.

Yelp
This is one of those tough reviews that you keep changing from a 4 to a 3 to a 2, back to a 4 and finally settle on a 3. There were some fabulous things about Axiom. But for the style and price of this hotel, there were some glaring deficiencies. The location is fabulous. Located in the heart of the Financial District, you will be within walking distance of many office buildings, shopping, the Ferry Building, and Chinatown. The only time I had to take transportation was to the airport and to the Golden Gate Bridge. The decor is really modern and artsy. Some parts I loved, like the lobby (with all those classic books...swoon) and the cool rope sculpture that suspends through the whole hotel. Other aspects were not that appealing. The hallways are super dark and my floor had some funky images that I found off-putting. But who really cares about that? The staff was mostly helpful, though they experienced some technical difficulties, such as not being able to run my credit card. There is a little cafe/bar in the lobby where you can get pretty affordable drinks and bites. My room was very small, but comfortable for one person. Two people would be pretty tight quarters. I had a large King size bed, which was comfy, though oddly situated in relation to the TV. The closet was itty bitty, but the bathroom was surprisingly spacious! I loved the marble flooring and shower surround, and the nice rainfall showerhead. Now for the bits that turned this review into a 3. This place was SO. DAMN. LOUD! My air conditioner unit would CLUNK on and off all night and woke me up every time. I'm a light sleeper, but this sound would have woken the dead. It sounded like someone was slamming a closet in the next room. I could also hear every sound that every other room made. TV, music, talking, doors, toilets! Yikes! There is a personal coffee machine in the room (I can't remember the brand...some kind of knock off Nespresso) and it really did not work. The instructions are not helpful and I was only able to get maybe 1 TBSP of coffee to brew at a time. I was definitely using the drip coffee pod and the right setting, but it never worked. I had to run it through 4 times just to get something drinkable. I tried 2 other pods and got the same result. I didn't bother after the first morning. The plug by my bed did not work...in two different ways. First of all, it only produced a charge half the time. And secondly the top outlet would not allow hold onto my charger. There was no other outlet near the bed. Overall, it was a fine place to lay my head, but I wouldn't stay there again. They need to work on some amenities and for the love of all things Yelp, spray in some more insulation.

Yelp
I love this place & will definitely be back. My bf and I stayed here for a City "staycation" to celebrate our anniversary, which happens to land on Valentines Day weekend. For the location and the holiday weekend! the price was amazing ($120ish/night, while the other hotels were 180+). This hotel is right in the middle of downtown, you can literally walk out the doors and you will be in line for the cable cars... this is a pro & con. PRO: You have everything just right outside... if you did decide to take Bart the station is right outside. There's the mall, Union Square, Metreon, Cable Cars, amazing restaurants. CON: it's noisy. You're at one of the busiest spots in the City. If you're a light sleeper like I am (I naturally wake up at 7 AM due to my schedule), you may want to consider one of the rooms without a window. Mornings in the city are loud. The space was really clean, one of the cutest (if that's the correct term) hotels I've been to. It has a very modern feel to its design. The bed was huge & comfy. If you like more firm beds, this may be too soft for you. The TV was nice, but also a bit complicated. The response time between changing channels was really long, which made us think we couldn't change the channel (it would just switch to a black screen for a really long time). You weren't able to select "last" on your remote, as it would then bring you to a screen that has options of channels you can choose from, but doesn't show what's on (just labels it TBS, MTV, TNT...etc)... Maybe we're just not used to the TV. It probably won't be an issue if you don't plan to watch anything... we just decided to stay in the room for a quick break before heading out and realized it was a bit inconvenient the way it was set up.There is a mini-fridge in the room, but unfortunately not a microwave. It wasn't a big deal to us... after a couple of drinks out, it doesn't matter if your food is warm or not. We will definitely be back for any future staycation's.

Yelp
This hotel was honestly a pleasant surprise! It's sorta tucked away and there is a coffee shop attached. If I hadn't been set up with a room at this place for work, I would have never even noticed the place. When my taxi dropped me off, I walked in and I literally had no idea where to go to check in at first. The reception area is next to a library of sorts, there is a small desk with a few computer screens on it. Once I got my barring's in order, everything was smooth sailing! My room was really nice, big comfy bed, and very clean. Everything worked in the room, TV, fridge, A/C, iron, blow dryer, etc. The only bummer was that I didn't have cell phone service, thank goodness for free wifi! Every day I left and came back to new sheets, new towels and everything looking nice and spiffy. The staff was generally helpful but the one time I needed something brought to my room it took about 30 minutes. I was waiting that entire time to receive silverware and the wait made me a wee bit hangry. Overall, I really did feel completely comfortable. Thanks for making my visit to SF a pleasant one.

Yelp
I needed a day away so I booked here. I was nervous at first but the decor is gorgeous and the king room was very nice, clean, and cozy. The hotel is walking distance to the mall for all your shopping needs. The hotel is close to many major attractions and is accessible by BART and the old fashioned cable car! I would stay here again. The only downside is parking being so expensive and you risk having your car broken into if you don't pay for valet. Overall, a great experience that I would like to have again.
