Ayres Rock Orkney Hostel & Campsite

We stayed 4 nights on this little campsite on the beautiful island of Sanday. Claire met us on arrival and showed us where everyone was. Toilets, showers and a campers kitchen. We stayed in our camper so I can't comment on the hostel. It was perfect for our stay on the island. The site has stunning views as it is overlooking the sea. Everything was clean and plenty of hot water in the shower. Claire was extremely helpful and explained that they have only recently taken over and are in the process of updating the site.

We stayed here with our small camper. Spacious pitches and all facilities are there. Beautiful views to the sea and nice walks possible along a rough coastline. And many seabirds to be spotted. Very welcoming owners. It is a small campsite so if you want to be so lucky to stay there it will be better to make a reservation. In the evening the 4 g signal is very weak.

I had a wonderful stay at Ayre’s Rock campsite in one of the pods. It was such a peaceful setting with great facilities and I had possibly the best sleep of my life! Claire, the owner, was so helpful, friendly and welcoming. Highly recommend a stay here! Thanks again Claire!

Myself and my partner camped here,and had a lovely stay. The site has good facilities, great views is conveniently placed to travel about the island and the owners are nice and helpful. Will stay again!

Great stay on a wonderful island. (Actually, a "best kept secret" sort of island, so maybe I should trash it....!")|Friendly welcome, to a well-equipped hostel. Did not use the kitchen, but it looks very well-equipped - and the equipment all looked pretty new.|A lovely outlook westwards across the sea to Eday.

stayed 2 nights in sanday, the first night we wild camped and then after looking at the weather we decided to stay here for our second night. greeted by one of the owners, who was absolutely lovely. she showed us to our room and around the hostel, it was only us staying there that night so it felt like a whole house to ourselves! the facilities are perfect and the shower was great! had a really cosy and comfy nights sleep with the wee radiator in the room. couldn’t have been better, extra points for the owners being welsh! thank you!

Lovely peaceful campsite on Sanday Orkney. Claire & Phil couldn’t be more helpful. Hot showers. Great location. Beautiful island. Friendly locals. Lots to do. No people.

what a place to stay, the hosts were warm and welcoming and very friendly.. it was the perfect place to wild camp with sea views and warm facilities to boot, even a 'LOO WITH A VIEW' will absolutely be visiting again.. thanks to Phil and Claire for a wonderful stay.. ii personally recommend this place to anyone who likes the peace and serenity of beautiful white sandy beaches and coastal walls
