We stayed in the Maisonette for a week. Its huge advantage is access to a roof terrace with loungers which includes a good shaded area. It is adjacent to a separate terrace area linked to the big suite room but there is a good degree of privacy. Note that it is accessed via a two flight external staircase from the ground floor courtyard. Given the nature of the old building , the rooms have been modernised with high quality fittings, and are all-white modern decor. Upstairs is a decent sized master bedroom & en-suite. (though space constraints means that the (super-modern) wash basin is in the bedroom). Downstairs is a large "day-bed" , table and fridge/kettle/coffee maker etc facilities. So it could cope quite well with 4 persons.||I have mixed feelings about the breakfast. There are 8 rooms , but only 3 very small round tables with hard metal chairs in the courtyard which are quite close together. . A further breakfast area is indoors. So if a family are having a courtyard breakfast , it is better to wait, or go indoors.||The hotel brings out a huge sharing two-tier rack of "mixed appetisers" to start, (It includes local pasties etc). Plus the usual fruit/yoghurt/rolls etc You can then order ala carte mains (eggs or a very nice "fennel pie". ). So a filling meal.||Its such a shame that the courtyard is not big enough to spread out and linger , and that the metal tables are quite stark.||We rather got the impression that there was an underlying minimalist/ modernist design ethic rather than prioritising "guest comfort".|||The staff are all super-friendly and helpful , which made for a very pleasant stay, and the location is great : quiet , but very close to the harbour front.|||We really wanted an outdoor terrace rather than just a small balcony , so that was our main reason for choosing Azade. (Ie somewhere to chill out during the day , as we were not planning on multiple day-trips. ) There are a huge number of "boutique hotels" in this corner of Chania alone , but how many have such space I cannot say.
