During my yoga training at Azadi, I was taken aback by the beautiful simplicity of the retreat. It never felt too ornate or garish, yet still left me with a sense of peaceful comfort. The location is really amazing - rising out of the emerald green rice paddies of rural Ubud, Azadi is only about a ten minute drive from town. The temple next door, while a bit loud a few nights during festivals, added a lot to my day-to-day experience of Bali with the smell of incense and the sound of worship drifting across the paddies. ||As a strictly gluten-free vegan, the food was decent. At times, the labels of the dishes got a little mixed up, and once or twice I found myself with food that wasn't correct for my dietary needs. However, the manager was incredibly accommodating and adapted the menu quickly to my needs. The food itself is delicious, and the chef makes very good vegan/ gluten-free cakes! ||The staff is very polite and attentive. Whenever I had a request, it would be taken care of. I had a paper due for my training, and they helped me at 10:00 in the evening to get it printed. ||To conclude, Azadi is definitely a place of relaxation in the midst of the healing green of Bali. If you're looking for a quiet, nurturing place to retreat to from the crowds of Ubud, this is it.
