Mandranova, Near Agrigento, Sicily - Explore & Book

"This old farmhouse on Sicily's south coast has been done up with immense love and attention to detail: 14 simple but stylish rooms and suites, a cottage for self-catering, a gravelled garden with flaming eritrina trees and bold Starck furniture, and a deep freshwater pool at the top of shimmering olive groves. It's also a working farm, whose prize-winning oil is exported worldwide, and whose fresh veg appears on the dinner table via Silvia's expertly-run kitchen. Giuseppe will proudly show you round on his tractor, dogs in tow, following a line of 600 palm trees where once a railway ran. It lies near the main road amid unspectacular agricultural countryside, but don't let that put you off. There's a string of empty beaches a 20-minute drive away, plus 2 towns of fading grandeur (Palma di Montechiaro and Licata) and the uniquely preserved Roman mosaics at Piazza Armerina. Above all, the famous Greek temples of Agrigento lie just half an hour along the coast. That's what most guests come for; but it's the memories of Silvia and Giuseppe's hospitality that will linger longest in the mind. Highs The classiest place to stay within striking distance of Agrigento A warm family welcome from Silvia, Giuseppe and their sons Superb home cooking served at communal tables - very sociable Lovely tree-filled garden with shady corners for afternoon tea or reading, plus a pretty spring-fed pool overlooking endless olive groves One of the few places in Sicily to offer the use of a speedboat Lows Some road noise from the SS115 (100m away), noticeable from the garden The immediate surroundings aren't the most spectacular: poly-tunnelled fields and largely modern towns This is a family-run azienda agricola, so don't expect teams of staff waiting on you hand on foot Mixed feedback on the cookery lessons: lots of food preparation, not much food instruction!" - Michael Cullen

Azienda Agricola Mandranova Agriturismo Review | Hotels Above Par

"Set amid olive groves and grain fields near Palma di Montechiaro on Sicily’s southern coast, this family-run agriturismo occupies the ancestral estate of Giuseppe Di Vincenzo, renovated into a boutique retreat in the late 1990s and open seasonally from late March to mid-November. The operation puts farming first — olive oil and almonds are the primary products, with a working olive oil mill, daily farm tours, and cooking classes that use produce from the gardens (aubergines, zucchini, peppers, lettuce in summer; fava beans in cooler months). Rooms and suites are dispersed across several historic buildings, including a converted old train station, and are furnished with heirloom pieces overlooking a central courtyard garden inspired by the Orto Botanico di Palermo and planted with Mediterranean and African species. Communal, home-style dining features a set four-course dinner served at 8 PM (the atmosphere encourages mingling, generous pours of Sicilian wine, and second helpings such as leftover risotto), plus breakfasts with fresh-baked cakes, jams, almonds and extra-virgin olive oil. On-site amenities include a square infinity pool set in a former open-air cistern with stone terrace and palm-leaf cabana, lounges and a library in the former olive facility (Vespas, art, a pool table, and a summer artist-in-residence program), and limited WiFi confined to common areas for a deliberate digital detox. Practical details: four-star property with 13 rooms, rooms from about $140/night, farm employs year-round staff in addition to hospitality personnel, and the closest major airport is Vincenzo Bellini Catania Airport (CTA)."

With the Valley of the Temples 15 minutes away, Mandranova was the perfect one night stop over during our journey from Ortigia to Palarmo. The farmhouse grounds were peaceful and stunning and Silva and her family were gracious host. The dinner and the breakfast were excellent. Without a doubt, I had the best bread I ever had in my life there. An incredible crispy crust with soft, flavorful texture inside. I would go back for the bread alone, but there is so much more.

My husband and I were only able to stay one night but wish we had more time there. It's about a 30 minute drive from the Valley of the Temples and we checked in late afternoon after touring the ruins. Everyone was welcoming and the property was beautiful. We had some wine and snacks in the courtyard and then went for a swim in the pool. Dinner was excellent, a set menu using local ingredients. The next day we did the olive oil tasting that they offer, that includes a tour of the facilities where they make it. It was informative (Loris was excellent and entertaining guide) and a great way to end our time there.

Absolutely fantastic, everything--the accommodations, the property and the FOOD was very high level. The property was beautiful and the accommodations were wonderful. A comfortable/ higher end stay with well designed and decorated rooms. We loved the dark modern bathroom and the period artwork in the rooms, as well as the contemporary art around the property. We took the cooking class and the olive tour. Our visit was memorable and a highlight of our trip. Be on time for the class, you will be rewarded with plenty of participation. If you are disrespectfully late, you will earn your shade for sure. We highly recommend and are looking forward to a shipment of olive oil.

We stayed at Mandranova and had a incredibly eventful week. This is thanks to the warm and hospitable owner family and the excellent staff.Excursions to the sights were organized for us. Of course, we occasionally enjoy a day at the beach, and this was also perfectly managed! One day, we and other guests were able to use the hotels Motorboat with Giovanni (son of the owner family) as captain. The food is exceptional: everything served, from breakfast, lunch or dinner is a culinary delight! The Lady of the house, Silvia, is a passionate gourmet. Giuseppe, the master of the house, makes sure to personally pamper his guests with the evening aperitif. In short, anyone looking for a special kind of vacation with personalized attention will feel like in paradise at this country estate hotel.

This is quite an attractive property but has an odd vibe. Hosting team, some of whom are part of the owners' family, are very welcoming, others seem to feel that their paying guests should feel very grateful to be there. |Rooms not in the main building definitely feel rather "second class" compared to those in the main building. |Breakfast and dinner, much of these made with produce from the property, are very good but be aware the owners' dogs are allowed to roam at will through the dining room. |It's a pretty location but is very close to the busy main road, which can be heard from most parts of the property.

Fabulous resort hotel and working olive oil farm. Food was fabulous, and served outside and shady groves. Cooking lesson was nice. The olive oil tour and tasting was perfect. Beautiful grounds within a working olive orchard, including a beautiful pool. Rooms were spacious, comfortable, tasteful, and scattered around the property. Highly recommended for a few days retreat. Not near any other commercial centers so plan on staying there or driving.

My friend and I recently stayed at Mandranova. What an absolutely beautiful oasis. Welcomed by Giovanni and checked into a pretty rooms quickly and easily. A working olive farm, we did the olive oil tour which was so interesting! The most lovely family own and run the resort. Fantastic staff, beautiful food and wine. You don’t even have to think about what to order as the most amazing 3 course meal arrives for you. Everyone eats together at their own little tables (outside in summer was divine) and you are more than looked after. People were so friendly but respected your time as well. It’s small and perfect. Gorgeous pool which was so lovely to swim in as weather was hot (June 2025). The family dog Anita keeps her eye on everything and is lovely. It was a little tricky finding it with our car - but that’s probably as I am a bit hopeful with navigation! It was just the most relaxing 3 nights. We can’t wait to go back again!! Such a beautiful and interesting place. Thank you for having us. What a privilege.

Really lovely spot, and a little immersion into agriculture in Sicily. Silvia was a charming host and an amazing cook. Lunch was a delicious, varied spread and dinner a little more fine dining with great local ingredients. The rooms were very comfortable and the common living areas filled with comfy couches and interesting books. Lots of great spots to sit outside under the palm and olive trees. Really enjoyed savouring the delicious olive oils and wines.
