This place is slightly off the beaten path and sort of excluded as far as walking distance to get to major points of interest in the area. Driving can be busy most times as you are leaving hotel area and more so as you get into the main, busier part of town.
The resort itself, and the three main building where they have the rooms, serves as a background to a large pool that is the center of attention as you walk through the main, open lobby area. The restaurant is across from the check in desk and bar located on the mezzanine level that is also adjacent to the reception desk. Restaurant is open from 0600 to 2200, starting with a breakfast, which for us was complimentary with the room. The bar is open at 1800 and closes at midnight.
Many of the rooms are getting a makeover, and are somewhat under construction so to speak. I assume this work will be done before the primary travel season. Overall the room we stayed in was nice and roomy, especially considering the area and another hotel we had stayed at before this place are often quite small. It was nice to finally have a shower you had room to clean yourself. The toilet was also placed where you did not have to navigate around a door, another plus for this resort hotel.
The staff, under the General Manager Ding's leadership, was first rate in their effort to make our stay enjoyable. Housekeeping did a great job keeping our room clean and at check-in the room was refreshing with their spray they use after cleaning the room. This of course was nice to experience daily as they cleaned our room
I had a bit of trouble with the food. My son and I picked up some food poisoning from the restaurant. My son linked, and strongly believes, was the result of mishandled pineapple in his shake. I believe i was triggered again with food poisoning, at a 50 percent confidence, which I linked to a burger I ate at the hotel restaurant for dinner. I had overcome food poisoning just prior to arriving at this hotel, so may have been a coincidence. I shared this INFO with the manager who seemed receptive to all feedback I had during my stay, starting with feedback I had at check-in when the bellhop demanded my wife to return the umbrellas when he took our luggage to the room and shortly followed with me reporting another family member in our group, getting food poisoning attributed to eating the hotel restaurant's pork ramen. In regards to the umbrella's Ding said he would speak with the staff that the umbrellas are for use while in the hotel and my understanding we should have been allowed to retain at least one with all the rain.
Be ready for occasional power outage, knock on wood, were of extremely short duration. The first one I experience on the island was when we first landed at airport and while in the bathroom.
Overall not a bad experience and probably one of the nicer, if not the nicest, hotel you will find in the area. This was our third hotel we stayed at during our visit to Palawan island.
