The food was excellent and service was fantastic. We had the Pollo en Mole and the Carnitas Chimichanga. The mole was smooth and rich, with a good balance of sweet and spicy. The salsa was perfect; not too spicy so that everyone can enjoy it. The fresh guacamole was creamy and delicious.

Everything is always so delicious here. The decor is so cute. They are so friendly and work hard for you. The salsa spicy and fine; the chips are fresh and light. It's so flavorful without being overly salty. I will always get chicken as the beef has a more course texture. The beef is really flavorful, but I just like the chicken more so. The rice and beans are delicious too. The portions are large and satisfying. It's always so comforting to come in and enjoy a great meal here. I ate too fast and forgot to take propper pictures.

Are you looking for an authentic Mexican restaurant? Azteca Mexican Restaurant is it! The food reminds me of my grandmother's cooking. Check it out.

Google
Not good. I wanted to love this place, after 2 weeks taking in local cuisine. Great refried beans, pretty good steak taco but the chicken enchilada was off, seemed like the meat wasnt fresh, the carneasata was extremely fatty and had no char, it also lacked flavor. Great margaritas. Service for us was ok, a table with another server seemed to get much warmer service

Google
Fast friendly service the food was awesome came out really fast even the waiter was very friendly and he was like 10 or 12 years old so cute will definitely go back again

Google
Rated this 4 stars and not 5 because the portion size was a little small. I shared the burrito with beans and rice with my spouse because I am used to always getting massive burritos at other Mexican restaurants. Needless to say I left a little hungry. This of course is my own fault and should have each ordered our own burritos. Service was great. Food was delicious. Definitely going to return many times! If you like my review, please follow me :)

We were on our vacation to Oahu and went here by the Google reviews. Weren't disappointed! Fantastic service and great taste. We are vegetarians and usually prefer mexican cuisine on vacations as you find better vegetarian options. This place was great for us. The place was small but it wasn't so crowded to be waiting for a dinner around 8 PM Dishes are a bit pricey than a usual Mexican restaurants but that's fine with me. A meal for two came around $32. My wife often recalls about the service here. The waiter was too kind! 😃

Google
Not affiliated with the chain restaurant. This place has it all, great location and atmosphere. Amazing staff and restaurant owners. I still dream of their fresh made salsa and guacamole 12 years later. I've never had an enchilada 10% the quality of the ones made here since I last visited. If you're in the area or lucky enough to live nearby do yourself a favor. You could literally eat lunch here every single day and never get sick of it, you won't find anything on the mainland even close, in any state.

Yelp
Had the best Taco Tuesday with my boyfriend! $3/select street tacos all day on Tuesdays! BYOB. [Customer Service] The two female staff had sunny dispositions and provided friendly customer service. Felt welcoming as soon as we entered the restaurant. The team took care of us and checked in several times [Food and Drink] The horchata is creamy and sweet (could be too sweet for some but I loved it). Delicious pairing with the tacos! The carne asada is a tad salty, in my opinion, but it works well with the double layer of tortilla! I loved the pickled onions, and the green salsa (has a delightful kick). The food is evidently fresh to order and made with care. We ordered several tacos and each were packed with flavor and generously portioned. [Ambiance] Limited seated inside--I can see how it may get crowded when busy quickly; however the vibes are right. The food is good. No complaints! My boyfriend parked in the metered lot behind for $0.75 for 1 hour. Give this business a try! It's nice to have found a GOOD Mexican restaurant on-island.

Yelp
Definitely a new favorite! I grew up with authentic Mexican food all around me and when moving to Hawai'i, I didn't realize how much of a staple it was in my diet. It's already difficult to find decent Mexican cuisine out here, but even more difficult to find vegetarian options. Tight Tacos does rajas, or sautéed poblanos in cream, very well and has become my goto. Their salsas and spicy onions are fabulous; I have never been a huge salsa verde fan, but I enjoy theirs immensely. I saw they had a special for chile relleno, which I'll have to try some time soon. I'd love to see their take on more vegetarian options, like hongos or mushrooms. The horchata and Jamaica are quite tasty, but maybe too sweet for my palate. My friend, however, could not stop raving about the horchata. The service is great, friendly, and quick. Jose, one of the chefs, was incredibly thoughtful about making sure me and my service dog were comfortable. Their Taco Tuesday deal is pretty good, but it's a smaller dining space, so it can and does get packed quickly. If you get overstimulated easily, I would plan to go on any other day, but I would still plan on visiting because it is probably the best Mexican food I've had on island.

Yelp
We first tried Tight Tacos during the "Keep It Ka'imukī" event. It was fabulous. The food was so tasty. I tried the street tacos with different proteins. The shrimp was my favorite! I ended up taking my daughter today after her early out from school. It did not disappoint. She had the chicken burrito and I had the 3 taco plate. I left there content and full. When we were leaving the male worker behind the counter ask how our meal was. He was persona was so kind and genuine. We really enjoyed our visit today and definitely be coming back!

Yelp
I forgot to post this way earlier, but lost track of time. What a bizarre way to start 2025...and none better than to enjoy 'Taco Tuesday' than in Kaimuki. I ended up going to Tight Tacos, which was something my therapist suggested me to try last year, but never had the opportunity to try. I guess I picked a good time to go for some Mexican food than today, huh? So...considering the look of the restaurant, there was some space and/or tables to sit at, and it was a good opportunity for me to try some good food over there. I ate three different tacos over there, which included the Carnitas and Lengua from the Two Taco Plate and one Carne Asada from the $3 Taco Tuesday special. They were all delicious. Of the three, I actually liked the Lengua, considering that I never had beef tongue before in a Mexican restaurant. It wasn't that bad. I was torn from wanting to try the two taco plate or the Bajaritto, but I guess I chose the simple route by trying their tacos, given the namesake of their restaurant. Food was great, decently priced, and overall, great experience for me. I recommend this place if you wanna enjoy coming in on a Tuesday if you want tacos at a reasonable price, or if you wanna try a Mexican restaurant in the eastern side of Oahu.

Yelp
It's been awhile since I last ate at Tight Tacos Kaimuki. Firstly, there aren't many vegetarian options. Secondly, when in Kaimuki there is a lengthy checklist of dining options I've had their carnitas and carne asada tacos ( both excellent) prior to becoming vegetarian. Also, had a bean and cheese burrito...which was also good. Today, I ordered online;they have a burrito plate special...I chose the Rajas option. It was good but a bit pricey for the portion. Estimated time for pickup was accurate. Parking is available on street (metered) and in the metered parking lot to the rear. They are at the corner of Waialae and Koko Head Avenues, respectively.

Yelp
First time here and the food didn't disappoint! We ordered the happy hour street tacos. You can choose your protein. I had the carnitas and carne asada. Mix and match is ok. Good deal at $3 each. We also had the quesadillas. This was my fav! The portion was enough to share and the best part.....the CHEESE! As this was my first time here, I didn't expect the set up. You go up to the counter to order and when your food is ready, they call your number and you go up to get your food. When done, you take away your own dishes. So it was a little more casual than I expected. There is street parking if you can find some (metered). If not, there is a metered lot behind the restaurant and another paid parking lot the next block over.

Yelp
Finally tried their Fish tacos and the carne asada taco two taco plate with a side of chips and dip. They now have their own sauces and veggies to pack up in your own. Didn't know they had $3 tacos on Tuesdays. I will have to try that soon. I really enjoyed my mean tonight. The staff said to try the fish tacos since it's the best. She was right!! It was so good!

Yelp
Had a great taco experience on Taco Tuesday with my coworkers. Got there about 12:20 or so. Ample seating inside. Friendly cashier/server. Pay at the register first and they will bring you your order. I had the grilled chicken (2) and pork (1) tacos. They are pretty filling. There's a water station if you don't want to purchase drinks. Cute salsa "bar" to fill up your containers. They also have a spicy shredded onion topping which was tasty. Parking in the lot next door.

Yelp
Airtight. Lives up to the hype. You know, there's usually a hesitation I have with Mexican food. I know not to expect a lot because I've had authentic Mexican food in California. My friends and relatives will visit us in Hawaii and don't even want to touch the Mexican food we have here. I'm glad I visited Tight Tacos. I'm telling you, get the "There's no good Mexican food in Hawaii" stereotype outta your head. I had chips and salsa and the 3-taco plate that comes with rice and beans. You can mix and match tacos and I chose shrimp, fish, and carne asada. Two words: fish tacos. I've had fish tacos in California. SoCal at that. They were good, but not quite as good as Tight Tacos. The batter was nice and crispy and the thing is, I guess if you've got a really good sauce, you can make anything taste good. These fish tacos have got the sauce right. We also had chips and salsa on the side. They are your standard restaurant chips and salsa. No complaints here. Next to the counter, they have serve yourself salsas, limes, and a red onion relish. The onion relish is spicy. We also got chips and salsa. There are little condiment containers for your convenience and a little fridge full of different flavored Jarritos soda. The customer service was good. They have a small, casual seating area with a few tables and counter seating available that looks onto Waialae Avenue.

Yelp
I went to take tacos for lunch on a Wednesday with my work buddies. I ended up getting a two taco plate with just shrimp tacos because that I think is the best flavored taco. It comes with rice and beans as sides, which go great with the taco. I also ordered chips and salsa, which is unlimited refills, but we ended up just eating the whole Basket of chips. They have a bar of different salsas that you can add to your tacos or dip your chips in. They used to have the pickled carrots and peppers but this time they just had an onion mix with spicy sauce on it.Not my favorite because I really do love those pickled vegetables. But I recommend this place because of the quality and price of their dishes being a great value. They have a smothered burrito which always looks amazing and I will have to try in the future. There is a metered municipal lot in the back, which is convenient. Or you can go down the street over into the Kahai municipal lot, which allows you to pay via credit card.

Yelp
Food: WORTH THE DRIVE from where ever you live. SPICY. DELICIOUS. MOUTH WATERING meats that are nicely smoked. Add the chili onions for extra level of spice. Drizzle those limes onto your tacos/burritos and OH BOY! Honestly you need to try for yourself if you haven't. Tacos can be a hit or miss bc they're so simple but the flavor of the tortilla and the meats made them HIT THE TARGET. Service: cashier was amazing. When it was down time she didn't hesitate to keep the place clean. Regulars will say "see you next week" so you know people keep coming back. Seating can be limited 3 tables for a party of 4. 2 tables for a party of 2 and one table for a party of 6. There is a small bar seating for 5. So plan accordingly. Parking like any place in town is limited but they do phone orders, online orders and grubhub. Also Taco Tuesdays = $3 tacos! Happy Eating Y'all.

Yelp
Love the fresh salsa bar and their burritos are a family favorite! So 'ono! I'm hoping to make it to their weekday Happy Hour soon for taco specials.

Yelp
oh! i cant believe i've never written about tight tacos and i come here all the time! They replaced azteca restaurant on waialae. I was bummed that azteca closed down, but tight tacos ended up being such a nice edition to the neighborhoodhood. I've tried a variety of different items on their menu and nothing was dissapointing. I really enjoy their watermelon aqua fresca too. i wish they have it all the time. Parking can be a little bit tricky since its kaimuki. I've actually been putting in online orders around 6pm when the street parking is free and just run in to grab my order. It's also fun now that they have a little salsa bar! the green one is my favorite. Right now they have this promo where they'll donate money to lahaina anytime you buy a krunk wrap until the end of august!

Yelp
I really liked this little "hole in the wall" taco restaurant in Kaimuki, Tight Tacos! I have to give major kudos to my Aunt (pictured with me) for her always being open to my crazy-ass adventures of traveling and eating different types of foods ! I ordered the "two taco plato" for my Aunt with one carne asada taco and one pollo taco, the plate (plato) also came with rice and beans . For me, I ordered the "three tacos plato" with 2 carne asada tacos and one carnitas taco (all my tacos without the dreaded cilantro ), also with rice and beans. In addition, I also ordered chips and salsa and a side of guacamole ! My Aunt "liked" everything on her plato, the chips, salsa and guacamole ; whereas, I liked the carne asada tacos, chips, salsa and guacamole but wasn't very keen on the carnitas taco, I have to say I had better carnitas at other establishments! The service was good; she was very efficient, proficient and professional and our orders came out from the kitchen quite quick! I think, my only gripe about this place is the "extreme hole in the wall" feeling of this place! Although, the girl behind the counter was attentive and quick, the actual look and feel of the restaurant was of a very 'unclean' atmosphere/environment. When we arrived was slightly after they open but the tables seemed dirty despite the restaurant being pretty empty, it's probably because the wood tables desperately need to be refinished and sealed to help maintain a look and feel of a clean restaurant! The floors were dirty and 'sticky' needing to be thoroughly scrubbed and sealed to help maintain the look and feel, again, of a clean restaurant! All in all, I can only give it my personal three Shaka score or the Yelp three star.

Yelp
Great lunchtime experience - was able to snag a table and food came out relatively fast. Love the self service salsa bar!

Yelp
I've been wanting to try Tight Tacos Kaimuki for some time now but I've always ate at my regular spots. It wasn't till I had a conversation with my dad where he told me he didn't think he has ever had tacos before so I knew I had to make it a point to get take out from Tight Tacos Kaimuki. I called in my order and they said it'll take about 10 minutes. When I arrived, my order was just packed so I just had to pay and get my condiments located to the side of the register. The restaurant itself is spacious and clean. They offer two salsas. The brownish orange one is the spicy one and the green one is the mild one but both were mild IMO. There are lime slices along with pickled carrots and peppers on the side that you can help yourself to. I ordered the same thing for myself and my dad but I added a Chips and Salsa to my order. The menu said it's fried in house so I had to give it a try. I could appreciate the smoked flavor of their salsa but I wish it had a little spice to it. As far as the tacos, I ordered Carne Asada, Carnitas and Lengua. Each taco came with cilantro and red onions. I thought that was odd since Mexican food usually uses white onions. They were all good but the Carnitas was a little tough and dry. My dad said his taco experience was good and he enjoyed the meal so that's a plus. I'm happy he got to try tacos for the first time and it was a positive experience for him. This filled my craving for tacos and I'm happy that I finally got to try this taco spot in the Kaimuki area.

Yelp
What a fun place. Small location and very busy.but staff is ok . Food was great. Street tacos. Good for Hawaii. And go on taco Tuesday/ $3 tacos. Good selection and portions on the burrito is worth it. Over all portions are great.

Yelp
Came back from a trip and had a yearning for Mexican food so decided to chance Tight tacos again. Well, both of our carnitas plates were burnt. I couldn't eat it. I'm updating with this review because I saw that someone else posted that they thought these were fake reviews. Excuse of the positives. My original post was not indicative of my recent experiences. I always want to try and give the business a chance but we've experience this burnt meat more than twice and at this point, I'm just throwing away money. I paid for extra tortillas that I couldn't eat with anything. I ordered my food on a Sunday afternoon and either they overheated leftover meat and burnt it or the cook is just bad. If you asked me a year ago I wouldn't hesitate to send anyone. Now is a different story. My family has also given up and said please don't order from here again. I'm sad but want to let others know you risk the chance your food is not going to be edible.

Yelp
Food is really good. I'm not sure what else Yelps needs to know.Whay else should I talk about? Is the 85 characters?

Yelp
Went in on a Tuesday and saw the $3 Taco Tuesday signs. Thought that was a deal since the normal taco price is $4.50. Ordered the fish taco since I heard it was good, and a shrimp taco, and the chicken one. I didn't know the fish and shrimp tacos were more expensive. I thought any taco was $3. So when I saw the receipt later, I was a little shocked to see the fish taco was $6.50 and the shrimp one was $6! That's crazy and it wasn't even discounted at all for Taco Tuesday. Felt ripped off, tbh, so I won't be going back again.

Yelp
Tight Tacos Kaimuki has some of the best tacos on island, hands down. Located by Jewel or Juice (on Waialae Ave, almost by Koko Head Ave), Tight Tacos is serving up delicious Mexican tacos and burritos. I personally love their 3-taco plate. The choices I get are the camarones (+$1), lengua (+$1) and the rajas (vegetarian plate). The extra special meats that I upgrade to for my personal plate are 100% worth it. Don't sleep on their homemade chips and salsa either - I love this combo. Their salsa is slightly smoky with a kick. Order online to pick up in-store, call for phone orders or go and dine-in. Be sure to follow them on IG as well - they normally post if they have daily specials, $3 Taco Tuesday and potential Happy Hour deals. Cheers to Tight Tacos in Kaimuki!

Yelp
Ate there in November, 2024 and tacos were 5 Star. Chicken was moist and tender. Today chicken was burnt and dried out and the taco looked like an after thought. Will try again to see if the cook gets good again. Sauces were good as was the front service.

Yelp
Beautiful place with beautiful food and service. Definitely a spot where parking is a little bit of a challenge, but that's not what the review section is for lol. Emily our host and server is friendly and so sweet. Food and atmosphere was calm even when dining outside :)
google avatar

Yelp
ok by far best shrimp tacos I have had on the island this far! tortillas are so delish, lots of flavor, and also simple but flavor packed tacos Salsa has some heat but can't get enough. the guys working were very kind too

Yelp
This place was pretty TIGHT. We had a work lunch that was ordered from Tight Tacos. I ordered the quesadillas and horchata. The horchata was pretty good- it didn't taste grainy or too creamy/sweet. The quesadilla was pretty basic, but I wouldn't mind eating it with their delicious salsa! I would definitely want to go back and eat there again.
google avatar

Yelp
I went on a taco Tuesday and had the chicken and a shrimp taco. The shrimp taco was very good and would have it again. A friend that was with me said the fish taco was good as well. The woman taking our order was very friendly, however, there must've been some miscommunication with my friend's order because it took over thirty minutes to get her food and I was finished way before she got hers. It is a very small space to dine in and that would've been okay except for the metal chairs/stools that they have. The grating sound every time someone sat down was nerve wracking. Now add a family with two toddlers who thought it was fun to move the chairs to create the noise and you have an intolerable situation. Thank goodness it was time for us to leave. Would I go back? I'm on the fence about that right now.

Yelp
With a name like Tight Tacos, I had to try their tacos. I chose the chicken tacos plate and really enjoyed it. It was a soft taco and the shell tasted fresh and slightly chewie, how i like it.. The chicken was very tasty and condiments complemented the rest of the taco nicely. A drizzle of thousand island tasting dressing was interesting and went well with either their green or red salsa. While you're waiting for your order, complimentary chips and salsa is served. Chips are crispy and home fried. Salsa is thick, not too hot and flavorful. Very nice touch and makes the wait go by faster. If you order the chips and salsa on the menu, it'll cost you $6 and its a bigger order of the free one. Unless you're really hungry for chips and salsa, I would eat the free one and spend the money on another taco. The beans and rice on the plate are okay, nothing special. Overall, a nice meal with some good tacos in a casual, comfortable environment.

Yelp
Not sure why they deleted my review, but it was good. Just made it a 1 star as they seem to not want to answer their phone tonight and I know they are open as I drove past earlier today. Son is now sad as he cannot get what he wanted to eat at home. Called throught the night, to no avail. Just ended up getting something else to eat at home.

Yelp
Been meaning to try Tight Tacos for a minute since I pass by the their store front every few days, finally was able to visit twice and was very happy with the overall experience! The Great: Not a huge menu but enough to satisfy most cravings. I meant to try something different on my second visit but I just like that three taco combo so danged much as a great lunch option. I have had the carnitas, carne asada, and the baja fish. All fantastic, generously served on a fresh corn tortilla, and served with a side of rice and beans makes it the perfect lunch. After dining twice, I actually think the fish is my favorite. The Good: Staff have been welcoming and food comes out quickly. I get a side of chips and salsa, was hoping to get complimentary chips/salsa but I don't mind paying a few extra dollars. The Okay: Parking is decent, there is a limited amount of street parking that you may snag if you're lucky but there is also a large paid lot behind the restaurant. Dine in can accommodate a decent amount of guests but they do not serve alcohol if you were hoping to sip on cold brew while enjoying your food. Overall: Great food, convenient location, price to quality is solid, my only regret is that it took so long to finally visit!

Yelp
Solid 4.5 stars for my husband's new favorite Mexican taco place. I was watching too many random IG reels this morning while our son and dogs were still sleeping. My husband always talks about going to this place (he works in Kaimuki so he's been a few times). I've even ordered uber eats from here for him but I've still never gone until today. When our son finally rolled out of bed at like 11, we roamed over. Luckily my husband's work has parking (even if it's down on 10th but it was a good thing...). We parked there and walked up to tight tacos. Unfortunately we weren't fast enough so we were quite a few people back in line. We ordered the carnitas plate, 3 taco plate with rice and beans, chicken quesadilla, and chips and salsa. The food came out nice and hot; the wait wasn't too long either. The chips were fresh and salty, my favorite! The salsa was a bit watery and I preferred my husband's but it's still decent. The carnitas plate was huge! The rib was big but not super meaty; however the meat on there was crispy and good. My son could only finish 2 of 3 slices of quesadilla because it was so huge. He really enjoyed his. I got the 3 tacos and I wish I had gotten all three as three fish tacos. The fish taco was my favorite; super crispy outside and moist inside (just like a fish taco should be lol). I liked how you could help yourself to salsa verde, hot? salsa, limes, and pickled carrots. The carnitas taco needed some salsa verde as it was a bit dry. I only knocked off half a star because the worker kept trying to get us to move so he could clean our table. We had literally just finished eating and he was trying to get us to move. There were still open tables so it wasn't like our table was desperately needed. I will be back but hopefully we won't get kicked off our table so quickly next time.

Yelp
Nadine wanted to come here for Taco Tuesday. I'm not really a fan of soft tacos. I like my tacos crunchy. I did see crunchy tacos on the menu, but it was for a kids meal. I was a little confused. They did have Coconut Horchata. I love horchata and never tried a coconut one before. I decided to try one. It was different from the standard horchata that I'm used to. This one was really thick and creamy. It was different, but still good. The workers were super cool. I decided to grab my lunch from another establishment nearby. We were going to sit on one of the tables on the outside of the restaurant, since I wasn't getting my food from there. The workers let us sit inside the restaurant with A/C, since it was so hot outside. They even let me eat my lunch in there, which I really appreciated. Thank you!

Yelp
Lunch on Taco Tuesday in Kaimuki, Honolulu, Hawaii... Located on the busy Waialae Avenue strip, I found a free street parking stall and walked into the clean, nicely air-conditioned, bright environment! Note: There's a convenient restroom! What a bonus! Plus... they let my friend eat here - even though her lunch was from somewhere else that didn't have indoor dining! Thank you - and thanks for the great service. We appreciate your patience, friendliness, and efficiency! I wanted to get the $3 taco specials, so I ordered the Carnitas (braised pork), Pollo Asado (grilled chicken), and Carne Asada (grilled steak) tacos. I liked them! The complimentary salsa was a bit spicy, but I ate ALL of the crunchy, yummy chips with the salsa! I wouldn't mind returning and getting the shrimp and Baja fish tacos!

Yelp
What a great spot this is!! Their staff was super polite and accommodating. The food was so delicious and savory. We ordered carnitas, pollo, carne asada, fish and rajas tacos. We also ordered a carne asada wet burrito that was smooth watering. Homey vibe as well with great music in the background. Overall, a must visit!

Yelp
Im reviewing this place again because I can't get enough of this gem in Kaimuki. The food is consistently flavorful and fresh and the restaurant space is well kept, welcoming and spacious. The last time I came I tried their habanero pickled onions (10/10). I asked for it today, but they didn't have any. As I was waiting for my meal the manager brought some out for me! What service!!! If you're a taco lover, DON'T SLEEP on this place!

Yelp
Beat tacos on this island, drove all the way from Kailua to check it out. we will be back for sure.

Yelp
YUCK!!! Ordered a carne asada burrito. It was horrible! It was SO salty, I couldn't eat it and ended up throwing it away. What a waste! I thought this place would be good because it got good ratings but now I know these are fake ratings on Yelp!!!

Claudia M.

Yelp
Ordered the 2 taco combo with rice and beans. Chose a fish taco and rajas taco. Both were very tasty, especially the fish taco. All of their sauces (serve yourself) were too spicy for me (green, orange and onion). Chips and salsa were an additional charge. Chips were super salty!! Chips were replaced with unsalted chips and served warm. Order at the counter and take a seat. Your food will be served. We cleared our own table of trays and napkins when done. It's a small restaurant worth visiting in the former Azteca spot on Waialae Ave

Yelp
Saw this was highly rated and a ways off the main waikiki drag so wanted to give it a try. Ordered a baja fish taco and shrimp taco with rice and beans, and chips with salsa. The fish taco was good but i don't understand why there is not a grilled option. Being in hawaii with very fresh fish everywhere, why deep fry it? There's much more flavor when grilled. The shrimp taco was also fried but was better flavor than the fish. Also there was a lot of shrimp in it. Overall both tacos were ok and i would order them again if stopping there. The rice and beans were flat. Very little flavor at all. Other little nit piks: - they served rice and beans in a paper tray like a food truck. I didn't get it to go which generally means i would like to eat off a plate. - salsa was good but chips were over cooked and could have used more salt. - ambience was hole-in-the-wall but not in a good way. - chips are not complimentary - value was lacking. Being away from touristy area my lunch with 2 tacos, rice, beans, chips and coke was 30 bucks. I could/should have stayed at my hotel and just ordered up at the pool. So net net, it was ok but i would not make a special journey to try the place again.

Yelp
Saw a fellow IG foodie recently recommended this spot, so we made the drive from Makakilo to Kaimuki. They were super busy, but the young guy behind the counter handled it! Now I've been to the Kahului location several times, always hoping it would be better the next time and it was close to my job. Let's just say it never got better. So I was really hoping the Kaimuki location would be better... I was NOT let down. I ordered the three taco plate, not expecting to eat it all, but my plate was clean after. I had the pobalno, carnitas, and fish taco. I'm a major fish taco fanatic and haven't found one that's Cali style in the islands. Let me tell you, this IS IT! The carnitas was a good blend of meat and fatty pieces and crispy, as it should be. The poblano was mixed with zucchini and had a crema dressing. ALL super good, I wanted 20 more but know my limit hah! Check them out! Can't wait to go back! Almost forgot, whatever magic they're doing with those slightly pickled red onions is absolutely money!

Yelp
A little hole in the wall tucked away in Kaimuki that serves the best street tacos. The service is friendly and fast. Taco Tuesday specials which is when I visited. Will definitely be going back there!

Yelp
Pleasantly surprised with this Mexican restaurant. Nice little restaurant tucked away in central Kaimuki. Inside had a cool vibe and was very clean. Food was definitely some of the best Mexican food I've had on Oahu. Workers very friendly! I'll definitely be back to try some tacos and other menu items in the future! Parking in the back or along street. They have a salsa station you can help yourself to too so that was a big upside as some restaurants I've been too can be very stingy about their lime and salsa. Onions near salsa added a nice crisp flavor to my already delicious burrito!!

Yelp
Always looking for good Mexican food to try here in Hawaii. Been to so so many and have only found one I truly appreciate. Now, I have found two. It is where Azteca used to be. Right around the corner from the crack seed shop. The front of the restaurant has been completely renovated and given a whole new look and feel. It's clean, bright, and inviting. Ordered the 3 taco plate. One carne asada, one pollo, and one carnitas. All were absolutely delicious but I will say the pollo taco was my favorite and it had a creamy dressing that made it amazing! Beans and rice were also good. Homemade tortillas were fantastic! They have hot sauce but you just have to ask for it. The habanero one was just the right amount of spice where it keeps you coming back for more with the perfect amount of heat. Would love it if they served radishes as it adds the crunch. Chips were good but the salsa is more a pico de gallo and nothing to really mention. It's not a salsa rather a bunch of chopped tomatoes. Wasn't a fan of it to be honest. It was kinda busy and there was only one person working the front. I could tell having another worker would have been a huge help. She was answering phones, wrapping up orders, washing dishes etc. Will definitely be back for more tacos!

Yelp
Stopped in to see what the hype was about, hoping for a legit Mexican spot on island and left surprisingly underwhelmed. We ordered chips, salsa, fish tacos, chicken tacos and shrimp tacos. The best part of the meal was the salsa, chips and side sauces. Pros: Great/Friendly service Fresh tortillas Good salsa Food was hot Good sauces Cons: All of the tacos had little to no flavor, chicken tasted like it had no seasoning, as well as the shrimp. Worst rice and beans I've ever had. (Cold and bland) Overall, just a mediocre meal for $52.

Yelp
Too expensive for way too salty Carne Asada. Not a pleasant experience with the service being just average, ambiance being not even average (kinda like sitting in a storage room or closet), and the food being average.

Yelp
Being that my husband is Mexican and from Cali, we are always on the hunt for good tacos. I've been meaning to try this place, but this past weekend, I finally got a chance to :) I parked in the small parking lot behind the building (metered parking, but I believe it's free on Sundays) I easily input my order (and paid for it) ahead of time on their website, and by the time I got there, it was ready. However, when I asked if they had agua frescas, and the cashier said they had watermelon today, I just couldn't pass it up and asked if I could buy a cup. The sweet cashier told me she has just enough left for 1 cup, and she gave it to me for free! That was so sweet, it made my day! I ended up getting the 2-taco plate. For my protein of choice, I chose shrimp (camarones). Along with the 2 shrimp tacos, the plate came with refried beans and Spanish rice. I also ordered chips and salsa. The tacos were yummy, and had good flavor and the shrimp was cooked well. The only downside/critiques i have are: (1) thought the tacos had too much cabbage (but this may not be a bad thing to some people) which took away from the shrimp in the tacos. (2) The rice and beans were good, but it was such a tinyyyy amount for the price lol. The chips were delicious and well seasoned, and the "salsa" that came with it was actually a pretty big container of pico de gallo that had some chopped jalapeño pieces. Yum :) Overall, the flavors of the food was good, and my husband and I will definitely be back! In addition to good food, the service was super friendly. Can't wait to come back to try their carnitas and rasas (strips of roasted poblano peppers)

Yelp
They should use the larger size tortilla wrap. Everything was stuffed in a small tortilla. Messy, hard to hold and can't get the condiments in there.

Yelp
Happy National Taco Day and it was on Tuesday!! Taco-bout the coincidences or was it just fate...I think it was a sign pointing towards Tight Tacos up in Kaimuki *wink!*. You can find this newbie right on the corner of Waialae and Koko Head Ave and I got lucky finding some street parking but there's also a newly renovated municipal parking right in around the corner. Walking up I was delighted to see a couple of seating outside and besides the decent sized counter several tables as well in this tiny place. You place your order at the counter which is basically a simple menu from Tacos, Quesadillas, or Burritos with that it's a choice of protein (Carne Asada, Carnitas, Pollo Asado, Lengua, Baja Fish, Camarones or Rajas) which is an impressive amount of choices and you can make your tacos into a plate which includes Mexican rice and beans. Since I'm not the biggest beans person I kept it simple and ordered three tacos. Since it was Tuesday they offered their special of $3 Tacos (which is on a store bough double corn tortilla) which I couldn't pass up on the opportunity as the timing was and decided on a side of Chips and Salsa as it's fried in house is intriguing. You're then given a number for your order which came out in just minutes...ohhh all three tacos (Carned Asada, Carnitas and Pollo Asado) all came out filled generously topped with red onions and cilantro though only one came with sauce which I have no idea what it was, confused I glanced back at the menu it noted salsa which is probably the green sauce which was disappointing as it didn't do much for the tacos. THEN I realized I didn't get my chips and salsa...approached the counter and was told I didn't get charged for it...!?! Finished eating....!?! Woah!! I paid almost $18+ when I ordered the Taco Tuesday deal of $3 tacos...!?! I returned to the counter and insisted I was overcharged and was owed my chips and salsa so he double checked and realized he was wrong and I was charged for it and even sold me the regular (amazing hand-pressed corn tortilla tacos) instead of the special...I felt like a total fool!!! He really apologized and offered a refund or a chips and salsa to go which I decided on and was disappointed as it wasn't anything special at all. The sauce didn't do anything flavor wise, I just wished there was some kind of hot sauce...sigh! Staff seemed overwhelmed as they were busy though the system could be better organized, my long day at work made my lack of attention worse but was left with a happy belly. I will be back again to get the Taco Tuesday deal. Thank you!

Yelp
I really want to give them a better review b/c the people were so nice and there's a good vibe here. Probably b/c the people are so nice! Also, I've only gone once and everyone can have a slightly off day. I can see how with a few tweaks I would've had the same experience a lot of others have had. It's a small space with some tables and counter seating facing Waialae Ave which is great for people-watching. You order at the counter, seat yourself and pick up your food when it's ready, tho' they brought our drinks to the table. They also bus the table for you. Quite a few people came to order takeout while we were there. They were busy. They're in the old Azteca space. Tacos: the tortillas seem homemade and are a nice canvas for the fillings as the thickness and char were good. My favorite filling was the carnitas. Moist with nice savoriness. The lengua had a nice texture, but it was really under salted. It tasted kind of bland. The carne asada was tasty, but kind of dry. The poblanos in the rajas were overly charred. The bean and cheese burrito had a good amount of filling. The beans and rice that come with the taco plates were solid. Next to the cash register you can help yourself to different salsas, fresh limes, and pickled carrots. All nice additions that complement the food. Also tried the horchata. It was not overly sweet and had a good amount of cinnamon, but tasted a little watery to me. I will go back and try the food again. Hopefully I'll have a positive update!
