5 Dreamy Hawaiian Date Spots in Waikiki

"Situated inside the historic Royal Hawaiian Resort — the “Pink Palace of the Pacific” — this seaside dining room emphasizes high-quality, locally sourced ingredients and offers the sensory pleasure of dining mere steps from Waikiki Beach with trade-wind breezes at your table. A mindfully curated five-course dinner is served Wednesday through Sunday evenings, and for a truly unique sweet treat try the uni ice cream: the buttery flavor of the uni is melded with ice cream and served with truffle cotton candy, a honey tuille, and toasted macadamia nuts." - Tawny Clark

Hotel is under revonation so I was seated in a conference room. Server had a terrible attitude. Waited 50 mins for my food, I got it 15 mins ago and it’s freezing. Server disappeared and never brought me a steak knife so I’m trying to cut my steak with a butter knife. One of the most bizarre ghetto experiences I’ve ever had, my coworker joined me at some point and the server completely ignored him. Currently trying to get a check. This is a disaster

I was so excited to get thier burger . It looked amazing. But found it lacking in flavour. It just needed something.....maybe an aoli sauce .

Ordering a drink at a bar doesn’t have to be complicated. His action was terrible. Just watch out for your tab. (extras surprisingly drinks).

The staff at breakfast make this a good place. The new menu is good. You just need to keep in mind this is a hotel so prices are what they are. If you have Marriott status you can’t beat the price. Special shout out to Rony Combs.

Google
The worst value for breakfast of any of my Marriott stays. $25 plus tip for meager offerings that were stale or old. I arrived 10am Sunday morning and did not enjoy my dining experience.

Great staff. Chef nailed it with preparing the steak! Absolutely delicious. This place is setting a standard when it comes to staff and food. Ambience is warm. Bartenders are professional, polite and not annoying.

Google
Great Maryland breakfast! Chesapeake Benedict with lump crab meat and old bay home fries on the side. Also, had the fresh carrot, apple, ginger, and turmeric juice. Both were fresh and refreshing! I have also heard great things about their dinners. They get some unique selections of fish and meats that they will sometimes offer on the menu. The staff was very nice and the outdoor seating was pleasant. The indoor seating has some nice seats along the window, but does have a hotel restaurant feel. But the food makes up for it and makes this a hidden gem in the Westin Hotel.

We took our family for Easter Brunch. Azure lost our reservation, misrepresented how much it would cost and where the brunch was going to be held. They put is in a "reception room," not the actual restaurant. I had to walk my handicapped father all over the hotel because we were not seated in the restaurant as promised over the phone in advance. The staff was totally unprepared with mass confusion as to the location and reservations. The power kept tripping which prevented anyone from our table of ten from getting an omelet or being served warm meat from the carving station. It was way over priced, they added 20% gratuity, and charged us $9 per mimosa without our prior knowledge. Azure's "mimosas" tasted a lot like plain refrigerator OJ. I WILL NEVER DO THAT AGAIN! I felt cheated and misled. Azure Westin staff: You should be ashamed!

Yelp
No thank you. I ordered crab cake appetizer and while I'm not from MD I knew these were not legit. All filler pan sautéed with no breadcrumbs. Tasted frozen!! Wait time for food was long I ordered there "pommes fritters" and was served oddly cut thick fries as opposed to shoestring (true pommes frites) the grilled asparagus was the star of the show though! Will not repeat lesson learned. Plenty other places down the street,

Yelp
We ate here twice on our weekend getaway to Annapolis. It's fine for a hotel restaurant but disappointing for a Westin hotel restaurant. Let's start with the best things...the cheese board was a great midday snack. It had a nice variety of cheeses but not enough bread or crackers. The fig jam was delicious! It came with 3 thin toasted bread slices. We asked for more and she only brought three more...not proportional to the amount of cheese. We had the breakfast buffet the next morning. It was a pretty typical breakfast buffet. An odd thing is that the food wasn't very hot. The scrambled eggs were runny but the bacon was great. It was thick and not too crispy. The service wasn't great. I'm reluctant to share this observation because some readers may take offense. But, I'm going to share it: many of the restaurant staff do not speak English well at all. I mean it was very hard to place our drink order because the waitress really didn't understand Prosecco or Tangueray & tonic. We also couldn't understand what she was saying. The first guy we encountered in the restaurant the next morning didn't speak English at all. He wasn't a waiter but he was an employee.

Yelp
Service was horrible, server seemed to be solely interested in selling us wine. Food was meh, had cheeseboard that didn't conform to what was on the menu. Long wait for the food, and server had to be asked for water refills, and presented an annoyed attitude. Not the kind of service that I expect from a Westin hotel.

Yelp
Rounding up 3.5 stars. Azure is pretty standard as far as hotel restaurants go. The food is so-so; nothing spectacular. The olive and hummus starter plate was very small and came out with approximately 4 small olives. The mahi mahi tacos I had were okay. The crab cake sandwich was good and I would recommend that. They forgot the sauce on two of our entrees and brought those out separately. Drinks and service were fine. If you are looking for a unique Annapolis dining experience, I would recommend venturing a little closer to downtown, as there are a number of great restaurants on West Street.

Yelp
Restaurant Azure inside the Westin Annapolis hotel at 100 Westgate Circle is always a nice retreat for lunch or dinner.  Right on the street with big floor to ceiling windows letting in the natural light but always quiet and peaceful to get work done. Today I had the Marinated Chicken Sandwich which came out delicious as ever and quick too. Service is always on point at Restaurant Azure.  Today we had Dorothy helping our table.  So friendly, so delightful, pleasant, fast with our order and checked in regularly.  Thank You Dorothy and Azure!

Yelp
We were given complimentary breakfast vouchers at Azure from our stay in the Westin. We were allowed to order any item from the a la carte menu - I opted for their Chesapeake Benedict while my husband went with their American big breakfast (eggs, sausages, bacons, hash browns and toasts). Thank goodness I had a latte to hold me over, It took almost an hour for our foods to arrive. What made it worst? They didn't give my husband the correct sides (ham instead of sausage, grain toasts instead of whites, fried eggs instead of easy overs) - almost as if they gave my husband someone else's order. The hollandaise sauce from my Chesapeake Benedict was overwhelmingly sour. In fact, it was so sour that my mother in law thought the eggs had spoiled. With the amount of crab meats sprinkled on top, the dish definitely was not worth the normal $16 off the menu. Overall - With such long wait for entrees, might as well save it for Miss Shirley's or Red Rooster down the streets. Similar price tag, way way way tastier foods!

Yelp
Had an outstanding salad here at Azure. Tried the full Size beet salad, red and gold beets with goat cheese, crumbled pistachios and basaltic on the size. I choose to add half a piece of grilled salmon, absolutely delicious! I would 100% order this salad again!!

Yelp
A nice little pizza Shoppe with one emphasis on the little and the other on the "to go". There are two small tables inside each with three high bar seats and another table outside. Do if you are planning on eating a slice of this rather more than okay pizza you should on having someplace to go with your food to eat it. The people working there are very nice and it is very clean.

Yelp
You have to try the crab cakes, very little filler and lots and lots of crab meat. You get two, basically you eat one for dinner and you take the other home for lunch the next day. Amazing food.

Yelp
Ok...I only ate two things here and both were great: 1) Cream of Crab...*really * good. Delicious soup with big chunks of crab meat. Just add some tabasco and I'm in heaven. 2. Beef bites: tasty little sliders that pack alot of flavor. I'd order both of these items again.

Yelp
This is a good spot for lunch. The create your own salad is great, mostly because of the freshness and variety of ingredients. I love the herb vinaigrette dressing, and to be honest I haven't tried any other dressing because that one is so perfect. The service is usually very good, but there have been some times where the waitress has forgot about our group and we are left looking for the check for quite some time. it's definitely not a place to go to if you are in a rush.

Yelp
Did the breakfast buffet one morning while staying at the Westin. It wasn't bad. Pretty much your standard $20-25 hotel breakfast buffet. Service wasn't bad, since you're serving yourself :)

Yelp
Conveniently located across the street from my office it is a decent spot for lunch, but pricey. I went there with my SO for lunch. They have a wide variety of burgers (which is what I had). Their burgers are all 1/2 pounders. I am of the opinion that 1/3 pound is the ideal size for a burger. That being said the burger was cooked well and was flavorful. My SO had a salad from their build your own salad menu. The list of options was extensive and the ingredients looked fresh. It can be somewhat difficult to get into the place from the street. It is actually located inside the Westin hotel. We ended up going in from what appeared to be the back door. But a friendly waiter did direct us to the front where a hostess seated us. The food was good, but a little pricey for burgers and salads. We will go back.

Yelp
Very Limited Menu; Did love the "Build Your Own Salad" feature. Generally food is good; December value for high-end hotel

Yelp
I have been going to Azure almost from its opening day. Although there were some initial problems, I do feel that they have steadily improved and this morning was an example of just how customer centered they can be. We went expecting the buffet as advertised on their website only to discover that they had decided there were not enough people to justify having it that day. The manager, Tim Carlson, not only gave us coupons for a future buffet, but brought our car out of the garage for free valet service. WOW--now THAT is customer service!! Plus he promised to amend the website to reflect the possibility of having menu only breakfasts when the need arises. Our breakfast was great (although it was not what I had been hoping for) and I just LOVE that they leave a pot of coffee (hot and robust) on the table in the silver server. The Eggs Benedict was wonderful with a delicious Hollandaise that was light and flavorful. The poached egg was beautiful and the bacon requested as extra crisp was perfect. I thought I had noted on Yelp before that they have absolutely the BEST sausage gravy with biscuits that I have ever had--anywhere-- but I guess I must have put that on another site. So, I am redeeming myself to say it here. It is always on the buffet (but not on the regular menu) and it is a must for those of us who are fans. This dish is hard to find on any upscale menu and most places make it like glue. You will not find a better version even in the south... Also notable on the buffet are the scrambled eggs which are always light, fluffy and creamy. In my opinion their buffet is one of the best in town and to have it available everyday is pretty awesome--I can understand why at times they need to cancel it. (I'll just know now to call before I go) As for lunches, they have outstanding burgers with buns that actually stand up to the quality of the meat, don't fall apart and are good on their own. Their design- your- own salad is also great. Service is leisurely but very attentive. I am a fan! My only wish is that they would validate parking for the locals...

Yelp
For Thanksgiving this year, 2013, our family had a very special time dining at the Westin Hotel in Annapolis, MD. Thankfully the price of the meal was sensible, else we wouldn't have known about it. We enjoy traditional dishes, and the Azure Restaurant had all of these done with great creativity and flare. Chef James Barrett chose the main ingredients, spices and condiments while preparing and serving them in amazing ways! Every item was done with great thought. The colors and style of presentation, even the way the carrots were trimmed, were inviting eye-candy and so pleasing that you didn't want to miss tasting everything! Yes, there was very well prepared turkey, steak, ham, wild caught salmon and pork loin - but reading the menu off to you wouldn't capture the intense delight our palates enjoyed for three hours. The delectable gravies, stuffings, sauces, homemade butters; The huge variety of special breads, soups, vegetables, unique salads; And the traditional desserts that were inimitable. My favorite were the "Turtle" Truffles. An added bonus was the gracious and knowledgeable Culinary Team. They generously shared intriguing information, answering our questions about so much of we were seeing on the buffet. Did you know that the two little pockets of tender dark meat on the back of the turkey are called "oysters"? Thank you Westin for having Chef James Barrett and his amazing team! Our family greatly appreciates your sharing them with us this Thanksgiving! "Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good; Blessed is the man who trusts in Him!" Psalm 34:8

Yelp
Was back again and met Pete, the other bartender. Once again, excellent service and excellent recommendations with regard to drinks, food and local activities. Pete is the one that piqued my Jerry's Seafood interest! (http://www.yelp.com/biz/jerrys-seafood-lanham#hrid:OBE48QC5nvTpQ6ss0JZP4g)

Yelp
Great creative food and a bar that will provide entertainment for all your senses !! The use of the honey from the hives on the roof and beyond exceptional locally crafted granola help to ensure Azure is not your typical hotel restaurant. At the bar you will often find both travelers as well as locals looking to enjoy libations that are delivered with a fun attitude and level of professionalism not expected in a hotel.

Yelp
Check my other reviews and you'll see that I rarely rate businesses low. As you'll see in this review the bar gets a solid one star at best. I went to have drinks and instead of sitting at the bar I sat in the lounge area. While sitting in the lounge area it was clear that service from behind the bar wasn't going to come out to check on me so I did approach the bar and order two drinks. When the drinks arrived I asked if there were bar nut or chips. I was told yes but after 15 minutes and none showing up I reapproach the bar. They scooped out bar nuts immediately. After another 15 minutes I noticed some of the people at the bar, somehow broke a wine glass and the glass shattered at their feet. They picked up the larger pieces of the wineglass but smaller fragments remained on the floor at their feet. About 10 more minutes passed and I approach the bartender and asked if she knew there was glass on the floor. Her response was yes but I am waiting for the customers to leave. I told her I'm not sure that was a good idea and left. I went out to the front desk to inform the manager of this and to his credit he immediately acted. Westing needs to ensure that their employees pay attention. To their credit I would complement the valet parking staff as they want on their game and very focused and very very pleasant. Had it not been for my experience at the bar this would've been a much better ranking.

Yelp
I woke up this morning in a good mood, unusual before my daily cup of joe. I proceeded to my hotel lobby, and to my delight discovered a small coffee shoppè. I enthusiastically approached the counter, this is where my day took a turn for the worse. The two employees behind the counter were engaged in conversation and paid no attention to me as I stood waiting. After it least two minutes of patient waiting, they turned to me and took my order. I ordered a small iced caramel machiatto, unfortunately they were out of small cups, a likely story. I was coerced into ordering a larger size than I intended. After a considerably long wait my coffee was finally ready. The employee grudgingly handed me my coffee and continued chatting with her fellow employee, not even trying to make small talk or acknowledge my presence. On top of all that the coffee was quite disgusting. I'd liken it to gas station coffee but much more pricey. Overall very disappointed. The only upside is that the seats were quite comfortable and left my back with firm support but also a sense of cushiness, a balance not easily to achieved by many chairs. 5 star chairs, 2 star coffee.

Yelp
Decent and relatively inexpensive breakfast for a hotel restaurant. I was staying at the Westin and short on time in the morning so decided to go for convenience and eat at the hotel restaurant. I was pleasantly surprised to see that their prices were on par with many of the other restaurants nearby like Shirley's where I had eaten earlier in the week. The selection was not nearly as vast here as it was at Shirley's but their American Breakfast hit the spot. The sausage was tasty, eggs were poached really well and they had nice thinly sliced potatoes as hashbrowns. They also had some more adventurous options like congee (which my colleague order). The congee was less like the liquidy congee he had expected and more like a sticky rice bowl but at least was tasty. Service was also good and fairly fast but there were not many people there. Overall a pleasant experience and a less expensive option than I would expect at the hotel.

Yelp
I was super excited to try this restaurant out during Annapolis Restaurant Week. Unfortunately my husband and I were both disappointed with our choices. My hummus appetizer was huge, but it wasn't bad per se. His beet salad with field greens and goat cheese turned out to be beets with arugula, not "field greens." He had the Pot roast/short rib entree and I had the battered rockfish and chips. His short rib was very dry and hard to cut...which should never be when you are dealing with pot roast! My rockfish was just OK...there was a ton of parmesan cheese on it (I'm not a fan of cheese with fish) and the "chips" were actually homemade chips, not french fries, which was interesting. My low-fat ricotta cheesecake was absolutely awful. It was so dry and tasted like a sponge with berries on it. I could only eat 3 bites of it. On the other hand, my husband LOVED the pumpkin caramel milkshake! I took a few sips and enjoyed it as well - very creamy and lovely. The service was fine considering there was one server covering the entire floor. She worked her butt off getting to all the tables and serving with a smile. She was great even if getting the food and drinks took awhile. We sat right at the entrance next to the buffet line and cereal bar...not very romantic. It would have been better if they dimmed the lighs and maybe some music plaing in the background. All in all a very forgettable experience.

Yelp
not too bad for a hotel restaurant. breakfast was good, scrambled eggs were a bit runny but they had the cutest jelly bottles...
